AN:Wow… Its been more than a year since I updated this. Please don't kill me. I've been battling depression this past year. Now that I'm feeling better and more myself, I'll finish this and my other pending stories as soon as possible. The next date on which I'll be updating will be mentioned at the end of the chapter from now on. I would like to inform you again, that none of my stories is abandoned.

I would understand if not many people would be interested in this story after such a long time. If you are, please let me know because working on a story takes a lot of hard work and time. I would rather not waste it on something which doesn't interest anyone anymore.

Lastly, I want to thank every single one of you who took the time to leave a review. I haven't replied, but I'll try to do it from now on. Hope everyone is doing fine.

HELICARRIER

Loki was locked in a glass cell designed to hold Hulk and they all watched as Fury explained to him that if he attempted to escape, even by merely cracking the glass, a shaft will open below him and he'll plummet to Earth and possibly be killed. Fury was clearly trying to threaten the God, but it didn't look like it was working, instead if anything, Loki looked amused.

Cassy shook her head at the director. Either he was foolish and arrogant to understand what he was up against or was far too sagacious that he was purposefully baiting the God of mischief. And her anger rose at the fact that the glass cell was built to contain Bruce aka Hulk. She had met the 'other guy' as Bruce liked to call him and from what she understood, Hulk was just like a scared child. The isolation he had been forced into, bought the worst in him and these idiots were planning on doing just that.

After the marvellous speech and essentially giving the prisoner an insight on how his cage worked, Fury swept out of the deck, no doubt to harry the people present in the helicarrier.

They were all surrounded in the main hall, waiting in tense silence, not knowing what to do, when Bruce crossed his arms and mumbled sarcastically, "He really grows on you, doesn't he?"

"Loki's gonna drag this out." Captain America, Rogers said before looking at Thor and asked, "So, Thor, what's his play?"

Thor looked down at Cassy somewhat dolefully and said, "He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard, nor any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the Earth, in return, I suspect, for the Tesseract."

Even though their fingers were entwined, his hold tightened on her hand unconsciously and Cassy couldn't do anything but hold onto his arm with her free hand. It might seem clingy, but she wasn't ready to let go just yet, not after thinking for more than a year that she might never see him again. On one hand, she was worried about Neville and what he might be going through; on the other, she could sense Thor's distress about his brother. She might've been able to comfort him when they'd first met, but right now, she didn't know what to do.

"An army, from outer space," Rogers spoke, thankfully ignoring the two.

Bruce's voice was strained as he removed his glasses before speaking, "So, he's building another portal."

Sudden realization hit Cassy and she whispered, "That's what he needs Erik for."

Thor looked down at her and asked with a frown, "Selvig?"

"He's an astrophysicist." Bruce replied at the same time Cassy said, "Loki has Selvig and Neville. He has them under some form of Imperius Curse."

"He even has the spell one of ours," Natasha said, trying to look nonchalant, but failed miserably.

Thor's lips thinned and he looked visibly upset but stayed quiet.

Rogers looked at Natasha and asked, "I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here."

And that's what Cassy wanted to know as well. Why did Loki wait for them to capture him when he could've easily escaped? She was unable to shake the feeling that something was wrong and they were missing something vital, but how to ask the man who himself was the cause of it all? At this point, she was considering contacting MACUSA and asking them for veritaserum. She knew Loki wouldn't give away anything, but she also wasn't sure if the potion would work on a God or not?! It was worth trying if it saved not only Neville but a thousand others as well.

"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You can smell crazy on him." Bruce said, bringing her out of her thoughts.

She didn't agree with him because as far as she understood, Loki was the answer to all and they could stop it if they reached the bottom of it. But she didn't get to voice her thoughts because before she could, Thor took a step forward and said threateningly, "Have a care how you speak! Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard and he is my brother."

"He killed eighty people in two days," Natasha stated from where she was sitting on a chair.

Thor deflated and grumbled softly or as softly as he could manage, "He's adopted."

He hated that these people thought of his brother with such hatred… hated that Loki gave them a chance to speak not only against him but the Asgardian's as well. He knew he wasn't intelligent, but it wasn't difficult to guess that after Loki's display, these people would be wary of his motives as well. He cared not what others thought of him, but about Cassy. It had been a long time. What if she decided that he wasn't worth her affections because it was his brother who was trying to take over her realm? Thor knew how Loki's mind worked, they had been together for more than a millennia, after all. His brother wasn't evil, but he was acting on his anger. Thor knew he wouldn't let any harm come to Loki, but he also didn't want to lose the woman that had made him what he was today. The woman that he loved and the woman that he wished to see as his queen someday.

