"Think . . . rebirth." He had said. "Try for three times. Isles of the Blest."
He opened his eyes, blinking rapidly to adjust to the light around him. Where was he? He couldn't quite remember what had happened- did Kronos loose? Did Olympus fall? Were Thalia and Annabeth safe?
Then it rushed at him all at once; so fast, in fact, that if he had been standing he probably would've fallen.
Annabeth handing the dagger over.
Peeling away his armor. Gripping Annabeth's dagger with white knuckles as he drove it into his armpit- the last spot that held him to mortality. The only thing keeping Kronos from winning.
"You knew… I almost killed you, but you knew."
"Did you- Did you love me?"
And his final plea, to Percy. "Ethan. Me. All the unclaimed… Don't let it… Don't let it happen again."
He looked up to find a council arranged in front of him. Most of them frowning down upon him. Thanatos, the god of death, hovered nearby. Hades appeared a moment later, looking down upon Luke with an unreadable expression.
"Welcome to your trial, Luke Castellan."
Then he saw them. All the choices he made in his life- good or bad- within a matter of seconds. The judges nodded along, they must've been watching his life too. He saw choices he was proud to have made-
He handed Annabeth the dagger. He wanted to protect her, give her the family he never had.
And choices he wished he had never made at all-
He closed his eyes and let Kronos use his body as a vessel, the stepping stone to help him complete his master plan.
Luke wished for rebirth, wanted to be given the chance to correct the mistakes he made in this life- as well as live a virtuous enough life to go to the isles of the blest. But he knew he deserved the fields of punishment- he hadn't lived a good life at all.
"Do you have anything to add, Luke?" The middle judge asked, glaring down at him.
"I-" his voice sounded so small in his ears, he had become used to Krone's voice echoing from his body- so strong and confident… He felt so weak. "I guess I can only ask for forgiveness…. While I may have made the right choice in the end- I made so many wrong ones leading up to that point."
"I had hoped to be reborn, for the isles of the blest was the option I would pick- given the choice. But I know that is foolish to ask of you, even if I regret all the terrible things I've done. I just hope to not be sent to the fields of punishment, though I would understand if you sentenced me to that fate."
He looked up to the judges, to find them blinking at him with surprised expressions on their faces.
"Give us a minute to deliberate, we will be with you in a moment."
The judges were back within seconds, though it felt like an eternity. They smiled down on him, which made him nervous as all hell.
"We have decided to grant you rebirth, Luke Castellan."
Luke's knees almost buckled at those words.
"We believe that even when you were committing evil acts, it was only for the good of others- all the unclaimed demigods you were trying to help. We hope you will not disappoint us in your new life, in this new beginning we have granted you."
Luke thanked them immensely and began thinking back on all the things he had done wrong as he walked away. He would live a virtuous new life now that he had been granted one. He would be sure to right all of his wrongs, to live unselfishly, and to be good.
He was grateful for this new beginning.
Shortened it to 652 words, because these are supposed to be drabbles. This is the White Rose, which symbolizes New Beginnings. I hope y'all liked it!
