Prologue II
Torrac Warsaw, 28, Head Gamemaker
Another Hunger Games had passed, and I was still living. We were in the process of building this year's arena, and it could either be amazing or a complete flop, which would of course end up with me dead. It was a risk, but I hoped it would pay off.
I was currently on my way to show the President all of my ideas for this year.
Knock, knock.
"Come in," President Tides answered. I pushed open the door to her immaculate office. There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere and everything was perfectly in its place. Of course, she had done none of the work, but I never said anything about that.
"You have the plans for this year's Hunger Games?" she asked. I scrambled to open up the tablet and project the screen onto the table.
These are the plans we are currently working off of," I said, hoping that they would be good enough for the president's critical eye. With her grey hair pulled back into a tight bun and a freshly ironed suit, you knew that you did not want to mess with her.
"It's very risky, isn't it?" she asked. "They could die within hours without the proper precautions."
"We know, and have taken that into account. The tributes will be given something extra before we send them up."
"Remember, Torrac, this year's Games need to be spectacular, or I'm afraid I'll have to replace you. Especially after last year. The powers were spectacular to watch, but there were barely any mutts. And taking all food away did next to nothing. People do sponsor the tributes, so remember this before taking any unnecessary risks," the President said, giving me a hard stare.
"I know, and I promise, this year will be amazing. This is not an unnecessary risk, it's going to work very well. I give you my word," I said confidently.
"And I'll hold you to it," the President said. "Now go. You have many preparations to make."
"Yes, I do," I said, exiting the room. "This will not disappoint you!"
