Chapter 2 – Practice Makes Perfect!

"A-ano, Yukizome-sensei-?"

"Mouuu. How many times have I told you, Makoto-kun?" Chisa pouted. "Call me Chisa-chan when we're alone together!"

"Forty-seven times, I think. In the past hour alone." Makoto deadpanned. "But, we're not alone right now! And even if we were, it still wouldn't be right-!"

"Eh?" she gasped, as if in shock. "what do you mean we're not alone? I don't see anyone else here, Makoto-kun. Just you, me, and this small stack of tests for us to grade together!"

Makoto sweat-dropped as his classmates grumbled in the background. Was she doing this on purpose…?

"I can't believe this woman!" Sayaka growled. "Is she really a teacher? Look how comfy she is acting with Naegi-kun. Her over-sized breasts are practically being shoved in his face, for God's sake. And asking him to call her by her first name, especially with such a familiar honorific!? She's crazy!"

The rest of the class couldn't help but agree with their idols' grievances.

"I concur." Celeste said with a sip of her tea. "She is most uncouth, and rather immature for her age. Of course, she seems more put-together than our teacher, but that's not saying much."

In the background Kizakura cried at the unfairness of his students and the lack of respect he received. Somehow, that caused their opinion of him to lower that much farther.

Poor guy.

"Anyway," Hina got up from her seat. "We have to go save Naegi from the clutches of that evil woman. If we all work together we could-!"

"Asahina-chan…?"

Chisa's sweet voice echoed throughout the classroom, causing shivers to go down the spines of everyone present. Her smile, previously sweet and inviting, now had an underlying edge to it.

"I believe I told you all that Naegi-kun and I will be marking your recent quizzes as a means of practice for his new position." She suddenly threw a ruler with such force that it embedded its way into the wall behind the poor swimmer. "I trust that you have no issues with that, correct…?"

Hina sat back down, fully chastised and completely terrified.

Smart girl.

Makoto gave a quick prayer to his now-stunned classmates. Even Byakuya and Kyoko looked affected. Not that he could blame them.

"Is everything alright, Makoto-kun?" Chisa addressed him, a soft and far-more real smile on her face. "Do you need me to go over the grading rubric again?"

He shook his head, a slight blush washing over his face, unwillingly. She was incredibly beautiful, after all. "N-no. Thank you, though. I'll keep at it."

"Alright." She acquiesced before returning to her side of the pile. "if you're sure."

Makoto sighed as he considered his current situation. He still wasn't sure how to react, if he was being honest. It all happened too quickly.

Makoto smiled as he leaned forward on his desk. School was going well. Better than that actually! He made real friends, already! It was a dream come true for the awkward teen. His only memories of his school, before Hopes Peak, were usually negative in nature. Of course, he had good days and bad ones, just like anyone. But his bad days far outnumbered the good by a fair amount. A big part of that coming from the lack of any real friends. He had… some? He'd say, so anyway. But he was never invited to hangout, or even to attend a club with them. Heck, he would have even been happy with an invitation to study. Now though?

"Naegi-kun! Do you want to come by later and help me with my newest song?" Sayaka's gorgeous smile shone through. "I've been working on it all week and I've run into a bit of writer's block with the subject material. If you were there though, I think I'd finish rather quickly~!"

Makoto felt his heart pound in his chest. How could he say no to that-!?

"No, Naegi-kun I need you to help me checkup my various weapons." Mukuro spoke, her voice monotonous in nature. "I do believe you promised me at 09:37 today that we would do that once class was out."

Makoto gulped. Did he?

"Mou, that's not fair, Ikusaba-san! Naegi-kun is my new swimming buddy. Sakura and I promised to help him toughen up. So cardio then we hit the gym for a good two hours!"

The Luckster immediately regretted agreeing to that. Something he would be saying a lot of, fairly soon.

"N-Naegi-kun? I thought you said you'd help me bug test my new code later…?" Chihiro held back tears. "Maybe I was mistaken. I'm sorry…"

Okay he had to help Chihiro, now. There was no way he couldn't after that-

"Nah dude, Naegi said he'd come riding with me and the boys! He still hasn't gotten a taste of burning rubber on the highway." Mondo grinned as he gave Makoto a light noogie. "This lil' guy is gonna be a hit with the gang, I can feel it."

