Chapter 7: Chloe's Big News

It was towards the end of Beca's world tour, she and Chloe were both ready to be home again, to spend some down time with their ever-so-adorable twins, Noah and Charlie. "I can't believe I have only five shows left," Beca said to Chloe as they got ready to leave their hotel room.

"Me neither. You know what they say: time flies when you're having fun," Chloe replied with a giggle.

They were currently in Melbourne, Australia. Beca's next two shows were there and then the last three were in Sydney. It had been an amazing experience, going on tour together as a family. As the last show approached however, both Beca and Chloe agreed that they were ready to be home.

"Can you believe how long we've been on the road for? Finally going home is gonna feel so surreal," Beca commented.

"Honestly, I don't want a coming home party like we threw for you last time you came back. I just want a calm night with my family." Chloe said as they walked to the elevator.

"You can say that again," Beca chuckled, pressing the button to open the elevator once they got to it.

Charlie and Noah both were taking a nap, sleeping soundly in their stroller as Chloe pushed them into the elevator. "What's been your favorite part of the tour so far?"

Beca paused for a moment to ponder her answer to Chloe's question. "Besides the performing, it has to be seeing all the fans in the crowd. I'm humbled by the knowledge that my music speaks to so many people."

"I'm so proud of you, babe," Chloe said as they made their way over to the car that would take them to the stadium.

"Thank you, Chlo. I couldn't have done any of this without you," Beca said, smiling and leaning over to give her wife a kiss on the cheek.

"And while we won't be having a major coming home party, I have my own little plans for us," Chloe mentioned as she put the twins in their car seat, sending one of her killer winks Beca's way.

Beca couldn't help the blush that appeared on her face when Chloe winked at her. "Oh really? Can I get a hint as to what those plans might be?"

"I bet you can use your imagination," Chloe whispered, holding Beca's hand and giving it a soft squeeze.

Beca just smirked back at Chloe before they got in the car and drove to Docklands Stadium. "It's such an honor to be playing here. So many stars have been here before me," Beca said as they pulled into the private parking deck.

"It's really big," Chloe said, gazing up at the stadium. "Did you play here on your last tour?"

Beca shook her head. "Last time I played at Rod Laver Arena, which has around 16,000 seats for concerts. This place can fit over three times as many people."

"This is very exciting," Chloe said, watching as they pulled into the stadium.

Once they had parked, Beca and company were escorted to her dressing room so she could start looking through different outfit options. "What are you thinking, babe?" The brunette asked.

"I've heard your songs at least a thousand times now, and I still am not sick of them," Chloe said as they sat in her dressing room.

Beca raised an eyebrow at Chloe's words. "Really? That's impressive. I'll admit that sometimes I get sick of singing them," she replied with a chuckle.

Chloe walked up behind her wife and hugged her from behind. "I love every single one of them, baby. And I love hearing them," she whispered, pressing a kiss to her wife's neck right under her ear. She then rested her head on Beca's shoulder.

Beca let out a contented sigh and leaned back into her wife's embrace. "I'm so glad you're here with me," the brunette whispered back.

"I wasn't going to miss another one of your tours, baby." Chloe said, holding Beca close to her. "I wouldn't have missed this for the world."

Beca smiled at Chloe's words, resting in her embrace for a few more moments. After that, the two women pulled away. "Want to help me pick my outfit for the show?" Beca asked.

"I'd love to, babe," Chloe stated before looking for a good combination. She picked out a black pair of jeans, a white shirt, some white converse and a plaid shirt to tie around Beca's waist. "You're such a rockstar, babe."

"I don't know if I've reached rockstar status yet, but thank you," Beca replied with a chuckle. She then turned to a mirror so she could look at the outfit Chloe had selected. "It's perfect, Chlo. Thank you so much."

"Just a couple more shows. I know that you're ready to be home, but are you going to miss touring?" Chloe asked softly.

Beca thought about Chloe's question for a few moments before answering. "There are some things I'll miss and other things I won't miss. I love traveling the world to perform for my fans, but it's tough to be on the road constantly. I can definitely use a break from the rigorous schedule," she stated.

"I bet. I know we'll make good use of your time off," Chloe said with a smile. "I know for sure."

