Holy City of Sparta

SRU Nations

Nation: Spartan Empire

Capital: Holy City of Sparta/Kassandria

Head of state: Queen

Government: Absolute Monarchy

Religion: Greek Pantheon/Cult of Kassandra/Egyptian Pantheon

Estimated population: 310 Million (estimated as of 1997)

Bio: The Spartan Empire has Officially been around since the Coronation of Kassandra Agiad I, more commonly known as the Immortal Queen, the Empire has endured many wars and seen the world change dramatically.

For example, the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire, the Birth of Christianity and the World Wars, and throughout it all Sparta has stood as a Bulwark and reminder of a simpler time against all odds.

It is said that one of the Empires crowning achievement is the creation of the Silk Road Union, which brings the nations of Sparta/China/India and Japan into a peaceful Union that guarantees fair trade and military cooperation between the member states.

However, it is the internal structure of the Empire that is the most fascinating thing and maybe the secret to its long-term stability, you see those born within the borders of the Empire are not born as Citizens of the Empire, but as Subjects and while that might sound strange it has worked great for the Empire as the differences between an Imperial Citizen and Imperial Subject are very few but it's those slight Changes that make many seek Citizenship.

As a Citizen of The Empire, you are entitled to the following.

Free Healthcare

The right to hold positions of Government/Religion

The Right to Vote

The right to hold Noble Titles

The Right to hold high positions in large companies (state-owned or private)

An Imperial Subject has basic rights such as healthcare and education and even own their own homes, however, the top positions are blocked off to them and the only way to earn citizenship status is via 3 paths.

1: military service, originally military service was a compulsory service for all male Greek-born subjects upon turning 15 or if they were born on within the boundaries of the peninsula that housed the Holy City it was from the age of 7, however that was disbanded in 1946 but many Spartan children born on the peninsula when they turn 7 ask to insist.

2: born with the gift of Magic, while the majority of the Empires population have magic in their blood only 45 % of that can use their gifts, as such they are sent to the magical academies to master their gifts and upon graduation, they are awardee citizenship status.

3: The Holy Path, the art of war is not for all Spartans some subjects just wish to serve the gods as such they are taken into the faith of there choice and are taught everything they need to know and are awarded citizenship after 10 years of faithful service to the Gods.

The Empire thanks to its Mage population that work in the agricultural sector has a large stockpile of food resources that it can keep stored for years or to sell to other nations which is very helpful for there allied member states of the SRU.

Nation: Japanese Empire

Capital: Tokyo

Head of State: Emperor

Government: Absolute Monarchy

Religion: Shinto

Currency: Japanese Yen

Estimated population:400 million

Official Language: Japanese

Bio: The Empire of the rising sun is a naval Empire, with its territory spread across the eastern Pacific Ocean (called that since the great cataclysm) being a naval power the Imperial fleet is only rivalled by the Spartan British and American Navies in terms of size and firepower.

The Emperor's peace is carried out by Kenpeitai who ensure the Provinces remain safe and orderly for all subjects of the Empire, and while many Non-Japanese subjects of the Empire are still not completely sure about the presence of these men, it is far safer than having no law enforcement especially with the unrest in the Empire.

Despite its outward appearance, the Japanese Empire is suffering from outbreaks of Rebellion in the hillside or jungles across the Empire it is known as the 3rd native Rebellion, the last 2 happing during the first and second World Wars, both were put down very quickly as the firepower of the Japanese Army was too much for them.

However, the rebels have learned from last time as they now conduct small raids across the prefectures not enough to have the main Japanese army come in, but enough to keep the Prefects on their toes.

You're probably wondering what I mean by the main Japanese Army? Well during the Cold War the Imperial economy started to slip as Japan was bleeding its manpower attempting to upkeep a large navy army and Air Force to cover its Empire.

This left fewer people to work in the public sectors meaning less money, and if they kept this up, they would be forced to ask for loans from the SRU something the Emperor refused to do, some of his council suggested allowing the non-Japanese citizens join the Imperial Military instead of relying solely upon there own people.

That opened a whole new can of worms as many of the Japanese Officers didn't trust the natives, it took months but it was finally decided that the Japanese Army and Air Force would be downsized the amount of tax the province sent back to the homeland would be lessened however the prefects would be in charge of setting up Militias to keep order as outside the regional capitals the chances of seeing a member of the imperial army or the Kenpeitai was very low.

Sadly, it was this choice that led to the 3rd Native Rebellions, it would have been something that Tokyo would normally take seriously if the rebels actually did something threatening to the security of the empire.

Nation: Gupta Empire/Indian Empire

Capital: Pataliputra

Head of State: King

Government: Monarchy

Religion: Hinduism/Buddhism/Jainism

Currency: Dinara

Estimated population:750 Million

Official Language: Sanskrit

Bio: out of all the official member states of the silk Road union the Gupta Empire is the youngest its main exports being exotic spices which are extremely popular not only in Europe but primarily in the Spartan empire.

More commonly known internationally as the Indian Empire her population is the 2nd largest of the SRU Member States, however that is beginning to work against the Empire as their population continues to grow more homes need to be built and the current amount of food grown by the Gupta Empire will soon not be enough to feed its citizens forcing them to purchase more from there allies.

Currently, the King and his government are in discussions on the current population crisis and ways to slow the population growth to a more stable level with the current solutions being the abolishment of Child Benefits and limiting the number of children one household can have depending on that home's income.

Nation: Chinese Empire

Capital: Beijing

Head of State: Emperor

Government: Absolute Monarchy

Religion: Chinese Folk Religion

Currency: yuan

Estimated population:1.3Billion

Official Language: Standard Chinese

Bio: in population and total landmass the Chinese Empire is the largest of the SRU states, but that size has led to many problems for the Empire which have only grown as the centuries has passed.

Like your fellow member states, the Chinese Empire has remained very traditional in terms of architecture and military strategies and government policy this however has led to the Emperor and many of his predecessors to be too traditionalist when it comes to advancements in technology.

The Chinese army only has access to the most basic of modern military technology, but even then, its roughly 70 years behind the fellow Member states for example in the Forbidden City the Royal guard are forbidden from using modern Weapons.

As if this wasn't enough like India the Chinese Empire has a large population boom there, they however have the needed food supplies to feed their people but even this was at risk due to the rising population, you see the Chinese government only has limited grain silos that are located in the major cities in the case of a famine.

This has greatly annoyed the Spartan Empire for many years who have tried to convince the Emperor to modernise to protect the stability of the Empire, this however has been a very slow process as the emperor has been very stubborn.

All in all, the SRU remains the world's strongest Union despite the separate nations internal problems together the SRU can hold itself together, however, it has been suggested that it is the wealth and determination of Sparta and Japan that keep the SRU afloat and without those two nations, the Chinese and Indian Empires would suffer greatly.

And believe it or not but within the Queens Imperial Council and the Japanese Parliament, there are small factions that attempted to gain favour with there respective Monarchs and push for their Empires to withdraw from the SRU.
