A/N: MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all, here's a little something from me to you guys. This story was written after that Christmas song "Christmas Shoes" by "Bob Carlisle" so, ENJOY!
It was almost Christmas time and there I was, in another line trying to buy that last gift or two. I really wasn't in the Christmas mood this year, but I knew how Shan could get around this time of the year so I decided to play nice and help her with her somewhat shopping. A groan escaped me as I watched my sister as she was trying to find something special for Uncle Frank.
Anyway, while I was in line with my items, I couldn't believe my eyes. Standing right in front of me was a little boy: and he was waiting anxiously. A small smirk had escaped me I couldn't help it. He was pacing around like little boys do, actually he reminds me of me when I was his age. However, when I saw the item in his hands I blinked.
In his hands he heldA pair of shoes. His clothes were worn and old, and he was dirty from head to toe. And when it was his time to pay: I couldn't believe what I heard him say...
"Sir, I wanna buy these shoes for my mama, please? It's Christmas Eve... and these shoes are just her size. Could you hurry sir, Daddy says there's not much time. You see, she's been sick for quite a while: and Iknow these shoes will make her smile. And I want her to look beautiful if mama meets The Harvest Goddess tonight."
I just stood there, watching as they were counting the penny's that the boy had for what seemed like years, then theCashier finally said, "Son, there's not enough here."
The little boy had searched his pockets frantically, then he turned and he looked up at me and said: "Mama made Christmas good at our house, though, most years she just did without... Tell me sir, what am I gonna do? Some how I gotta buy her these Christmas shoes."
I couldn't help but felt something in my heart for once. Looking at the child for a moment, I turned to the cashier and laid the money down. "It's on me." I couldn't help my emotions that I didn't know I had: I had to help him out alright?
I'll never forget the look that the child gave me when he said: "Mama's gonna look so great!"
"Yeah you're welcome kid." I replied, Patting his head.
Now, I swear I caught a glimpse of heaven's love as the boy thanked me once again and ran out, something told me that Dessie had sent me that little boy to remind me what Christmas is all about, helping others who really needs it the most.
"Thanks Dessie." I let out a smirk as I paid for my own items and Shan approached.
"Henry? What's up with you? You look like you've been hit with Christmas spirit for once." She smirked.
Returning her smirk I also poked her arm playfully. "You could say that, let's just say I was reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. Now, come on sis, let's go back to Westown."
