Hey! Here I am back with a story no one asked for with a pairing no one asked for! However this is the first and only story I have fully completed so I'm proud of myself.

Disclaimer: I do not own Marvel or Harry Potter. They both belong to their respective people.

I read the hastily written letter in my hand as I had hundreds of times. It had been left on my sill two years ago and had no name on it. Only a vague message.

We need more time.

Something about it had left a sick feeling in my stomach that I couldn't ignore, and the scent of the same time sand used in turners, such as the one I used in Hogwarts, lingered on the parchment after all this time.

Since then, I had started enchanting more sand, despite the Ministry's tight grip on time travel. It would take years to complete but, I couldn't get rid of the cloying feeling that crept into my chest.

"We've been off ops for two years now. What does Kingsley want from us?" Ginny Weasley wonders aloud, breaking my concentration and forcing me to look back to the sword on my table. I was working on a new project, infusing magic into weapons much like the sword of Gryffindor.

All I need now is for the metal to allow my magic to infuse then it will-

A violent spark shocks my hand and I pull it back with a gasp.

"Bollocks." I sigh, returning the blade to its case as my eyes wander to a piece of paper pinned to the wall. Ginny sees my wandering eyes and gives me a sad smile that I can't bear to look at. "Well, we know it's never good news when it comes to Shacklebolt's urgent messages. Perhaps a new crop of Death Eaters sprouted up and he wants us to do our job."

"Mia, you can talk to me abo-"

"It's been a while but, we're still the best. What with Harry taking care of Teddy and Ron shagging every girl with a pulse." The quick change of subject makes my intentions clear; I did not want to talk about that right now. "Plus, I don't believe Luna could continue considering she seven months along now."

Gin stares at me for a few moments before shaking her head.

"You're right." She concedes. "We should floo over there now. You have your go-bag, right?"

I scoff at her question, holding up a black back the size of my hand. I had swapped my old purple beaded bag for it years back. Shrinking down the sword case, I shove it into the sack and nod; ready to go. The bag never left my belt; I always wanted to be prepared.

Old habits die hard, I guess.

Ginny disappears in a flurry of green flames and I hesitate where I stand, glancing back towards the paper on my wall and the photo next to it.

Something in my gut told me I wouldn't be seeing my cozy flat anytime soon, so I grab them off my wall and shove them into my bag, stepping into the fireplace and throwing a handful of powder down.

"Minister Kingsley Shacklebolt's Office; Ministry of Magic." The flames lick up my legs and leave them almost uncomfortably warm and, in the blink of an eye, I arrive in the oddly modest office with three pairs of eyes watching me.

"I appreciate the two of you coming so quickly." Shacklebolt's accented voice begins once I take my place next to Ginny.

"Of course. What is it you need of us?" Gin asks formally.

We never spoke to Kingsley with such formality but, the man in the dark trench coat and eyepatch standing in the corner, has her on edge.

Me as well. He wasn't magical, I could feel it.

"You are two of the best witches on this side of the world." The Minister begins, sending my stomach plummeting. His flattery sends red flags up in my mind. "Which I why I chose you for this mission."

"Tell us. There's no use beating around the bush Kingsley." The man in the corner lets out a sharp laugh at my words.

"I like her, cousin. She's got spunk." I wasn't sure what I was expecting but, an American muggle in the British Ministry of Magic wasn't it. "The name is Nick Fury and I'm here to talk to you about the Avengers."

Ginny's eyes dart to me, waiting for a reaction. We knew of them. Especially after what had happened with Ultron but, that was years ago and I made it a point to ignore them, for my own reasons.

"No." Kingsley's eyes widen at my sudden answer.

"No?" He repeats back and I hear Ginny's voice in my mind via our mindweb.

"Mia. He won't be there. Half of them are on the run after a falling out two years ago."

Two years ago? It was probably just after Gin and I returned to the Wizarding World. We hadn't been back to the muggle world since then. Or at least I hadn't.

"What falling out?" I ask, while keeping my eyes on the two men in front of us.

"Everything I researched was redacted. Captain America and Tony Stark went against one another. That's all I know." She coughs, ending our conversation.

"It takes a brave soldier to go against orders without hearing them first." The arrogant tone dropped from Fury's voice, leaving only seriousness in its wake.

"We're listening." Gin says stiffly.

"Half of my team is in hiding and the other half are either missing or unwilling. Over the past few years I have been receiving reports. Someone had been going planet to planet wiping out half of the population before moving to the next."

Of course, Aliens. Why wouldn't it be?

"You think they're on their way to Earth. You need more fighters." I keep my voice sharp, eyeing Ginny's anxious twitch.

"We need more Defenders Miss Granger." His emphasis doesn't go over my head. "Kingsley said you two are the best. Highly skilled in magical and muggle combat. You two have single handedly infiltrated and taken down an entire sect of Death Eaters after months of undercover work, mastered time travel, and above all, you are good people."

Silence envelopes the office in it's unpleasant embrace. Ginny breaks the tension with a sigh.

"The Headquarters is in New York. That's where we'll be moved to if we agree, correct?"

She and I share a look of understanding.

We were going to do it. My aversion to the Avengers wasn't bigger than what was coming.

"Yes, it is. Have you ever been?" Fury asks with a smile.

"Once." I answer, retying the bag on my belt and nodding. "It was a long time ago though."

There it is! First Chapter done!
