Just a little dabble I had when I got around to watching the recent new episode of When Calls The Heart.

~ Always ~

Rosemary refused to leave the bedside.

Every second she was there was every second of hope she had, and every second of worry increase.

Every second that she sat by his side, she knew that she'd be the first person that he would see. She had to be the first person he saw when he woke up. She had to be the first one. Rosemary only wanted Lee to see her first before the news of what happened to him would be reported.

Every second that she sat by his side, she knew that if something were to happen...she'd be right there. She didn't dare want to have to hear the news of Lee's passing. She had seen the emotional toil it took on Elizabeth when Jack died; not being there to help her husband. Rosemary knew that she, herself, could not handle it at all. She could perform well but only that could last for so long.

Day two she still hadn't said anything to him. Just stayed by his side waiting for those brown eyes to open and greet her warmly like they had done when they first met.

Later during the second day, still in her position, Rosemary glanced up to the ceiling; but really to the sky. She didn't speak as her voice was dry but she knew that a certain someone could hear her.

Don't let Lee be taken from me. Don't let Lee be taken from us, Jack. We need Lee. I need Lee. Hope Valley is still so lost without you here, we don't need to be lost again by losing Lee. Help him. Help Hope Valley.

Help me.

Day three, Rosemary was finally able to speak to Lee in his present state. She didn't know what to say to him. How to say it. In her mind she said, "Lee Coulter, you get up at once! I am not tolerating seeing you in bed like this! It's a nightmare!" But her heart said, "Please get up, please get up. I can't do this without you."

The words finally came from her soul.

"You were there for me when I had the chicken pox." Rosemary brushed back his hair. "You were there for me when I had the fever." Her throat began to dry up again. "You were always there for me, even when I didn't need it. Or realized I needed it. You were there for me when I did need it."

Rosemary leaned down and kissed his forehead tenderly. She took hold of both of Lee's hands into her own, firmly, and smiled as she tried to hold back the tears.

"You were there for me. I'm here for you. Always."
