While Sirius's words were intending for them to quickly leave the chamber, it was not meant to be for as soon as he said those words, Dumbledore and McGonagall approached them. The old wizard looking years younger with his smile and glittering eyes while the usually stern Professor had a soft smile and slightly watery eyes.
"It's been too long since I've been this happy!" McGonagall cried with more cheer than Harry's ever seen, "Sirius you look much better than I was expecting! I had figured Azkaban would have removed any cheer from you!"
"Oh, it did!" He responded merrily, "But I've had a while to clean up and heal. I've been in the most wonderful care, all thanks to Harry!"
Eyes turned to Harry and he looked down with a cough, "Just had to ask a friend for some help. Nothing too much, only doing what was right for an innocent man!"
"Quite right!" Dumbledore said, "I know that this was a long time coming, my boy. But it does my old heart to see that you have come out of this with some cheer. While it may be a more sentimental than literal, the saying: 'laughter heals all wounds!' might be quite appropriate in this instance!"
"Indeed." Interjected Remus who had been watching silently, "I hope to make sure that he continues to keep his spirits up as we cover all the necessary business that comes with his situation."
Harry turned to him, "What business?"
"He must go through both the Ministry and Gringotts to redeclare himself. Both as a free citizen and the Head of the Black family so he can use his accounts. This trial would have set all that in motion, but if he wants to use any of his money soon, he'll have to go do it himself. I mean to have him go today after we have our dinner."
"That would be for the best." Said Dumbledore. "I believe we will be returning to Hogwarts now Harry. Best not to forget that you have class tomorrow!"
Harry looked a bit put out while Sirius sprung forward, "He'll be having dinner with myself and Remus! I've waited too long to talk with him! I'm sure it isn't too much trouble for him to return in an hour or so?"
The warmth of Sirius's affection and desire to know him flared once again and Harry had to fight off a smile that was threatening to overtake his face. McGonagall looked to refuse Sirius's demand when a smiling Dumbledore held up his hand to stop her.
"I will agree with Sirius in this situation, Minerva." Dumbledore said and continued before she could object, "This is far from a normal circumstance, so I see no reason to deny such a long-awaited reunion! I will expect Harry back in my office in one hour's time, any later and I will send Professor McGonagall after him!"
All three of them accepted the terms without pause, none of them wanting to push the envelope when McGonagall looked like she didn't want this to happen in the first place.
The three of them tried to push through the crowd that had gathered on the chamber floor. Some were there to speak of the hearing and the twists of the truths that were revealed. Others were there to speak with colleges that they haven't seen in a while, such as several of the Council of Magical Law members and Mrs. Tonks. Before they could get to the exit of the room they were stopped by a trio of redheaded wizards, the Weasleys.
"Terribly sorry to hear that you were suffering in Azkaban for no reason, Sirius!" The oldest Weasley, Arthur, Harry believed his name was, said in dismay. "I like many others am looking back in shame as hindsight is telling me that it was too fishy and obvious what the truth was. I hope you can forgive me."
"Of course!" Sirius cheered, "I didn't, looking back, make the best case for myself. While it was clearly the fault of the Ministry, I can't blame you Arthur. I will say that Crouch has a few things coming to him if he and I see each other!"
Harry didn't miss the dark look that passed over his face when he mentioned the man that was responsible for condemning him to a decade of hell. It would seem that his cheer was possible because he pushed all the dark thoughts of his fate onto one man. Whether that was a healthy way to cope or not, Harry didn't know, but he wouldn't want to be there when the two of them met in person. Harry knew better than most what kind of magic lay in the hands of a Black, and their fury was hard pressed to be surpassed when wronged.
"I still can't believe that the stupid rat was a person this whole time!" Ron grumbled getting a snort of laughter from Sirius.
"Don't feel too badly I know better than most how tricky he is, young Weasley." Reassured Sirius but it did little for Ron, "I will say that you and your brother keeping him for this long made it possible for me to be cleared so if there's anything I can do for the two of you I will. Call it a thank you!"
Ron looked to speak and even Percy started to move forward but they were stopped by Arthur who was instead looking at Harry with a serious expression on his face.
"I actually will say that the debt has been made even in that case." Arthur said getting surprised looks from his sons and curious ones from Sirius and Remus, "Mr. Potter here saved my daughter from a rather terrible situation a few weeks ago. So, if you owed us any favor call it even!"
Eyes once again shifted to Harry, "Um, I didn't think anyone knew about that." Harry said quietly.
"Those at the school might not." Agreed Arthur, "But as her father I was told after the fact. This is the first chance I've gotten so I'll say it now. Thank you, Harry Potter. I don't want to think what could have happened if you hadn't stumbled upon Ginny that night."
Harry gave him a smile in return, "I was just doing what was right, and if you know what happened you'll know that I didn't exactly do everything I could have." He said in embarrassment. After all he did leave Ginny in the middle of the hall after removing the diary that night and left her to be found in the morning. Not the most heroic of actions, but he feared Snape's reaction to his late-night wanderings far more than being seen as a hero.
"While I agree that your methods weren't the best." Arthur said with a nod, "All's well that ends well! Right?" He asked his sons who shrugged in response to the puzzlement of the other three.
"Dad likes to use muggle expressions," explained Percy, "That's one I think he may have said correctly for the first since I've heard him say it."
At that he got three shrugs and a nod from Harry. "He used it right." Harry explained when they looked at him.
"Fantastic!" Cheered Arthur, "With that I have to get these two back to Hogwarts! Come on boys!"
The Weasleys left after a few farewells. Harry was given two very thankful nods from Percy and Ron, who had just heard for the first time that he saved their sister. He was sure they were interrogating their father about what happened as they left.
Finally, the three of them left the chamber and made their way out of the Ministry quickly. Unfortunately, there were many witches and wizards in the atrium that they were trying to push through to get the floo's. So, it was going to take a bit to leave.
After a while they managed to floo to Diagon Alley where Sirius was craving a good hardy meal from the Leaky Cauldron. Tom was more than willing to give them a private room to eat and talk without people coming up to speak with the boy-who-lived or the recently released Sirius Black. News had already spread quickly of such a notorious name being released. Harry suspected that there was a leak from the Ministry to the press.
Sitting down in their room they sighed and relaxed into their chairs.
"So, Harry, how's Hogwarts so far?" Sirius asked, "I'm guessing you're in Gryffindor?"
Harry cringed slightly at the assumption, he knew that both his parents as well as Sirius and Remus had been Gryffindors. So, he was a little nervous about how they'd respond to his sorting.