Is that so…?

"Actually, I do believe Naegi and I are going to watch the entire second season of Demon Angel, Pretty Pudgy Princess." Hifumi sniffed haughtily. "We still have to catch up from last time!"

Please no-

"Come on man, Naegi said we'd go pick up some chicks at the local bar together!" Leon suddenly turned sheepish. "Well, he didn't actually say that. But I'm sure he would if I asked him to! Right, Naegi?"

Please make it stop.

"Naegi-kun. We're going to work on my latest case together." Kyoko's voice left no room for debate as she looked about ready to grab his arm and bolt. "You're a bright mind and often think outside the box. I could use that for this."

Him? Bright? Did she have the right guy?

Then things got too chaotic for him to follow.

"Naegi-kun, help me with this-!"

"No, Naegi is working with me here. That's final."

"Naegi-chi is gonna help show me the truth behind this sale. I'm sure it's not a scam!"

"Naegi."

"Naegi!"

"NAEGI!"

Makoto sweat dropped as the large number of requests his classmates piled on him, continued to grow at a rapid rate.

"NAEGI!"

He gulped as they began to close in on him.

"Well, I-!"

Someone knocked on the door.

Kizakura blinked at the sudden interruption. The drama was just getting good too! Aw well. At least whoever this was, wouldn't keep him from his entertainment for the foreseeable future.

Right?

"Ah, yes?" he called out. "Come in."

As soon as the words left the temporarily sober teachers' mouth, the door opened wide. An incredibly beautiful young woman walked in, confidence and peppiness to each of her steps. It took Makoto a second, but not any longer to recognize her.

"Yukizome-sensei!?"

"Eh?" Hina blinked. She turned to him in confusion. "Do you know her Naegi-kun…?"

The orange-haired lady smiled brightly before skipping over to him and picking him out of his chair. He couldn't help but blush at her confused expression. No doubt she was wondering if he weighed anything. It wasn't his fault he was never hungry!

"Wa-wait, who are you and what are you doing with Naegi-kun?"

Makoto blinked at the rather confrontational tone Sayaka was using towards the teacher behind him. He hadn't known she was even capable of annoyance to that degree.

"Like Naegi-kun's words implied, I'm a teacher here. My name is Chisa Yukizome. It's nice to meet you all."

Makoto watched with a sigh as she bowed and only Taka returned the greeting. What was with everyone? Why were they so aggravated by her presence?

He winced as she suddenly pinched his cheek. "Also don't worry about it. Naegi-kun's not in trouble or anything, Maizono-san. I just need him for a while."

Makoto cocked his head to the side in confusion. 'What could she need me for…?'

Apparently, that question had already been asked, because not a moment later he found himself snug in between the largest pair of breasts he had ever seen. Let alone felt. Queue blush.

"I have decided that Naegi-kun is going to be my Assistant Teacher!"

A pin dropped.

Then-

"EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!?"

Chisa ignored the outcry and dragged him towards the front of the classroom. In one swift motion she picked Kizakura up by the scruff of his neck and threw him to the back of the room in a heap. All the while never letting Makoto out of his pillowy prison. 'Poor guy'.

"So!" she smiled brightly, addressing the rest of the class. "You guys are all gonna fill out a short pop quiz I've prepared for you, while Makoto assists me in marking them. Doesn't that sound like fun?"

Everyone present, (aside from the still beat-red Makoto), was staring bloody murder at the teacher who dared disrupt their perfectly good day.

"Great!" she giggled. "Then let's get on with it!"

*Flashback Over*

For a so-called pop quiz, it was fairly extensive. With three pages of lengthy questions and a short essay on the back for his peers to fill out. Was the difficulty high? Not necessarily. He knew the majority of the answers, and so did a good deal of his class. Still, it seemed… cruel to just spring on them so out of the blue.

If he wasn't so stunned at her declaration in the first place there was a chance he would have turned her down. Since he didn't, he didn't have to write it. Small mercies.

