Niles couldn't believe it. After all the trouble that he and Daphne and Roz had gone through to find Frasier a date, he'd ended up with Lisa, the owner from the bookstore. Lisa, who was Niles' former patient. It was fate if ever fate existed. Knowing what he knew about Lisa, she would be good for Frasier and Niles hoped that their relationship would bring them both much happiness.
He turned to see Daphne smiling at him. But there were tears in her eyes. He rose at once and went to her, taking her hands in his. "What's wrong, sweetheart? Are you all right?"
She smiled and kissed him. "I'm fine. I'm just a little emotional."
"Well, what is it?"
She was in his arms, kissing his mouth and he certainly wasn't about to protest.
"This wedding, it's really going to happen, isn't it?"
"Of course it is, Daphne. I can't wait till we're husband and wife."
She kissed him again, a kiss that he'd remember for the rest of his life.
"I love you, Niles. Thank you for letting me ask Roz to be our maid of honor."
"It's my pleasure, Daphne. Roz and I may have had our differences, but she's been a wonderful friend to you and to me."
She said nothing in response, just put her arms around him and held her close.
And he never wanted to let her go.