"Slytherin actually." Harry said reluctantly much to the visual surprise of Sirius and Remus.
They were quiet for a moment, "Prongs would be shocked." Muttered Sirius before brightening up, "So how's the snake pit? I went there once to prank Snivellus, but I didn't stay long."
"Snivellus? Wait, do you mean Snape?" Asked Harry in wonder, although he had a feeling if his Head of House heard that name, he'd become apoplectic.
"Unfortunately, yes." Said Remus. "Although I must say Padfoot you shouldn't call him that anymore, we're in our thirties now!"
"What else should I call him?" Sirius asked with wide eyes, "I've thought of him as Snivellus ever since I met him and nothing else, even in my own head! It'll be difficult to break that habit. But if you insist." He finished with a mirthful pout.
"Well, to answer your question, it's fine." Said Harry, "There isn't much about it that would have changed, since you've been there. I like it though, Slytherin is a very interesting house! There is almost always something going on and I'm on the house Quidditch team as a Seeker!"
Sirius perked up at that, "Really! Then I suppose I know what to get you for all those birthdays I missed!"
"If it's a broom them don't bother, I've got a Nimbus 2000."
Sirius looked put out that his ideal gift was shot down.
"How are your studies?" Asked Remus, "From what I heard from Dumbledore you're quite the wizard already!"
"Really?" Sirius asked with an interested smile.
"I'm top of my year, while at the risk of sounding arrogant, I'm likely better than the year above too."
Sirius reared back in surprise, "Wow! Well, you must get that from your mother. Lily was an incredibly gifted witch always at the top or close to it. While Prongs was very intelligent, he was less into learning than he was Quidditch and mischief!" Both he and Remus chuckled when he said that.
"So, Prongs is my dad?" Harry asked. He still didn't understand the names the two men were referring to each other as.
Both men blinked for a moment, "Yes that was his Marauder name!" Announced Sirius, "Thinking back I guess it would be impossible for you to know. Mine is Padfoot, Remus is Moony, James was Prongs and the rat…is Wormtail." He said with disdain.
Having confirmed his suspicions Harry needed to ask them something, "Would he have really been that upset that I'm a Slytherin? I mean the hat said I could go to any of them and I didn't have any objections I just wanted to be sorted where it thought was best!"
Having been so far from either of his parents all his life, Harry was feeling worried that they, or just his father even, wouldn't have liked him being in Slytherin. It was a flare of worry or dread that he was used to feeling when thinking about his parents and what they'd think of him.
Before Remus could move or speak Sirius laid a hand on Harry's shoulder, "Don't you worry about that. Prongs was a prat sure, but house rivalries wouldn't have meant much to him if it was you. Trust me and even if he did Lily would have cursed him something fierce, you were incapable of wrong in her eyes! She never cared about house rivalries in the first place anyway."
"If anyone were to have a problem with it, it would have been me." Sirius continued sheepishly, "Back then I was more of a prat or even bully if I think about it. But time does good for maturity, not to mention a decade of thinking about what's important makes it hard to care about things like that. Especially since my godson has shown that he is a great lad, tad too cautious and mistrustful, but great when we get down to it."
Harry sighed comically when Sirius brought up his interrogation, but it was more in jest than anything else, so he didn't comment on it. Although he couldn't fight off the small smile that was growing on his face at his Godfather's words.
"I would agree." Said Remus, "But I have to apologize, this is our first meeting, but I should have taken time to meet with you in the past year. During your stay at the Dursley's there was to be no visitation, that was part of the agreement for them to raise you. I would have raised you myself though trust me when I say that it would have been worse than the Dursley's if that had happened. Although that doesn't excuse me from not meeting you in the past year since you've returned to the magical world."
Harry mulled over that for a moment, "I'll forgive you, Remus. Though mostly because until I met Sirius, I didn't even know who you were, so it wasn't like I was hoping for you to come and take me in all this time. If I had known about you my whole life, I might be a bit more upset." He said honestly.
Remus sagged in his chair, "Thank you, Harry. You might have not known about it until recently, but I have been thinking of little else for a very long time."
"Enough of that!" Sirius exclaimed, "Let's get back to the fun stuff! What are you interested in Harry?"
"Oh well I am interested in dueling; I've been teaching myself some spells to prepare for when I try my hand at the U17 English league after my third year."
Sirius and Remus looked at him for a moment before bursting into laughter. Harry felt irritated that they were laughing at him and was about to say something when Remus shook his head.
"We weren't laughing at you but more a memory!" Said Remus still laughing between words.
"He's right!" Sirius cried while wiping his eyes, "You look so much like Prongs, Harry! It was like when he told us he was going to enter the U17, only he didn't prepare or train at all! It was the most ridiculous loss I've ever seen! Barely made it two minutes before getting stunned!"
Harry had to chuckle at that, from what he understood in his younger years, or at least prior to sixth year, his father was quite similar to the Weasley twins. So, he could see him brushing off training while expecting to pull out a win.
"Don't get us wrong," Remus said, "Your father was a brilliant and talented wizard. But he didn't seriously push himself in his studies until his fourth year. Right after he lost in the U17, actually." Both men laugh again at the memory.
"So, what have you been doing this year Harry? Anything of note outside of homework?" Asked Sirius.
"I've been working on conjuring." Harry said getting shocked looks from both of the older wizards. "I'm trying to get to the point that I can conjure granite that is my size by Christmas."
"Conjuring?" Sirius asked in shock, "But you're only twelve, how do you have the control or power to conjure something like that?"
"Well, I've been practicing high level spells since last year. Not that it's going quickly, it's been taking a while to get how I want."
"I think that is beyond what most of us could do." Commented Remus. "I have to say that I'm impressed with not only your ability, but the dedication to your training for dueling."
"Thanks, Remus." Said Harry with a nod. "Other than that, I've been making notes of any changes in my familiar, Hedwig, and learning more about magical subjects not gone over in Hogwarts."
"Hedwig, what kind of beast is it?" Asked Sirius.
"She's a Lunistia." Harry said with a smile. "She's extremely intelligent and with every full moon grows more so. She can move things with her mind, and on a full moon she can even use some kind of apparition. Although it seems limited to going places that she's been before."
"A Lunistia!" Sirius cried in shock. "I've read about them but their so rare! How'd you meet one?"
Harry explained his shopping in Diagon Alley and the happenstance that led to his meeting of Hedwig as an Ivoryavem. Both Remus and Sirius were bewildered at the thought of the salesman not knowing what he had. Harry further explained her maturation from Ivoryavem to Lunistia, about how when an Ivoryavem reaches a certain age or bonds with a wizard they undergo the maturation from one full moon to the next.
