CHAPTER NINE
Harry smiled when arms wrapped around his waist and he felt the bristle of Maegor's beard against the side of his throat before his husband buried his face into the join between his shoulder and throat, soft kisses being placed there every now and then as they stood there for almost half an hour, just soaking up each others presence as they stared out over the Bay.
"It is good seeing you up and about, more than I thought it would be," Maegor said softly into Harry's ear as he rested his chin on Harry's shoulder.
"It is good to be up," Harry said but he waited, knowing that there was more than Maegor needed to say.
"I truly do not know what it is that I would have done should you or Daenerys have…I felt as though I was on a blade edge, and should the news reach me that you had…I think I would have burned everything, destroyed everything, I would have tried to melt this whole sorry land into nothing but waste," Maegor admitted what he had been holding close to his chest.
"You wouldn't have," Harry said with so much certainty that Maegor was already shaking his head.
"I could feel it, in my chest, the desire, to make everyone hurt as I was hurting,"
"The desire was there, but you wouldn't have done it. You are stronger than that," Harry turned in Maegor's arms and cupped his face, Maegor reached up and laid his hand carefully over Harry's still bandaged one.
"You have too much faith in me," Maegor shook his head. "Far too much, I would burn everything with me," he said quietly before leaning down and sealing their lips together before Harry could argue with him, stealing his words for kisses instead as Harry sank into him.
"I am sorry you were so worried," Harry said when they parted, stroking his fingers over Maegor's brow.
"You saved our daughter from an assassin, you have nothing to apologise for," Maegor snorted.
"Still…I hate knowing how worried you were," Harry frowned.
"You were fighting for your life, worrying is nothing compared to that," Maegor shook his head.
"I was unconscious and unaware for most of it," Harry shrugged.
"Do you like arguing with me? Maegor huffed amused.
"Maybe a little," Harry pinched his finger and thumb together.
"Minx," Maegor snorted, leaning down to kiss Harry again.
"You look thoughtful," Harry said leaning back against the windowsill.
"I am," Maegor lifted Harry onto the windowsill so he was sitting on it, careful with him considering his side was still healing, before he stepped between his legs as he cupped the outside of Harry's thighs, just holding onto him.
"About anything in particular?" Harry asked, quite happy with the new arrangement.
"Despite everything that we have been through, she is the last of the really large immediate threats to us. We have dealt with the Maesters, we have dealt with the Hightowers, Alyssa has been revealed and she will soon be dead and any that may have sided with her along with her. There will always be threats of course, and we must be vigilant, but they are the large threats right now," Maegor hummed.
"I have been thinking, we need a new Master of Whispers, what about splitting the job with Severus," Harry suggested.
"He does hear a lot, more than people expect him to hear," Maegor nodded. "I was thinking about us having a Royal Progress, with Daenerys,"
"That would be a good idea," Harry brightened.
"You really like the idea," Maegor stated noticing the shine in his green eyes.
"I love being here, and the politics and all that, but maybe a little time away from the Capital would be good for us both, and I have not seen a lot of Westeros, only really the lands around the Lightning Isle, Dragonstone, here and what I was able to see when I travelled here to marry you, but then it was rather rushed. A break away for a Royal Progress could be enjoyable," Harry said with a growing smile.
"Only you would think a Royal Progress would be relaxing," Maegor snorted.
"More people to work my charm on and manipulate around to my way of thinking, I am getting bored playing with the idiot Lords and Ladies here," Harry laughed. "We can also visit the Schools,"
"I was thinking that, see how they are doing, make sure that they are running right from the off and that there are no bad apples," Maegor nodded.
"We should offer Jaehaerys and Alysanne to come with us," Harry said thoughtfully.
"Not Viserys?"
"He is too shy, he would want to stay, he is getting close with Visenya," Harry smiled softly. His mother in law had taken the shy boy under her wing and was forming a good relationship with him. "I don't think that he would want to leave her,"
"That is true," Maegor said and then chuckled. "Not long ago I would never have imagined making a progress or going anywhere without my mother and I don't think she would have been comfortable with me doing it either,"
"Is that a bad thing?" Harry thought he knew the answer but still there was a little worry at the back of his head.
"No, our relationship is better, healthier for it," Maegor smiled. "We have more people now,"
Harry pulled his husband in for a kiss at that, unable to help himself as warmth bloomed in his chest at seeing the contentment on his face.
Rhaena Targaryen landing in Kings Landing was unexpected, and Harry found himself pulling a face when they were told. Maegor's eldest niece was an unknown factor, and after everything that they had been through, her arrival was the last thing that Harry really wanted to have to deal with.
He was only just up and about on his feet and able to do work. Sighing he nodded to Severus who had come to tell him of the Princess's arrival.
"Shall I get your robes?" Severus asked.
"Yes please," Harry said standing from his desk.
"The King won't be happy," Loral sighed, looking pleadingly at Harry who just smiled back at him.
"There there," Severus said dryly, holding Harry's red robes out to him.
"Not those ones, the dark black ones please," Harry shook his head, Severus smirked a little at him, a proud expression on his face before he turned to go and get the requested set of robes.
"You shouldn't be bringing him that news, there is a reason King Maegor did not send a messenger," Owen scowled at Severus even as he helped Harry into his robes.
"Yes and I shall be having words with him about that," Harry huffed.
"We will look forward to those fireworks," Loral chuckled.
"My money is on you Sire, not that I shall say that to the King's face," Owen managed to grin.
"I appreciate the confidence," Harry laughed before turning and leaving the room, ignoring the glares Owen and Loral were giving an unrepentant Severus.
Maegor's face when the side doors opened and Harry swept into the Throne room was as though he had sucked on a lemon, and Harry ignored the mutterings of the Lords and Ladies in the room as they saw him for the first time since the attack.
All their eyes went to the stark white bandages around his hand, standing out against the dark fabric of his robes as he slowly made his way across the dais to take his normal position at the base of the Iron Throne that had been empty for the two months since the attack.
Slowly a cheer formed in the throne room, a good few people calling out to him and calling blessings for his health, but while Harry smiled and nodded around them in thanks he had eyes only for the blonde woman standing at the foot of the dais.
She was very similar to her mother, and she had the same proud jut to her chin, her head tilted back as she stared right back at him. He had heard that when she was a child she had been very shy and uncertain, a daydreamer hence the name of her dragon, Dreamfyre. The adult standing in front of him had been through a lot, and she was hardened and proud as she stood there.
Harry felt as though there was not much dreaming left in her as his green eyes met her lavender ones.