"I think it's about mechanics." Bruce mused. "Iridium… What do they need the iridium for?"

"It's a stabilizing agent." They heard a voice and turned to see Tony Stark waking in with Agent Coulson.

He whispered something to Coulson before shoving both his hands in the pockets of his pant and continued, "It means the portal won't collapse on itself like it did at SHEILD."

"No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing." He said, patting Thor's bicep as he walked by, completely ignoring the glare Thor threw his way.

"Also, it means the portal can open as wide and stay open as long, as Loki wants." He finished, stopping in front of the computers before adding, "Raise the mizzenmast. Jib the topsails."

Everyone turned towards him like he was demented, but he carried on, "That man is playing Galaga. He thought we wouldn't notice, but we did."

He stopped suddenly, covered one eye with his palm and looked around befuddled. "How does Fury even see these?"

"He turns." Agent Maria stated, unimpressed.

"Sounds exhausting." Stark exclaimed dramatically before turning towards one of the screens and said, "The rest of the raw materials, agent Barton can get his on pretty easily. The only major component they still need is a power source of high-energy-density, something to kick-start the Cube."

Cassy raised an eyebrow at the man. She didn't think anyone noticed, but he subtly placed something on the inside of the main computer. Now she might not understand how these modern technologies worked, but she knew what he was doing. It seemed like he too didn't trust S.H.I.E.L.D. If that turned out to be true, maybe he could help her in distracting Fury by working some technical magic while she talked to Loki. There was no way she was doing it in front of the director. He was a man she wouldn't trust her enemy's life with.

Agent Hill crossed her arms across her chest and asked, "When did you two become experts in thermonuclear astrophysics?"

"Last night." He stated like it should be obvious. "Selvig's papers and notes? Am I the only one who did the reading?"

"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Rogers interrupted before the man could continue.

Bruce looked at him and replied, "He'd have to hear the Cube to 120 million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier."

"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunnelling effect," Cassy spoke, surprising them all. They looked at her like she had grown another head and she scowled. She had worked with Erik, Jane and Darcy for quite a long time which had thankfully increased her understanding of how the mechanics of science worked.

"Well, if he could do that, he could achieve heavy iron fusion at any reactor on the planet." Bruce nodded.

"Finally, someone who speaks English." Stark looked from her to Bruce appreciatively before he reached forward and shook Bruce's hands.

"Is that what just happened?" Rogers asked agent Hill.

Stark spoke, "It's good to meet you, Dr Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster."

Cassy blinked at that along with others. Apparently, the man had no filter.

Bruce stared bemused before muttering a small, "Thanks."

"Dr Banner is only here to track the cube. And Miss Potter here can explain how the magical energy works. I was hoping you might join them." Fury ordered Stark.

Stark didn't seem to mind, neither did the others, but Cassy barely restrained herself. The urge to curse him was too strong and it wouldn't work in her favour if she turned the director into a pig that he was! What exactly did he think of himself? He might be the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that gave him no right to order people around, especially the ones who were not working under him. He seemed nothing but shrewd and cunning, using people as his personal monkeys. The way he basically kidnapped Bruce or how he ordered her and Neville to work for him and now, he was ordering one of the world's most intelligent individual's to work for him. She wished either Hermione or Jane were here, they certainly would've punched the Furry asshole! She would've to keep an eye on him in the future because he was a man who wouldn't care before throwing someone in front of a bus 'for the greater good'. He wouldn't think twice before using Thor, Loki or anyone magical or muggle for what he deemed right and she was going to chop his balls of the day he dared lay his dirty paws on anyone she cared about.

Rogers turned towards Bruce suggested, "I would start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a Hydra weapon."

Fury spoke, "I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys."

Thor looked around confused and asked, "Monkeys? I do not understand."

"I do!" the exclamation surprisingly came from Captain America, who looked rather proud of himself, earning an eye roll from Stark. When no one bothered to reply, he explained further, "I understood that reference."

Stark crossed his arms and asked the two, "Shall we play, guys?"

"This way." Bruce motioned towards the exit and led them towards the lab.