"You certainly have more going on than we did." Sirius said. "I think we began studying how to become Animagus in second year, but that took three years to finish!"
"You're Animagus!" Harry exclaimed, "You became Animagus in your fifth year! That's incredible, there are grown wizards that fail the process. I was interested in the process, but it is so hard to come by knowledge on how one goes about it."
"Impressed, huh!" Laughed Sirius before jumping from his chair. Midway into the jump his body swiftly began to change and before he even hit the ground in his place was a large shaggy black dog.
"This is Padfoot." Introduced Remus.
Padfoot trotted over to Harry with his large tongue flopping out of his mouth. As soon as he got to Harry, he pounced and gave his face a poke with his cold wet nose getting a cry of surprise out of Harry.
Sirius quickly changed back and took back his seat, "I think you can guess that the Marauder names are indicative of our Animagus transformations. I'm a dog while your dad was a stag."
"Then what about Moony?" Asked Harry while looking at the man in question. He seemed to have become a bit nervous and receded into himself, Sirius wasn't having any of that as he reached over and patted him on the back.
"I'm a werewolf, Harry." Remus said quietly, "It's why I said that my raising you would have been worse than your relatives."
"Oh." Muttered Harry, "I should tell you! I've been in contact with the creator of the Wolfsbane potion and he's dedicated his life to curing lycanthropy. He expressed his wish to meet Hedwig due to her ties to the moon, so maybe something positive can come of it!"
"Someone is trying to cure lycanthropy?" Asked Sirius in shock, "Who could even begin to overcome something that has affect our world for thousands of years?"
"Alejandro Avogadro." Answered Remus. "He's the High Master of the Potions Guild. He's been the only one that has tried this hard to help those of us afflicted by this curse."
"I sent him a dozen feathers from Hedwig and had her deliver them so they could meet." Said Harry. "Though I haven't heard from him since, so I don't know what else has been going on."
With that note the conversation to a turn back to asking questions about each other's lives and for Sirius the world and big news during his incarceration.
Remus told the both of them of his time alone, journeying to many countries looking for work or to forget. He told them about some of the tombs in Egypt he went to visit, much to Harry's interest, or the people of Paris, much to Sirius's.
Harry told them about his interest in learning enchanting, alchemy and some of the spells he's interested in learning after Christmas. Needless to say, both men were shocked that someone his age was that interested in such difficult subjects and even more so capable of understanding them.
Before they had time to think about it the hour was nearly up, and Harry was escorted to a floo that he could use to get to Dumbledore's office.
"We'll see you for Christmas, right?" Sirius asked hesitantly.
Harry grinned, "Of course, I think this is the first one I've ever looked forward too!"
Sirius lunged forward and pulled him into a tight hug, Harry responding after a moment.
"I promise that you have a home with me, lad. Just as soon as I get all my accounts and can get a new place. I'm thinking somewhere with sun and warmth. Does that sound good? If you'd want to stay with me that is, if you don't then I'd understand it." He said trying to be reassuring.
Harry laughed, "I'd love to, but we have Christmas to get through first! We can worry about the rest after."
"He's right," Said Remus, "And if he doesn't get back soon all three of us will be in detention with McGonagall!"
Harry entered the fireplace with a handful of powder. Looking at the two men he felt that warmth again, they were the closest family he had left, even if they weren't blood. The Dursley's didn't even like him, but his Godfather and close family friend Remus were enough for him. Giving one last smile he threw the powder down, "Dumbledore's office!"
Hogwarts – December 1. 1992
Two weeks since the trial that set free his innocent Godfather had seen little change in his normal days, but many changes to his overall life.
As, Harry, for the first time in his life had a regular correspondence with someone that was merely interested in his life. Even Remus, who Harry was sure was still hesitant to get too close due to his guilt, had been willing to keep up with letters. Likely at the insistence of Sirius as the both of them were living together for the moment.
Two days after the hearing the Daily Prophet released an interesting article.
'Sirius Black Proven Innocent! Minister Fudge helps free innocent man and rights the wrongs of his Predecessor!' It read and Harry was told, by Draco of all people, the truth of the matter.
'My father had to pull some strings with our oaf of a Minister. Apparently, he was going to have both Pettigrew and Lord Black kissed in his holding cell during the week before the hearing. The article was my father's idea to make sure Fudge didn't feel slighted by the hearing or that it was brought about without his knowledge.' Explained Malfoy the morning the article was published.
Harry then had received a letter from both Sirius and Remus that they were sent a letter by Narcissa Malfoy the day before the article was published. It explained the same thing but went into more detail of Lucius Malfoy deciding that it was pertinent to have the trial and learn the truth of the events. Remus had confided in Harry that Sirius was quite confused that he received any sort of help from the Malfoys even if his first cousin was the Lady Malfoy. Neither Harry nor Remus could tell him why they did what they did, but they decided it was best to just be grateful of the assistance and leave it at that.
'Dumbledore was right when he told to me about the Malfoys becoming quite the interesting family since the war.' Harry thought as he made his way to class. Today was history and he was likely going to mull over his thoughts as Professor Binns droned on about whatever today's subject was.
Another change in the time since Sirius's release was that Harry no longer was in control of the Black accounts or vaults. Harry still had the heir ring, though he no longer wore it since there was no need. He felt a bit irritated that if he wanted something from the vault he would have to go through Sirius, but he was sure that he could get what he wanted if he asked.
A hiss from behind him broke Harry from his thoughts and caused him to fall behind the rest of his classmates. He waited as a group of first years passed as well, they had just finished their History class right before his.
"I have returned, speaker." The Python hissed after a while. "I have learned a great many things. The land you live is known as Hogwarts! It is a school for magicals like yourself."
Harry blinked and sighed, "I know that already! Have you learned about what we spoke of?"
The snake coiled in on itself, "I indeed have learned. I know that the male you spoke of, Theodore Nott, is looking for something, he says his father gave him a mission and it was a failure after a night you call Halloween. He is interested in the people known as Weasley at the moment and speaks of a family known as Malfoy. You are not brought up when I listen."
Harry mulled over that, he knew from Blaise that Lucius Malfoy and Nott Senior have been in a sort of feud for a few years and it would stand to reason that it would extend to their children. Though he didn't understand what the Weasley's had to do with it. He would have to look closer or pay attention to what was happening. Additionally, he didn't understand what Halloween had to do with it.
"Anything else?" Asked Harry.