"Perhaps it would be better to take this discussion into the family room where we can have a private conversation considering this is a family matter," Harry said softly once the cheering had stopped.
"You would prefer that wouldn't you, hide it all away, quieten me, bury all your wrongdoings and hide them from the world!" Rhaena spat.
Harry wanted to sigh, but he restrained himself and instead kept a calm, pleasant expression on his face.
"And pray tell, what wrongdoings were those, Princess?" He asked, seeing her eyes narrow as he made sure to give her the title.
"Where are my siblings? What have you done with them?" She asked cooly.
"Your brothers can be fetched here immediately should you wish, Alysanne…"
"What have you done with my sister?!" Rhaena spat out the words like a snake from Dorne spat venom before Harry could carry on. This time he allowed himself to let out a pointed sigh.
"As I was about to say," he said gently, with a soft touch of reprimand to his voice, "Alysanne is currently at her lessons in the school here in King's Landing, should you wish to urgently see here she can be summoned, but it will take a little longer, or you can wait till she has finished, she should be back in around an hour or two depending on how lost she gets in the library,"
"I.."
"In fact, send word to the boys that their sister is here, I do not wish for them to hear accidentally," Harry smiled at a messenger, and then as the man started to leave he turned to face Rhaena as he carried on, "or to be accused of hiding them away,"
Rhaena's eyes narrowed and she looked around as those watching muttered, her initial glance clearly said that she believed they were reacting against Harry, but it was quickly apparent that it was not.
"Rhaena," Viserys smiled when he walked into the throne room, but he and Jaehaerys came to stand on either side of Harry.
"Don't look at me like that boys, I am quite fine," Harry chuckled seeing the looks that they were giving him from the corner of their eyes.
"You're still meant to be resting," Jaehaerys scowled a little.
"You sound like your uncle," Harry chuckled.
"Hmm," Maegor grunted from the Throne before standing, making his way down as well.
"Are you not going to come greet me?" Rhaena asked, looking between the boys.
"It has been a long time since we saw you," Viserys nodded, though it was an accusation rather than the statement it was framed to be.
Rhaena turned her narrowed eyes back onto Harry who met them and raised his eyebrow, he knew the accusation that she was going to try and throw at him, and he was not in the mood for it.
"I wouldn't recommend suggesting that Uncle Harry or Uncle Maegor have said or convinced us of anything, you have not even written to us in the time that you have been gone," Jaehaerys said as Rhaena opened her mouth.
Harry and Maegor turn to look at the boy surprised, it was the first time that he had called them such, and they could see the slight flush sitting high on his cheeks, but he wasn't moving in regard to it.
"As I said, this is more a family matter, perhaps we should discuss this somewhere more suitable?" Harry said softly.
"Fine," Rhaena snapped. "If something happens to me at least it will be known by those here," She said a little unintelligible, waving to the crowd behind her, she flushed a little when she caught the slightly baffled looks that she was receiving.
She swept her skirts up and hurried up the stairs and to the right when Harry indicated before he allowed himself to look back at Maegor and met his exasperated purple eyes. Harry squeezed Jaehaerys' shoulder as they walked out of the room following behind Rhaena.
Viserys stepped a little closer to Maegor when they were in the hallway and Rhaena spun to look at them.
"This way," Harry motioned down the hallway before she could say anything, and Jaehaerys narrowed his eyes in a way that was nearly identical to Rhaena; before walking off down the hallway, leaving Rhaena no choice really but to follow.
"This isn't what I was expecting," Rhaena muttered walking into the cosy family room that was clearly well used considering the debris that was strewn across it.
"Were you expecting chains and torture chairs with blood for decoration?" Harry huffed, grimacing as he clutched his side when a shoot of pain went through it.
"You should not be up and around as it is, never mind racing through the castle," Maegor growled, taking Harry's arm and helping him to sit down on the sofa.
"I didn't race, Loral and Owen wouldn't allow me to," Harry snorted.
"And who told you anyway?"
"Severus," Owen and Loral said at the same time.
"He and I will be having words," Maegor growled.
"I will be fine after a rest," Harry waved him off.
"I take this is all a show for me?" Rhaena sneered.
"Yes, the assassin stabbing me under a month ago, and my dealing with the aftermath of it is completely for you," Harry said dryly and watched a flush of embarrassment stain Rhaena's cheeks.
"I don't know why you are coming here and attacking Rhaena," Viserys said quietly as he sat down next to Harry and held out the cup of tea in his hands to the man.
"Our mother is in the Black Cells!" Rhaena said exasperatedly.
"After trying to have Daenerys assassinated and nearly killing Uncle Harry," Viserys snorted.
"He killed our brother, my husband! The father of my daughters!" Rhaena waved at Maegor who tensed visibly.
"Who was an adult, and made adult choices. Daenerys is a baby," Jaehaerys said before Harry or Maegor could answer.
"That isn't…it is…" Rhaena stammered before finally saying. "My siblings are being kept here! My mother is being kept here!" Rhaena spluttered.
"Your siblings are perfectly safe, and have the option of doing whatever it is that they wish to do, they are giving it a try living here. Your mother tried to kill the heir to the throne, a baby, she made her own choices," Harry said.
"You are going to execute her then?" Rhaena said with so much accusation in her tone that Harry could not help the tired sigh that slipped from his lips.
"You are a mother Rhaena, what would you do if someone tried to kill one of your daughters?" Harry said.
"Are you threatening my daughters?!" Rhaena said almost triumphantly.
"ENOUGH!" Maegor rumbled, and all eyes turned to him. "Harrison has been through enough recently, do not try and make his words into something that they are not for the sake of having something to argue with him about!"
"He brought my daughters into this!" Rhaena hissed.
"As an example, to try and help you understand the choices that we have to make and why we are making them," Maegor shook his head.
"If you are feeling so threatened then why did you come here, by yourself, to confront Uncle Maegor and Uncle Harry? If you really believe that they are the threat that you are making them out to be, you are clearly fearless considering you have done nothing but provoke them," Jaehaerys frowned.
"I am scared! Have you forgotten our brother, my husband?" Rhaena narrowed her eyes.
"We have not, and we miss him. However, Aegon made his choices, knowing what Uncle Maegor's reaction was going to be, and what happened, happened. Do we miss him, yes, do we wish that he was here with us, yes, but he isn't, he rebelled against the crowned King of the Country," Jaehaerys said firmly.
"Uncle Maegor is sorry for what happened," Viserys added softly.
"And what? You believe that because he told you?" Rhaena sneered.
