Isabelle's POV

I gasped, and sat up. I just heard a transmission of Katie's voice saying my name. How could she have contacted me?

"Is this Isabelle?" Katie asked.

"Um, yes? Now please get out of my head! You shouldn't be doing this." I answered, my hands shaking from the shock of hearing my sister again. I needed to get her out of my head. It wasn't safe, Gethen had been trying to get inside my head, .

"Isabelle," She begged.

"No. Gethen tries to get into my head every once in a while. I've been able to block him but I won't be able to do that anymore. This isn't safe, so get out." I clenched my fists. Didn't she understand? I was trying to protect her and myself!

"Isabelle. Focus." Katie ordered, her voice shaky. My eyes watered, threatening to spill over. I did as she asked, but I was confused. She paused for a bit, making my confusion increase every second she didn't speak.

"Which house's eerie raptor emerged? All raptors emerged! Usually." She said.

What was this? This sentence didn't really make any sense. There were two versions of raptors that we knew. Human's version of raptors, which are bird prey, and then the elvin version, which was a small feathered dinosaur. I guess that the elvin version would make a bit more sense, because they could emerge from their egg.

As these thoughts raced through my head, a little voice at the back of my head said,

"You're missing something."

And I definitely was. But the salty liquid that showed how vulnerable I was was making its way down my face. I was crying.

"Remember, focus." Katie said, and I jumped. I had forgotten that she was there.

"I don't know what you are talking about!" I cried, the last wisps of annoyance disappearing with the need to get Katie out of my mind.

"Concentrate." Sophie jumped in, making my eyes well up with more tears. I didn't get it! Why was my mind latching onto that one sentence Katie had said?

"Princesses." Katie added.

I gasped as a memory resurfaced to the front of my mind.

Five-year-old Isabelle ran up her brother, who was entering the house. He had just came back from his day summer camp, and he had been learning about codes there. He waved goodbye to one of their drivers who had picked him up.

"Jawmes! Teach us yow codes!" She said, and Katie ran up to join in with her begging. Their brother laughed.

"Okay. Let me say hello to Mommy and Daddy first okay?" He said, and the soon to be 9 year old turned the corner, with the twins following him. He quickly greeted their mother in the kitchen, who told them their dad was at the gym currently.

"Okay, princesses, let's go up to my room!"

The three children headed up to James' room, and up there, he taught his sisters what he had learned. But there was only one code that was important.

Isabelle choked and sat up. At some point she must have fallen over.

"Isabelle, are you okay?" Sophie's voice shot through her head, making her jump. She'd forgotten they were there.

"Yup. Um, just give me a sec." Isabelle said, and quickly retreated back into her mind. Which code was the one that James had said was the simplest but also great because no one would suspect it? Oh yes. First letters.

Isabelle quickly decoded the code.

Where are you

Isabelle smiled and went back up to the front of her mind.

"I think in a cell. I can't see. But I know that I was in a cave before, but then they moved me."

Sophie's POV

Katie was crying. I think they were happy tears, but I could be mistaken. They might be angry tears at the Neverseen. But enough about the tears.

"Have you made any contact?" Mr. Forkle asked, Linh sucked in a breath.

"Yes, we have." I answered.

"And?" He pressed, lifting a fluffy eyebrow.

"We're working on passing on the code."

I went back to the mental connection I made between Isabelle and Katie. Isabelle was currently explaining where she was.

"Okay. Goodbye." Katie said, and I echoed her.

"Bye." She made it a small thing, like it was reserved for something else. I quickly severed the connection, and Katie broke down. She usually was a very strong and confident person but obviously Isabelle being kidnapped was breaking her down, bit by bit.

Everyone crowded around Katie hugging her and telling her it will be alright.

"Katie, you should go home and rest. We'll contact Tam." I suggested, and Katie narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth to say something, but I held up a hand.

"No. You can't help Isabelle and Tam if you're exhausted. Go back to Havenfield." I said, with a motherly tingle going down my spine. Katie sighed. I could tell she didn't want to, but she still dug her home crystal out of her tunic and raised it up to the light.

"I'll see you tomorrow?" I nodded. It was already nighttime already. Contacting Tam shouldn't take that long.

Katie lowered the crystal, walked over and wrapped her arms around me. I leaned into the hug, smelling her strawberry shampoo.

"Go and rest." I said, and pulled away. She raised her crystal again, but this time she stepped into the light.

"Okay, now it's time to contact Tam." Mr. Forkle said.

"Biana, if you'd like to go home, you're welcome to." I offered, but Biana shook her head.

"I'm staying." I nodded, and gestured for Linh to come.

"Linh?" I said, and she took Katie's place on my left. I pressed a finger against her temple, reading to push into her mind, but then I remembered something crucial.

"Wait, you need to think Tam's name remember?" Linh nodded. I took that as my cue, and pushed into her mind. She was thinking her brother's name so clearly I smiled. I quickly wrapped my concentration around her thought, and shoved it out of my mind. I projected it as far as I could go, feeling for the whispers of the only person's thought that I wanted to hear.

"Sophie?" Tam asked. Linh gasped, and looked like she was about to cry.

"Tam." I said, and Linh delivered the same code, only different meaning. This code meant 'Where are you, and have you seen Isabelle?'

"No, I haven't, because I wasn't kidnapped by the Neverseen." Tam said.
