Ch 7 dinner call

Waking up to a naked, fiery (not a) demon that was asking about dinner and passing out was one thing. It was another thing entirely when you wake up again to find the same fire starter was in your bed wearing one of your oversized hoodies, looking right at you in her original form.

"Sup." She greeted, her face only two inches away from his face. "So, if you're not going to pass out on me again I'll ask a second time. What's for dinner?"

"Hekapoo, are you decent?" He really needed to concentrate and prepare his mind for the conversation at hand. The question was simple one but if his life has taught him anything it was that what is simple can be easily misconstrued, like what Janna does all the time.

"I'm wearing your hoodie."

"I meant underneath."

"Oh, Marco, you hell-dog." Hekapoo smiled as she lightly punched Marco in the chest under the sheets. "If you wanted to see them again I don't blame you." She started to unzip the hoodie she was wearing but was quickly stopped by Marco.

"Stop!" he shouted as he grabbed her hand, stopping her from showing anymore than she was already. "I meant are you wearing underwear or pants."

"Oh, I know you did. I was only messing with you." Seeing him blush was just too good to pass up. "And no, I'm not."

Getting out of his bed Marco was careful not to move the blanket off Hekapoo, having grown tired of this exchange and decided to head out.

"Hey, you didn't answer my question." Hekapoo was slightly miffed that Marco was leaving so soon. She wanted to tease him some more and find out what she would be eating. "Marco!"

She got up from the bed, but before she could get out the red chains shortened, pulling Marco back and Hekapoo forward together. Getting up from the floor first Marco saw that the chain's length was about 30 centimeters long now with Hekapoo wearing one of his sweat pants and a shirt under his hoodie.

"What the hell Hekapoo, you lied to me." Marco accused as Hekapoo was getting up and adjusting herself.

"I was just joking Marco I wouldn't do anything indecent with you like that. I thought you knew me better than that."

"I saw you naked in my room."

"I was trying my new clothes on when you woke up all of a sudden. You just managed to catch me in the middle of me changing. Oh, almost forgot. Thanks for buying me my new clothes by the way, love them."

"Then why didn't you change in the bathroom?"

She shrugged her shoulders. "I'm not used to living with other people. Also, your bathroom doesn't have a full-length mirror like your bedroom does."

Frustration with the situation he was setting in for him. He was hungry, visibly excited, which he hoped that Hekapoo didn't see, and the chain was shortened again. He needed to make peace with Hekapoo in order for the chain to lengthen if he wanted to have a normal time at school tomorrow.

"Hekapoo, look. If you haven't noticed it yet, the chain shortens every time we have conflict and lengthens when we work together in harmony."

"Yeah, so what?"

"Can you please not do anything that can cause conflict between us? If we are going to go to school tomorrow we are going to need more than half a meter of chain if we don't want anyone to look at us weirdly and think were dating."

"Oh, come on, Marco. Everyone would look at you with jealousy if they thought you were dating me. Would it really be that bad if you were?"

"Yes." Hekapoo really didn't expect an answer and it did hurt that he said so.

"That's really hurtful, Marco."

"Look, I'm sorry but you have to understand that all this is not how I'd imagine my life would turn out."

"You and me both," Hekapoo agreed but not for the same reasons. "But I kind of like it, as it turned out."

"Really, why?"

"Well, where to start? I like the food, clothes, and the indoor plumbing here. Also messing with you is quite the kick. So, yeah, pretty good setup I've got. I'd still like to have my scissors, but hey, can't have everything you want in life."

"Hekapoo, it's been a long day for me and I have no time for your teasing. So please, for the love of all that is holy, can you keep things between us PC or at best M?"

"Oh, right. You would know what those are. Just cut back on the nudity with me please."

"You know most men would ask for more not less but fine. I'll be less naked with you, but know that time really was an accident. You were asleep and I wanted to play dress up okay?"

"Good." Feeling relief Marco thought of what he'd cook for today. "Hey, H-poo. You still hungry?"

"Oh, using my nickname now, are we? Does that mean I'm off the hook?"

"What I'm hearing is you're not hungry anymore. Okay. I was going to cook up something nice, but is seems I don't need to." Marco was about to walk away, but forgot the short chain and was back in Hekapoo's arms as she pulled him right away.

"Wait, I'm sorry. Please cook me something!" Hekapoo begged on her knees as she hugged his legs.

Smiling Marco nodded. "Apology accepted." As they made up that the chain lengthened to about one meters. Not as long as it was before but still it was a start. "Oh, thank god it got longer. If it stayed as short as it was I'd have a really hard time cooking anything."