"Don't speak to me like that," Viserys frowned, visibly stunning the Princess that he was standing up to her.
"Make whatever choice that you wish Rhaena, but don't use us as an excuse to come and take your anger out or whatever it is this is," Jaehaerys shook his head as Harry took Viserys' hand and squeezed it gently.
"So you are just going to abandon Mother!" Rhaena shouted.
"She is our mother, and we will always love her, but she made a choice to kill a baby, she is not someone that I recognise from who she was before," Viserys shook his head.
"She has not supported you, she has left you to look after yourself and the girls, she hasn't sent a penny towards supporting you, that has come from Uncle Maegor to the Farman family to help keep you and the girls in comfort," Jaehaerys said, and then snorted at the look Maegor gave him, "I looked at Mother's books and saw nothing going towards Rhaena and the girls, it did not take a genius to work out where that money is coming from,"
"Are you aiming to be my Master of Whispers," Maegor snorted, looking a little disgruntled at being discovered.
"No, but Alysanne and I will be on your Small Council," Jaehaerys grinned.
"I have no doubt of that," Harry laughed.
"I don't need your guilt money!" Rhaena spat, though she looked shaken at the revelation, whether it was that her mother had left her and her daughters to fend for themselves, or because Maegor had been supporting them this whole time, or both Harry was not sure.
"It isn't guilt money," Maegor said firmly.
"Then what is it," Rhaena hissed.
"You are my brother's daughter, they are his Granddaughters, I am not going to see them starve, or you," Maegor said. Harry felt his heart ache for his husband, constantly having to say out loud that he cared for his brother and being dismissed for it.
"You are fools if you think he is doing anything but to trick you!" Rhaena said to her brothers.
"It was guilt a minute ago, it is difficult for someone to be guilty and plot against us at the same time," Alysanne said walking into the room. "I saw Draemfyre flying over the school," She explained as she walked over to Jaehaerys' side and took his hand.
"He is just looking to do away with you all!" Rhaena shook her head.
"He could have done that with Mother, legally, and no one really would have raised too much of a fuss considering what happened," Jaehaerys shrugged.
"And the fact that she announced that she had done it to the throne room thinking that they would support her," Alysanne nodded.
"Instead Uncle Harry and Uncle Maegor have offered for us to live with them, where if something does happen to us everyone will be talking about it and be suspicious," Viserys nodded.
"You think that you are going to have any power? You think you are really going to sit on the Small Council!" Rhaena said to Alysanne directly at the end.
"Considering if I do a good job it will be Daenerys' Small Council we will also be sitting on, yes," Alyssane nodded.
"The minute they have a boy, she will be set to the side," Rhaena snorted.
"Uncle Maegor and Uncle Harry aren't mother and father, I truly believe that Daenerys will be their heir, and any boys that come along will be consort, not King," Alysanne said firmly.
"Of course, she will be, she was the firstborn, sex doesn't matter," Maegor nodded.
"It will when you have a son," Rhaena snorted.
"Have you met Visenya?" Harry asked shuffling a little further back on the sofa to try and get comfy.
"Yes, obviously," Rhaena said when it was clear he was waiting for an answer.
"Why would we think a woman wasn't equally as capable as a man with her as an example, not to mention that Alysanne is smarter already than half the Lords in the Court who have had a full education," Harry said.
"And Lily," Maegor grunted.
"Uncle Harry's mother," Viserys said for Rhaena when she looked confused.
"It isn't the way things are done," Rhaena shook her head.
"The Targaryen reign is only in its second generation, there is no saying how things are done, we're going to set the rules and make sure that they aren't idiotic, like saying what is between someone's legs determines how intelligent or capable that they are," Harry shrugged.
"That isn't…" Rhaena blinked and was clearly unsure as to what to say in response.
"What your daughters want to be, they can be, who they want to love, they can love," Harry said softly, and Rhaena blanched.
"You have been spying on me!" She accused.
"There is no need for me to, I have heard enough about your past to put two and two together," Harry said calmly.
"And you're not going to make me marry someone politically to keep my girls safe?" Rhaena said, and the fear was clear in her voice.
"Political marriages will always unfortunately be necessary, however, they can be looked at and discussed, and you have already been married and had children, Targaryen children, it doesn't matter if they are male or female," Harry said.
"It would never be demanded or expected for any of you, or our children to marry just because we say you are to marry," Maegor shook his head. "It will be a discussion,"
"We asked about Jaehaerys and me marrying and they said yes, when they could have far better marriages arranged for us that would benefit them," Alysanne nodded.
"We do not want you to be unhappy, we do not want you to be forced into anything, that is not happening while we are around if we can help it," Harry nodded.
"Mother wanted me to marry Androw Farman," Rhaena said and then blinked when Harry choked seemingly on air before grimacing and clutching his injured side.
"Ow ow ow ow," He groaned.
"Are you ok?" Rhaena asked, a little concerned and baffled at the same time.
"I am, but what the fuck, that is the most ridiculous match I could think of, especially considering half the realm knows that you and Elissa are together," Harry rolled his eyes. "That is only going to end in disaster,"
"I…" Rhaena looked around them and then blurted out, "It isn't fair!"
"What isn't," Harry said gently, leaning forward a little.
"Aegon and I married and were attacked, we were locked into a castle, forced to rely upon and trust in the Lords not to surrender us to the crowds surrounding the city baying for our blood, I was forced to give birth to my daughters essentially in prison! Now you are a man married to a man, you have a baby, and everyone is celebrating you! Everyone loves you! Alysanne and Jaehaerys are being married and no one has said anything about it! They're accepting it!" Rhaena's voice got louder and louder, "Aegon and I were never accepted, if we had been things would have been different! Father might still be alive, mother wouldn't be in the Black Cells, and Aegon would still be here!"
"Father wasn't strong enough," Jaehaerys said heavily.
"How can you…" Rhaena went to carry on shouting but Jaehaerys shook his head.
"No, he wasn't. Uncle Maegor had the strength to stand up to the people and say no, to make them accept our way, people can grumble, but they won't rebel. Father didn't have the strength to do what needed to be done. Uncle Maegor and Uncle Harry have also routed out the Maesters and Hightowers who were causing a lot of those problems and stirring up the trouble, they were the ones that stirred up the rebellion against you and Aegon marrying. Father wouldn't have been able to crush them and stop that the way Uncle Maegor and Uncle Harry have. They would have killed off the dragons,"
"Father…"
"We can love him and still acknowledge that he wasn't right for the role, that he wasn't strong enough for it," Alysanne sighed.