Cassy desperately wanted to talk to Thor… wanted to know if he still wanted to be with her. It had been more than a year after all and she was just waiting for the other shoe to drop… waiting for him to tell her it was been just a 'fling' while he was on earth. He was not only a prince, but everything a woman could wish for in her partner and she was just plain, old Cassy with extra baggage. She wasn't beautiful and someone like Thor, a God no less, could have anyone he wanted. But she knew, right now, finding Neville, Erik and agent Baron was imperative. Right now, she wanted to solely focus was on finding Neville.

So, she looked into his eyes and squeezed his hand softly before releasing it and followed the two scientists out.

The moment she entered the lab, the force of magic hit her full force and Cassy shuddered. The raw power it emanated was so strong that she was sure it was something that shouldn't be in the hands of someone like Loki or S.H.I.E.L.D. Others might not be able to feel it, but she knew that this one stone could destroy worlds if ended in wrong hands.

Bruce waved a hand scanner over the scepter, read the readings on the screen and said, "The gamma readings are definitely consistent with Selvig's reports on the Tesseract. But it'll take weeks to process."

"If we bypass their mainframe and direct route to the Homer cluster, we can clock this at around 600 teraflops." Tony said, finally noticing the witch, who was moving cautiously towards 'the scepter'. She pulled her wand out and waved it over the sceptre, which was lying on the table, the stone in it glowing constantly.

"I don't understand." She whispered, almost to herself.

Tony shared a look with Bruce, who shrugged before asking, "Uh… What are you doing?"

"I… it's powerful." She replied as if it explained everything.

"I know we're muggles, but we've known it for a long time," Tony said, clearly implying that she was being dumb.

Cassy didn't know whether to be impressed that he had done his research on wizards or roll her eyes. Eventually, she shook her head and said, "No, you don't understand. The energy radiating from this…" she pointed towards the scepter, "doesn't match the energy that I felt from Loki."

At two similar frowns, she explained, "Every witch, wizard or sorcerer is born with a magical core. The weapons that are used by magical beings rely on how their energy works. The most prominent rule that governs wand-lore is that the wand chooses the wizard that it will work for." She showed them their wand and continued, "My wand chose me because it is compatible with my magic and it moulds itself accordingly, so we essentially have the same energy. Someone else can use my wand, but the possibility is that it won't work for them until the wand allows it. Like 'mjölnir. When I first met Thor, he was a muggle, so his energy didn't match mjölnirs. Right now though? They're practically radiating the same energy. Loki is a God and I don't know much, but he shouldn't be much different. I ran a diagnostic on it. What I don't understand is, why does it seem different from Loki's magical core?"

Tony pointed towards the scepter and asked, "So you're saying that this isn't compatible with Loki? Does this mean he's working with someone else?"

She shrugged, "I can't be sure yet. I could be wrong."

"Hmm…" Tony hummed thoughtfully.

After a couple of seconds of debating internally, Cassy waved her hand in the air and met Tony's eyes.

"What did you do?" He asked suspiciously.

"I incapacitated the cameras. They're still working, but for now, they won't reveal what's actually happening in here." She told him.

"Why?" Tony asked, tensed, even Bruce removed his glasses to look at her.

"I wanted to talk to you without our furry little friend interfering and poking his nose in something he doesn't understand. And it seemed like even you don't trust him… or the S.H.I.E.L.D." She replied.

Tony crossed his arms across his chest and asked innocently, "And how did you reach that conclusion?"

Cassy nodded, before waving her wand on front of her. A projector like screen appeared out of nowhere which showed a hand sticking a small round device at the back of a computer screen. Another waved of her wand and it was gone.

Bruce looked between the two, while Tony met her eyes and said in a high pitched voice, "I don't know what that is."

She arched an eyebrow as if to say 'yeah, right', but instead said with a huff, "I need your help to get inside that cage without Fury or anyone noticing."

Both Bruce and Tony's jaws fell open and they stared at her like she was barmy to even think that, which she would've agreed with if it hadn't been important. She needed to know that Neville was safe and to find out how they could stop this alien invasion.

She stared at the two, waiting for them to say something, but instead of replying, Tony cleared his throat unnecessarily and asked, "I mean no disrespect. None at all. You're the wicked witch of the west and all… just curious and all that… how old are you exactly?"

Cassy narrowed her eyes, hating the fact that once again people thought of her as a foolish child. She had been fighting all her life, she wouldn't do something to endanger them all. But she needed his help right now, so she took a calming breath and said, "You know just as much as I do that you couldn't have caught Loki if he hadn't wanted to. He wanted to get captured. We're missing something and we need to find out what because he's the only one who can give us the answers."

Tony looked sceptical, but asked curiously, "And how do you plan to do that?"

