He was looking at a model of the famous Scandinavian ship when he felt her arms around him. As always his breath caught in his throat and his heart warmed at the kiss she placed on his cheek.
"Thank you for bringing me here, sweetheart."
He smiled, forgetting all about the brave Icelandic explorers and turned to kiss her lips. "I'm glad. I know that you don't usually take interest in these things but-."
"I love it. The Icelandic dolls are just beautiful. And you know what the best part is?"
"What's that, Daphne?"
"That we don't have to listen to Roz go on and on about-."
He gently covered her mouth with his hand. "Don't say it, Daphne. Please. The less I hear that man's name, the better."
She laughed and covered his hand with her own. And then she gently removed his hand, turning it upward to kiss his palm. "You're right. I'm sorry. The worst thing is that the next time we see her, it will start all over again."
"Well, then maybe we should just stay away from her for a while."
"Niles, that's impossible! We can't just completely avoid her! She's my friend and we see her practically every day!"
"But if we were… say in another country, we wouldn't see her at all."
Her eyebrows rose. "I don't understand."
He smiled and pulled her into his arms, giving her a kiss that neither of them would soon forget. "How does a trip to Iceland sound?"
The gasp from her sweet lips was like music to his ears. "Oh Niles, really?"
"Absolutely. I'll call the airline tomorrow and then work on finding us a hotel."
She squeezed him tighter and his heart leapt in his chest as she showered him with kisses. "I love you so much, Niles Crane."
When they realized that people were watching them, they drew apart, laughing.
Later as they walked out of the museum, Daphne kissed him again.
"What was that for? Not that I mind of course."
"For being so wonderful. Thank you, Niles."
"You're welcome, but we should probably be getting back."
Daphne sighed. "You're right. And I suppose the next time I see Roz, she'll bombard me with stories about Roger. But she's in for a surprise."
Niles grinned. "Daphne, what are you up to?"
"I'm going to give her a taste of her own medicine. If she can talk incessantly about the man she loves than so can I!"
He couldn't believe his ears. Daphne had never been so vindictive before… and he liked it! "So what are you going to do?"
"It's simple. I'm just going to talk about you until it drives her absolutely batty!"
"I'm flattered of course, but what could you possibly-."
She stood in front of him and kissed his lips. "Tell me everything about you, Niles Crane. And don't leave anything out."
He put his arm around her and led her to the car.
"I was born in Seattle, Washington in 1957 to Hester Crane and her husband Martin. They already had a son named Frasier…"