"The events that happened are proof of that, no matter how hard it is to think and acknowledge," Viserys said softly.
"And I suppose we are safe now because he took the throne," Rhaena pointed to Maegor.
"Yes," Jaehaerys said as Maegor opened his mouth. "At the end of the day when you look at where we were at the end of Father's reign, and through most of it, and where we are now, he is safer and better off,"
"I…"
"You are not going to like me saying this, but perhaps you should take a little time to yourself to think this over. A lot of things have been said here. You can have a room here in the Keep, fly back to Fairisle and return, whichever would be best for yourself," Harry said and watched her swell up clearly ready to start shouting again.
"He is not suggesting it for anything but your own good, and ours. We have spoken about a lot of difficult things, and it is becoming difficult to think clearly," Alysanne said.
"And we do not wish to argue with you, but you seem to want to find an argument with everything," Viserys added.
"I…" Rhaena clamped her jaw shut. "I am just meant to leave mother?"
"She made a choice, a despicable one, and now she is facing the consequences of those choices," Jaehaerys said. "Even if we were asked to plead on her behalf I would not,"
"How can you say that!" Rhaena hissed.
"She tried to have a baby killed!" Alysanne threw her hands up, "there is no other way to say it!"
"She is our mother!"
"Who tried to have a baby killed!"
"She was doing it for us!"
"She was doing it for herself!"
"Enough!" Maegor said when the siblings seemed ready to descend into another round of arguing.
"Would you like to stay here?" Harry asked Rhaena.
"No!" She snapped at him.
"Fair enough," Harry took Maegor's hand when he opened his mouth, a dark scowl on his face. "Youare welcomed back whenever you wish to return,"
"I doubt that," She scowled at him.
"You are Maegor's niece, his brother's daughter, you have done nothing wrong to us, you are welcome back here at any time, and the girls should you feel comfortable bringing them, and I swear on Daenerys' life no harm will come to them from us," Harry said softly.
Rhaena paused for a second, a storm of emotions sweeping over her face before she turned and moved to the doorway. She froze in the doorway though, the door still held in her hand, staring out into the corridor.
"Mother planned to marry me to Farman, but she planned to marry Rogar Baratheon, and he had agreed," She said before sweeping from the room.
"Send word that I want evidence found of this arrangement if there is one," Maegor said to Visys. The guard bowed and moved from the room, no doubt to take word to the Guards who were ripping apart Alyssa's rooms at Dragonstone.
"Are you all ok?" Harry asked the siblings concerned.
"Why is she being so stubborn about it?" Alysanne sighed, dropping down onto the sofa.
"She lost her husband, he was your brother, but she was married to him as well, the father of her children. As much as logically she can understand what happened it is different for her," Harry sighed. "I just hope that she does not become bitter with it,"
"We can try and be there for her," Alysanne looked to Jaehaerys whose lips were pinched together,
"She always said that she did not want power, but she always reached for it. She has always thrown tantrums when she did not get her own way, she acted out during the royal progress of mother and father, being rude to the lords and ladies, even the ones housing us, Father's supporters. She essentially threw a tantrum until Mother and Father sent for Melony Piper to join them," Jaehaerys frowned.
"Her behaviour was always written off as being shy, but she always became sullen and sulky if she did not get her way. It was Father's first progress and myself, Aegon and Rhaena all knew how important it was that it went well, but she still sulked and was rude because Dreamfyre and Melony had not been allowed to come with her. She was intolerable to the point where even Aegon did not want to be near her until Mother and Father gave in and summoned Melony, after that she was all lightness and happiness. A lot of the Lords said how rude she had been and they were not impressed at all with her. I think a part of the reaction against her and Aegon came from some of those Lords who had seen who their future Queen could be," Viserys sighed.
"Farman is probably having a lucky escape not marrying her, she would treat him poorly I think," Jaehaerys nodded.
"I did not know that you thought that way about her," Maegor blinked at them.
"Our relationship has always been difficult with her, she always thought herself above us I think, and even though we have written to her many times in regard to her and the girls, she has not written back once," Jaehaerys nodded.
"I worry about the girls," Alysanne sighed.
"Hopefully we can encourage her to at least allow them to attend the school and they will have some form of the world outside of her if she will not try and make herself part of the Court," Harry sighed, staring at the door that she left from.
"What is it my love?" Maegor asked, concerned cupping Harry's face.
"I do not think that she is any real danger to us, but I do feel like she could be a real thorn in our side," Harry said.
"That sums her up pretty well," Alysanne sighed.
"We have your back," Viserys said earnestly, making Harry smile.
"That means more to us than you will know," Maegor said gruffly, but the three children understood how he meant it.
"Ow," Harry huffed.
"Do not be such a baby about it, especially as you are going to get my head taken off," Severus snorted looking to where Maegor was watching intently.
"It hurt," Harry huffed. "Ow!"
"By the gods," Severus sighed when Loral and Owen stepped closer, narrowing their eyes on him. "All done!" He threw his hands up after cutting and pulling the last stitch free from Harry's side.
"I wouldn't have left them in there for that long," Clarke hummed as she looked over Harry's side before nodding in approval anyway.
"I wanted to make sure that it was given enough time to heal," Severus huffed, and then the two of them were off arguing as they cleaned away the medical debris.
"Are you ok? Did it hurt a lot?" Maegor asked, stepping in front of Harry and looking him over.
"It was just sensitive, it didn't hurt that much," Visenya said, and then eyed Harry, "Right?" she double-checked making Harry chuckle.
"It was, I am fine now, and you know I like winding Severus up,"
"...be three days after the skin is fusing together. I heard that as well, Your Majesty!" Severus said mockingly in the middle of his argument with Clarke. "Lupin, back me up!"
"What am I backing you up in?" Remus asked startled having just walked into the room.
"Never mind them, we need to get you measured for your teacher's robes," Harry said.
"Yes of course…wait my what?" Remus blinked.
"Your teacher's robes, there is a position open for Literature and History, if you want it," Harry smiled at him.
"But…I haven't…"
"This isn't anything to do with your friendship with mother, father and Sirius," Harry shook his head.
"If anything Sirius has worked against you," Visenya snorted.
"This is completely on you and your abilities, I remember you teaching me when I was younger and think you're perfect for the School," Harry smiled.
"I would be…honoured!" Remus choked.
"Well, time to get measured up then," Visenya snagged his arm and took him through to the next room, conveniently leaving Harry and Maegor by themselves.
"She is subtle," Harry grinned.
