Face ran to the steps of Hannibal's recently acquired house that they were sharing. He hadn't had the most wonderful Valentine's Day to say the least. His girlfriend stood him up. Then it started pouring rain while he was walking to his Vette to drive home. By the time he got to the doorstep he was soaked. Face was about to unlock the door when someone opened it. That certain someone was his adopted father, Hannibal Smith. "What are you doing here? I thought you had a date with Maggie," asked Face. "I should be asking you the same thing," replied Hannibal. "What happened? And you're soaked! Come in here before you get a cold," mothered Hannibal. "Dad, I'm fine," whined Face right before he sneezed. "As you were saying," chuckled Hannibal as he ushered Face to the medicine cabinet to get him some Tylenol. Then Face changed into some dry clothes and joined his father on the couch where he wrapped a blanket around his son. "Thanks," said Face as he sneezed again. "Alright, what happened tonight?" "You know Nicole?" "Ah, yes, your latest love interest." "Well she stood me up." "Oh. sorry about that, Kid. Is there anything I can do?" "There's nothing anyone can do. It's over. Here's the note she left me at the restaurant." Hannibal began to read aloud, "Dear, Face, I'm sorry it had to come to this. You're just never around. It's time I've moved on to someone who could really love me. Sincerely, Nicole." "That's basically what happened," said Face sadly. "I guess love doesn't always work well when your time has to be spent more running from the MPs than being with your girlfriend," said Hannibal. "I guess so. Now why are you here?" "Maggie thought our relationship was going a little too fast," said Hannibal as he pulled out the refused wedding ring he had proposed to Maggie with. "Wow, it's beautiful, Dad," "Yeah, I thought so, too," said Hannibal depressively as he put the ring back into his pocket. "I'm sorry," said Face. "Don't be, it's not your fault, Tem. Hey, do you want some chocolate?" "What?" "I'd planned on giving them to Maggie." "I guess so," Face laughed causing his father to join him. They went to sleep that night curled up against each other with a half eaten box of chocolates on Hannibal's lap.