"The great queen is somewhere, but I cannot find her! Nor a path to her! I must continue my journey." The Python left without another word.
Harry stood there for a moment trying to think when a voice broke him from his thoughts.
"Harry Potter!" Shouted a shocked first year Gryffindor. "I've been wanting to meet you but, uh, I need to go!"
Harry frowned, the boy was young, blond and looked nervous and even a bit scared. Did he hear him speaking to the snake? That wouldn't be good. He was likely running back to his common room after his class just ended.
"Hey!" Harry shouted but was stopped when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
It was another Gryffindor but this one was older and had a prefect badge. It was a boy with brown hair and a serious look on his face but nothing beyond to signify he had ill feelings towards him. "Second year Slytherins are to be in History, come Potter, I will also be taking five points."
With that he was escorted to class and all hope of catching the first year gone. Hopefully he didn't hear anything.
The kid heard something.
Harry noticed that as the day progressed more and more people were giving him strange looks in the halls, during dinner it was the worst as many kept blatantly staring at him. Harry wasn't sure what was going on and asked Blaise who only said, 'We'll talk in the common room.'
Not very reassuring.
Here they were and he was in front of the entire Slytherin house, all compacted into the common room. Harry finally had faces to the names he had heard about regarding the leadership of his house.
The third-year leader, Victoria Valentine, a pretty blond hair girl with a family background in healing looked at him with a slight smirk.
The fourth-year leader, Alexander Hearthfell, who Harry was already friends with gazed at him with an interested expression. He was in casual clothes and didn't look to upset but seemed interested and patient.
The fifth-year prefects, Ella Wilkins and Alexander Maroon, were sat in chairs with disinterested frowns. Although Harry would admit that he didn't think they were genuine. Ella's usually pretty face was muted as she watched what was happening, while Alexander didn't have notable features other than his ebony hair.
The sixth-year prefects, Estella Graves and Jackson Marlow were leaning against the back of the room watching but not looking to interfere. Estella was a dark-haired witch who in most instances had welcoming smiles on her face, at the moment she was expressionless. Marlow was a blond-haired boy who seemed more irritated at the situation but didn't look to want to interfere.
Finally, there were the seventh-year prefects. Corvis Crowley, an intimidating boy with short brown hair and sharp features sat in a large chair looking at him. The girl, Lucilla Rosier, had curly black hair and high cheek bones signifying her aristocratic blood line, she leaned her head on a manicured hand as she watched Harry enter the common room.
"I suspect that everyone isn't here to ask about my holiday plans?" Harry asked trying to break the tension.
A few chuckles and snorts were heard but for the most part many just kept looking.
It was the fourth-year leader, Alexander, whom Harry would call a friend that spoke. "We have heard some rumors throughout the day, Harry. Is it true that you are capable of speaking to snakes?"
Harry felt like cursing the kid that snuck up on him and Python. The brat didn't even wait a day before blabbing!
"Why do you ask?" Asked Harry.
"You were seen hissing at a snake, while the rumors don't all agree on the target of your hissing it is apparent enough what is happening." Said Lucilla with a lazy wave of her hand, "Yes or no, Potter."
"Yes." Grunted Harry.
Gasps and shocked murmurs were heard around the room as the house of snakes had a speaker for the first time in recent history. Harry was sure that the last one was Riddle, though he wasn't sure how many in the room besides him knew that.
Corvis Crowley stood from his chair and brandished his wand, "Prove it." With a flourish a snake was spat onto the floor in front of Harry.
"So many. Whom I to strike?" The snake hissed into the air.
Harry mentally groaned, "Do not strike anyone." He told it, causing shocked sounds from the wizards around him at his declaration and he took a calming breath.
The snake lowered its head, "A speaker!" It hissed before being banished by Crowley.
"So, it's true," Hummed Crowley, "Very well, I suppose we should have expected some interesting things from you, hm? Second year leader, vanquisher of the Dark Lord, heir to the Potter family and now this, a Parselmouth. You are full of surprises, aren't you?" With that the leader of the seventh year stalked away with a small smile on his face.
His example was followed although some gave him reapproving glances, particularly a sixth year who had been vocally against him being Slytherin's seeker since he's a halfblood. Maybe this could be a good thing for his rep, at least within Slytherin. He's sure that everywhere else he was going to be seen as a dark wizard in training.
After a while it was just him left in the common room with Blaise, Tracey and Daphne. The rest going to their groups or rooms, Draco giving him a nod before he rushed to his room.
"That was intense." Harry said as he laid back into the sofa. "I thought more would come of that, not sure what though."
Blaise smirked, "You didn't think they'd declare you king or something? That would be ridiculous, you're far from the first Parselmouth to immerge in this house. Just the first in a while."
"I should tell you that there were some of the older students saying things about your mother." Said Tracey, "That she must have some magic in her ancestry as the Potters weren't related to Slytherin in any way."
Harry frowned, "I wouldn't know." He admitted, "But I do know that there have been Parselmouths in the Black family before and my paternal grandmother was a Black." It was where he expected it came from.
"For now, we'll see what happens. There was a very loud majority that didn't even believe the rumors in the first place." Explained Daphne, "The whole house was here because they wanted to see for themselves."
"But keep this in mind." Said Blaise, "If there were those that didn't like for your blood status, they're reevaluating their opinions about you now that you have a direct link to our founder. Going against you, at least while the news is still fresh, would be quite stupid on anyone's part."
Hogwarts – December 15. 1992
Harry ignored the couple of first years that skittered away from him as he walked out of the great hall towards Transfiguration with a small groan. Since the revelation of him being a Parselmouth was made public thanks to the infamous Hogwarts rumor mill, Harry hadn't seen much change other than suspicious looks or the occasional frightened first year Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.
Harry was assured by Hermione that Ravenclaw, in classic Ravenclaw fashion, had held a big discussion about Parselmouths and the history of the language. The house of wit and logic isn't one for superstitions, so he didn't have to worry about them.
He was almost to the Transfiguration classroom when he ran into Neville Longbottom.
"Potter." He said lowly, "Seems like you're showing your true colors."
Harry turned to him with a tilted head, "Funny considering before I pitied you enough to help you study and get a wand, you were nothing but a coward and incompetent wizard. Who's showing their true colors between us?" Not as subtle as he would have wanted to go at Longbottom, but he wasn't going to be talked down to by the witless wonder when he's already irritated.
Neville's eyes widened in shock, "You think-"
"No, Neville, I wouldn't dare." Harry interrupted before entering the classroom.
