Snoopy's Big Surprise

Chapter 1: Welcome to the Treehouse

On a darkened stage, Snoopy and Woodstock stood next to a big spotlight that was lighting a present that was in a green box and wrapped in a purple bow. Snoopy and Woodstock both smiled before stepping towards where the box was. As they approached it, the box and spotlight stepped to another spot. "Huh?" Snoopy muttered. Then, much more sneakily, Snoopy and Woodstock approached the box again, but it and the spotlight bounced away again. Finally, Snoopy and Woodstock pounced onto the box and laughed. Snoopy then spotted the gift tag and smiled as he read...'From your best friend, Barney'. "Aww..." Snoopy and Woodstock then opened the box and a bunch of magic sparkle appeared as they jumped into the box to see what other surprises waited for them.

Meanwhile, on another stage, Charlie Brown stood in front of a huge audience and smiled. "Boys and girls, birds and beagles..." Charlie Brown announced before stepping aside to reveal a three-foot Barney doll. "...our appearance of our special friend Barney is made possible by...your imagination!" Just then, the audience began to use their imaginations to bring Barney to life. Suddenly, the stage filled with magic smoke as Charlie Brown began to smile wider. Then, Barney appeared and the audience roared with applause.

"Oh boy oh boy!" Barney smiled as music began to play.

Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination

And when he's tall, he's what we call a dinosaur sensation!

"Oh, we're all going to have so much fun!" Barney chuckled as he began to dance around with Charlie Brown.

Barney comes to play with us whenever we may need him

Barney can be your friend too if you just make believe him!

"Hi Barney!" Charlie Brown smiled as he hugged his dino friend.

"Hi Charlie Brown." Barney said before facing the audience. "Hi everybody!"

"Hi Barney!" The audience shouted back.

"Is everyone ready to have a stupendous time?" Barney asked happily.

"Yes!" The audience shouted happily.

"Me too, Barney!" Charlie Brown said. "You know we have so many special friends here today, it's kind of hard to see everyone's smiles."

"You're right, Charlie Brown. But luckily, I know another way for everybody to show they're happy." Barney smiled as he and Charlie Brown began to sing a song to show the audience's happiness.

Barney:

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands

(clap, clap)

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands

(clap, clap)

Barney and Charlie Brown:

If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!

(clap, clap)

"That was fun, Barney! Now let's try some happy feet." Charlie Brown suggested.

"Great idea!" Barney smiled.

Charlie Brown:

If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet

(stamp, stamp)

If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet

(stamp, stamp)

Barney and Charlie Brown:

If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it

If you're happy and you know it, stamp your feet!

(stamp, stamp)

"Now let's try some lots and lots of happy voices!" Barney smiled.

If you're happy and you know it, shout 'hooray!'

(Hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, shout 'hooray!'

(Hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it

If you're happy and you know it, shout 'hooray!'

(Hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, do all three!

(clap, clap)

(stamp, stamp)

(Hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, do all three!

(clap, clap)

(stamp, stamp)

(Hooray!)

If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it!

If you're happy and you know it, do all three!

(clap, clap)

(stamp, stamp)

(Hooray!)

After the audience applauded, Charlie Brown faced the audience. "Well, now that we know you're happy, it'll make me and Barney happy for you to meet his friends and my friends as well. Would you like to meet them?" Charlie Brown asked.

"Yeah!" The audience responded.

"Oh, great!" Barney smiled. "Then let's go visit all of them at the treehouse! Here we go!" Barney then transported him and Charlie Brown to a treehouse that appeared on stage. And appearing on stage were Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Heather, Sally, Patty Swanson, Violet, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Franklin, Pigpen, Kevin, Tony, Cindy, and Rachel.

"There's the treehouse." Charlie Brown smiled as Heather ran up to and kissed him on the cheek. "And look. Here's the friends we wanted you to meet."

"Hi Barney!" they all waved.

"Kevin!" Barney introduced a boy in an orange shirt with white stripes.

"Linus and Pigpen." Charlie Brown continued.

"Hi everybody!" Kevin smiled.

"Welcome!" Linus greeted, waving his blanket.

