26"It's good to see you, Boss!" He said and entered in the house. Gibbs smile and shook his head."Not your Boss anymore DINOZZO! C'mon in." Gibbs said and hugged him. And patted his head."It's good to see you too, DiNozzo. Good to see you too." Gibbs said with big smile. Phineas was looking so confused. But he was happy to see Gibbs happy. That kid really adores Gibbs.
AT GIBBS HOUSE
"How are you? And Ziva?" Gibbs asked and make some room so Tony can enter inside.
"I'm good and so as our Ninja. She wanted to spend her time with Tali so I came alone as you can see." DiNozzo replied with his charming smile.
"Well it's good to hear that she's finally reunited with her family. I'm happy for you and Ziva." Gibbs said as he and DiNozzo sat down on the couch.
"So... what kind of trouble this time you get yourself in Gibbs?" DiNozzo asked him as he noticed bruising on Gibbs's face and bandage on his right hand.
"What makes you think that I got myself into some kind of trouble?" Gibbs said with no expression.
"C'mon Boss I am highly trained Special agent..."
"WAS.." Gibbs cut his sentence in middle.
"What?" DiNozzo sounds disappointed.
"You are not an Agent anymore. You resigned. And I'm okay." Gibbs replied.
"Are you hungry? I'm making some sandwiches for Phineas and myself so if you are hungry I'll make it for you too." Gibbs asked him and started walking toward the kitchen.
"Hey... you don't have to make sandwiches for me or anyone, not in this situation. I'll order some Pizzas for us. You take some rest Boss... I mean Gibbs." Tony getup and stop him. Because Gibbs was not in good condition afterall.
"Hey, kid do you like Pizza?" Tony asked Phineas. And he nods with big smile.
"Great two votes for Pizzas. Actually one and a half votes. You can't vote at the age of nine kiddo. Right Bos.. Gibbs?" DiNozzo said. Gibbs shook his head and smiles.
"Hey! I'm Ten years old now. And at the age of nine I helped Jethro Gibbs to solved a case. So this voting doesn't count, right Jethro Gibbs?" Phineas said
"Ofcourse..." Gibbs replied
"Okay, one more competitor." Tony whispered and hide his jealousy behind his big smile.
"That's so sweet... I mean you HELPED GIBBS! The great Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Wait a minute... Gibbs allowed you to call him Jethro! He never allowed me and he allows you! That's a..."
"C'mon, DiNozzo he is just a kid." Gibbs said. He can see jealousy in Tony's eyes.
"Okay, but I have a question for you kid, how did you met Gibbs?" DiNozzo asked with curiosity.
"I want to know the same thing about how did you and Jethro Gibbs met?" Phineas asked.
"Well that's a very interesting. I arrested him when I was working as a cop in Baltimore." Dinozzo said with a big smile as he make himself comfortable on the couch.
Gibbs didn't said anything but he raised his eyebrows in surprise because we all know that wasn't the whole truth. He looked at DiNozzo with same look and DiNozzo looked back at him and Gibbs gave him a mischievous grin. DiNozzo's smile fade away from his face.
"Doesn't he know about Rule number seven Jethro Gibbs?" Phineas asked Gibbs.
"He does." Gibbs laugh and replied Phineas's question.
"C'mon kid. I know Gibbs' all rules. "Always carry a knife" right Gibbs?" DiNozzo said with proud. When Gibbs didn't reply he said with confused face.
"What isn't it the Rule Number Seven Boss?"
"NOPE. It's a Rule nine." Gibbs said with flat face.
"Always be specific when you lie." Phineas said. Gibbs gave a bossy look at Tony.
"Jethro Gibbs LET YOU arrest him because he's like a James Bond. He'll never do anything without a solid reason. Am I right?" Phineas said with surety.
"Aaha... I know that rule I was just pretending like I didn't know. By the way how did you know about these rules?" DiNozzo tried to cover it and he narrowed his eyes and asked Phineas.
"Jethro Gibbs taught me." Phineas said and Gibbs ruffle his hair.
"Now would you like to share the whole story DiNozzo!" Gibbs said with a smile.
