I hope you enjoy this story I thought up while cooking breakfast, but one warning, you will want to have some tissues at the ready. I think this is my first story ever that doesn't mention Legolas, so if it's not so great, it's probably said wood elf's absence. Also, Elrond does not sail yet here because I love writing about him and I think he should totally be around for this story. Galadriel and Celeborn are also in Middle Earth.

P.S. I do not own Lord of the Rings or Aragorn, Arwen, Elladan, Elrohir, Elrond, Celebrían, Eldarion, ETC., but I do own the plot, Ríneth, and Khyrmin.

Tears of Darkness

Aragorn's POV

When Khyrmin had stepped out of the room with that expression on his face, I just knew. There was no hope at all for her. Or any of us. Eldarion was still curled up in my lap, but he did not seem to get the message. Arwen was going. She might already be gone. Khyrmin had strode over to where I was seated on the floor with 'Dari curled up in a ball in my lap. He sat down next to me and leaned over so I could hear what Eldarion couldn't.

'My lord, I am sorry. There is nothing we can do. In this state, I wouldn't usually let anyone see her, but I think you should have the chance to say goodbye.' Khyrmin told me. Then he sat straight again and said louder, 'Well, would you like to see her? Elrond says you can come in.'

'Okay.' Said Eldarion, cheerfully. Too cheerfully. I followed him as he skipped to the door and fumbled with the knob for a few seconds before the door swung open to admit us. The room wasn't exactly a cheerful sight.

Arwen was lying in bed, white as a sheet (a white sheet, not a colored one). Elrond was sitting next to her, one hand holding tightly on to hers, the other holding a small bundle of blankets. Khyrmin did not follow us in.

Eldarion's POV

Daerada stood up to let Ada take his place. Ada looked like he was going to cry and Nana looked like she had seen a ghost (or a mouse). Daerada put his free arm around me and I leaned into him. He seemed sad, but I didn't know why. Everyone seemed sad. I did too, but I didn't know why.

'Eldarion, can I have a hug?' Daerada asked. It was then I realized that there were tears coursing down his face. I wrapped my arms around his legs.

'Why are you sad, Daerada?' I asked him. He smiled sadly.

'I'm fine, 'Dari, don't worry about me. You should go see your naneth.' He kissed my head and I walked towards her and Ada. Ada picked me up and put me next to him. I moved towards Nana and she put her arms around me.

'I love you, ion nin, please remember that.' She told me. My eyes filled with tears. I had always remembered that. I knew she loved me with all her heart.

'I love you too, Nana.' I said, and my eyes spilled over.

Aragorn's POV

I watched Arwen and Eldarion speak to each other for what was probably the last time and I bit my lip. It didn't stop the tears from spilling out of my eyes. Elrond came and sat next to me.

'Estel.' He said quietly. I turned to him.

'Ada?'

'Although Arwen is leaving us, your daughter has survived. She is weaker than she should be, but she is alive.' He handed me the small bundle of blankets that he had been cradling. I looked down into her tiny face. Her eyes were closed, but she was only sleeping. I had not thought that she might survive, but she did. She was alive.

'Thank you.' I murmured to no one in particular. Maybe Elrond. Or Arwen. Or the Valar in general. It could have been none of them. It could have been all of them. It didn't matter. I just wanted to thank whoever let me keep my son and daughter even when my wife was taken from me.

Elrond put his arms around me. I don't even think he was doing it for me. I think he hugged me to comfort himself. Just then the door to the room opened and Elladan and Elrohir entered. Elrond didn't bother to remind them not to slam the door. They hadn't done it. Elrohir took three long strides towards us and dropped to his knees next to his sister, tears already welling up in his eyes. Elladan sat down next to Elrohir and pulled his twin into his arms. We stayed like that for a long while. It could have been hours. It could have been a few minutes. More likely somewhere in between. Elrond with his arms around me. I held my daughter. Elladan and Elrohir stayed on the floor, Elrohir in Elladan's lap. Eldarion curled up next to Arwen who had her arms around him. Eventually, our sobs quieted. Elladan and Elrohir were the first to leave. They stood up and each kissed Arwen on the forehead with quiet whispers of 'Namarië, Arwen, muinthel nin.' They quietly padded out of the room. Then Elrond stood. He simply stood, gazing at Arwen as tears streamed down his face. Eventually, he walked over to her limp form, and knelt next to it. He ran his fingers through her hair and leant over her so that their noses were touching. Elrond kissed her forehead as well, murmuring something quietly. He then followed Elladan and Elrohir out of the room. 'Dari and I stayed there for a long time.

''Dari.' I said after a minute. He looked at me. 'We should go now, ion nin.' I stood up and he slid off the bed. I waited for a second before kissing Arwen on the lips. 'Namarië, melleth nin. I will always love you.' An then I turned and followed 'Dari to the door.

'Ada?' He asked me as I followed him out.' Do you think Nana will get better?'

I almost didn't have the heart to tell him that she was already gone. But I had to. So I did. When I had explained it, he looked up at me, eyes streaming.

'Why did she go?'

'She didn't mean to, penneth, she wanted to stay with us.' I told him, 'Come here, Eldarion, you have not met your baby sister yet, have you?' He shook his head and walked cautiously towards me.

'What's her name?' He said, once he had looked at her for a good long while.

'Ríneth.' I told him. It was the name Arwen and I had agreed on.

Celebrían's POV

I found myself in a strange place. I had only been here once before. When I had arrived here. But I had not just arrived. That was when I saw why Namo had brought me here. A black haired elleth was standing in front of me. Arwen. She stepped towards me. And I walked right to her and threw my arms around her.

'Nana.' She said as we let go of each other.

'Arwen. Why are you here? What happened?' I asked her.

'I think I'm dead. Or I know I am.'

'Come. You must tell me everything.' We walked back the way I had come and she told me everything.

Okay, how bad was it? Pop me a review or two, I want to see what you think.

I enjoyed writing this, so maybe you enjoyed reading it. I hope it made sense.
