For this chapter, I'm going to take a random guess and say it takes around a year for everyone to be recruited. Also, for me, the Ninja are still really young when they start out.

Dear Diary,

It's been awhile, but I've been quite busy. On top of the mountain I ended up meeting an old man who calls himself Sensei Wu. He offered to train me to be a ninja and protect Ninjago. I accepted, mostly because I was bored and needed a new challenge. Of course, saving Ninjago also seems exciting.

The past few weeks, I've been training at an old Monastery. I've learned to fight both with my hands, but also using a weapon called a scythe. There is also a thing called Spinjitsu, but I haven't learned that yet.

I had thought I was very fit from climbing mountains, but now I'm constantly working out. I have to get up around 6 each morning, but the training isn't too bad…yet.

The only thing I'm not sure of is that the word 'team' was mentioned. I'm not certain how well I'll do with another person, as I've never been very social.

Sensei had left this morning, claiming to go find a new student. I don't know how well this will work out, but I'll try my best. Besides, I think Mom would like me to try and make friends, so if nothing else, I'll do it for her.

Dear Diary,

My new teammate's name is Jay. He has bright auburn hair and bright blue eyes that seem to want to take everything in at the same time. In the short time I've known him, I've observed that he likes to talk a lot, so much that I've given him the nickname Motormouth. Jay says that he is also some what of an inventor, so that should be interesting.

Jay also seems to like playing video games. We occasionally have gaming competitions if we're not too tiered from the day's training.

Despite Jay seeming full of energy and unfocused, he is very determined when it comes to training. I have shown him some moves and he is getting better on the training course. Jay has also started using nun chucks as his choice of weapon. We occasionally spar now; and our skills keep improving.

Today I noticed something. When we are not in our Gi's I tend to wear dark or black clothes while Jay wears clothes that are blue. I guess Jay's favorite color is blue, from the looks of it.

Jay is full of energy and life, always cracking jokes and puns and overall, not very serious and quite immature. I, on the other hand, seem very mature next to him in the fact that I am quiet and mostly serious. But even I crack a smile occasionally at Jay's jokes. Even though we are different, we seem to get along well together. I can already tell that we are going to be close friends, and I like that.

It's getting late, so I better go to bed. Yet I still have a feeling that there is more that Sensei isn't telling us. I'll have to figure it out later. Maybe Jay could help.

Dear Diary,

The last month or so has been filed mostly with training. Me and Jay have gotten closer and are now best friends.

But today was…interesting if not completely embarrassing. For the last few years, I have occasionally drawn in a sketch book. I would always sketch a view from the top of a mountain or of something else that came of interest. I sketch mostly landscapes, but I sometimes do people.

Today, I was taking a break from training and decided to try to sketch the training area. I was so involved in my drawing that I didn't see Jay as he walked over and looked over my shoulder. When I did notice him, I felt my face start to heat up. I thought he would mention how a seemingly tough guy like me could do something as calming as sketching.

Instead, all Jay said was that he thought I was good at drawing. Then he had walked inside saying something about it getting too cold to be out.

This incident made me realize just how much me and Jay understood each other. Jay knew not to tease me about drawing just as I knew not to tease him about his inventions blowing up in his face.

Christmas is coming, and I just realized that this Christmas I will be spending it with Jay and Sensei. We are also allowed the day off, so that's a plus.

Dear Diary,

Merry Christmas! Today me and Jay exchanged gifts that we had bought earlier. I gave Jay a new set of tools because his old ones were starting to get rusty. Jay got me a new sketch book, I guess he noticed that my old one was almost filled up. Kind of made me glad he saw that I like to sketch.

Sensei told us that next week he was going in search of another student. I'm still not sure what I'll think of the new person when he comes, but he can't be any worse than Jay!

Dear Diary,

Yesterday, Zane arrived. He is…different it seems. Already me and Jay have found that he has a horrible sense of humor, and he doesn't seem to understand certain emotions very well. I'll try my best to help him fit in. Maybe I'll invite him to join in a video game competition.

Dear Diary,

I can't believe that Zane didn't know what a video game was! He hinted at growing up in an isolated area, but I noticed something.

I knew from Jay that his parents owned a junkyard and that I myself stated that my mom was dead, and I wasn't on the best terms with my dad. Zane didn't mention his family. It made me wonder what could have happened to them.

Jay must have thought the same thing, so being as talkative as he is, he asked Zane about it. All Zane said was he didn't know who his family was or where he came from. Apparently, Zane had woken up on a road near a village with no memory except his name.

Just as I observed sometime back, when out of his Gi's, Zane tends to wear white or light gray. I guess we each have our favorite colors.

It was Zane's turn to cook tonight, and his food is the best! He is an amazing cook and we all agree that Zan should cook more often.

Dear Diary,

I was watching out of the corner of my eye as Zane trained today. He seems quite determined and focused when practicing the moves that me and Jay had taught him. Zane seems to have chosen two shurikens as his main weapon.

All of our skills have been improving, and Sensei says that we may soon go on our first mission. I admit that though it is exiting, I am also nervous. I will have to lead my team, and I fear that I am not ready for this yet…

I will be doing Kai in the next chapter, but in the meantime let me know what you think. Also, I will be unable to update for the next week because I'm going on vacation with my family, but I decided to update this so as not to keep you guys waiting. Please review and let me know what you think of it.
