~ You've Got Snabies (Snake Babies) ~

Anathema opened the door and started to get into the car, but paused when she noticed there was a child in the backseat. She wasn't sure at first glance whether the child was a boy or girl, but their hair was the exact same shade of red as the weird dude with sunglasses, so she figured it was safe to assume that he was the child's father.

"Hi," Anathema said awkwardly.

The child was chewing on the tail of a plush snake, and mumbled something that vaguely resembled "hello" back to the witch.

"We don't have all day," sunglasses dude called back from the driver's seat.

"There's no need to be rude, Crowley," the portly gentleman admonished him, as Anathema finished getting into the car and shut the door behind herself.

"I'm Anathema," Anathema introduced herself. "What's your name?"

The child let the toy snake's tail drop from their mouth and said, "I'm Query. Are you a demon?"

"No...?" Anathema answered, somewhat puzzled as to why a small child would mask that in the first place. Query scowled at her, and Anathema repeated more firmly, "No."

The drive passed in awkward silence for a few moments (if Queen's "Bicycle Race" blasting from the car's stereo system could be qualified as 'silence'.)

Then the radio switched off abruptly as someone's cell phone went off.

Crowley, who was driving quite recklessly already, took one hand off the wheel to pick up his phone. He carelessly angled the screen toward the backseat as he did so. Anathema frowned as she saw that the contact ID displayed on the screen read Beelzebub.

"What?" he answered the call. (Quite rudely, in Anathema's opinion.)

"..."

"Yeah, she's with me."

"..."

"No, why would I know?"

"..."

"Well, have tried checking with her other parent, then?"

"..."

"I can't tell what you're saying."

"..."

"Well, have you tried calling him?"

"..."

"I don't know! Why are you asking me?"

"..."

"Well, I'm kinda of busy here."

"..."

"Yes, I'm driving."

Crowley dropped the phone back into his pocket.

"You didn't even say goodbye."

"They hung up on me, angel."

"Who was that, if you don't mind me asking?" Anathema piped up from the backseat. "Your ex?"

"Ex implies that there was some kind of relationship," Crowley said. "We were never involved. We just... mingled our essences to create a child."

"You had a child together on purpose?"

"Yeah."

"And... why is your child's other parent's name in your phone as Beelzebub?"

"Because that's their name."

Before the conversation could carry on any further, the car jolted to a sudden stop in front of Jasmine Cottage.

~oOo~

A/N: If anyone's curious, Beelzebub's end of the conversation was them panicking because they lost track other their other child, Maggie (who is recycled from the Daycare chapter and whose other parent is Gabriel).