"I can't wait to get back home and finally be able to relax with my family," Beca replied, smiling back at her wife.

That night after the concert, Chloe got a call from Benji. "Hey Benji," she said, yawning into the phone.

"Chloe, you are not going to believe this!" Benji exclaimed, his voice full of excitement.

"What is it, Benji?" Chloe asked, sitting up from resting her head on Beca's shoulder in the backseat of the car. It was close to midnight and they were on their way back to the hotel.

"I just got a call from Carl, and you know what he said?"

Chloe's breath hitched in her throat. Carl was their touring manager who worked with booking agents to secure shows. "What did he say?" She asked.

"A bunch of Broadway producers came to see 'Dear Evan Hansen' tonight," Benji started out, pausing to build the suspense. "They want to take it to Broadway, Chlo."

Benji's words didn't register with the redhead at first. "What?"

"They want to take it to Broadway," Benji repeated. "Our show is going to Broadway. We did it, Chloe. We made it."

Chloe started tapping Beca's shoulder rapidly. "Babe, babe. 'Dear Evan Hansen' is going to Broadway!" She said, her eyes welling up with happy tears.

Beca's jaw dropped. "No way! Are you serious?"

"What else did they say, Benji?" Chloe asked before putting Benji on speaker, needing to hear more.

"They said rehearsals will start once you and Beca get back from the world tour," Benji informed her. "They want the original cast, and they want to open in two months."

"Oh my god, this is huge. My show is going to Broadway?" Chloe asked, her heart beating fast and her happy tears falling down her cheeks.

"I would say I can't believe it, but I can. You put so much work into this show, and you deserve this. I'm so proud of you, baby," Beca stated while bringing Chloe in for a tight hug.

Chloe felt more tears fall down her cheeks. "Oh god, wow." Chloe said. "I'm at a loss for words," she stated with a smile on her face.

"I say this news calls for a celebration. What would you like to do?" Benji asked.

"Honestly, I'm so tired right now that all I want to do is sleep," Chloe said with a laugh before continuing the conversation. "But when I get back from Beca's tour, we will for sure celebrate. All of the cast and crew together."

"Sounds like a plan. Now you make sure you get some rest. We've still got a lot of work cut out for us," Benji stated.

"You're telling me," Chloe said before saying goodbye to Benji and putting her phone down. She then looked at their sleeping babies and then up at Beca. "We're going to Broadway."

"You're going to Broadway, baby. You did it," Beca said, a huge smile on her face as she leaned in to give Chloe a congratulatory kiss.

"Wow, I'm in shock." Chloe lay her head on Beca's shoulder. "Will you come to the opening night on Broadway?"

"Are you kidding me? I wouldn't miss your opening night on Broadway for anything in the world," Beca said, tilting her head to the side so it was leaning on Chloe's.

After another week, Beca's tour was over, and the Mitchell's were unpacking from their long journey in their house in LA. Chloe lay down on her back once she had finished unpacking. "I'm wiped out." She said picking up Noah and bringing him onto the bed with her.

"Tell me about it," Beca replied, chuckling as she did the same with Charlie. "Touring is one of the best parts of my job, but it's also the most exhausting part of my job."

Chloe smiled as Noah climbed on her chest. "It's so nice to be back home." She said with a happy sigh.

Noah let out a coo to voice his agreement with his mama. "Is that right, Noah? You're glad to be back home too?" Beca asked her son.

Charlie cooed as well, which made both of her mothers laugh and smile proudly. "Just the four of us, mmm," she hummed.

"I don't know about you, but I wouldn't have it any other way," Beca commented as their family spent some much-needed quality time together.

Once the twins were asleep, Chloe and Beca were cuddling in their bed, keeping the baby monitor on just in case the twins needed them. Chloe was laying down with Beca's head on her chest, her gentle fingers running through her wife's hair. "Hmmm, I've missed our bed," she whispered softly, enjoying the feeling of Beca's arms wrapped around her torso.

"Me too," Beca said as her head slowly moved up and down with the rising and falling of Chloe's chest. The brunette had her eyes closed and her arms around the redhead's waist. "I love you so much," she murmured.