"She made a joke, an actual funny one," Maegor snorted. "I wish I could wrap you and Daenerys and the children in cotton wool," He sighed.
"We will all be just fine, they're clever kids, and determined, and we are watching out for them," Harry settled back onto the table taking Maegor's hands in his, both of them unaware of Jaehaerys standing just outside the door. Loral and Owen shared a look and then pointedly faced forward when the young Prince looked at them in challenge.
"Physically yes, but after everything that has happened, losing Aenys so young, their mother, knowing what happened with Aegon and me, and now Rhaena as well…I worry for them," Maegor sighed deeply.
"They're strong kids, and they understand the politics of things, no matter how personal it is, they understand that with the privileges that they have, there is sacrifice as well, especially to try and keep everyone safe, or as many of us safe as we can. Mentally, they have been through the wringer, but with love and care, and patience, I know that they will be just fine, and they seem to be ok taking that from us," Harry said softly, cupping Maegor's face.
"They haven't called us Uncle since Rhaena five days ago," Maegor frowned a little.
"Maybe they are unsure how we took it, especially as it seemed a little on the spot when in the middle of the argument," Harry hummed.
"It was, we thought that you might think we were being impertinent," Jaehaerys said walking in.
"By the Gods! You Targaryens need bells!" Harry yelped, clutching his chest having jumped visibly.
"Eavesdropping?" Maegor narrowed his eyes on his nephew who just smiled brightly back at him.
"I was just waiting for the right time to come in and see how Uncle Harry was, Uncle Maegor,"
"Don't be impertinent," Maegor snorted.
"I would never!" Jaehaerys grinned.
"Your father would have adored you," Maegor chuckled.
"Really?" Jaehaerys asked, sobering quickly.
"Yes, he would have loved how quick, intelligent, and cheeky you are," Maegor nodded, frowning a little in confusion.
"Mother said…" Jaehaerys started to say and then cut himself off, but it was enough. He jumped when Maegor's large hand dropped onto the top of his head before sliding back to cup it gently before he lowered himself so that his amethyst and violet eyes met Jaehaerys' lavender eyes.
"Your father would have absolutely adored all of you, and been very proud of you for choosing the right choices in the hardest of circumstances. I think he would have admired you for it, though I loved him dearly, even he would admit that when it came to making choices he was not decisive, the fact you are, I believe that he would have been very proud of," Maegor smiled.
"I remember him struggling to make a choice while we were on Dragonstone, and wishing that he would just make one as he cycled around them. He must have said a million times about sending for you, but Mother and Rogar Baratheon said that he shouldn't back down on your exile,"
Maegor sucked in a breath and closed his eyes as his head dropped.
"I always wondered why he did not send for me, I thought it was because he thought that he could not trust me at all anymore," Maegor admitted.
"He wanted to, Visenya said that he should, but Mother and Rogar told him it would make him look weak," Jaehaerys shook his head. "He did anyway,"
"Jaehaerys," Maegor opened his eyes and looked at the boy.
"I loved him, but he couldn't make the firm choice that was needed, especially with the country in rebellion. Viserys is like father, gentle and wants to see the best and brightest of everything, Alysanne…she does not really remember, she was too young. Mother made out that if we had sent for you, you would have taken the chance to steal the throne from Father, but I know differently now, speaking to you when you visited Dragonstone, I saw how much you cared, and how much Aegon had hurt you, how much really his choices had left you with no choice, how much mother's choices had left you with no choice,"
"You're going to be a very impressive man," Harry smiled softly as Maegor seemed at a loss at what to say.
"I feel safe for the first time that I can truly remember, and I feel cared for. I want to stay here, with you, and help, be part of your Council when I am old enough,"
"You are family," Maegor said roughly, but from the smile that Jaehaerys gave, he understood.
"I will leave you two to make heart eyes at each other," Jaehaerys said walking away.
"We do not make heart eyes at each other!" Maegor shouted after the boy, flushing a little when laughter from Loral and Owen came from outside the door.
"You do, Viserys is already making up poetry about it and dreaming of his marriage turning out like yours," Jaehaerys grinned over his shoulder before he left.
"Insolent little…"
"Don't be such a grouchy dragon," Harry scolded.
"What did you call me?" Maegor spluttered as Harry hurried away. "I didn't even get a kiss!" he protested, grumbling when more laughter came from the guards.
Alyssa looked more than worse for wear, her time in the Black Cells had clearly been hard on her. Her long silver blonde hair was matted and greasy, dirt clinging to it. She was covered in dirt, her clothing ripped in places, hanging from her from having been worn for nearly two months straight day in, day out. Her skin was paler than normal, and her eyes were wide as she stared around at those gathered.
"Alyssa you stand here today under accusations of treachery, trying to kill the heir to the throne, and plotting to overthrow the crowned King of this Realm, do you have any words in your defence?" Daemon called into the room.
"He killed my son!" Alyssa shouted.
"He did, your son, who was rebelling against the crowned King of the Realm, and whose death would have been more slow and painful than the Dragon Riders death he was given," Daemon nodded. "Do you deny the accusations?"
"No!" Alyssa spat, and the whole room muttered. "That little brat should not even be here! She is no heir, and I hope she dies!"
The room exchanged horrified glances at the words while Harry and Maegor stood as straight-faced as they could manage to remain. Visenya gripped the hilt of her sword and James' shoulder as the dark-haired man looked as though he were about to start breathing fire himself.
"House Velaryon, do you have anything to say on behalf of your kin?" Maegor asked.
"Nothing," Daemon said from in front of Harry and Maegor and Alyssa sneered at him.
"Nothing," Corlys Velaryon stepped forward and met Alyssa's eyes as he spoke. She blinked at that, and disbelief crossed her face.
"I object!" Rhaena shouted, walking from the crowd.
"What is your objection?" Daemon asked, and the Princess paused, making Harry want to sigh. She seemed to do that to him a lot.
"What?" She said, pausing to look around.
"What legal grounds are you objecting against? Your mother has not only confessed to what she did but to not feeling any remorse for it, what are you objecting to," Daemon asked.
"She is my mother!" Rhaena shouted, and Harry remembered the words that Jaehaerys and Viserys had spoken about Rhaena and how she was when she thought she should get her own way.
"As she is mine," Jaehaerys stepped out from the side hall and walked over to stand by Harry, much to the muttering of the crowd.
They were getting far more of a show than they had been expecting, Harry thought dryly, looking around the eager faces of those crammed into the room. Lords and Ladies and nobles of all creeds had travelled far and wide to be here today.