"HI!" Pigpen exclaimed, jumping happily as clouds of dust flew everywhere. "Whoops. Sorry, guys."

"Cindy!" Barney introduced a girl in a red shirt.

"Patty Swanson, Violet and Lucy!" Charlie Brown added.

"Hi everybody! It's good to see ya!" Cindy greeted, jumping happily.

"Good day, mates!" Patty Swanson said, faking an Australian accent.

"Hello world!" Violet said.

"The girl of the hour has arrived!" Lucy boasted. "And she's a real beauty."

"Tony." Barney continued as a boy in a blue shirt waved at the audience.

"Schroeder and Franklin." Charlie Brown added.

"Hi everyone. It's great to be here." Tony smiled.

"Now let's sing some songs!" Schroeder exclaimed happily, pretending to turn turntables.

"Franklin's my name and having fun is my game." Franklin added, in a rap style.

"Rachael!" Barney continued as a girl in overalls greeted everyone.

"Sally, Peppermint Patty and Marcie!" Charlie Brown called out.

"Hello everyone! I'm really glad you're here today!" Rachael waved.

"Me too! This is for you, guys!" Peppermint Patty exclaimed, preforming a backflip.

Marcie just stood there, frozen still. "Good grief." Charlie Brown sighed. "MARCIE!"

"Huh? Oh…hi there…" Marcie timidly trembled, snapping out of her trance.

"And last, but never least: HEATHER!" Charlie Brown exclaimed as Heather danced on stage, blowing kisses everywhere.

"HELLO EVERYONE!" Heather exclaimed.

"It looked like you were having lots of fun in the treehouse." Charlie Brown giggled.

"That's right, Barney. We sure were." Cindy smiled.

"We had a lot of fun." Schroeder added.

"Why don't you tell our friends in the audience what kind of things you were doing?" asked Barney.

"Singing and dancing, playing games, taking naps, etc." Peppermint Patty ticked off as Marcie hid in the treehouse.

"Sure, we could tell them." Kevin said. "But it would be a lot more fun to show them!"

"Great idea!" Peppermint Patty exclaimed as the treehouse turned around, wowing everyone.

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Welcome to our treehouse.

A pretend and you can be-house.

Way up in this big old tree.

It's a real fun place to be.

Charlie Brown:

The treehouse can be a great big ship.

We'll sail the deep blue sea.

Ahoy, I'm captain Charlie Brown

of the SS Happy Tree!

"Get real!" Violet spat out.

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Welcome to our treehouse.

A pretend and you can be-house.

Way up in this big old tree.

It's a real fun place to be.

Rachael, Kevin, Patty Swanson, Peppermint Patty and Sally:

We like to dance with hula hoops.

Swingin' and singin', loop-de-loo.

Hula hoops, loop-de-loo.

Hula hoops, loop-de-loo!

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Welcome to our treehouse.

A pretend and you can be-house.

Way up in this big old tree.

It's a real fun place to be.

Cindy and Heather:

We're engine company fifty-three

Kevin and Franklin:

Got a big emergency!

Frieda instantly ran on stage as kids cheered. She then picked up the phone and rang.

Frieda:

"Hello, is this station fifty-three?"

Cindy and Heather:

"Yes, ma'am, it is. What do you need?"

Frieda:

"My cat is stuck up in a tree!"

Cindy and Heather:

"We'll be right there, don't you fret.

We're going to save your precious pet!"

Kevin and Franklin scoop up Faron from one of the branches and hand him to Frieda. She hugs the boys and puts Faron in a carrier as she joins in the song.

Barney, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Welcome to our treehouse.

A pretend and you can be-house.

Way up in this big old tree.

It's a real fun place to be.

Welcome to our treehouse!

"That was tree-riffic." Barney explained as he and Charlie Brown cracked up at the joke.

"Now where did that sneaky Marcie go?" Peppermint Patty asked as she looked around.

"Hey everybody! I think I can see somebody coming!" Tony exclaimed, looking through the telescope.

"Who is it?" asked Frieda, stroking Faron.

