Just a quick one-shot between Jerry and Diana. Hope you enjoy!

As he heard her approaching, he fixed his hair, put on his cap and straightened his jacket. "Diana." She ran up to him and hugged him "I missed you. I'm so sorry. Can we make this work?" She kissed him, and he let her for a moment, just one small moment, before he pushed her off him gently.

"What happened to apples and oranges?"

"It doesn't matter!"

"It will. Your parents will forbid it and I'll be shattered again. I'll never be good enough for you!"

"Jerry. Mi Amore. I don't care about what my parents say. I want to be daring!"

"I'm not here as your... ticket to freedom. I am a real person. Am I not good enough for you to treat me as one?"

"Jerry don't say such things!"

"I'm sorry Diana"

"No!"

"Please go."

"You'll regret it!"

"I know."

She turned with tears on her face.

"Desole" she said.

And she was gone.

He took the handkerchief she had sewn out of his coat pocket. And he cried into it. Matthew eventually stumbled upon him, and asked him what the matter was.

"I miss her"

"Anne is just out, she'll be home soon"

"No"

Matthew felt uncomfortable "Right then. You can go home early. No use staying longer."

"Merci, Mr. Cuthbert"

He nodded as Jerry left. As he left, he saw Anne walking home. Anne ran up to him and gave him a huge hug. He couldn't hold it in any longer.

"She's gone. I told her to go."

"She won't hurt you any longer. You will always be good enough, ok? Always."

"Thank you Anne."

"Always, my brother!"
