It was a nice beautiful Sunday morning, birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and I was headed towards my friend's, Mark's, house. Oh, allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Cayden. I'm your average 17 year old teenager who's into gaming, anime, the works. I have regular black hair, golden-yellow eyes, a green t-shirt, and blue slacks jeans.
Anyway, my life has always been a bit of a regular one. Sometime's TOO regular to the point of boring. Little did I know that would soon change today…
As I neared Mark's house, I could recall how we first met. The two of us weren't very social with others and we were usually ostracized for imagining 'outlandish' stuff as they said.
So anyway, I was just listening to some of the latest music from RWBY when I heard someone begin to sing along next to me. That's pretty much how the two of us met. We easily bonded due to our similar likes of RWBY. As long as I had Mark for a friend, not much mattered anymore to me. The world could've turned against us for all I cared, but yea. Suffice to say, our friendship was one in a million. And I treasured it like no other.
As I stepped ever closer to Mark's porch, I suddenly felt an extreme chill go down my spine… Like a sign of things to come.
I then opened the door and what I saw surprised the heck outta me. His eyes were unique as always, but now his eyes were slit and triangular, unlike his usual normal crimson/emerald heterochromia eyes. I could also sense a unique aura coming off of them…
I could only stare and ask, "This is a prank right, Mark?"
Mark blinked, then frowned for a moment, and responded with, "What? I haven't planned a prank for today at all, and we both know how mischievous I can be sometimes, anyway, come on in! Did you remember to bring your Xbox remote, like we discussed?"
I shrugged and conceded that he DID have a point. I had always gone on some wild shenanigans with him due to his crazy but effective pranks. We always got a good laugh too. So I gave him a quick bro-hug as I like to call it, and replied, "Yeah of course! I was just taken aback by something. Must've been me overthinking. Anyway, here," I then showed him the Xbox Remote Control like he wanted me to and we both gave each other big grins that would make DC Comic's The Joker proud.
"Awesome, now we can play RWBY Grimm Eclipse together, now, I've already beaten it a few times, so I'm willing to walk you through it and how it works." Mark said.
I gave a huge sigh of relief and replied, "Oh thank you Mark, you lifesaver you!" I again acted all overdramatic, making Mark laugh. "And yes, I'd appreciate your knowledge Master. Consider me your Padawan/Apprentice."
"And I'm supposed to be the flashy one here, and did you really have to make that reference?" Mark said with a grin.
I gave him a deadpan look and said, "Dude c'mon! Star Wars fan forever here. Whoever isn't is insane to the highest degree. Anyway, it's always been a part of my geeky charm y'know that!"
Mark chuckled, "Whoa dude, I never said I hated the series, I just don't like the first three movies."
I sighed dramatically and then shrugged, "We're gonna have to work on your taste in movies My Apprentice!" I laughed.
Mark pouts, then leads me to his TV, where he turned the Xbox One S on. I could only look at the console in amazement. This was my first time in a long while playing the system. I only had the previous generation. Guess that's also why Mark and I are buddies. We usually have what the other doesn't.
Mark signed in to his profile, then selected the RWBY Grimm Eclipse icon, but once it loaded, something strange began to happen, plus from the way Mark frowned, this was SO NOT supposed to happen.
I made a worried grunt when I saw his frown. "Is there something wrong dude?" I asked him.
Before Mark could even answer back to me, a strong pull of wind from a black hole of sorts burst free from the TV, attempting to suck us in.
I clenched my teeth while trying to hold on to something, and for once, I actually swore a storm. "WHAT THE HELL'S HAPPENING MARK?!" When I swear, it's rare but I felt it was justified this time.
"I HAVE NO IDEA, BUT I KNOW THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!" then, Mark had a thoughtful look appear on his face
"THEN DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON?!" I shouted back, slowly beginning to lose my grip.
"DID IT SOUND LIKE I DID? SORRY, BUT YOU KNOW HOW I AM WITH THESE THINGS! ANYWAY, HEAR ME OUT DUDE, I THOUGHT OF SOMETHING CRAZY JUST NOW."
I couldn't help but laugh while crying, "SHOULD I REALLY BE CONCERNED THIS TIME?!"
"MAYBE? I DON'T KNOW, BUT I FEEL LIKE WE SHOULD JUST LET GO!"
I suddenly had a crazy memory and was going to make a reference, but I decided not to. This was serious. And if we did die, I swore I'd haunt him with that reference then. "WHY DUDE?! ARE YOU MORE INSANE THAN USUAL?!
"I'M NOT, BUT I FEEL LIKE THAT: ONE, THIS THING WILL DESTROY THE HOUSE IF WE KEEP RESISTING, AND TWO, I THINK SOMETHING IS CALLING US FROM THE OTHER SIDE, IT ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE A CRY FOR HELP!"
I groaned and then replied back with both humor and seriousness, "YA KNOW IF WE DIE BECAUSE OF THIS, I'M GONNA HAUNT YOU FOR FOREVER! AND WHY DO YOU MAKE IT SOUND LIKE WE'RE GOING TO A VERY BAD PLACE?"
