Tori was at home, laying on her couch and reading a book. Her Mom was texting someone. Tori was about to ask her Mom who she was texting when she heard a knock at the door. "I'll get it."
"Sure thing," said her Mom, who didn't even look up from her phone.
Tori got off the couch and flung the door open. She froze when she saw who was on the other end. "Jade?"
"Hey Tori," said Jade. She shifted around nervously.
Tori's Mom looked up from her phone. "Oh hi Jade. Are you here because of school?"
"No," said Jade. "I was...I was just in the neighborhood and wanted to see Tori."
"That's nice," said Tori's Mom. "You know, I was just saying the other day that Tori was working herself too hard and she should hang out with her friends more."
"Yeah," said Jade. "Well I kind of need to talk to Tori about something."
"Sure," said Tori's Mom. "Go ahead."
"Let's go to my room." Tori lead Jade up the stairs and to her room. She closed the door behind them. Jade stood in the middle of Tori's room, nervously looking around. Tori sighed. "So, how weird was it that Sikowitz made us do a skit about me giving you a backrub? I mean, is he psychic or what?"
"Thanks," said Jade.
"You're welcome," said Tori. "Um, what am I being thanked for?"
"For being so cool during class," said Jade.
"I wasn't exactly cool," said Tori. "I kind of made a fool out of myself in front of everyone."
"I know," said Jade. "But I get that you did it so things wouldn't be awkward. I really appreciate that."
"Anything for a friend," said Tori. "I'm sure you would've done the same."
Jade sat down on Tori's bed, trying not to meet the other girl's eyes. After awhile she spoke. "If the situation was reversed, I would've messed with you."
"I see," said Tori. "Well, I still would've tried to make it less awkward for you, even if you wouldn't do the same for me."
"I shouldn't have gotten mad at you earlier today," said Jade. "I thought you would tell everyone, but you were a good friend."
Tori sat down next to Jade, putting her arm around her. "You know it doesn't have to be awkward. There's nothing wrong with enjoying my backrub."
"I didn't enjoy your backrub," said Jade.
"You sure sounded like you did," said Tori.
"I mean I really enjoyed your backrub," said Jade. "Like I really, really enjoyed it."
"Well thanks, I'm glad you really enjoyed...oh." It suddenly dawned on Tori what Jade meant. "I see. So you were...turned on."
Jade bit her bottom lip. "I think it's because I've been lonely without Beck. He was the only guy who wasn't afraid of me. Now that he's gone there's nobody who wants to be my boyfriend."
"You kind of come off as intense," said Tori. "Maybe you could dial it back a bit?"
"I don't know," said Jade. "When you were giving me that backrub, I imagined we were back together and he was touching me again."
"So you thought I was Beck?" said Tori.
"I tried," said Jade.
"I don't know," said Tori. "It seems to me like you're just lonely."
"No duh," said Jade.
"I mean, you don't have to be lonely," said Tori. "So you've broken up with Beck. You've still got lots of friends. There's Cat, and Andre, and Robbie, and me. And depending on how you count him, there's Rex."
"Lucky me," said Jade. Tori could see a tear rolling down her face.
"Well like us or not, we're there for you," said Tori.
Jade sighed. "Thanks."
"Here," said Tori. "If you want, I can give you another backrub and you can pretend I'm Beck."
Jade snorted. "Come on."
"I'm serious," said Tori. "We're here. We're alone. No one's going to bother us. I won't tell anyone. What do you say?"
"You know what," said Jade. "I'll take you up on your offer."
"Great," said Tori, lowering her voice. "What do you think of my Beck voice? Is it convincing?"
"It's okay." Jade took off her shirt and lay facedown on the bed.
"Let's get started babe." Tori grabbed a bottle of lotion that was on her nightstand and filled her hands with lotion. She positioned herself behind Jade. "So um, do you mind if I take off your bra. You know so it doesn't get in my way."
"Sure," said Jade.
Tori started to unhook Jade's bra, but was having some difficulty. "So Jade, I'm having trouble unhooking your bra."
"Really?" said Jade. "How hard can it be?"
"It's my hands," said Tori. "They're all slippery because I rubbed lotion on them. Can you help me out?"
"Fine." Jade reached behind her back to unhook the bra clasp, but she too had some trouble. "What did you do?"
"What?" said Tori.
"The clasp is all slippery," said Jade. "You rubbed lotion all over it."
"I'm sorry," said Tori. "I just thought it would make my hands feels soft."
"Here, I got it off," said Jade, who tossed her bra to the side.
"Thank god." Tori put her hands on Jade's shoulders and started rubbing. "You like that babe?"
"I love it," said Jade. "Go harder Beck. Harder."
"Whatever you want." Tori's hands squeezed Jade's muscles. "Like this?"
"Oh yeah," said Jade.
Tori continued with her massage, doing her best Beck impression. She focused on kneading Jade's body and rubbing her down. She was so focused that she didn't notice the sound of footsteps coming from the hallway outside of her room, nor the sound of her door opening. "Hey Tori, I was thinking of...oh my god!"
"Mom!" Tori froze, a look of panic on her face as she stared at her Mom standing in the doorway. Jade jumped off the bed, using a blanket to cover herself up. Tori's Mom just looked at the two for what felt like a minute, saying nothing. "Mom, I can explain."
"Look, I'm not judging," said Tori's Mom. "I just wish you were more honest with me."
"It's not like that," said Tori. "I was-"
"I get it, I get it," said Tori's Mom. "Just let me leave before you guys start again."