"Veritaserum." She replied simply.

Tony didn't speak, just motioned for her to continue.

"It's a truth serum. The most powerful potion in this world that merely three drops are enough to force the drinker to answer their innermost secrets for the entire world. It is used mainly for interrogation."

His eyes widened as he gawked at her, seemingly thrilled and asked, "And you have this serum?"

"I can get it within an hour." She stated confidently.

He almost bounced on his feet as he asked excitedly, "Where can I get it?"

Cassy looked bemused at the change of topic and said pointedly, "It's illegal and not easily accessible. It can land you in prison! Right now, I don't have any other choice… I just need fifteen minutes with Loki. I'm still not sure if it'll work, him being a God, but we have to try. We can't let him kill millions."

Tony pouted but didn't agree. He crossed his arms across his chest and stared at her scrutinizingly as if trying to find the answers of the universe.

"Look, I know you don't know me and you've no reason to believe me either, but I need you to trust me on this. Please." She pleaded earnestly.

She couldn't involve Thor, knowing it would make matters worse. Tony and Bruce were the only ones who could help her. If they just backed her up, she'll find out Loki's plan soon enough.

Tony looked at Bruce, asking for help, but Bruce shrugged and said, "I'm not sure, but the other guy likes her."

Tony slumped and said with a sigh, "No more than 15 minutes."

Cassy couldn't stop the grin that spread across her face before rushing towards Tony and hugged him. He stiffened because no one touched him. Maybe Pepper and Rodney, but no one else. Not unless he was having sex with them, which he hadn't since Afghanistan. She noticed his tense form and pulled back just as fast.

"Thank you." She whispered.

"Don't make me regret it," Tony said strictly, there was a warning hidden in there which none of them missed.

Cassy nodded. "I promise you won't regret it."

"I doubt it," Tony mumbled before turning towards Bruce. "You two should stop by Stark tower someday. Top ten floors. All R&D. You'll love it, it's Candy Land." He stopped before looking at Cassandra and said, "We can conduct some tests with your permission, of course. See how you work that… magic of yours."

That made her scowl but before she could reply, Bruce said, "Thanks, but the last time I was in New York, I sort of broke – Harlem."

"Well, I promise a stress-free environment. No tension, no surprises." Tony said, just as he zapped Bruce with an electrical stick.

"Ow!" Bruce gasped.

Tony leaned closer looking into his eyes to see if he could see the Hulk making an appearance, but Bruce just grinned.

"Nothing?" he asked curiously making Cassy snort with amusement.

"Hey!" They heard and turned to see Rogers glaring at Tony. "Are you nuts?"

"Jurys out." Tony said offhandedly before turning back towards Bruce and observed, "You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz, bongo drums, a huge bag of weed?"

"Is everything a joke to you?" Rogers demanded.

"Funny things are," Stark replied seriously.

"Threatening the safety of everyone on this ship isn't funny." He said firmly before turning towards Bruce and apologised, "No offence, Doc."

Bruce opened his mouth to speak, but Cassy beat him to it and said, "I think it's fine. He wouldn't have come aboard if he couldn't handle pointy things." She smiled at Bruce, who just nodded and went back to his work.

"You need to focus on the problem, Mr Stark," Rogers told Tony hotly.

"Do you think I'm not?" Tony sobered up and asked, "Why did Fury call us in? Why now? Why not before? What isn't he telling us? I can't do the equation unless I have all the variables."

Rogers looked like he was contemplating it before he asked, "You think Fury's hiding something?"

"He's a spy. Captain, he's THE spy. His secrets have secrets." Tony popped a berry in his mouth before adding, "It's bugging them too, isn't it?"

All eyes turned towards Bruce and he looked sown before starting, "Uuhh…I just want to finish my work here and…"

"Bruce." Cassy sighed.

Bruce exhaled and removed his glasses before saying, "A warm light for all mankind. Loki's jab at Fury about the Cube."

"I heard it," Rogers said.

"I think that was meant for you." Bruce pointing at Tony, who turned around and offered him the packet. Bruce took some and said, "Even if Barton didn't tell Loki about the tower, it was still all over the news."

"The Stark Tower? That big, ugly…" Tony arched his eyebrow at Rogers, who's smile fell, but he finished, "building in New York?"

"It's is powered by an arc reactor, a self-sustaining energy source." Bruce asked, "That building will run itself for, what, a year?"

"It's just a prototype," Tony explained. "I'm kind of the only name in clean energy right now. That's what he's getting at."