"I'm not sure. It's someone who's really small and really far away." Tony said as Lucy sighed. He was looking through the telescope the wrong way. Sighing, she spun it around wildly as he fell in Patty Swanson and Violet's arms. Once they released him, he ran back to the treehouse. "What was that for, Lucy?"

"Tony, you had the telescope backwards." Cindy giggled.

"That person's really close, in fact, here she comes, right now." Lucy cheered.

"Here comes who? More friends?" Marcie trembled, hiding behind a bookshelf in the treehouse.

"Yes." Franklin replied. "Look!"

On stage, Baby Bop was happily walking towards the treehouse, singing la-la-la's.

"Look! It's Baby Boppity!" Peppermint Patty exclaimed. The three-year-old then froze in her tracks and hid behind Barney.

"Uh, Baby Bop?" asked Barney. "I guess she's over here. That's funny. I know she's here somewhere. I thought Baby Bop was here."

"Did you see Baby Bop?" asked Peppermint Patty to the audience. "Because she's acting just like Marcie."

"Barney?" Baby Bop asked, frightening him as the kids giggled.

"There you are." Charlie Brown laughed.

"What's wrong?" Barney asked. "Are you feeling a little shy?"

"Uh huh." Baby Bop replied, cuddling close to him. "I'm feeling A LOT shy."

"Join the club." Peppermint Patty said. "Marcie's also shy."

"Really shy." Marcie timidly said as Linus walked towards her. She tried to hide in his blanket.

"But girls, these are your friends." Barney said.

"They are my friends?" Baby Bop asked.

"Mine too?" quivered Marcie.

"Uh huh." He replied.

"ALL of them?" Baby Bop questioned.

"ALL of them!" Barney repeated.

"Tell me when the show's over." Marcie trembled more.

"You mean I can have this many friends?" Baby Bop pondered. "All at the same time?"

"That's right." Barney replied.

"Wow! Hey everybody! Look at me! I've a lot of friends! I've a lot of friends!" the three-year-old chanted.

"Me too!" Sally agreed, joining in. "I've a lot of friends! I've a lot of friends!"

"Hi friends! Hi friends!" the three-year-old and six-year-old waved.

"Barney, are they here for the big surprise?" whispered Linus as he walked towards the dinosaur, trembling a little from blanket withdrawal. Baby bop instantly gave him her blankie.

"They sure are." Barney replied. "Only, they don't know about the big surprise yet."

"Speaking of which, Faron and I will go get ready for it. See you later." Frieda said, scooping up the cat carrier and skipping off. "See you later, friends."

"They don't know?" Linus asked in shock. "First my blanket is taken away, now they don't know about the big surprise? What else will happen?" he asked Sally.

"Pucker up." Sally insisted as he ran offstage.

"I wanna tell! I wanna tell! I wanna tell! I wanna tell!" exclaimed Baby Bop as she began to hop.

"You can't tell them, Baby Bop." Sally reminded.

"Why are you hopping?" Barney asked.

"I can't stop hopping!" Baby bop exclaimed. "I'm too excited!"

"Well then, I guess you'll just have to get all of those hops out of your system." Peppermint Patty suggested, jumping. "I'm feeling jumpy too."

"Same here!" Sally exclaimed.

Barney, Baby Bop, Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Hop! Hop! Hop! Hop!

Barney:

I know someone who is lots of fun

With a happy kind of dancing.

All of her friends say, Baby Bop,

Do the Baby Bop hop!

Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Hop! Hop! Hop!

Hop! Hop! Hop! Hop!

Peppermint Patty, Charlie Brown and Sally:

With a happy kind of dancing'.

All of her friends say, Baby Bop,

Do the Baby Bop hop!

Barney's friends and Peanuts Gang:

Barney and Charlie Brown:

So sing this song -

You can hop along,

Whenever you feel like jumping.

Baby Bop, Sally and Peppermint Patty:

'Cause when you hop, you feel tip top.

Barney and Charlie Brown:

Doing the Baby Bop hop.

Let's do the Baby Bop hop.

Hop! Hop! Hop! Hop!

Doing the Baby Bop hop.

Baby Bop, Sally and Peppermint Patty:

Hop!