"So~," Beaming with gusto Hekapoo just had to ask again. "What are you going to cook me this time, hot stuff?"

"Well I was thinking of making some seafood risotto with lots of shrimp, scallops, mussels, and some chorizo sausage with a good heavy sprinkling of grated parmesan cheese on top. Sound good to you?"

"I have no clue what any of those ingredients are, but I know it'll be good if you're making it. I can't wait to eat it, so chop chop."

As Marco was about to start making dinner, Hekapoo was just standing right behind him. It unnerved him a little even when he knew that the chain that linked the two of them was short. It didn't me he could tolerate it forever. He need her to do something other than just being his shadow.

"Hey, Hekapoo. How about you help a little? It'll make the cooking go faster."

"I don't mind helping out a little, but FYI I'm not a very good at cooking."

"Alright I can work with that, here." Marco placed a cutting board filled with tomatoes, garlic, parsley, rosemary, and spring onions in front of Hekapoo. "All I need for you to do is cut all of this up while I do the rest. Sound good?"

"Sure, no problem." To Marco's surprise Hekapoo just made a clone and told her to do what he just told her to do.

'Well, back to square one.' Guess he'd need a new plan, then it hit him. Hekapoo needed a cover story.

As they were cooking dinner, more accurately as Marco and Hekapoo's clone were cooking, Marco informed Hekapoo, the real one, she'd need a cover story. As the details were ironed out, they had a story they would stick to for when she went to school tomorrow. It was decided Hekapoo was from a foreign exchange student from the state of Queensland in Australia since no one would question that as his family always housed exchange students all the time.

Marco had to give her a crash course on Australia with what he knew with a few facts he learned from a previous exchange student like names of capital cities, sports they liked to play, fun facts, calling McDonalds Macca's, and how to eat vegemite properly. The answer to the last one, don't be stupid and eat it with a spoon. Lightly spread it on bread or toast, with or without butter to mellow out the flavor. It was not Nutella or anything sweet, more like sushi, an acquired taste.

Hekapoo asked if he had any of that vegemite stuff around as she wanted to try some and as it turned out he did. The last exchange student he had was an Australian and she gave his family a jar of the stuff as a gift that sat in the cupboard since. Taking it out and trying it out Hekapoo found vegemite quite tasty, a little on the strong side but nice. Marco told her she could have it as he and his family couldn't handle the stuff. Hekapoo on the other hand didn't listen to the recommended way to eating it as she just ate all the vegemite with a spoon and with an honest to god smile as she did. Turned out, she really enjoyed the stuff.

The later conversations did veer off track down the line. One minute they were talking about school rules and the next thing they knew Hekapoo was telling Marco how she removed a guy's heart from his chest in order to save his life. It was a weird story and Hekapoo did admit she was drunk at the time, but assured Marco the guy survived and had eleven kids later on and died of old age, possibly. She didn't check on him or anything after hearing about his eleventh kid.

After a few more of Hekapoo's adventures, she had dinner was finally cooked. Marco even made sure to cook extra portions just for Hekapoo seeing as she has a larger appetite than himself despite her size. Just looking at the food caused Hekapoo to start salivating. Marco was honestly impressed Hekapoo didn't just start eating without him.

After placing all the plates and utensils down, Marco just sat down and waited. He wanted to see how long Hekapoo would last before he gave the go ahead to start eating. To Hekapoo's credit she was able to pry her eye's away from the delicious smelling food to look at Marco and saw the smile he had. She put two and two together and realized Marco was messing with her. Hekapoo, to her case was trying to be nice to Marco. Given all the nice things he had bought her and all the grief she had given him, but purposefully making her wait till he have the go ahead was just plain evil in her eyes.

"Grrrrr," Hekapoo growled at Marco like she was some starved dog.

Holding his hands up in defeat Marco surrendered. "Alright chill, H-poo. Let's dig in."

Hekapoo's attitude changed immediately and a smile plastered her face. "Fuck yeah," she yelled out and was about to chow down on her food with her bare hands but found that Marco quickly stole her plate right out from under her. "Marco, what the fuck!?"

"Language. Also don't eat with our hands. Use the utensils I gave you."

"Fine." Reluctantly Hekapoo picked up a spoon and fork that were in front of her. "Can I eat now? I'm starving."

"Yes." When Marco pushed the plate back in front of Hekapoo he also added. "Just be sure to savor the taste of the food. I worked really- and you already finished the food I gave you."

Looking at Hekapoo he saw her plate was now de-voided of food and her face was a covered in sauce and even a small shrimp on her left cheek.