'Still, maybe I really should try and see what this position entails.' He thought to himself in consideration. 'Unlike all my classmates I don't have a real talent, or anything special about me. I'm average in every way that counts, and I don't think I have much hope exceeding expectations at this school. But, maybe if I do well at this job I can be proud of what I've done here.'

Makoto nodded to himself, determinedly. He'd give it a go. What'd he have to lose, if he failed?

Given his position at this school? Not much.

*15 Minutes Later*

He put down his pen with finality. A smile of accomplishment on his face.

"Ne, Yukizome-sensei, I'm done-!" he turned and was brought face to face with Chisa. Too close for his liking.

"AGH!"

He suddenly screamed and fell off his chair in fright. Rubbing his back he groaned as pain shot throughout his body. That was going to leave a mark.

"Makoto-kun! Are you alright, sweetheart?" Chisa's ever-concerned face appeared directly in front of his. He gulped at the closeness. "Where does it hurt?"

In any other situation, Makoto would be aware that answering her question could only lead to more awkward moments. With his brain currently fried from the constant blushing, however? He couldn't help but answer.

"M-my back hurts. I think I bruised it."

He wasn't sure what to expect after admitting that but being picked up bridal style certainly didn't fall into his top ten.

"Wh-wh…" he gulped. "What are you doing, Yukizome-sensei?"

She smiled brightly at him before poking him on the nose playfully.

"I'm taking you to the infirmary silly! If you have a bruise I'll help take care of it for you."

He found using words to be difficult at the moment. So he just gulped and nodded, his blush not receding in the least.

"Hey!"

Chisa blinked at the sudden, and rather rude exclamation.

"Ah, yes Maizono-san?" she smiled, standing at the door, ready to leave. "What can I do for you? Naegi-kun is injured and needs help as soon as possible."

The idol looked affronted.

"B-but you're carrying him like that!? An-and…"

She trailed off; her brain officially fried from the overly affectionate teacher. Chisa blinked before she shrugged it off.

"Your tests are graded on the desk there. Thank Naegi-kun next time you see him for being so kind in his written remarks for you all. You truly are lucky to have him as a friend!"

The Ultimate Housekeeper waved brightly.

"Ja, ne!"

A classroom of bewildered and annoyed Ultimates in her wake

This whole situation was… bizarre, Makoto concluded. How he ended up in the arms of a beautiful teacher, being carried in such a manner to the infirmary, confused him. Still, her joyful humming and carefree attitude were plusses in his book.

He guessed he didn't have much to complain about.

Probably?

Still, be that as it may: there was something he needed confirmed.

"Ne, Yukizome-sensei…?"

She turned to the adorable bundle currently in her arms and gave him her happiest smile.

"Hm? What is it, Makoto-kun?"

He blushed.

"I was just wondering… since I'm your teaching assistant now, how often do we need to spend together…?"

It was more meant as a means of getting to know how many of his classes he would be missing, rather than a 'I want some space away from you'. So he hoped she wouldn't take it that way.

"What do you mean by that, silly?" she smiled obliviously. "You and I are going to be together all the time. From now until graduation!"

"Eh?"

"Of course that means we'll have to do a lot of paperwork and marking just like today. But of course we can spend a lot of time just hanging out together and getting to know one another." She chirped. "Don't worry. I'll help you with your work, so you don't get put behind in your class, Makoto-kun!"

"EH!?"

"Oh, right!" Chisa paused in her step as if in remembrance of something. "Since you'll be helping me teach my students and won't usually be able to attend your class, we won't have much time allotted to work on your stuff, on school hours… I guess that means you'll have to come over to my place for dinner every night so I can tutor you!"

Her smile could have cured any disease.

Makoto could do nothing but scream.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

A/N: Hey again after a few months xD. This chapter was just sort of a test. If you guys don't mind chapters of this length with just random crap happening without much of a storyline and just random connected events then I think I can keep going with this story. I think. I'm going to try anyway. Because wow the response to chapter one was crazy. You guys seriously blew me away. 3 I hope this one didn't disappoint though I know it wasn't too long and covered a small portion of similar ground. If you did enjoy this format though, let me know. I'll keep it in mind and hopefully update a bit more frequently :). Reviews are always loved :D