"You are very smart kid. Well he was working undercover when I arrested him. Now it's your turn. How did you met Gibbs?" DiNozzo was surprised by his smartness. Now he know why Gibbs like him so much.
"Well I was playing baseball on my way to school and accidentally I broke Jethro Gibbs's window." DiNozzo laughs
"That would be your one of the worst day. I'm very sorry for what happened with you after that. I completely understand that. Trust me." DiNozzo still can't control his laugh but he stops when Gibbs gave him a glare.
"NO! THAT WAS THE BEST DAY IN MY LIFE. Well after that I started walking without looking back but he got me. I was so scared when he was walking toward me. But he was not mad at me at all.
He introduced himself and then after that incident we became friends. He gifted me a baseball glove and then he taught me how to throw a ball. And we played catch sometimes.
Then he helped me with my science project and we won the sciencefair..." Phineas was telling everything about how he met with Gibbs and everything.
"Okay, now I officially declare that I'm getting jealous of you." DiNozzo confessed finally but he received another glare from Gibbs. But he was saved by pizza delivery. He opened the door and collects the Pizzas and pays the money.
"Thank God. I am starving C'mon Boss it's my treat." He said as he smelled the aroma from pizza boxes.
They started eating pizzas and then after finishing their meal Gibbs make some coffee. They all are sitting in the hall Gibbs noticed that Phineas fell asleep on the couch. He told DiNozzo to pick him up and take him to his spare bedroom. DiNozzo gently picked him up in his arms and take him to the bedroom. When he came downstairs he noticed that Jack was back from the office and was talking with Gibbs.
"Hey, Jack! What took you so long? I've been waiting for you." Gibbs said as she entered in the house.
"So.. sorry Gibbs. I was thinking to call you but Vance gave me some suspects profiles to annalise. Sorry.." Sloane put her hands on Gibbs's shoulders and explained that how much she was busy.
"It's okay. You don't have to say sorry." Gibbs said in soft words. They both turned around when they heard footsteps.
"Aah... agent Sloane! Finally we met. It's good to see you." DiNozzo hand shakes with her.
"It's good to see you too, DiNozzo." Sloane replied.
"Oh... please call me 'Tony'. My friends called me Tony so... it just Tony." DiNozzo started flirting with Sloane but suddenly he felt slap on back of his head.
"Oww... what was that for Boss?" He rubbed his head and asked Gibbs.
"You are married and father of one child. So stop flirting. Not with Sloane" Gibbs replied. Sloane tried to hide her smile.
"I will but I don't think so agent Sloane have any problem with that. Am I right agent Sloane?" DiNozzo said with mischievous smile.
"How's Ziva, Tony?" Sloane avoid his question and ask.
"Well it's looks like nobody missed me here. Everyone is asking about Ziva and not about me." DiNozzo spread his arms and complain to Gibbs and Sloane.
"Oh... I'm so sorry! How are you DiNozzo?" Jack asked. And she saw Gibbs shaking his head and sits down on the couch.
"You didn't change at all DiNozzo! Not a one percent." Gibbs said
"Well thank you for your complement Boss. And I am fine and Ziva is busy with Tali she wants to spend most of time with Tali as much as she can."
"I understand her situation. As a woman I understand how does it feels to stay away from your daughter. And I am happy for her. She had been through a lot of pain only to just gets back to her daughter, her family and to you." Sloane said DiNozzo can clearly hear the pain in her voice.
"Speaking from the experience, agent Sloane?" Tony asked in firm voice. Sloane just stared at him and then she asked Gibbs.
"Hey... where's Phineas?"
"Upstairs, fell asleep after having a lunch." Gibbs answered.
"Hey, Jack! I am going downstairs in basement. Hey DiNozzo are you coming or not?" Gibbs stood up and started walking toward the basement.
"Okay, you got fifteen minutes Cowboy. I'll be with Phineas." Sloane said and when she called him Cowboy in front of DiNozzo! He turned around and just give her a look but she gave him a big smile and blink her eyes.
"DiNozzo!" Gibbs yelled without breaking his eye contact with Sloane. DiNozzo jumped on his feet.
"On your six Boss!" Tony said and share his look with Jack. She just mouthed "GOOD LUCK." DiNozzo got it. He's gut feeling was right about Gibbs behavior.