Grabbing a clean wipe, he used it to clean her face of the mess she had made. Thankfully she didn't fuss over the fact he was treating her like he would a child that was a messy eater.

"Seriously, didn't your parents teach you some table manners?"

"I don't have parents Marco."

"Oh, I so sorry about that I didn't know."

"Don't be sorry." Hekapoo waved off his apology like nothing was wrong. "I don't have parents Marco. I have a creator, Glossaryck."

"That little blue guy that floats around that likes to eat pudding?"

"The one and only."

"How did that work out?"

"I don't really want to take about it. All you need to know is that when I was made I already had a job and duties to do."

"Wow, I don't even know what to say to that?"

"How about we just go back to eating? I'm still hungry and I know there's more of that seafood risotto stuff." She handed Marco her plate winking at him. "And be sure to give me an extra helping of risotto and I'll promise to use my table manners this time, I swear."

Marco smiled as he was sure to fill up the plate and handed it over to her.

"You always did have table manners, didn't you H-poo?"

Now it was Hekapoo's turn to smile

"Aww, Marco. You figured me out haven't you? Yeah, I normally don't eat like a slob as I've had to wine and dine with royalty from all over. Trust me when I say, those guys have a big stick up their collective asses. Also, your food is just really good. I can't really help it."

"Thanks for the compliment, but please eat my food and all food like a civilized person and not a half starved animal." He asked as he placed a full plate in front of Hekapoo.

"Spoilsport," She whined now eating her food with her fork and spoon and ate at a normal pace.

As they were eating dinner together now in silence simply enjoying the food, Hekapoo looked like she was having a foodgasm. It wasn't after a few more minutes that Marco realized something.

"Oh, crap!" Marco said out of nowhere.

"What's wrong?"

"I forgot to get you enrolled in school."

"So, what?"

"School starts in one more day! We can't get you enrolled to school in a day! And you can't just stand by me at class without being a part of class! And I can't just skip school for a week on the first week of school! That'll go to my permanent record!" Marco's panic attack was spiraling out of control as he was pacing around the dining room until a familiar sound of Space Unicorns greeted him.

Marco picked up his phone and saw it was 'MOM' calling. "Hello, mom." Marco answered politely like he always does with his previous panic attack gone, or at least put aside for now.

"Marco, sweetie. I forgot to inform you we got your friend Hekapoo enrolled in your school so don't have a panic attack. We took care of everything before we left."

"What, how? It takes at least a few days before a new student is even registered with the school along with a school tour and parent interview."

"Simple honey. Glossarck just told us to bribe principal Skeeves with some of the gold Moon gave us. So she should be okay to attend on Monday," his mother explained. "Just watch after her alright? She's new to Earth and things to her might seem confusing and scary."

"Don't worry about that mom, Hekapoo's… very capable of taking care of herself."

"Damn straight!" Hekapoo shouted out so his mother could hear her. "Also, more food please. I also ate your portion, so get some for yourself as well."

"That's good to hear. And just remember Marco, I love you with all my heart."

"I love you too, mom."

"Aw, that's so sweet. Still want more food please."

"And I also like Hekapoo. She seems like such a beautiful and passionate young girl."

"I'm way older than you, but I'll still take the nice compliment. Would go well with some more food though."

"But I don't want to be a grandparent when I and your father get back." Angie warned. "But I do!" his father called out on his mother's side of the phone.

"Mom! Dad!" Marco was now embarrassed to have him and Hekapoo hear that as well.

"I'm not sure I can even get pregnant Mrs. And Mr. Diaz." She really wasn't as it was not something that had really been taught to her.

"Not helping, Hekapoo."

"Oh, that's good then. Have fun you two."

"What, mom no. We're not-"

The sound of a quiet beep signaled the end of the conversation, much to Marco's dismay.

"…" after a few seconds of frustrated silence, Marco put his phone down and looked back over to Hekapoo with a tired face.

"So~ are you going to give me more food or what?"

"Sure, give me a second."

"Sweet, and maybe later we can have 'FUN' later like your mom and dad wanted."

"Don't sass me, H-poo."

"I'm not hearing a no," Hekapoo really did love teasing Marco.

"Okay, then. No more second helpings. Don't want you having stomach craps when we're having 'FUN' now do we."

"What!? No, please! I'm sorry, Marco. I won't do it again. Please, I want more of your amazing cooking." It would seem to Hekapoo that Marco could tease her back just as hard and she could.

Oddly enough, the chain would grow longer with this teasing exchange with the both of them.

"Oh, just FYI Marco. Unicorns are annoying little flying assholes that leave glitter everywhere they go. It's best to avoid them if you can. So you might want to change that ringtone."
