Hannibal had decided he would sleep in this morning. Besides, it was Father's Day, he could treat himself. There were no missions planned today so it would be just him and a bed all morning, or so he thought.
At that moment, Face was planning on how he could surprise his father for today. He decided to do the front door attack as that was his father's favorite planning strategy.
He opened the door to his father's bedroom and pounced on the bed and shook his father awake, saying, "Dad! Dad! Dad! Wake up!" as he continued to shake him awake.
Hannibal immediately opened his eyes in shock as he looked into his son's bright blue eyes full of mischief, "I'm getting too old for this," he muttered to himself. "What's gotten into you?" he asked his son who was currently on top of him.
"I just wanted to say happy Father's Day!" Face exclaimed. "And you're not old. Well, maybe a little," he teased.
"Gee, thanks, Kid," he retorted playfully. "I love you and thank you but I'm going back to bed," Hannibal said as he hugged his son and gave him a small kiss on the head.
"Don't you want to open your card?" Face asked as he returned the hug.
"You didn't have to do that, Tem."
"Well, I wanted to," Face beamed.
He opened the card and the words inside warmed his heart at the bottom it said 'love, Tem,' in his best handwriting. "Aww, thanks, Kid," he said with a tear in his eye. 'No, I am definitely not going to cry!' he reassured himself. He put his hand on top of his son's and began to rub small circles on it.
"Are you cry-?"
"No," Hannibal quickly interjected.
"Sure…" Face teased.
"Alright, go on," Hannibal ushered him off the bed as Face put on a fake pout. "I love you!" he said as Face shut the door to his bedroom. He could hear his son softly laughing from outside. Hannibal placed the card on top of the nightstand and closed his eyes thinking of how he would always love his son.