"So, why didn't S.H.I.E.L.D bring him in on the Tesseract project.?" Bruce asked with a shrug. "What are they doing in the energy business in the first place?"

"I should probably look into that once my decryption program finishes breaking into all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secure files."

Steve's eyes widened as he gaped at Tony and asked, "I'm sorry. Did you say…"

"JARVIS has been running it since I hit the bridge. In a few hours, we'll know every dirty secret S.H.I.E.L.D has ever tried to hide." Tony stated casually before offering, "Blueberry?"

"Yet you're confused about why they didn't want you around." If possible, Rogers glare intensified, while Bruce and Cassy shared a look but wisely chose to stay quiet.

"An intelligence organization that fears intelligence? Historically, not awesome." Tony questioned sarcastically.

"I think Loki is trying to wind us up. This is a man who means to start a war and if we don't stay focused, he'll succeed." Rogers stated before pointedly looking at Tony and added, "We have orders. We should follow them."

"Following is not really my style." Tony popped another blueberry into his mouth and Cassy had to bite her lip to keep herself from laughing. Rogers seemed so much like Hermione had been in their first year, all against breaking the rules, but he didn't understand that rules were meant to be broken, figuratively and literally.

"And you're all about style, aren't you?" Rogers jeered.

"Of the people in this room which one is A, wearing a spangly outfit, and, B, not of use?" Tony asked mockingly.

"Hey!" Cassy called, gaining the attention of the two and winked at Steve. "I dig the spangly outfit."

Steve turned red, making her grin and Tony rolled his eyes.

Bruce ignored them and asked instead, "Steve, tell me none of this smells a little funky to you."

Steve looked at the three of them for a couple of seconds before he said, "Just find the Cube."

With that, he walked out the door.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Tony said, "That's the guy my dad never shut up about? I'm wondering if they should've kept him on ice."

"He's not wrong about Loki," Bruce said.

"Uh… guys?" Cassy muttered, "There's just one more thing."

Tony and Bruce shared a look before asking, "You're kidding, right?"

"I'll need Bruce's help." She grimaced at the horror stuck look on their faces.

Cassy couldn't risk the ministry knowing about her using Veritaserum on Loki. She might get away with it, but she didn't want S.H.I.E.L.D. to know about its existence. She didn't know Fury, but she knew he would go to any lengths to get his hands on the potions and whatnot if he found about its existence. She couldn't risk it. So, she had contacted her most reliable source. Now, she just had to check if Jane was fine before she had a little talk with Thor's brother. She couldn't believe she had forgotten about the extraordinary brilliant scientist. If Loki or anyone got their hands on her, there would no stopping this invasion.

As soon as she entered the hall, she noticed Thor standing next to Agent Coulson in front of the computer screens. There was a picture of Jane on the screen and she heard the Agent informing Thor, "…we moved his field partner, Jane Foster. They've got an excellent observatory in Tromso. She was asked to consult there very suddenly yesterday. Handsome fee, private plane, very remote. She'll be safe."

"Thank you. Lady Jane's safety will assuage some of the distress My Lady Cassandra might be having because of Longbottom and Selvig." Thor nodded his thanks and Cassy melted at his words. Even though they hadn't met for more than a year, he still understood what would worry her. This right here was the reason she loved him. He was kind-hearted, compassionate and attentive in a way she hadn't seen anyone before. No one had ever loved her as he did. He made her feel giddy just by smiling at her and she didn't want to lose it. Before meeting him, she didn't think she could love someone as much as she loved him, but now, after knowing him even for such a short amount of time… she didn't want to live without him ever again.

He turned around as if sensing her presence, his blue eyes twinkled making her heart skip a beat and a smile graced his face as soon as he saw her, and Cassy couldn't help but mirror it back. Without her conscious thought, her feet moved, only to stop right in front of him. She wanted to reach forward and kiss him; she wanted to pull him closer and make sure that he wasn't another fragment of her imagination; she wanted to run her fingers through his soft blonde hair, just to see if her memories had done him justice, but it was all thwarted when someone cleared their throat, bringing her back to reality. Simultaneously, both their heads turned towards Agent Coulson, who looked at them coolly, making them realize that they had forgotten about him.

Cassy looked away awkwardly, while Thor was unabashed. With a tired sigh, he said, "It's no accident, Loki taking Selvig. I dread what he plans for him once he's done."