"And I have no objection to what is happening. She committed a crime, and now she is facing the consequences of them," Jaehaerys nodded.
"They have done something to you!" Alyssa shrieked, "You would never have said such things before!"
"My siblings and I made our choice when we came here to warn our uncles against your plot, too late though we were, and there had been no chance for them to do anything to us by that point as you are accusing. All they have done since we have been here is support us, listen to us, and care for us," Jaehaerys shook his head.
"You are my children!" Alyssa hissed.
"We are your children, and fathers. I do not believe that he would have in any way condoned what you did to his niece, our cousin," Jaehaerys responded sharply, and Alyssa jerked back, clearly shocked at his argument.
"Princess, what is your legal objection?" Daemon asked Rhaena who opened and closed her mouth a few times.
"He killed my brother, my husband, my mother's son!" Rhaena pointed at Maegor and then flushed at the mutterings that went around the room, clearly not in her favour.
"The law of this country, set down long before the time of your grandfather Aegon I does not allow for an eye for an eye as legal justice, especially not when it is an adult son rebelling against the crowned King," Daemon held up his hands when Rhaena opened her mouth, "you do not need to agree whether or not he should be King, he was crowned and recognised by the Realm as their King! The law does not recognise an eye for an eye, especially an adult son rebelling being avenged upon a baby that has not seen six months yet!"
"I am a Princess, she is Dowager Queen!" Rhaena shouted.
"And Royals are not above the Laws of this land, especially not with something as serious as murder and treason," Jaehaerys tipped his chin up, "If it is allowed, then all that remains is chaos,"
"And if it were Alysanne in her place!" Rhaena sneered.
"Alysanne would never do something so foolish, but if it were, I would try and find a legal route to have her sentence eased. But there is no legal route here unless mother wishes to claim madness," Jaehaerys looked at his mother.
"I am not mad!" She sneered at him.
"Then there is only one outcome, execution," Jaehaerys nodded.
"No!" Rhaena stamped her foot.
"Guards," Maegor said lowly, and Rhaena shrieked as she was pulled to the side. "No, take her from the Hall, she should not see this," he said when they paused within the crowd.
"You should not either," Harry said gently to Jaehaerys, touching his shoulder.
"I need to," Jaehaerys shook his head and stood even taller.
"Are you sure?" Maegor asked concerned.
"Yes," Jaehaerys nodded. Harry and Maegor exchanged unhappy looks but they nodded to Daemon.
"The outcome of your actions is death. You would normally be hung, drawn and quartered, but as the Dowager Queen, you shall have dragon fire," Daemon stepped to the side, and Balerion raised his head from where he had been waiting.
"You can not do this! I am Queen!" Alyssa shouted.
"You are Queen Dowager, and you tried to murder the baby heir to the throne. You are nothing more than a traitor now," Maegor said coolly. "I hope that it will offer you comfort in your last moments, I swear on Balerion that your children and grandchildren will be safe as long as they do no harm to my family,"
Everyone's minds went to Princess Rhaena with the last part. Maegor reached over Harry and gripped Jaehaerys' shoulder as Balerion opened his mouth and they could all see the black flames gathering inside of his mouth.
"Dracarys," Maegor said softly.
Black flames gathered into the giant maw of Balerion as the whole room held its breath before he breathed them out over Alyssa. Jaehaerys froze in place as Alyssa screamed out, Maegor's hand gripped a little tighter onto his shoulder as they watched Balerion's flames devour Alyssa whole.
Silence filled the hall as everyone watched the remains of the former Queen being eaten up within the flames. Maegor inclined his head to Balerin who turned and took off through the open roof, and only once Balerion's tail disappeared from view did the family turn and leave the room.
As soon as the doors clanged shut behind them Jaehaerys turned and threw his arms around Maegor and buried his face into his shoulder as he gripped Harry's hand fiercely and tears wracked through his body.
"I needed to see it, I needed to be there," Jaehaerys managed to say through his tears as the two of them tried to comfort him, not knowing what it was that they could possibly say to offer that comfort.
Maegor opened his eyes confused, his hand reaching out for Blackfyre almost automatically despite his brain telling him that there wasn't a threat in the room.
"Whazit? Maeg…Flying spoons hmmm?" Harry muttered more asleep than awake. The giggle that broke the silent night air had him blinking his eyes fully open to find Viserys, Jaehaerys and Alysanne standing at the side of the bed, though Jaehaerys and Viserys were looking more than a little embarrassed.
"Are you ok?" Maegor asked, his voice rough with sleep.
"Moon is…summer the wind," Harry muttered, reaching out and lazily patting Maegor's face, and nearly taking his eye out with it.
"Is he ok?" Jaehaerys asked concerned.
"I thought he was off the pain medication," Viserys nodded.
"He sleep talks," Maegor carefully took Harry's hand and slipped it onto the pillow before looking at the three, "Are you ok?"
"We were struggling to sleep," Alysanne said for the three of them when her brothers clearly weren't going to. Maegor looked them over, their pale faces and wide eyes mixed in with their determination that they were going to be ok.
They had been determined through the last 24 hours since Alyssa's execution and all of them had been worried about them. He was relieved that they were finally looking for a little help, and even more than they were seeking it from him and Harry.
"Come on," Maegor lay back down.
"What?" Jaehaerys blinked at him.
"I have meetings in the morning, I am not staying awake all night for a sleepover," Maegor grunted.
"You want us to leave?" Viserys asked quietly.
"He said come on, not go away," Alysanne huffed.
"You want us to…" Jaehaerys cut himself off unsurely.
"In the bed," Maegor waved.
"You mean you want us to…" Viserys choked.
"What were you expecting when you came here?" Maegor huffed propping himself up on one arm.
"I don't know like pat us on the head and tell us it will be fine!" Jaehaerys exclaimed.
"Daenerys! Alysanne! Get off the moon!" Harry scolded, and the three kids tried to suppress their laughter.
"If you don't want to, that is no problem," Maegor said, concerned that he had misread the situation even though he was better at it in the last year.
"No," Alysanne said quickly, placing her knee on the bed. Slowly the three of them climbed onto the bed and settled at Harry and Maegor's feet, more Harry than Maegor considering their differences in height that was where the most space was. Maegor was thankful that their bed was so large.
The three of them started laughing when Maegor threw one of the covers down the bed so that they were completely buried under it. There was a little bit of shuffling around and when Maegor looked down the bed they had settled with Viserys and Jaehaerys on either side of Alysanne, curled up in a little line.