Because he knows Gibbs is upset with him and that's why he waited for Sloane. He knows Gibbs didn't want to talk with him in front of Phineas. So he just followed Gibbs to the basement.
IN THE BASEMENT
"What happened Boss? I mean Gibbs." He rubbed his palms on his suit's blazer. His hands were sweating. After four years he and Gibbs came face to face like this.
"What are you doing here?" Gibbs asked him.
"C'mon, can't I just visit my old friend."
"Cut the crap Tony and answer my question. What are you doing here?" Gibbs asked him. Tony laughs but he answer him.
"I am sorry Boss! I was not with you when you needed me."
"Who told you that I need you?"
"C'mon Gibbs..."
"You just can't came here to ask for an apology, DiNozzo. I know you better than you." Gibbs said and poured his mug and jar with bourbon. And offered it to DiNozzo.
"I know you are mad at me Gibbs. And I am not complaining. But I have my own reasons. I had to keep it to myself. Rule Number Four like you taught us."
"Just like I taught you! I never taught you to keep secrets from your team, your friends!" Gibbs yelled at him but he grabbed his chest as pain rain through his ribs.
"Woah...Boss! Are you okay? Please sit down. C'mon here." Tony gently grabbed his left shoulder and help him to sit down on the chair.
"I'm okay." DiNozzo laughed in sarcasm.
"And you are telling me that I didn't change at all! Look at you Gibbs, you are still stubborn ass." Gibbs just gave him a angry glare.
"Sorry... I didn't mean that! I just can't see you in pain.."
"OH... REALLY! AND WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE ABOUT THE PAIN THAT YOU GAVE ME?" Gibbs stood up and shout at him, his left hand was still on his chest.
"What are you talking about?" Tony asked him and he clenched his teeth.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THAT YOU FOUND ZIVA IN CAIRO? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THAT SHE'S ALIVE? DON'T YOU THINK IT'S MY RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT ZIVA! SHE'S LIKE MY DAUGHTER TO ME! HUN... DINOZZO!" Gibbs was really disappointed with him.
"You know why Gibbs. She didn't want to put anyone else's life in danger because of that bi* who wanted her dead. I wanted to informed you trust me but it's risky for you too. She didn't even talk with me even after I found her. We met last time in Cairo and then I met her when she came back.
I know you are angry Gibbs. And yes it was your right to know that she's alive. But I didn't tell you because I know you. I know you would go after Sahar on your own without telling anyone not even Ducky!
And you put your life in danger so many times. Even after I resigned from NCIS you decided to go Paraguay and get yourself caught by those bastards. You and McGee were tortured and beaten by those rebels until NCIS rescued you."
"THAT WAS MY DECISION TO STAY BEHIND SO MCGEE AND THAT MARINE COULD LEAVE WITH THOSE KIDS. BUT HE CAME AFTER ME AND I RESPECTED HIS DECISION. I TOLD HIM TO GO THE DAY BEFORE WE ATTACKED ON THE COMPOUND BUT HE DENIED." Gibbs Replied.
"It's not ended here Boss. You are not same person after Abby left. You didn't stop there you accepted that undercover mission to catch Crawford.
And very recently your DOPPELGANGER takes your place and he kidnapped you to take revenge on you! And because of that sick bastard Bishop and McGee got hurt."
"SO YOU'RE SAYING THAT WHAT HAPPENED WITH BISHOP WAS MY FAULT!"
"NO! I AM NOT SAYING THAT. I AM SAYING THAT FOR THE SAME REASON I DIDN'T TELL YOU ABOUT ZIVA! EVERY TIME YOU PUT YOUR LIFE IN DANGER JUST TO PROTECT US! SO WHAT I DID WRONG BOSS, IF I DIDN'T TELL YOU ABOUT ZIVA FOR THE SAME REASON? HUN... GIBBS!" DiNozzo said loudly. Then he stops for a moment and drink all bourbon in one gulp.
"I LOST MY ONE DAUGHTER BEFORE I DON'T WANT TO LOSE ANOTHER ONE. YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND MY SITUATION, YOU ARE FATHER TOO DINOZZO!" Gibbs said with broken voice.