It was the classic Gryffindor and Slytherin double Transfiguration period. Harry made his way to the middle of the class and took a spot next to Draco. Blaise having partnered with Daphne while Tracey was with Pansy.
"Did you manage to actually get two feet on the transfiguration of animal to goblet?" Draco asked with irritation, "I had to write a tad large to fill the space, I don't know how much I can reference intent and visualization."
"You could reference the spell's uses in different situations and ways you can change it." Harry added, "I mentioned that it was more a small animate to inanimate spell that was heavily inclined to what was mentioned in the text, but I was able to change a bird into a hairbrush."
"Really?" Draco asked in shock, "I was under the impression that spells did what they were detailed to do and nothing more."
Harry shrugged, "It is certainly difficult, but I managed it. I get bored with some of the spells we're learning these days. So, I mess around sometimes."
Before more conversation could be had, Professor McGonagall entered the room briskly silencing all conversation.
"Welcome everyone! Today will be a review day before midterms. I will not tell you the spell I expect you to perform but I will go over all the spells that are a possibility." She announced before launching into a description of several spells, some of which were from the book, but they never covered in class.
Harry spent his time flipping through the textbook and giving Draco a demonstration of spells that he didn't know, the class went well for a while.
Until. Ring! Ring! Ring!
There was a loud bell that surprised everyone, Harry thinking it was the Weasley twins didn't react, but he noticed that Professor McGonagall's face tightened.
"Do not leave this classroom or I will personally see to your punishment!" With that warning she left in a hurry.
Harry looked down with a frown, "I've never heard that bell before, I assumed it was the Weasley twins."
"It's a sort of alert for the staff, something must have happened." Mused Draco, "My father will tell me in his next letter if we don't hear about it."
Harry nodded absentmindedly; Lucius Malfoy was on the board of directors for Hogwarts, so he'd hear of anything drastic happening. It was ten minutes before the class devolved into a discussion about what was happening, no one knew anything, so it was more wild theories than anything. But it wasn't like they could focus on class work with something like this going on.
Over an hour later a tired and upset McGonagall returned, everyone quickly rushed to their seats and waited to hear what happened.
"A first year was found cursed and poisoned." She announced gravely, "I only tell you this since I know this school has a proclivity of producing wild rumors."
"Who was it, Professor?" Asked Pavarti Patil.
McGonagall sighed but answered, "Colin Creevey, he is one of my first years."
The Gryffindors looked angry but it was Neville that shot Harry a glare.
"What?" Harry asked with a frown.
"I think it's strange is all." Neville said angrily, "Colin discovers you're a Parselmouth and then he ends up cursed and poisoned."
The Gryffindors exchanged looks and grew weary of him while the Slytherins glared at Neville for his accusations, particularly Blaise who never hid his dislike of the boy.
"I didn't even know that kids name until now," Growled Harry while shooting to his feet, "Don't think so highly of yourselves that you or some first year occupy so much of my thoughts!"
"Really! -" Neville started before he was silenced.
"That's enough!" Roared McGonagall, "Mr. Longbottom that will be ten points and detention with me! Let me say this, such accusations are very serious, and I will not allow them to be tossed around so easily!"
Harry sat down with a grunt not looking at anyone. This was just what he needed, some kid that he was irritated at was attacked right after so many thought him a dark wizard due to the Parselmouth revelation. The poison certainly didn't help the situation either.
The only saving grace was that he was going to be leaving for the holiday soon. Hopefully Sirius and Remus could help him out in some way. Or at least distract him for a while so he wouldn't have to think about it.
Arriving back in the common room after such a hectic day let Harry decompress on the couch in his corner. The others gathered around, save for Millicent and Nott who weren't in the common room yet.
"I heard that Colin was going to be in the hospital for a while but should be good by the next start of term." Said Tracey.
"Who'd you hear that from, Davis?" Asked Draco with a frown.
"A friend of mine in Hufflepuff, she was in the hospital this afternoon and overheard it."
Harry grunted, "But why would someone attack a first year? This wasn't some accident this was targeted, but who would hate this Creevey kid so much? He's a muggleborn right?"
No one had an answer to that, but Pansy commented, "I will say that Longbottom did have a point, if Colin was the one to tell everyone about your Parselmouth ability it doesn't look good for you."
"You don't seriously think that?" Harry asked in surprise, he didn't know Pansy that well, but he was sure that they knew him well enough by now to know he didn't do it.
Pansy shrugged, while Draco frowned at her. "I don't think he would curse someone like that, if he were to do it, I doubt they'd find the victim." He explained.
"Exactly, Harry is way too smart to leave a body to find." Said Daphne, "But I want to know more about this Colin Creevey, who is he? Until we learn more about him, we won't know more about why he was attacked."
"This is really too convenient." Harry said with a frown. "This Colin kid tells the whole school I'm a Parselmouth then he gets attacked right after. Not to mention the person used poison on top of a curse. If they wanted to attack this Colin kid, why both? It seems like the attack was planned but the poison wasn't, to me at least."
"That's a good point." Agreed Blaise, "It just seems like too much effort for a first year."
Harry stood up and stretched, "I'm going to go take a walk."
Leaving the common room Harry made his way to his study room to get some time to think about what was going on alone. It wasn't too long a walk to his room, but he did notice that the paintings were a bit more alert than normal. Some of them asking where he was going and what he was doing. Harry told them he was going to study and nothing more, he knew that Dumbledore would know what he was doing and where, so he wasn't worried.
Back on the first floor Harry was almost to his room when he heard a commotion on the other end of the hallway.
Before he made his way down the hall, he pulled his cloak out of his pocket and hid under it. Now invisible Harry stalked closer to the sounds of talking.
"This is too suspicious I tell you." The pompous voice of Lockhart said. "That Potter is revealed as a Parselmouth and now young Colin is attacked. If she hadn't stayed behind in my class, then Ms. Weasley could have been as well."
Harry peered around the corner to see several of the professors examining the wall. All four heads of houses, Lockhart and Dumbledore.
"I trust you aren't insinuating that Potter is responsible for this attack." Snape asked with a sneer on his face.
He was about to say more when Dumbledore interrupted, "Severus please." Snape stopped, "I know that it would seem like these events correlate, but I strongly doubt Harry would be that petty. Not to mention that he has proven to be far too clever for such obvious action."
"Correct you are Headmaster, I felt it was necessary to eliminate the obvious." Lockhart blustered without convincing anyone.
Harry groaned mentally, of course the idiotic teacher would be just as clever as Longbottom, who at least had the excuse of being twelve for immediately suspecting him. Snape clearly looked like he wanted to say more but held his tongue.