"Have I told you about when your father taught me how to properly ride Balerion?" Maegor asked into the dark night.
"No," Alysanne said, curiosity clean in her voice.
"Didn't you ride him to The Vale and claim it back the first time?" Viserys asked.
"Yes, I was clinging on for dear life and trying to work out what I was meant to do from watching mother, father, Aenys, and Rhaena," Maegor snorted. "My father's saddle was also a little too small,"
"But that is a long flight," Alyssane said.
"Incredibly wrong when your butt doesn't fit inside of the saddle so you're kind of hovering over it and clinging on praying you don't fall," Maegor said, settling back into his pillow.
"What did father say?" Jaehaerys asked.
"After congratulating me on not only claiming a Dragon, but claiming the largest Dragon, and then almost wetting himself laughing, he had Quicksilver saddled and we went out flying together…after he had a proper saddle commissioned for me and Balerion,"
"Did you have fun?" Viserys asked.
"No, he flew so that Balerion would tilt slightly, he would have fallen out of Quicksilver's saddle if he hadn't been locked into it with how hard he was laughing at my shout of fear,"
"Shout of fear huh?" Jaehaerys said while trying to smother his laughter.
"Shout of fear," Maegor growled.
"Where did you fly to?" Alysanne asked sweetly, making her uncle huff, not fooled at all.
"Why is it so busy in here?" Harry asked, confused as he sat up, reaching out to pull back the duvet for Maegor automatically as his husband climbed back into the bed with Daenerys in his arms.
"We had midnight chats, which considering I told them I had meetings this morning, they wouldn't shut up," Maegor grunted, settling against the headboard.
"Your bedhead is really impressive," Alysanne yawned.
"Rude," Harry pouted, trying to pat down his wild hair.
"It is too early for all this," Viserys groaned, shoving his face into the bed.
"You are a thief! And a swine!" The shout started Harry from his work, and he jumped to his feet as Loral and Owen reached for the swords, the three of them heading for the door. They got there in time to see James racing past them with a giggling Daenerys in his arms.
"I got there first!" James shouted.
"I have a Dragon! And I will roast you! Bring back my Granddaughter!" Visenya thundered, hurrying after him.
"Are you going to intervene?" Loral asked Harry curiously.
"Absolutely not," Harry snorted, going back into his study and back to his desk. "Are you ready for the Progress?"
"No!" Owen said firmly.
"Oh?" Harry looked up at his Guard surprised and saw the two of them looking mulish.
"It is hard enough to protect you here, never mind while we are on the road," Loral sighed unhappily.
"Nothing of what has happened has been your fault, I don't blame you for it," Harry said looking up from his paperwork at his guards.
"We blame ourselves," Owen shook his head.
"We need to do better," Loral said.
"You do a wonderful job," Harry said firmly.
"You got stabbed!" Owen incredulously.
"By someone who used tunnels that not even Maegor knew about to get into the room," Harry smiled softly. "It was not our fault."
"We will be doing better from here on out," Loral said, determination written across his face.
"Do you have everything?" Visenya asked, concerned as she glanced over their baggage.
"Yes Mother," Maegor smiled a little at her.
"Remember you can fly out and meet us at any time and come back if you want to," Harry said to Viserys cupping his face and looking at the boy concerned.
"I know, I will be fine," Viserys smiled before laughing happily when Harry tugged him into a bone-breaking hug.
"You look after yourself," Maegor squeezed his shoulder when Harry finally let him go.
"I will, I will write," Viserys smiled brightly.
"I shall look for your letters," Maegor nodded seriously before clapping the boy on the shoulder and nearly buckling his knees.
"Enjoy yourselves, and try and relax a little while you move," Visenya said as she squeezed Harry tightly.
"We will try," Harry laughed.
"We will enjoy it," Alysanne grinned, bouncing over to them.
"She has half the library packed," Jaehaerys drawled.
"And he has the other half," Alysanne stuck her tongue out at him.
"Are we ready?" Maegor chuckled.
"Ready," Daemon nodded.
"We will see you there," Maegor nodded to his Hand as Harry finished strapping Daenerys to his chest. He, Harry, Alysanne and Jaehaerys made their way over to where their Dragons were waiting for them. Vermithor and Silverwing were standing on either side of Balerion, the younger Dragons shifting excitedly and bumping the older Dragon.
Harry laughed slightly at the put out expression on Balerion's face where he was sprawled out flat on the floor waiting for them, completely ignoring the excited movements of the younger two. His golden eyes fell on Harry and the frustrated huff he let out had Harry laughing a little harder.
"I know, at least you're stretching your wings further than your normal flights with Maegor," Harry stroked his scaled nose. He chuckled at the grunt that he got from him.
"Ready?" Maegor stepped up behind Harry cupping his hips.
"Ready," Harry smiled brightly at him.
"Come on before these kids have complete breakdowns," Maegor sighed.
"The Dragons or the humans?" Harry snorted as Silverwing shoved Balerion and he let out a very annoyed growl.
"Both," Maegor chuckled a little.
They moved and climbed onto Balerion as Alysanne and Jaehaerys settled into their saddles, and while the younger Dragons turned and started getting ready to take off Balerion heaved himself to his feet and turned around.
Harry chuckled at the delighted squeal that Daenerys let out as they hit the sky, and when he looked to either side of himself Jaehaerys and Alysanne were beaming on the backs of their Dragons, the younger Dragons calling out their delight, and slightly reluctantly but excitedly Balerion roared out himself.
Looking below there was a train setting out from Kings Landing, the black and red of the Targaryen colours clear, as were the flags snapping above their heads bearing the three-headed Dragon. Their escort was making their way swiftly out of the City and aiming for Highgarden, their first stop on the list. They would definitely get there first, even with Maegor leading them on a longer flight route around the area, mainly for the sake of the children who had been eager to fly a good distance after being stuck on Dragonstone for most of their childhood, their flight from Dragonstone to the Red Keep being the longest flight that they had taken.
"Love?" Maegor asked as Harry dropped back against his chest.
"It is good to be travelling for a while," Harry beamed holding Daenerys close and looked back out to where Vermethor and Silverwing were dancing together through the air while Balerion gave off an air of disapproval as he flew steadily ahead.
"Why do you call Uncle Harry, Harrison? You're the only one that does," Alysanne asked quietly.
"Because I am the only one that does," Maegor was surprised but he answered as he looked up from his book.
"That…makes sense?" Jaehaerys asked.
"It is more intimate despite being the more formal form of his name, I call him something that no one else really calls him," Maegor explained.