"I DON'T KNOW, BUT BRACE YOURSELF ONCE WE GO THROUGH WHAT I NOW SUSPECT TO BE A PORTAL TO ANOTHER DIMENSION!" Mark replied, looking serious.
I gave him a quick nod that I understood. I could only say one other thing before we headed into what would most likely change our very lives forever. "I GUESS I WASN'T SEEING THINGS WHEN I SAW YOUR EYES! WHAT ABOUT MINE THOUGH? THEY STILL NORMAL?" I couldn't be too sure, but I was really curious now due to these events happening.
"I'M NOT SURE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, BUT YOUR EYES LOOK SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT NOW THAT YOU'VE BROUGHT ATTENTION TO IT-"
It was at that moment, that we let go, and got sucked into a portal. I won't deny the two of us screamed like banshees.
Though Mark's was more like a cat. And I sounded like Goofy whenever he screams. Awkward…
OTHER SIDE OF THE DIMENSIONAL PORTAL
A lone figure was seen wandering through the Emerald Forest. This man was Ozpin, Headmaster of Beacon. He was simply looking through the Emerald Forest's cameras in order to evaluate which Grimm were there in case, otherwise Initiation would have to take place elsewhere. While he knew there was nothing better than real life experience, there was a thing such as leaving a MAJOR impact. The initiates would only be kids, and he'd at least like it to stay that way before they face the Darkness the world can hide.
In any case, as he was looking through the security cameras, a sudden surge of energy with a blinding flash of light blinded him while looking through the cameras. After rubbing his eyes, he could see the cameras had short circuited. Deciding to take a look at whatever could've caused such an event, we now get to where we are.
Ozpin gave a small hum in thought while analyzing the area. "Hmm...it was right around this area." He mentally mused to himself. "Something tells me the rules will change due to all this…" He then approached a small crater and lightly gasped at what lay before his eyes. Two teenagers lay in the crater, but what was off about them, was that they had signs of a type of Faunus long thought to have been extinct...
'Ugh, did someone get the number of the truck that hit me?' I thought to myself, I'm well aware of what just happened, thanks to an interesting conversation I had just had with the FREAKING God of Light. It was too bad Cayden was unconscious during our talk.
Speaking of which, it looks like I regained consciousness first. So I try to wake Cayden up. "C'mon dude! You have to get up, it's not safe here!" I say while shaking him.
Cayden stirred for a moment before falling asleep again. I could only sigh until suddenly a voice rang out waking him up and nearly scaring me to death, I ended up jumping about as high as a cat would. "HE SAID TO WAKE THE HELL UP FLESHLING!"
Cayden's response was a shout of a surprise with a grouchy/sassy response. "WHAT THE HECK?! I don't recall setting an alarm clock with a booming voice installed!" He always liked to sleep in...
I could only sigh and reply with, "That's because that WASN'T an alarm clock doofus, that was the bugging Fell Dragon Grima!"
Cayden gave me a look before calmly saying, "I'm still dreamin huh? G'night." And attempted to fall asleep again.
"Don't you dare Fleshling! If you want proof so badly, then the both of you should look at your right hands!"
Cayden groaned and gave me a look. I nodded and we did as instructed. Of course, I already knew about this, thanks to my talk with the God of Light , but Cayden WAS unconscious, so he had to catch up a bit.
The both of us (I only looked in order to give the illusion of not yet knowing) at our individual right hands and there it was. The famous Fell Brand from Fire Emblem Awakening. A brand which 'marked' the person as the Vessel of the Fell Dragon itself.
Cayden looked long and hard at the mark and gave another over dramatic sigh. He then said "Okay, this isn't a dream then. So? Where the hell are we since this isn't likely Earth."
"One, don't say that out loud, we are being watched. Two, try not to freak out here, but based on the trees around here, I'd say that we are in the Emerald Forest.
Cayden didn't freak out like I first thought he would. Instead, he gave a calculating look around him. I usually dubbed this as his 'serious mode'. He then said, "I can see where you're going with this. If that's true, does that mean we're here due to...that game?" He made sure to sound vague at the end there, heeding my advice that we were being watched.
"Possibly, but for now we should probably address the Prof. over there. Oh, and also, pick up your weapon, I already have mine, along with my Jeweled Pendant."
Cayden looked to his side and saw another Jeweled Pendant along with the blade he always liked, Zangetsu from Bleach. He picked them up and from what I could tell, felt a rush of energy from the two items.
As for the blade that I had picked up? When unsheathed, it looked like it had a theme of a mixture between light and darkness, so I dubbed it as Nirvana, after the walking city in Fairy Tail. I could tell it held a hidden power, but I could also tell that I was a ways away from unlocking it.
Cayden then stood up and his eyes briefly blanked out for a bit before suddenly changing his pupils' shape. It went from a normal looking pupil to something akin of a serpent or reptile, maybe a dragon. He then looked at me and said, "Looks like my blade has informed me of what I missed bud. Although it seems that it also told me of my Semblance. To make it easier for me, I'm gonna name this blade Muramasa."