"I love you too, baby." Chloe muttered softly. She then tucked Beca's hair away from her face. Then, absentmindedly Chloe said, "My show is going to Broadway. I never thought I'd hear those words coming out of my mouth."

"Really? I always thought I would hear you say those words one day. If I had to bet on any show to go to Broadway, I'd bet on yours every single time," Beca replied confidently.

Chloe smiled and then kissed Beca's forehead. "You're the best wife ever, did you know that?"

Beca couldn't help the huge smile that spread across her face when Chloe kissed her forehead. "I think you may have mentioned that before."

"Well you are." The redhead then closed her and took a deep breath. "What do you want to do?"

"I'm perfectly content doing what we are now. We haven't had a nice, quiet moment like this in a long time," Beca said, sighing happily as they lay there together.

"I missed our bed," Chloe said a few moments later. "It's so much more comfy than those hotel beds."

"Oh for sure. There's nothing like the first night sleeping in your own bed after being away for a long time," Beca replied, opening her eyes to gaze up at Chloe.

The redhead yawned softly and then smiled Beca's way. "Would you like to have a little date night once all of the jet lag wears off?"

"Of course I would, baby," Beca said, leaning up and giving Chloe a soft kiss on the lips.

"I figured it would be nice, considering the only dates we had during the tour lasted about ten minutes." Chloe mentioned with a smirk in Beca's direction.

Beca couldn't help but chuckle at Chloe's comment. "I mean, ten minutes is better than nothing," she pointed out.

"I know it is, I just want to go on a real, nice three hour date that ends with those ten minutes." Chloe winked.

"Well I'm sure we can work something out," Beca said, blushing a little when Chloe winked at her.

After a few more minutes of conversing, the two women fell asleep, wiped out from their trip. Chloe was happy to be back home, and she couldn't express how nice it was to be back in hers and Beca's king-sized bed.

Beca was the first to wake up the next morning, so she decided to make Chloe breakfast in bed. After carefully getting up so she didn't wake her wife, she went to check on the twins before heading to the kitchen and getting started.

Moments later, Chloe's alarm went off. She got up and went to check on the twins, who were just starting to wake up.

The young mother began to change their diapers and then brought into hers and Beca's room across the hall, getting back on the bed and watching them crawl around.

Beca was surprised when she returned to their room to see everyone awake. "Did I wake you all up? I tried to be really quiet."

"No, my alarm went off." Chloe smiled when she saw Beca had cooked some breakfast for her. "Awww, babe. This looks delicious."

"Only the best for my love," Beca replied with a smile. She sat down on the bed and chuckled when both Charlie and Noah crawled over to her. "Good morning! How did you two sleep?"

Charlie and Noah responded by cooing in an adorable manner. Chloe giggled and kissed their foreheads. "Thank you for breakfast, babe."

"Of course. Does it taste good?" Beca asked.

"It's divine, babe," Chloe said after taking a bite of her scrambled eggs. She had always loved Beca's cooking. The brunette was a lot better than she gave herself credit for.

"Good, I'm glad. Like I said, only the best for my love," Beca stated, leaning over and kissing Chloe on the cheek.

Later that day, Chloe and Beca took turns watching the twins so that the other could get a workout in to get rid of some jet lag. Chloe was currently running on the treadmill, breathing hard as she reached her thirtieth minute. After that she did some strength training, smiling when she looked out of the window of the mini gym in their house.

Beca was playing with Charlie and Noah since she had already worked out. They were currently playing one of the twins' favorite games, peek-a-boo. Beca beamed as she made her children laugh, for she loved to hear their laughter.

Charlie crawled over to her mother and climbed onto her lap, putting her hands on Beca's face, attempting to do hide and seek herself. It was quite adorable to watch, as Chloe looked on while doing some more strength.

Noah turned his head and saw Chloe watching them, so he squealed in delight. "Mama! Mama!" He called.

After seeing this motion, Chloe blew a kiss their way and smiled before continuing her workout.

The next week was the week where Beca and Chloe had to fly to New York to talk business."Dear Evan Hansen" was going to Broadway. They had decided to leave the kids with Jesse and Aubrey so that they could spend some time with their cousins.

