This is a short story I had to write for Lit class. It's inspired by a comic I saw on Tumblr.
Steven woke up in a darkish pink room. The ground was soft as a pillow, and the sky was a deep purple/pink combination. He couldn't remember how he got here. His head hurt as he pulled himself into a sitting position. He heard a voice, singing in the distance.
"If I could, Begin to be. Half of what you think of me, I could do about anything. I could even learn how to Love,Like you,"
He decided to follow the voice, it could tell him where he was. He got up and started walking toward it. He bounced along the ground as if he were in a bed. Why does that voice sound familiar? He wondered.
"When I see, the way you act, wondering if I'm coming back, I could do about anything. I could even learn how to Love, Like you. Love, Like you. Love, Like you,"
After five minutes of walking, Steven came upon a rose garden. Roses of all colors grew around a fountain with a statue of an angel with a flowing white dress and long, curly, pink hair. The mysterious voice was coming from the other side of the fountain.
"I always thought I might be bad, now, I'm sure that it's true. 'Cause I think you're so good, and I'm nothing Like you. Look at you go, I just adore you, I wish that I knew! What makes, you think I'm so special,"
He walked around the fountain, and he saw something he never expected to see: His mother. She continued her song, not noticing Steven there yet.
"If I could, begin to do. Something that does right by you, I would do about anything. I would even learn how to love, like you. When I see, the way you look, Shaken by how long it took, I could do about anything. I could even learn how to love, Like you. Love me, Like you," She sang.
Steven started clapping, unintentionally startling his mom. He ran up to her, and gave her a hug. It was something he had wanted to do since he was little. She hugged back, and in that moment, everything was perfect.