However, news to him was the possible inclusion of Weasley. Harry guessed that the two first years were friends, so they could have been right by each other during the attack in normal circumstance. But the question of why a first year was being targeted still didn't make any sense.
"I believe I understand the curse now," Announced Dumbledore while putting his wand away, "It is a dark form of Petrificus Totalus that is easily countered. It isn't the most dangerous spell; it could be casted by a determined fourth year I believe. However, I would wager on it being a fifth year or higher. What have we learned about the area around the location?"
Professor Sprout answered, "There is residual magic, which leads me to believe that the caster didn't have too much control over the spell."
"I agree, whoever used the spell, didn't have the intent to fully control the spell. They are either inept at spells of this nature or this was a spur of the moment attack." Added Snape with a sneer.
"But what of the poison?" Professor McGonagall asked.
"I am having trouble identifying what kind of poison it is, very rare but not lethal." Snape answered. "This wasn't a poison that can just be bought anywhere, whoever had it is well off and connected."
"I will be able to get the ingredients you need to cure it once you identify it, Severus." Sprout said with a reassuring smile.
"I don't think we can learn any more about the attack from this location." Announced Dumbledore, "Severus I trust you will discover the poison soon."
Snape gave a single nod before rushing off, the other professors following similar action. However, before Harry could turn around…
"Harry, a word please." Called Dumbledore.
Harry cursed to himself before removing his cloak, "How'd you know professor?"
"I am the master of the castle," explained Dumbledore with a smile, "When there are many in the halls, I am unable to differ between each but in an empty hallway I could recognize you before you put on that cloak."
"That makes sense," Harry said to himself, "Thank you for knowing that I didn't do this."
"Of course, my boy. I know that you aren't the type to attack someone like this. I doubt you would attack anyone at this school unless under very specific circumstance. I do, however, must ask if there is anything you wish to tell me? I am not alone in finding the situation very strange."
Harry rubbed his forehead, "I had no idea about the curse till I overheard you but based on what you said it could have been anyone. The poison on the other hand is interesting." Harry mused, "I wouldn't be shocked if the poison was added at the last moment after people found out I could talk to snakes to try and pin it on me, or at the very least make it confusing."
"I agree." Said Dumbledore, "Have you ever spoke to or heard things about Mr. Creevey before he discovered your ability?" He asked.
"No sir. I don't know many first years, the only ones I do are in my house."
"I would ask that if you find out anything more that you tell me immediately." Dumbledore said to which Harry nodded, "Good, now I know you were likely going for some alone time, but I'll ask you to return to your common room."
Not happy that his time alone was being cut short Harry still had to return and did so quickly. This was proving to be quite confusing. All he could do was go about his time in school normally and keep his head to the ground.
London – December 20. 1992
"That's everything that happened, after I heard about the situation from the Professor's my friends and I just kept our heads down." Explained Harry.
Remus looked thoughtful while Sirius was pacing in the living room. Harry quite liked the flat that Sirius rented, it was a three-bedroom two bath with a nice view of the city. It was clearly quite high end based on all the new furnishings and Harry was sure Sirius was having fun spending some of that Black fortune.
"I don't like it. It seems like someone was trying to frame you." Sirius grunted while glaring at the floor, "Have you upset someone enough to do that?"
Harry grimaced, that could be quite the list depending on who was asked. There are those in his house that didn't like him for blood purity, or his ability out shining theirs, or because he was at the top of his year and they wanted to take him down. Or Nott for their feud, Wallace and his gang because he embarrassed them in the duel. Neville due to their arguing, although Harry would admit that he doubted Neville was competent enough to pull this off.
"There are one or two." Harry admitted sheepishly, "But I couldn't tell you who would curse a first year to do it."
"I am a bit more concerned that a Defense Professor would suspect you, Harry." Said Remus with a frown on his face. "Anyone who has spent any sort of time with you should know that you aren't the type."
Remus rubbed his forehead tiredly, "In our day, there weren't such things to worry about, and that's saying something." He mused with a laugh.
Harry wasn't sure what he was referring to though he did agree with his main point.
"I don't like it either that there are things like this going on. But I'm going to continue on the path my friends and I decided. Keep our heads down and eyes peeled, nothing else to do unfortunately."
"Well, I think it's time we move on to better topics!" Started Sirius with a clap. "We have a marvelous holiday planned, we'll have Christmas here then go visit Andy and the Tonks's for dinner. Other than that, we have a few weeks to spend together!"
Harry grinned, that was better than any holiday he's had so far. "That sounds brilliant, but I was hoping that we could take a trip to Gringotts later? I was hoping to borrow a book from your vault if I could?"
Sirius's face soured, "Why? Those books don't have much in them that you should be learning."
Harry sighed, "I've already been going through the vault after your will was read, I had a few I was planning to read, some battle magics that were too much for me last year. I had planned to go back but I don't have the vault anymore."
Sirius looked hesitant but was saved from responding by Remus, "Let's not worry too much about school or studying, let's try to enjoy our holiday!"
Harry could only nod, feeling a bit irritated that such a trove of knowledge now had someone standing in front of it that didn't look too thrilled about someone using it.
Dinner came and went, and Harry decided to go to his room for a while. It was a large bedroom, easily twice the size of his at the Dursley's and had a full-sized bed, desk, dresser, side tables, and walk-in closet.
There wasn't much planned for the night, so Harry was just going to read a bit from Adrian's Adventure Guide and relax. He was taken from his musings by Hedwig appearing in the window, Harry rushed over to open it and she floated his letter towards him. He gave her some soft stokes before opening the letter.
Ah, it was from High Master Avogadro. Took him long enough to get back to him, he'd sent Hedwig with a reply back in October.
Greetings,
First, I must apologize for not getting back to you in such a long time, but it is rare for me to have so much new material to work with, so I lost focus on anything but my research. However, that does not excuse my near three-month silence.
Regardless.
Meeting with Hedwig has helped me understand her species a bit more and I have asked if she would not be opposed to visiting every few months, she of course didn't respond in a way I would understand but I'm hopeful. I also thank you for the gift of feathers, young Potter. Those are gifts I have longed for since I exhausted my supply in the early 80's. From my understanding of Lunistia feathers they possess 13 lunar properties normally or 7 on the full moon. Their parts, like their feathers, don't lose that potency even if removed from the body.
If you are wondering what properties I speak of, I would suggest you look into arithmancy, for the properties are not literal but more a numerical representation of their magical significance. Again, arithmancy would teach you more of that in a more in-depth fashion.