Chloe was currently sitting in her seat in the private jet, her eyes closed. They had just taken off and had a three hour flight to New York. She saw Beca head into the bedroom, and she got up to follow her. "Hey babe," she said as she walked into the room.

Beca smiled when she heard Chloe's voice and turned to face her. "Hi baby, you excited?"

"So excited, and nervous." Chloe smiled. She wrapped her arms around Beca's shoulders, leaning her forehead against Beca's as well. "We have four hours before the biggest meeting of my life."

"Four hours until you blow everyone out of the water at the biggest meeting of your life," Beca corrected as a way of encouraging her wife. "You're going to knock their socks off, Chlo. I know you will."

The encouragement from her wife made Chloe smile and take a deep breath. "I love you." She said, kissing Beca's neck a couple times before placing her head on Beca's shoulder.

"I love you too, baby. Forever and always," Beca replied, smiling and sighing with content as Chloe's head rested on her shoulder.

"This is honestly so surreal. I never thought I would write a musical that made it to Broadway," Chloe said, sitting on the bed.

"But you did, and that's a hell of an achievement," Beca said, taking one of Chloe's hands in her own and intertwining their fingers.

Chloe smiled up at her wife. She then pulled Beca over to her, placing her hands on her waist. She then placed her forehead on Beca's stomach. "I'm really nervous," she whispered.

Beca leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to the top of Chloe's head. "That's okay, baby. It's good to be nervous. It'll keep you on your toes."

"If this meeting goes well, we may have to find a place in New York," Chloe said, looking up at Beca. "We may have to purchase or rent out an apartment, because if they take the show to Broadway, that means I'll be essential to help out the show together."

"Don't worry about that. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it, and I'll get it taken care of," Beca assured her wife.

Chloe pulled Beca close to her, just wanting to be near her beautiful partner. She then looked up and leaned in to kiss Beca, cupping her cheeks gently.

At first it was only meant to be a kiss of comfort, but neither of them broke away so Chloe began to lean into it some more. "Want to know a way you could keep me distracted from my nerves for the next thirty minutes?" She asked.

Beca knew what Chloe had in mind but decided to play along anyways. "Sure. What might that way be?" The brunette inquired.

Chloe smiled. She loved how after all this time, they were still able to be silly and play with each other. They were still making time for the two of them to be romantic and fun. "Lock the door, and maybe…" she started, running her hand along the zipper of Beca's leather jacket. "...give me head," she finished with a wink.

Beca smirked at Chloe's response. "That's a request I should have no problem accommodating," she said, leaning in for a quick kiss before going over and locking the door.

The two had had sex on an airplane before on their way back from Spain, and the two had really enjoyed it. Chloe scooted back onto the bed some more, biting her bottom lip as Beca walked back over. "You're the best wife in the world, you know that?"

"I'm flattered, but how can I be the best wife in the world when I'm married to you? Compared to me, you knock it out of the park," Beca countered, still smirking at Chloe.

"We're not having this coupley argument right now," Chloe said, shaking her head and giggling at her wife. "Please, just distract me, make me feel good."

Beca chuckled and leaned in to give her wife another kiss, this one longer and more passionate than the previous one. The brunette ran her hands up and down the redhead's sides, pulling her closer at the same time.

With every touch, Chloe began to sink into Beca's love. She just had such a soothing and entrancing way of making her feel good. "Mmm."

Beca broke the kiss and moved her lips to Chloe's neck, gently pressing her lips to her wife's skin to leave sweet kisses. "You like this?" She asked.

"It is very relaxing, baby. Plus, I love everything you do," Chloe murmured, closing her eyes and letting Beca have full control of the situation.

The sweet kisses Beca was leaving soon turned into hickeys that made the redhead moan in her ear. The brunette smirked each time this happened; it was one of her favorite sounds because it let her know that she was doing a good job.

Every time hickeys were sucked into Chloe's skin, the redhead moaned. "Mmmm, babe," she hummed, enjoying every second of it.

Beca ran her tongue over each hickey she left to soothe the love bites. Her hands started moving down Chloe's body, going from her sides to her thighs.

"Oh god," Chloe muttered, taking deep breaths. She felt herself continue to relax. Beca just knew how to help her decompress.