"Do you remember when I came to visit you before I resigned?"
"Yeah, I do." Gibbs replied calmly
"You told me to take care of my family. And that I did. You are my family too Gibbs. And that's the reason why I didn't tell you." DiNozzo said with heavy voice. After long pause Gibbs said.
"Okay." Gibbs simply said
"That's it! Just okay?" DiNozzo was shocked by his reaction.
"Yeah. What else do you want?Atta boy?"
"That would be nice." DiNozzo said and before he could say anything Gibbs gave him a hug. They both have tears in their eyes.
"I missed you kid. I missed you..."
"I missed you too." DiNozzo said and then he cleared his throat. And walk toward the boat.
"Ziva told me that guy name with Nick Torres is my replacement. Is he better than me?" He leaned against the boat and folded his hand and asked.
"I told you before that you are irreplaceable. He didn't replaced you. He just filled the empty desk. But yes he's a damn good agent. And you are not just better, you are THE BEST. And I proud of you." Gibbs said with proud.
"Wow... you never told me that you are proud on me."
"Yeah, made a mistake. I should have to tell you before. Like they said Better late than never." Gibbs said with smile.
"Thank you Boss. I mean I never cried easily but today you made me cry." He blinked his eyes few times and wipes his tears.
"I thought you said that "DiNozzo's never cried!" What happened?" Gibbs said with smile and take a sip from his mug.
"You are getting old Gibbs... I said that "DiNozzo's never Pass out." Remember?" Gibbs simply walked toward him and head slapped him.
"Every time when someone calls me old that person dies or ends up behind the bars. You are lucky DiNozzo that I care for you." Gibbs said and he gently tapped on his face.
"Oh.. Thank you very much Boss. I'm feeling so lucky today. I mean that you made my century." He replied in his funny way.
"So..."
"So... what?" Gibbs asked
"So are you going to say YES or not?"
"Whatever you want to say just say it DiNozzo."
"Well are you going to say YES to agent Sloane? She's a good woman Boss."
"I know. But I can't..." Gibbs said with hesitation.
"Why? Because you are afraid of losing her? C'mon Boss, just tell her how much you love her. And I'm not telling you to get marry. But just tell her how much she meant to you. We all have families and we want that you have your family too." Tony said
"Who said that I don't have my family?
You guys are my family. You all are. You all are like my kids. And I'm happy with that." Gibbs replied.
"It's good to know. But it's looks like you're afraid."
"I am afraid of nothing." Gibbs replied immediately.
"Then tell agent Sloane that..." before he complete his sentence Sloane interrupt them.
"Are you trying to trick me DiNozzo?" Gibbs stops as he heard her voice.
"Hey... tell agent Sloane what Tony?" She was standing on stairs.
"Hah... nothing. It's a private talk right Gibbs?"
"Did Gibbs told you that I can read your mind." Sloane said.
"Then you don't have to ask Gibbs for his answer..." DiNozzo laughs. But Gibbs gave him his famous glare.
"Okay, I think it's time for me to leave I have flight to catch in the early morning." He started walking toward the staircase.
"You are not going anywhere you are staying with me DiNozzo. Hey... I am not asking." Gibbs said as he noticed that he was going to argue with him on this topic.
"Okay... so are you ready for round two?" He asked with big smile.
"Of what?" Gibbs and Sloane asked together.
"PIZZA." He said with big smile.
"No. I'm not going to eat that crap again. I will make steak. Jack?" Gibbs asked Sloane for if she wants to eat Pizza or Steak.
"I am going to eat Steak." She replied. Gibbs looks at Tony and raised his eyebrows and smiles.
"Okay then I will order some Pizzas for me and Phineas. Okay Boss! Hey, Boss!" After putting the jar on the table he saw Gibbs was not there.
Gibbs just shook his head and laughed and started walking toward the staircase. Sloane and Tony followed him to the upstairs.
So Gibbs blamed Tony for not telling him about Ziva. And Tony explain why he didn't tell him. Now everything is fine between them. And DiNozzo was trying to convince Gibbs to say YES to Sloane.But Gibbs's still not ready because he was afraid to lose her.