As the one I have to thank for these opportunities I will give you an update on my findings. I have managed to alter my creation, the Wolfsbane Potion, to interact with the addition of Lunistia feathers. The effects are quite marvelous, while I have no test subject, I suspect that near if not complete lucidity can be achieved while transformed with this new potion. I will of course require many different tests to be sure, as well as a test subject, I am of course hopeful that I am making headway towards my life's ambition.
Once again, I must extend my gratitude,
Thank you, Harry Potter,
Alejandro Avogadro High Master of Potions.
Harry folded the letter up and smiled, at least someone was having a good time out there…and didn't think him some sort of deranged dark wizard. This was also going to be good news for Remus.
Now that he thought about it, Harry hadn't written to Nicholas in a while, the last time was regarding the diary and whether the immortal knew anything about Tom Riddle.
Harry went over to the desk and began writing. Telling the immortal about his time and apologizing about not reaching out recently. He made sure to mention the time he spent on conjuring stone, having just managed to make a piece of granite as big as himself right before the end of term, although he needed to polish his control as the stone wasn't of the best possible quality. He talked about the two Bludgers targeting him, his Parselmouth abilities, his correspondence with Master Avogadro, the hearing with Sirius and the events in the school with Colin.
Finished the letter with a flourish of his feather he sealed the envelope and set it down on the desk.
"Hedwig, the letter is for Nicholas, you can leave in the morning if you want." He told his familiar.
Hedwig cooed at him and he felt himself being lifted up.
"Whoa! Hedwig! Wait!" Shouted Harry as he was lifted over to his bed.
As soon as he was over the center he was released, landing with a bounce then he felt the impact of several pillows hitting him. He felt a wave of amusement wash over him and knew that it was from Hedwig, he wasn't sure if their bond was getting stronger or if she was, but he was getting to the point where he was able to understand her, or at least her feelings. Harry was excited to see how it developed.
London – December 25. 1992
Christmas with Sirius and Remus turned out to be quite interesting, Sirius was just as much a kid as Harry was, maybe even more so since Sirius actually showed off how excited he was openly. Remus was the calm adult in the house, managing to reign in Sirius and making sure Harry participated in everything.
From Sirius, Harry received a journal from his father detailing the man's thoughts on Transfiguration. From simple spells he'd altered or highly complex ones he used during the war. It may not be the book Harry wanted from the Black vault, but it was plenty good enough and he wasn't ashamed of the small wetness he felt in his eyes when he received it from Sirius.
Remus gifted him a broom polishing kit that he was in dire need of. Harry thanked the man who was busy stuttering at the gifts he received from Harry and Sirius.
Harry had gifted him a voucher to Timothy's Tailor Shop for twenty-five galleons. While Sirius had given him a new trunk that was of the highest possible quality that had several powerful expansion charms on it.
Harry gave plenty of gifts to those he felt were good enough friends to warrant one.
First was to Hagrid, this time it was a new set of dragonhide gloves and boots, both having to be custom made to fit his large frame. They weren't cheap but Harry felt the gentle giant deserved something nice that he'd use every day. In return Harry received a hand carved flute, it was nice, but Harry didn't know how to play it, so it was going to be an ornament for the time being.
Harry had been given two gifts from the Zabini's; Blaise gave him a displayer of the International U17 Transfiguration championship duel.
A displayer is an ingenious wizarding invention that was new to Harry. It's an oval shaped stand that was enchanted with a memory that, like its name suggested, displayed for people to view. It was a sort of mass produced pensive that only worked for one memory, many sporting events sold displayers a few weeks after the events took place.
From Caterina Zabini he was gifted a white gold necklace with the Potter family crest. It was a subtle piece of jewelry that didn't overly display how much it cost. Apparently, it was made with metal that was good for enchanting, so Harry was quite pleased with the gift.
In return Harry sent Blaise a copy of his notes on certain spells, handwritten from his journal. Not the most expensive of gifts but one that he was sure was appreciated. No one but Harry has ever seen his notes from his personal journal but now he's gifted a few of them. To Caterina he gave her a vintage old-world wine from Italy, hoping that it was something she would like. Harry would be the first to admit he knew little about such things.
He got an informative book on healing from Tracy, likely from her mother as well. From Daphne he got a set of ingredients for potions that were not widely sold. Harry carefully stored those for when he'd need them. In return he gave the girls a voucher for Timothy's as well, for ten galleons each.
Hermione sent Harry a homework planner that made him snort in amusement while he sent her a voucher for the bookstore in Diagon Alley, something he was sure would be her preferred gift.
Shockingly, or maybe not in hindsight, Harry received a gift from the Weasleys. It being a hand knitted sweater with a large H in the center. While the material wasn't of the highest quality and didn't look as nice as his normal clothes; it was a thoughtful gift that was somehow warmer than most of the others he'd received. Harry in return sent the twins the same ten galleons as last year with a note for them to prank Nott a few times and leave him out of their next big Slytherin prank. Maybe it was less a gift and more a bribe?
Harry was happy he gifted Draco a wizard's chess set so that he didn't slight the Malfoys when their unexpected gift arrived. It was a very fine set of robes that Harry noticed were not of any shop in Diagon Alley, likely from out of country.
The Malfoys were playing an interesting game, first helping Sirius now giving him Christmas gifts. Harry wasn't sure what they were doing but he was going to keep an eye on them. He hadn't ruled out the Malfoys in having something to do with Colin due to the fact that Ginny could have been caught if it hadn't been for chance. It wasn't a secret that Lucius and Arthur have it out for each other, only becoming worse after the raids over the summer.
Arriving at the Tonks home was quite the experience as it was the first time Harry had been side-along apparated. Not something he'd want to experience again.
The house was located just outside of London, with a bit of space between their house and the neighbors, all of whom were muggles. Theirs was a modest single-story home with a stone walkway leading to the red front door. Shrubs lined the front of the house with a pristine lawn shining in the midday sun. The right side of the house had a lush garden with all sorts of vegetables, plants and flowers. The curtains were pulled open allowing them to see the warm atmosphere of the home as they walked up, there were soft lights and a large fully decorated Christmas tree in the living room.
"Andy always knew how to decorate." Mused Sirius, "Been a while since I've seen little Dora or Ted."
Remus and Harry followed as he walked up to the door and knocked. A moment later Andromeda Tonks opened the door with a pleased smile. The woman was in a bright green sweater with holiday patterns and flowing red skirt. Harry was stunned as always when he saw her, she was one of the most beautiful women he'd ever seen, high cheekbones, full lips, curly black hair and bright blue eyes that were full of life.