"He talks about you a lot. You changed his life. Both of you." Coulson spoke, looking at Thor. "Especially you. You changed everything around here."

They start walking around towards the large glass wall overlooking the night sky as Thor continued, "They were better as they were. We pretend on Asgard that we are more advanced, but we come here, battling like bilge snipes."

They both looked confused and Coulson asked, "Like what?"

"Bilge snipes," said Thor as if that should be common knowledge. "You know, huge, scaly, big antlers…?"

Both Cassy and Coulson looked at him, lost.

"You don't have those?" Thor asked, somewhat baffled.

"I don't think so." Coulson replied before turning towards Cassy and asked, "What about you? Does your world have… bilge snipes?"

"Uh… no. Never heard of 'em before." Cassy shook her head.

"Well, they are repulsive. And they trample everything in their path." Thor looked out the window. "When I first came to Earth, Loki's rage followed me here, and your people paid the price. And now, again." he sighed. "In my youth, I courted war."

"War, no matter how necessary or justified, is nothing but a crime." She whispered.

"War hasn't started yet." They heard a voice and turned to see Fury staring at Thor intently and continued, "You think you could make Loki te…"

"Uhh… Glinda?" Someone called in a high-pitched voice, making Fury stop and stare at Stark, who was gawking at Cassy. "Can I talk to you about a teeny-tiny detail for a second?"

Cassy frowned but nodded before giving half a smile to Thor, letting him know that she would be back. Tony led her outside and towards the lab when Fury's voice stopped them.

"Stark, is everything all right?" He asked suspiciously.

"Yes! Everything's fine! Better than fine. No need for you to worry! You can go back to intimidating or manipulating or whatever you were doing." Tony prattled, before pulling Cassy out of the main hall in a rush.

The relief that spread through her was instantaneous when she saw Ron standing in the lab, with Bruce standing a couple of feet away, looking edgy at best.

"Ron." She flung herself at him with a sigh, feeling relieved in a way which she hadn't since Loki took Neville.

"You know him." Bruce murmured at the same time Tony cried, "He appeared out of air! Air! Literally out of Thin Air! And we're already in the air! Helicarrier! A flying boat! How? HOW?"

"Helicarrier? Is it a flying boat? Are we in a flying boat?! Muggles can make boats fly?!" Ron asked, eyes wide with wonder as soon as she pulled back.

"It's called apparition. Teleportation, if you will. I was here when I contacted him and he knows how to track me down." She explained to Tony in a hurry, while she looked at Ron and without another word, he handed her a glass vial.

"TELEPORTATION!" Tony gasped before demanding, "Teach me and I'll give you as much money as you want! Or a house? Mansion? Private Jet? Anything that's in my power!"

Cassy scowled at him and replied, "What? No! I don't need money. I already have more than I could ever spend. And you need magic to apparate. Sorry."

Tony pouted, but it was soon forgotten as another thing hit him. "Wait. You're rich?"

"One of the richest in the world, mate," Ron said somewhat wistfully.

"Ron!" Cassy snapped, ignoring the way the two scientists gawped.

"Sorry." Ron winced.

"How come we haven't heard your name before?" Tony asked surprised.

"Can we please focus? In case you've forgotten, we have to interrogate a criminal who's planning an alien invasion?" She said testily before explaining her plan to the three. They didn't have more than 15 minutes before Fury got suspicious if he wasn't already. Bruce looked sceptical, but she needed him to be there, just in case.

Bruce looked right at her and almost begged, "If it comes down to it, promise you won't let him hurt anyone."

Stopping right in front of him, she took his hand in both of hers and said sincerely, "I promise."

He took a shuddering breath and nodded.

They heard a girly yelp and turned to see Tony gaping at his duplicate and Ron looking smug. There was another body, Bruce's frozen copy, staring at the computer screen.

"Is that me? That's totally me… but how? I'm standing right here!" Tony babbled hysterically, inspecting his copy before he met Ron's eyes and pleaded, "Can he speak? He's me… so he can speak! Can I keep him? Imagine! There will be two of us! Two Iron Man's… Two Tony Starks! We can have so much fun! We'll be exceptional! We could totally take on the world together!" He looked back at his magical copy and asked, "What do you say, buddy?"

Bruce grimaced at Tony's tirade, although he himself was itching to see how the mechanics of teleportation worked; Ron gaped at the blabbering scientist before looking at Cassy with one expression which screamed 'Only You, Cassy'.

Cassy sighed.

Loki didn't look at her, but she could hear the smile in his voice as he said, "There are not many people who can sneak up on me."