Beca then moved her lips to the weak spot behind Chloe's ear, sucking a couple hickeys into her skin before whispering, "Relax, baby. Let me take care of you."

Beca sure was taking care of Chloe in the best way possible. The famous producer had always been able to keep her wife happy, especially in the bedroom. Chloe felt more arousal being sent to her core with her wife's soothing words. "Fuck, baby. You're so good to me," she muttered under her breath.

"It's what you deserve, my love," Beca murmured back as she slowly dragged her fingers along Chloe's skin in the direction of her core. She gently scratched at her wife's skin while their lips connected in a passionate kiss yet again.

The moves her wife was making was driving Chloe crazy, but it was so relaxing at the same time. Her hands ran through Beca's hair, tugging at it softly.

By now Beca's hand had finally reached Chloe's core. The brunette started with two fingers, going slowly at first so the redhead could get a feel for it. "How's this, baby?"

All Chloe could do was let out a heavy moan, trying to keep as quiet as possible. "So good, Becs. So good!"

Beca continued her ministrations, loving the reaction she was getting out of her wife. The brunette slowly built up a steady but relatively quick pace, mixing it up once in awhile to maximize the pleasure she was giving Chloe.

"Fuck, right there—ahhh," Chloe muttered before cutting herself off with a gasp as Beca made a particularly pleasurable thrust. Said thrust was what finally pushed her over the edge, the redhead moaning her wife's name loudly as she came down from her high.

Beca gradually slowed to a stop after Chloe reached her climax. "God, you're so hot," she whispered with a smirk.

"And you, my love, are so good at helping me relieve all my stress," Chloe said with a heavy, contented sigh, her chest heaving up and down.

"Good, I'm glad." Beca pressed a sweet kiss to Chloe's lips before laying down beside her. She wrapped her arms around her wife's waist, pulling her as close as she could. "I love you."

Chloe closed her eyes and snuggled up to her wife. "I love you too, babe."

The jet arrived in New York a few hours later. Now, Chloe and Beca were in an Uber on their way to the meeting with the Broadway producers. "This is it," Chloe said as they pulled up to the theatre.

"You've got this, Chlo," Beca encouraged her wife as the Uber slowed to a stop at the curb.

After taking a couple deep breaths, Chloe thanked the driver and got out of the car. Her heart was racing as she walked into the office's doors. "I can do this, I've got this," she said to herself before heading up to her meeting.

Beca smiled proudly as she watched Chloe walk into the theatre. "I'll be at the hotel, babe! Call me when you're done!" She called out.

A small smile appeared on Chloe's face when she heard Beca call after her. She then met with one of the biggest people on Broadway, Patrick Manuel Fair. "Chloe! It's so great to finally meet you!" He said with a smile as he greeted her in the hallway of the fifth floor.

"It's great to finally meet you too, Patrick! I honestly never thought I would get to meet you, but here we are," Chloe replied with a chuckle.

Patrick chuckled as well before holding his hand out for Chloe to shake. "Now come on in; the meeting's in the main conference room," he stated enthusiastically.

Chloe followed Patrick down the hallway towards the main conference room. As they walked together, the redhead took deep breaths to calm herself before what would probably be one of the most important meetings in her life.

They entered a large room with a table so long it fit at least twenty chairs on each side, plus four on each end. "Wow, how many people are meeting with us?" Chloe asked.

"Well, we've got a number of producers who are interested in taking you and your show under their wing. Then there are going to be some costume designers, set designers, sound designers, etc. Last but not least, there will be a few Broadway executives. So to answer your question: thirty-five, give or take. There won't be any less than that, but more may decide to drop by. We'll just have to wait and see."

This without a doubt was the biggest meeting of Chloe's life. She had always known Broadway had big meetings and huge budgets for shows, but she never thought that she would ever be a part of those meetings. "Well, I'm both nervous and excited." Chloe stated with a smile.

"And that's perfectly fine. It's good to be nervous, actually. It will keep you on your toes, and you may end up doing better than you would if you were overly confident," Patrick pointed out.

As people started to file in, Chloe made sure everything was ready. She then began to introduce herself to everyone that walked in the door, offering a handshake and a kind smile in an attempt to make a good first impression.

