A/N: I wanted a happy father-son moment, and thought this would be a great way to show it. Although, I will admit that this was inspired by the trouble with the water I've been having at home. Maybe I should do a rain dance and the water heater tank will be fixed? ( :
It was shortly after Zed had won the football game that confirmed the success of the Zombie integration program.
He had started his day like normal: got dressed, had breakfast with his dad and Zoey, talking about the coming school day. He was just on his way out the door when he noticed his flower growing in the front yard.
It was growing nicely, and he wanted it to continue doing so. It was nice to add a bit of beauty to the dusty, dirty Zombie neighborhood.
He picked up the house and turned it on, shocked when, instead of a single drop, a large blast of water came out of it.
Zed was shocked. Usually, water in their area was rarely consistent, always going out at unexpected times (including while they showered, which left whoever had been showering soapy and annoyed), and was never very clean.
But this water was the opposite.
"Dad!" he yelled over his shoulder. "Come out here and see this!"
The door opened and his dad rushed out. "What is it, son? Is something wrong?"
Zed shook his head. "The opposite, actually. We have more water!"
His dad stared in awe at the steady rush of water. "Well, would you look at that? I guess the humans kept their promise. They're finally treating us better."
Zed shut off the water, not wanting to waste anymore.
His dad hugged him, a proud smile on his face. "You did well, Zed. Thanks to you, equality is something more than an idea; it's something people are finally working towards."
Zed gave a bashful grin. "It's just water, dad."
But, still, he knew what his father meant, and it made him happier than anything to know that he had pleased his father, and brought more water to Zombie Town.
