Hi, this is my first fanfiction on this site after lurking here for a long time, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I hope you guys enjoy it. If you have any ideas on how to make the story better, I'd be happy to hear them in your reviews. Without further ado, let get this misadventure started.
Disclaimer: RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth and Monty Oum (may he rest in peace).
"Sorry again for springing this on you, Saph. I really appreciate this," Jaune said. Things had finally started to calm down, at least for the time being. Until they could find a way to get to Atlas, they were going to be here for a while, so they figured that they might as well get settled.
"Don't worry about it, baby bro."
"Please stop calling me that," Jaune protested, but Saphron ignored him.
"Though we don't have a ton of space, so some of you guys may have to double up."
Jaune chuckled at that, "Oh boy, I do not look forward to them arguing over that one." Jaune, Saphron, and Terra all laughed at this, "Ren and Nora, probably wouldn't mind."
"How long have they been-" Terra began, but stopped as she heard Jaune's sigh.
"They aren't, despite the fact that they both clearly want it. Seriously, those two have been dancing around each other since before I even knew them."
"Well, maybe this'll give them that push," Saphron suggested. As Jaune nodded his silent agreement, a mischievous glint appeared in his sister's eye, "And," she began, her tone already arousing suspicion in her brother, "I'm sure any of the girls from team RWBY would be happy to double up with you."
Saphron smirked at him as Terra laughed. If Jaune had been drinking anything in that moment, he would have done a spit-take right then and there, "W-What?!" Jaune's face went red like a tomato upon hearing what his sister was suggesting.
"Come on, you knew this was coming the moment you brought four girls here. So, which of them is it?"
"Which of them is what?"
"Come on, Jaune, spill. Which of them is your girlfriend?" the mischievous glint in Saphron's eye had now graduated to a teasing smirk, a smirk that only grew as Jaune's face got even redder.
"W-What are you talking about?"
"I'll bet it's Ruby, she was his first friend at Beacon, after all," Terra cut in.
"I don't know, he did mention Weiss a lot whenever he called, and he seemed pretty smitten."
"True, though that was a while ago. Hmm, when their teams reunited the first one he hugged was Blake."
"And Yang certainly seems like his type, she'd fit right in at one of our family reunions."
"Okay, stop right there!" Jaune interrupted them before they could continue, "What the heck are you two talking about?"
Saphron stared at him, "Don't tell me… Four girls who are clearly attracted to you, and you haven't made a move on any of them?"
Jaune looked at her as if she had told him that she gave someone CPR for a bullet wound in the head or rubbed someone's neck with aloe vera after they were shot in the toe, "What?"
"You can't be serious, Jaune. You haven't noticed the way they look you at all?" As Jaune shook his head, Terra groaned, "Ugh, you're even more dense than her," she continued, looking at Saphron.
"Hey! I'm not dense!"
"Whatever you say, but back to the matter at hand," she looked back at Jaune.
"So you're telling me that all of them have feelings for me?" Jaune looked between the two of them, who looked back in annoyance.
"Yes."
"I want to believe you, but I don't."
"And why not?" Saphron then asked him.
"Why would they? They're all these amazing, powerful huntresses and I'm just… me."
"You think they don't need you," Saphron wasn't asking.
"Yes."
"Well, if you ask me," Saphron began, "I think they do need you, more than you may ever realize."
Jaune shook his head looked down, "I've been nothing but dead weight since the beginning, no matter what I do, I just seem to slow them down, that's all I do, that's all I've ever done."
"Jaune, that's not true, and you know it and so do they," Saphron said, looking him dead in the eye, "Weiss told me that you saved her life back at Haven."
"Only because I unlocked my semblance just in time, if that hadn't happened, Weiss would've-"
"But it did, Jaune, and that's what matters."
"But-"
"But nothing. Furthermore, do you really think Ruby on her own could have made it to Haven without your team?"
Ruby was strong, there was no doubt of that, but Jaune knew that she wouldn't have been able to make that trip alone, "No, I guess not."
"Exactly, you're not useless, Jaune. Sure, you may not be the best fighter of the group, but you've never let that stop you from trying your hardest before, why start now?"
Jaune smiled at his sister's encouragement, it reminded him of when they were kids, whenever he was sad or angry, she would often try to cheer him up, whether by bringing him his favorite snacks or just talking to him, hugging him and trying to get him to smile. "Thanks, Saph. I needed that."
"Yeah, I could tell. Now back to the matter at hand," Saphron chuckled as her brother groaned, "What, you think I'm dropping this? All four of those girls like you, Jaune, you can't tell me that you didn't even notice it from even one of them."
As Jaune looked at her in confusion, Saphron and Terra both let out frustrated groans, this was going nowhere, and Saphron knew it. Saphron and Terra looked each other in the eyes, "Plan B?" Terra whispered, and Saphron nodded.
"Plan B."
"Alright, we'll stop bugging you about this for now," Terra told him. "right now, I'm going to need your help making dinner."
"Oh, sure, no problem."
Saphron smiled as Jaune and Terra left the room, as she went to look for the members of team RWBY. It was clear to her that, her little brother was either too dense to recognize what was going on, or he simply thought so little of himself that he actually convinced himself that he was undeserving of being loved. Just the thought of the latter possibility sent a chill down Saphron's spine. In any case, with Jaune out of the way, it was time for her to talk with team RWBY. If Jaune wasn't going to listen to her and Terra, then perhaps he would listen to them instead.