Once most of the people had arrived, Patrick pulled Chloe aside to give her a quick pep talk. "The best advice I can give you is to just get up there and be yourself. Pitch your ideas to them as if you were pitching them to a friend. If you do that, then I guarantee you'll knock this out of the park," he told her.

Chloe was a bit nervous at first, but she never stopped being herself as she pitched the idea of Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway. "This show, I started writing it while I was dealing with some pretty awful PTSD. For a while I let my anxiety get the better of me; I was worrying about everything," Chloe started, thinking back to right after she was assaulted. "While I can't necessarily relate to Evan, I wrote this show so I could look back at it and know that I'm not alone when it comes to experiencing high levels of anxiety."

The redhead paused after that sentence to breathe for a moment and think of what to say next. She glanced over at Patrick, who was standing towards the back of the room, and smiled when he gave her two thumbs-up.

"Your show is very impressive, Mrs. Mitchell. My family and I saw it in San Francisco last month," one the executives began. "What drove you to write this?"

"This show has been very therapeutic for me. After I was assaulted, I needed an outlet—a way to express how nervous I was feeling all the time. This show saved my life in a way, and I hope it can do the same for others who struggle with anxiety," Chloe stated strongly.

Another executive spoke up after Chloe finished. "That's a very inspiring story, Mrs. Mitchell. I find it amazing that you were able to turn a traumatic experience into a show of this caliber. Well done."

"Thank you," Chloe said with a smile. "I know you all probably hear about amazing shows every day, but I hope that you consider this show. It's got a lot of heart, and I believe it could generate not just a lot of revenue, but attention from the non-theatre world," she added before taking a deep breath. "Like Hamilton, this show talks about a lot of things that are unknown to the public, but in this case it's about mental health instead of our country's history."

"So your goal for this show is to help reduce the stigma around mental health that is perpetuated by society?" Asked the first executive.

"That's correct. Mental health is so important and today's society still has an issue with taking it seriously. Everyone struggles with mental health in their lives, but they feel ashamed to talk about it," Chloe said before taking a sip of her water. "This show was written to help people realize that we all struggle with anxiety and depression, as well as many other different types of mental health issues, and that the more we talk about it, the more likely people are going to be able to share when they need help."

"Very good, Mrs. Mitchell. Now, in order to make a Broadway production of your show happen, what will we need to do? In other words, when you imagine Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, what do you see?" The same executive inquired.

"Well, I see a spectacle-esque stage. I want people to understand how big the issue of mental health is," Chloe stated. "Nothing too over-the-top, though. For those of you that saw the show in San Francisco, I would like the stage setting to be pretty close to that," the redhead added.

"That is definitely something we can do, Chloe," Patrick chimed in.

"Agreed. Now, what direction would you like to go in when it comes to costuming?" The first executive asked.

"All these people are pretty normal. They're from middle-class, working families, so nothing too fancy." Chloe replied. "Teenagers wearing clothes for teenagers in today's society," she added.

"That seems simple enough. We should have no trouble accommodating that," one of the costume designers spoke up.

"The music isn't like that of a typical Broadway show. It's much more like a modern pop album," Patrick mentioned.

"Do you anticipate there being a need for a full orchestra then?" The head sound designer asked Chloe.

Chloe shook her head. "No, we won't need one. We'll just need some violins, cellos, pianos, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, and bass guitars."

"Hmm. That's different from what I've done before, but we can make it work," the head sound designer commented confidently.

Towards the end of the meeting, the main executive stood up. "Chloe, I must say that we all are very excited to have Dear Evan Hansen as a part of our upcoming Broadway season. Congratulations!" The rest of the people in the room then stood up and clapped for her.

Chloe blushed as she received the round of applause, covering her mouth with her hand at one point because she was that excited. I did it. I can't believe I did it. Her heart seemed to be racing as an overload of happiness washed over her. This had to be a dream, but it was real. It was all, so real.

As she walked out of the building she called Beca.

"Babe, how'd the meeting go?"

"Becs, I did it. Dear Evan Hansen is going to Broadway."

Hey guys! Sorry for the long wait, COVID-19 has actually been a real busy time. But I hope you enjoyed the chapter! Hopefully I'll be uploading more now.

Until next time.