"Ah, sounds good, anyway on that note, our clothes have changed, along with our eyes and ears as well, I think we're wearing Robin's tactician coat." After a moment, I smirked. "Oh, I am so going to have a lot of fun with my semblance, once we get our aura unlocked of course, but anyway, I think we have kept the Professor waiting." I also noticed that both of our original hair colors had also changed just like our clothing had. It was a light baby blue color, similar to Azura's hair from Fire Emblem Fates. I decided it wasn't too major to mention, so I simply looked about but then frowned due to something I had immediately sensed, "Hm...it seems we might also have extra company very soon if we wait any longer."
Cayden gave me a small concerned look, before realization dawned on his face. He then mouthed to me. "Grimm?" He questioned.
I gave him a quick nod, we then made our way over to where I felt Professor Ozpin.
PROF. OZPIN POV
As I noticed the two Manakete Faunus (for that was what they were once known as) gather their belongings along with assessing the situation, I could not help but give a small smile. This...would definitely turn the tide. Now, there may actually be some hope.
Before I could ponder more, I soon sensed them. The Grimm. It would appear 'The Queen' has sent quite the scouting party. I guess there's no time like the present for a teacher/future student bonding activity!
As Mark and I were heading over to where he last sensed Professor Ozpin, I began to think on everything that has happened so far. It still blows me away that we are now in Remnant and are actually making a BIG impact on the world if what my intuition tells me is correct. I also couldn't help but think how oddly ironic what my Semblance was. I had some concerns, I will say that much, but they could wait. For now, even though they lack a soul, I could still feel the beating pulse of the Grimms' hearts. It was unlike ANY type of heartbeat though. It gave off a sense of nothingness, despair, and the desire to simply DESTROY. I knew it was best to retract my senses lest I become overwhelmed.
I then looked to Mark and said, "We're nearly there. I can sense multiple dark heartbeats ahead." I informed him.
In response to this information, Mark (and myself) drew his blade. As I brought out mine, I gave a small shudder as I could practically feel how my blade wanted to kill the dark beasts. I was fine with that, but if it came to killing a human, I'd have to restrain it's bloodthirst.
At least two packs of Beowolves approached us with their Alpha snarling and even drooling in hunger and lust for what we might taste like. I could feel myself get serious. I would NOT be on the menu today. The predator would become the prey. Muramasa seemingly agreed as it vibrated in my hands with anticipation.
A group of Beowolves had surrounded Mark, but with a quick flourish of his blade, stabbed it into the ground, and shouted, "Divine Expiration!" and a bunch of Thorned Shadowy Tendrils pierced those nearby, only to then blow the victims up in a burst of light. Mark then smirked, "That all you got?"
Not wanting to be left out, I concentrated and let my instincts guide me. I swiftly moved through the two packs, beheading any Beowolf foolish enough to get in my way; all with my eyes closed and my blade still hungry for more of their corpses.
By the time we had cleaned out the pack, it seems that Ozpin had already gotten to take care of the Alpha, how curious.
The two of us sheathed our weapons. My blade didnt have one, but it used the black particles of the dead Grimm to make one. I found it to be fitting. Kind of like how a hunter takes a trophy of the beasts that they had killed.
Ozpin then approached us and said with a small smile. "I must say that this is quite the interesting turn of fate. I'm Professor Ozpin and I would like to formally bring you both over to Beacon Academy. If you'll follow me?" He asked kindly, yet still on guard to be safe.
Mark then spoke up, speaking respectfully to him in order not to appear threatening. "Yes, of course, lead the way."
Ozpin smiled and gestured for us to follow. I didn't know what was in store, but for once, I'm glad that I didn't. This would be memorable all the same!
To Be Continued
Antex - TLZ: Well now, it seems we said we'd do it, and voila! Here it is!
Mark The Gamer of Grima: Yep! I bet you guys weren't expecting for this to appear so fast after my own chapter came out!
Antex - TLZ: Even I was surprised to say the least, but once the ideas started flowing, we were on a writing streak! WHOOP!
Mark The Gamer of Grima: If any of you guys are worried about our other fics, don't worry, we are still going to work on them! We just couldn't take anymore time away from this idea, we HAD to make it!
Antex - TLZ: Agreed. Who knows when we'd find the time to do so again? Right?
Grima: I still can't believe you Fleshlings talked me into doing this...
Mark The Gamer of Grima: Shut up Grima, no one asked you! X3
Antex - TLZ: Yea dude. Take a chill pill. Or is your title all for show? Prove that you're what you say you are for Oum's sake!
Grima: WHAT?! Alright then, fine. We shall settle this in the next chapter!
Antex - TLZ: I'll need to play Duel of the Fates when that happens! Lol.
Mark The Gamer of Grima: Wow... Anyway, we hope you guys enjoyed this, and see you next chapter!
Antex - TLZ: Until next time ya'll!
P.S. (In case any of you are confused on why I named Zangetsu as Muramasa, it has something to do with my Semblance. No spoilers though. I'm sure you can at least take a guess if you look online about the name I put)