"Happy Christmas!" She cheered, "Welcome Sirius, Harry and good to see you as well Remus!"
She usured the three of them into the house with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Upon entering Harry was hit by the incredible smell of her cooking. He had to force himself not to ask when they were going to eat because if it were up to him it would be immediately.
"We're all in the sitting room, come!" She said and led them into the house.
In the room sitting on the sofa was Ted Tonks, the large man lounging comfortably with a warm holiday sweater and an easy smile as Nymphadora Tonks regaled him with her time at work. The young woman was in the same sweater as her mother but with black leather pants, her hair was in a short light red bob cut.
"-then the fool had the nerve to ask if I knew the counter curse! I was top of the training program from the start and he knew it, so I think he was trying to make me look bad in front of Mr. Scrimgeour!" She complained while her hair was slowly becoming a more and more angry red.
"Nymphadora leave your father alone." Said Andromeda when she entered the room with the three men trailing behind, "Come greet our guests."
"Sirius!" Shouted Tonks as she rocketed forward and pulled Sirius into a tight hug, her hair changing back to the bright pink she favored. "I'm so happy you aren't a murdering psycho!"
"Nymphadora!" Shouted Andromeda while Sirius roared with laughter.
"So am I!" Sirius laughed.
Nymphadora winced at the look her mother sent her while trying to fight the grin that was threatening to take over her face. However, when she saw Harry, she lost that fight and ran over to smother him in a tight hug.
"Ickle little Harry!" She cooed in a baby voice. "I've missed my favorite moving target!"
Harry groaned at the reminder of their practice duels when she helped him learn the Shield Charm. It was a time of constant Stinging Jinxes and Stunners while she laughed at all his attempts at trying to hit her. Not something he liked remembering.
"Happy Christmas Tonks." Harry said into her neck due to the tight hug she was giving him.
Upon being released Harry straightened out his clothes out while Tonks looked at the third person who entered. She gave Remus a smile and extended a hand.
"Tonks, Just Tonks." She emphasized.
Remus took her hand and shook, "Remus Lupin." He said with a smile.
"Her name's Nymphadora." Harry whispered, "She hates it though."
Unfortunately, Tonks heard him and snapped her wand out to send him a Stinging Jinx that cracked against his bum. He yelped before swiping a hand at her to throw her onto the couch getting a yelp of shock out of her. Meanwhile Ted, Remus and Sirius were laughing at them while Andromeda was rubbing her forehead tiredly, this being the first time she's seen the two of them interact.
"You can do wandless magic?" Tonks asked in astonishment.
Harry, still rubbing his bum nodded, "Yeah, I figured out that the trace only works on wanded magic. So, I practiced it last summer."
"You're such a nerd." Laughed Tonks. "How you're not in Ravenclaw I'll never understand."
"He's bookish and studies more than he needs to, but Harry is quite the cunning wizard." Sirius said with a grin, "He helped me recover by discretely hiring a doctor that worked in the muggle world to look after me before my trial."
"Didn't take him long to think something was up either." Added Ted, "He told Dromeda and Dumbledore he thought something was up as soon as he heard the will. Good on you to have such a childish reference to your gang in your will making it seem out of character for a devious death eater." Ted said with a laugh.
Andromeda slapped him lightly on the arm in response but didn't say anything.
"It wasn't a gang!" Sirius shouted in his defense.
It was everyone in the room besides Harry that gave him a look, Harry not knowing enough about the Marauders to really have any feelings about it.
"Okay fine," He relented, "But we got better towards the end."
"Indeed, you all did!" Said Andromeda before more discussion could be had.
The Tonks family had the two Marauders and Harry gather around the tree where they began exchanging gifts. As the youngest, Harry opened his gifts first, getting one from each Tonks member.
From Andromeda he received a knitted scarf that was the same green as his eyes with silver ends as she was clearly showing her Slytherin pride. He wrapped it around his neck and gave her a quick thank you.
Ted had given Harry a set of trainers, "You always wear those dress boots, they may look nice, but I doubt they're too comfortable for everyday life. Those are for your everyday life, more comfortable and stylish – in my opinion at least."
Harry didn't mention that he bought the dress boots because they were his first real purchase for himself. Then over time he had gotten used to wearing them, even for regular events that didn't require dress attire. So, Harry decided to throw on the trainers and gave the man a grin when he tried them out. They were quite comfortable.
Last was Tonks who gave him a box of sweets. "Eat some candy!" She shouted playfully. "You're too serious all the time be a second year!"
Harry rolled his eyes at the girl and put the candy down next to him, he wasn't familiar with all of it, but he would give them all a try.
From there all the adults opened at the same time, Harry grumbling that they didn't have to wait for him went unheard, each cheering happily for their gifts. Notable stand out was Harry's gift to Nymphadora, a set of bracelets that were said to give the wearer more balance much to her embarrassment and everyone else's amusement.
As the time spent with the Tonks Family continued Harry relaxed more and more as for the first time in his life, he experienced a true family Christmas. Considering, as unfortunate as it was, he didn't remember the first year of his life with his parents.
Sirius was never too far from him for the whole day and was always more than happy to include Harry in their conversations, often times even bragging about his abilities to everyone. Harry for the first time in his life was being embarrassed by a member of his family bragging about him rather than complaining.
It was, after a bit of thought, quite the nice feeling.
End Chapter.
So, about 11k words for this chapter and quite the movement along with the plot for year 2. I'm going to try to wrap it up quickly because year 3 I have so much planned for in regard to the overall plot of the story, but I don't want to rush everything just to get there.
Let me hear your thoughts on the chapter.
Also, small side note, I have as of right now gone back over chapters 1-8 and edited and changed some things. Nothing drastic that would change the story overall but hopefully some things will make a bit more sense. I would love if you guys give me some feedback and if there were grammar errors still there to let me know.
Story Challenge:
I have a challenge for a story of a Harry that has made it through Hogwarts with little to no Voldemort interference, first and second years are the only ones allowed at the most. The point of the story is for a Harry that has a full magical education before the re-birth of Voldemort. You can have Harry in any house, he can be a loner or similar to canon, apprentice to Albus or just a normal student. The point of the story is a more war focused plot with Harry being attacked and attacking Death Eaters throughout the world while trying to uncover the secrets of Voldemort along side Dumbledore without the safety of Hogwarts to rely on.
Stipulations:
Harry's parents are still dead. Sirius is still on the run. Harry is BWL. Don't care about ship, but don't make it the focus of the story.
