Chapter 2. 'Introduction'
Special thanks to OrangeMacawWorld for notifying me of the rule against script style stories. I have decided to take the story in a different direction than planned. I will still have chatroom chapters, but I will focus more on normal chapters. Enjoy or suffer.
EDIT: THIS IS NO LONGER CHAPTER 2. IT IS NOW CHAPTER ONE. I DELETED CHAPTER ONE BECAUSE IT VIOLATED RULE 6. ON THE CONTENT GUIDELINES. I MAY REPLACE IT WITH A SKYPE CALL CONVERSATION, IF THATS ALLOWED. I HAVE SAVED ALL REMOVED CONTENT ONTO MY COMPUTER. PM ME AND I WILL GLADLY SEND YOU IT IN WORD DOCUMENT FORM. I APOLOGISE, I DIDN'T WANT TO, BUT ARE HIPPIES, SO I HAVE TO, OTHERWISE MY STORY MAY HAVE BEEN REMOVED. I AM VERY SORRY FOR THIS. I BLAME THE AZERBAJAINI LOCKPICKERS AND FROGS.
Today was the day that would change the lives of the four birds: Blu, Ted, Corey, and Jacques. They had never personally met each other, but had chatted with each other almost daily for a year. They all had a rare skill: The ability to read and write. They all lived solitary lives with their owners, and rarely saw other parrots. However in a series of events, each one of them will find someone. It all began two days prior, when Ted's owner, Simon, got a female cockatiel. We will get to that shortly.
Blu is a 15 year old socially awkward Spix's Macaw, a medium sized macaw from South America. Particularly found in riparian Caraibeira galleries in the Rio Sao Fransisco basin. However some had migrated south towards the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, the former capital of Brazil. They inhabited the surrounding mountainous forests of Rio. Blu's family was one of them.
He was taken from his home by smugglers at a young age. He had yet to learn to fly, and he was alone in his nest. He doesn't remember much, his parents were likely out collecting food for him. The birds outside sang their song, dazzling colours of birds of paradise against the lush, green foliage. It was a sight to behold, but was interrupted by smugglers and the chaos that ensued. Blu was captured and caged. He went on a journey that lasted a few days, he had no idea where he was, or where he was going. However luck was on his side. The truck he was in was at a small town in Minnesota. The driver got distracted by the radio and swerved, due to the improperly shut door, Blu was sent out.
Scared, alone, cold, Blu thought this was the end. A few minutes later a young, red haired girl approached the box he was in, she took care of him. Blu was spared from an uncertain fate, and was given love and affection for 15 years. Linda, his owner, owned a bookstore in the town of Moose Lake, Minnesota. Blu would help her out all he could. As he was a bird, he couldn't help as much as a human could, but he still helped nonetheless. Despite the loneliness, he was content with his life. It was certainly better than what he could've gotten if the smugglers had taken him to where they wanted.
Corey is a 12 year old African Grey parrot. He lives in the Canadian city of Vancouver, which ranks highly in the livability index. A beautiful city, known for its art and culture scene, as well as the natural scenic landscapes surrounding it. Corey was glad to live in Vancouver, and so were his owners, Phillip and Maria Evans, an elderly married couple. (50 years of age, married for 30 years) Corey was bred and raised in captivity.
His species is the African Grey, a medium sized parrot from the Congo rainforest, and equatorial Africa. His species is classified as endangered, due to the wild bird trade, deforestation, and hunting for their meat, and for use in traditional 'medicines'. Luckily, they are popular as pets, thanks to their ability to mimic human speech, and other sounds, and for their intelligence. While Blu may be smarter, his species, is likely the most intelligent of all parrots. Something Corey is quite proud of.
His owners don't own a business, like Linda, but instead live in the suburbs of Vancouver. Phillip is a painter, and has a large gallery of paintings spanning 30 years.
The most vulgar of the four, and also the youngest, at seven years of age. He is a Green Cheek Conure, a medium sized parrot (Something he is adamant that you know) found primarily in Bolivia and the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Jacques, like Corey and Ted, was born and raised in captivity. His owner, Christopher, has a vulgar and dark sense of humour. As his friends know, Christopher's humour passed onto Jacques'. Christopher is an aspiring rock musician, he has yet to release anything publicly, but has sold individual CD's to friends, and strangers. His broad love for rock, which also includes other related genres, including metal, and some pop/rock songs. Jacques also loves rock. (No, not cocaine)
Jacques lives in the town of Alamogordo, New Mexico. The hot, desert climate is a vast contrast to the lush rainforests his species comes from. His favourite pastime is watching movies and TV, playing with his toys and doing 'bird stuff'.
Ted is the smallest, second youngest, and most common of the four. He is a lutino cockatiel, a common parrot from Australia. Particularly found in arid and semi-arid bushland, and the interior of the continent. Cockatiels are very common pets- the second most common pet parrot, behind the Budgerigar, also from the interior of Australia. He has a yellow face and crest, and an orange spot on his cheeks, which make him look like he's blushing.
He lives with his owner, Simon, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One day Ted plans to meet Blu in person (or should I say 'bird' hahahahahaha I'm not funny). He is 7 and a half years old, and was, like Corey and Jacques, born and raised in captivity. The most 'innocent' (relative term) of the four, he lives a quiet life with his owner. However his quiet life would be changed for the better, as Simon had just bought a female pied cockatiel.
It was five days ago. Simon had gone out shopping, and left Ted home alone for two hours. Ted was having a bath when his owner came in, with a small cage containing a (in Ted's opinion) beautiful cockatiel. Her name is Lucy, and she is a year younger than Ted. However, they were kept separate, as in order to prevent the spread of disease, Lucy was quarantined for four days. Simon was advised this by the dealer. They had talked to each other a little, but Ted was very nervous around her. So he sought advice from his friends.
Ted was very nervous about speaking with her. He was afraid of being rejected by her. But, he will, as he feels as though it would improve his life a lot. He may even have chicks, but he wasn't sure about that. He had said that he would speak to her, but he was procrastinating. He told himself he will do it in two hours.
''Damn my anxiety''
And that concludes chapter two. This is an introductory chapter, and I will focus on Ted's relationship on chapter three. I also plan on having the others do the same thing. Sorry if this chapter was boring, and focused on giving out facts about their species. I promise next chapter will be more interesting. (Unless you love learning, like me)
I won't focus much on Blu, as you could just watch Rio. The events in the film are practically identical.
I didn't plan on this being a full on story, but I guess it will be now.
At a later date, I may re-write my older stories. Don't worry, I will keep all of my stories up.
Sorry for being an exposition dump, but I feel as though it's best to just get it out of the way. Or maybe I'm just lazy, who knows.
Until next time, goodbye.
Edited to correct some minor grammatical errors, added those horizontal lines, clarified the two cockatiel's breed (Lutino and Pied), and added an extra message. (18/04/2020) (Thanks OrangeMacawWorld)