"But you knew I'd come." She whispered.

"After," Loki said pleasantly. "After whatever tortures these humans can concoct, being one of us now, you would appear as a friend, a balm. And I would cooperate."

"I want you to undo the curse that you've placed on Neville." She demanded.

"And I want to rule all nine realms." He shrugged before saying, "Where's the lovesick fool?"

He noticed how she tensed and grinned, "He doesn't know you're here, does he?"

She glared at him and said through gritted teeth, "I won't ask again. I want you to let Neville go."

"Ooh… already cheating, Cassandra Potter?" Loki almost beamed as he said this as if Christmas has come early.

"He's my friend." Cassy narrowed her eyes before adding snidely, "Not that you would know much about them. I mean, you even tried to kill your own brother."

"HE IS NOT MY BROTHER!" Loki screamed, making her flinch.

She looked at him, truly unable to understand how he could hate someone like Thor, who despite everything was still cared about his deranged and evil brother. If she had family who cared for her as much as Thor did for Loki… Cassy shook her head and spoke, "Maybe not by blood, but he never thought of you as different. And I know that even now, he will end anyone who tries to harm you."

Loki's eyes grew hard but he schooled his expressions in the blink of an eye. He smiled and asked slowly, "And how would you know that? You haven't known him for long now, have you?"

She looked at him pointedly, realising what he was trying to do and said, "Because I know how to tell the wrong sorts."

"Can you?" he asked mockingly. "Neville told me all about you. A poor little orphan, desperate for acceptance and love, balancing her life from the day her parents were killed because of her. Struggling every moment because she's different from everyone she knows. Trying to pretend to be virtuous, while you're just that – a killer. It's a part of you and it will never go away!"

He banged a closed fist on the glass making her jump and added through gritted teeth, "I'll watch while I make him kill you slowly, again and again, and again. It's a good thing you can die, isn't it?"

He laughed aloud and spat, "Pathetic."

She turned away from him and whispered, "You're a monster."

Loki chuckled, seeming delighted as he said, "Oh no. You brought the monster."

Suddenly, Cassy turned and looked at him with eyes that were burning fire and his smile fell when she walked closer to the cage.

Her expressions were closed off as she said coldly, "You're right. I did bring the monster."

"What?" asked Loki.

She placed her hand on the door of the cage and, just like that, it slid open. She took a step inside, cocked her head to the side and stated, "You could've left anytime you wanted, couldn't you?"

He looked at her with something akin to trepidation, until he heard a growl and a second later, Hulk slammed onto the floor of the next to her with a snarl. With a flick of her wand, the door closed behind them, locking them in. Cassy had to give it to him because other than the widening of his eyes, he didn't react outwardly. Loki tried to vanish, but when he couldn't, his eyes snapped to hers angrily, realising that the cage had been warded.

Now, he took a step back and said placatingly, "Now… we don't want anyone to get hurt."

"Don't we?" she asked mockingly.

"What would my br…" Loki stopped before backtracking and amended, "Thor say when he finds out that you killed his brother?"

"Somehow, I don't think you're that fragile." Cassy smiled coldly before looking at Hulk, pointed at Loki and said, "Hulk… SMASH!"

Even before Loki could think, Hulk slammed into him with an ear-piercing roar. It was so loud that she thanked her stars for remembering toward the place or the whole ship would've heard him. Hulk raised his fist over his head and slammed it down on the God. Loki tried to fight, to free himself enough to use his magic, but Hulk was faster. Within seconds he had Loki in a tight grasp and he slammed the God down multiple times with force that made Cassy grimace. The impact of the hit was so strong that it shook the cage and she was surprised that it hadn't fallen.

Loki went lax in his grip, but she let Hulk hit him a few more times, just to make sure he was faking it. Once she was sure, the Asgardian was… asleep, she called, "Alright buddy. I think that's enough. I don't want him to die."

Hulk looked at her strangely but huffed before dropping Loki on the floor like a rag doll. She felt bad for the man, but he wouldn't have cooperated voluntarily and there was no way she was going to let her friends die because of his revenge spree.

"You did good, buddy." She patted Hulk's arm and smiled up at him.

She turned around, only to see Tony gawking at them with wide eyes from out of the glass and she turned back before he could speak. She didn't have time for his ramblings right now because she was sure Loki wouldn't stay down for long.