"I guess you are not really the type of pet names," Alysanne smiled softly.
"Not really," Maegor snorted.
"Does he mind you calling him that?" Jaehaerys asked before turning to his sister when she snorted amused.
"Uncle Harry would make sure that Uncle Maegor knew if he didn't like it," Alysanne laughed.
"You say that as if he could stop me," Maegor grunted.
"Of course, he can," Alysanne said still laughing.
"I am the best fighter in Westeros, with the largest Dragon, I am King,"
"And Uncle Harry has power over you," Alysanne laughed.
"You think he is stronger than me?" Maegor arched his eyebrow.
"Of course he is," Alysanne nodded.
"Really?" Jaehaerys asked incredulously. "But Uncle Harry is far smaller than Uncle Maegor,"
"Strength isn't power," Harry said walking into the room.
"And what power do you have over me?" Maegor asked as Harry walked over to him. He wrapped his arm around Harry's waist.
"Your heart," Harry smiled cupping his face and kissing him. "Plus I can just glare and silent treat you into submission," he added with a laugh when they parted.
"Submission huh," Maegor snorted.
"Yes, I promise I am a kind and benevolent ruler," Harry grinned.
"You guys are disgusting," Jaehaerys sighed standing and tugging Alysaane to her feet.
"I want to go and see the orchards here, Lady Highgarden said that the apples are the sweetest you will ever taste, and we will save your eyes," Alysanne laughed.
"You will have to be romantic at some point nephew!" Maegor called after them.
"I will trust you to teach him that!" Alysanne grinned before tugging Jaehaerys from the room.
"I take absolutely no responsibility for that, you're going to have to do that one," Maegor looked back to Harry.
"As much as I love you that is a given, I was charmed by your taciturn nature, Alysanne will not be if you teach that to Jaehaerys," Harry laughed pulling Maegor in for a kiss.
"I feel as though I should be offended by that," Maegor huffed between kisses.
"Don't be, you charmed me, and I am the only one that I want you to charm," Harry smiled.
"I charmed you hmm? I rather think that I was obstinate and grumpy and you were able to put up with it and have patience enough with me for us to fall in love," Maegor chuckled.
Harry's answer was lost on his lips as Maegor claimed them, drawing Harry closer to himself and holding him firmly against his chest as Harry melted into him.
"Maegor," Harry murmured unhappily when his husband parted from him and then stepped away, he glowered at him then, truly unhappy.
"Five minutes," Maegor promised taking Harry's hand and pulling him from the table Harry was leaning against and pulling him from the room. Harry was barely aware of the people bowing to them, or the slightly amused looks from Loral and Garlan as they hurried through the hallways to the bedroom that they had been given while staying in Highgarden.
As soon as the door was closed behind them Maegor grabbed Harry and pulled him off of his feet, wrapping his legs around his waist and carrying him over to the bed. Harry groaned as he dropped him onto the bed, reaching up and yanking his clothing off as Maegor did the same thing in front of him.
"By the gods," Harry groaned at the sight of Maegor standing naked in front of him. And then Maegor was on top of him and kissing him again. Harry gasped into his mouth as he wrapped his arms around Maegor's shoulders, dragging his fingers over the muscles he could feel there.
"Harrison, you grow more and more stunning every time we make love, by every week," Maegor sighed.
"I doubt that, I have had a baby and gained new scars," Harry murmured a little self-consciously.
"A baby, our daughter, you created, carried and birthed life, her life, that you also healed and protected, the way that you have healed me throughout the course of our marriage. And your scars are from guarding our daughter, saving her life yet again," Maegor shook his head, he reached down and stroked his thumb over the scar on Harry's side, "How could you not be even more stunning to me after that? I do not believe that there is a being in this world that is more stunning, and ever will be more stunning to my eyes," Maegor shook his head.
"I may reconsider my teasing of you being the one that teaches Jaehaerys romance," Harry said softly.
Maegor simply leaned down and pressed their lips together again, holding him close as they lost themselves in the kiss.
Harry groaned loudly when Maegor pressed inside of him, filling him the way that he always did, perfectly and completely. The two of them groaned as they were sealed together, the feeling of completion and perfection was how it always felt when they were joined together, every time since the first time.
"Maegor, please," Harry panted.
"Harrison," Maegor rumbled back.
"Can we try, for another baby? Properly try for another?" Harry asked and groaned when Maegor's hips twitched, thrusting him deeper inside of him.
"Harrison," Maegor groaned. "Yes,"
"Make love to me," Harry sighed pulling Maegor back down and into a kiss that rolled into a groan as Maegor withdrew himself to his tip and then thrust back inside of him.
Harry threw his head back as he cried out in pleasure, surrendering himself to Maegor as his husband gripped hold of his hip and thigh tightly and started thrusting into his body, sending pleasure wracking through him.
There was silence in the room as the two of them lay coming down from the high of their orgasms as their slick bodies pressed together, their skin still tingling.
"Harrison?" Maegor said into the darkness of their room.
"Hmmm?" Harry hummed to show he was listening despite the lethargic comfort that was going through his body in the aftermath of their lovemaking, his body feeling relaxed and boneless.
"If we do get pregnant again…" Maegor started to say and then paused.
"Hmmm?" Harry encouraged.
"Please don't make me catch them like you did with Daenerys," Maegor said. There was a brief pause in the air in the room after the question, and then Harry started laughing. "It isn't funny Harrison! I still have nightmares where I missed catching her, or she slips, or…"
"I get it," Harry said through his laughter, reaching back to pat Maegor's arm. "I won't make you catch any more of our babies, I promise,"
"It isn't funny Harrison!" Maegor grumbled as Harry carried on laughing.
"It is!" Harry said before collapsing into full laughter.
"Harrison!" Maegor growled rolling Harry over and glowering down at his laughing husband. "So insubordinate,"
"My apologies, Sire," Harry grinned wrapping his arms around Maegor's shoulders and tugging him down.
"Hmmm, not Sire," Maegor shook his head.
"How about, my love?" Harry smiled softly running his fingers over Maegor's face, reaching up to stroke his finger along the scar in his blond hairline.
"My love, that is more like it," Maegor hummed pressing their lips together. "My love,"
"Here is to the rest of our lives," Harry smiled.
"Our lives, our legacy, and the world that we are going to build together," Maegor sighed contently dropping down onto the bed next to Harry and drawing him against his body.
"Everything we are going to build together," Harry smiled.
"I love you," Maegor said softly before pulling Harry into one more lingering kiss before they settled down for an afternoon nap together.