She knelt next to his prone form, noticing with relief that he was breathing steadily and seemed to be fine. Pulling the vial from her pocket, she poured it into his mouth. Normally, three drops would've been more than enough for a human, but she poured six to eight, just in case it didn't work the same on a God.

She took a deep breath before pointing the elder wand at him and whispered, "Legilimens."

It didn't take her long to find what she was looking for. As she delved deeper, she saw several flashes – Thor and his friends poking fun at him because he was a magic user which was only for women; finding out that he was a Frost Giant, adopted, not truly the son of Odin and Frigga after nearly a millennia; Odin's constant disappointment and a desperate urge to earn his father's praise; falling deep-deep-deep-down into the abyss, and finally, she saw what she was looking for – the reason he allowed himself to be captured was to create a diversion, so Erik could build the portal with the Tesseract from Stark Tower without attention to shuttle his alien army on Earth and to gain subjugation, he needed to defeat the Avengers with the Chitauri army, something that wouldn't be difficult if they're dead because of Hulk.

Cassy was about to retreat when she was thrown abruptly. Startled, she looked up only to come face to face with a reddish-purply creature who grinned at her menacingly. He was wearing a gold and purple helmet which gave him a gladiatorial aesthetic. Her eyes widened when she looked into his violet eyes which were twinkling madly as he stared at her, making her stumble back as sudden panic filled her.

'How? How was he able to see her?'

As if hearing her thoughts, his grin widened and he said, "Now that I know who you are, I know where to find you. I'll be seeing you soon."

She retreated at once, pulling out of Loki's mind, but not before she heard another hissed whisper, "Retrieve the sceptre at once, you fool!"

Her green eyes collided with Loki's green's, which were wide just like her, but he blinked and in place of green, now there was blue. She didn't get time to understand what had happened, not until she flew back and the back of her head collided with the glass with a loud crack.

She ignored the shout coming from Tony and stood up shakily from where she had fallen, glad that she was still holding her wand and pointed it at him before asking, "Who was he?"

Loki looked at her with rage-filled eyes and mumbled through gritted teeth, "The mad titan."

"What does he want?" She asked again.

This time, he didn't answer, instead, he pulled out a dagger and threw it at her with all his strength. Cassy jumped to the side, the dagger narrowly missing her heart, but it pierced her shoulder. She flinched with pain and bit her lip to stop the wail which wanted to escape because that fucking hurt!

Hulk, who had been standing beside them, roared before swatting Loki, who flew before colliding with the glass, just like she had a few seconds ago, but with much more force than any of them could've anticipated.

She took that as an opportunity and shouted, "Petrificus Totalus!"

Loki's limbs snapped together and he froze where he was.

She looked at Hulk who was still beating Loki and winced before calling, "You did good, big guy!"

He spun around, jumping in front of her and roared right in her face. When she didn't flinch away as he had probably expected, he grunted angrily and snarled, "Magic girl, hurt."

"I'm fine, buddy." She touched the back of his hand and assured him, despite the fact that the pain in her head was killing her and she could feel black spots forming in front of her eyes.

He looked back at Loki's form before letting out a grunt that sounded somewhat dissatisfied.

Cassy looked him right in the eyes, knowing that he understood her and muttered softly, "You're a really good friend."

Now he huffed before giant fingers wrapped around her gently and then he pulled her up, holding her against his chest like a child. Suddenly, his grip loosened and he transformed into Bruce, leaving her standing in front a very naked scientist.

Her eyes widened and her ears turned red. Quickly she murmured, "Let's get out of here, shall we?"

With that, she turned around and rushed outside, not a good decision because she staggered on her feet and Tony had to hold her to keep her upright. She grunted thanks before closing the door of the cage with a wave of her wand and setting up the wards momentarily. She needed to think about everything she had witnessed inside Loki's head, she needed to tell everyone what he was planning and she needed to inform Thor that his brother was being controlled by a purple alien, but first, she needed a pain potion. Her head was killing her.

She heard a loud gasp and turned to see both Bruce and Tony staring at her with horror.

She must've made some noise because surprisingly, it was Bruce who spoke, "You're hurt."

Cassy resisted the urge to roll her eyes because obviously she was hurt. Her head had collided with a glass wall, but instead, she blinked when she felt something wet dripping down the back of her top. She touched the back of her head and was taken aback when her hand came wet.

'Oh.' She thought belatedly. 'That's why everything was whirling.'

"I don't feel so good." She mumbled, looking at the two men before her eyes rolled at the back of her head.

The next thing she remembered was someone catching her before she could hit the ground.
