Chapter 1: Time Crash
Before any of you readers asked, this is not related to The Many Dates Multiverse. This is my own pet project I wanted to do. So enjoy.
It all started with a BANG.
Tegan Jovanka was wandering around the white corridors of the TARDIS while it was drifting through the time vortex when it happened. She usually walks around the long calming hallways of the TARDIS to clear her head usually after an adventure especially her recent mental experience with the Mara again and their rather harrowing adventure against Ruath and her vampire allies.
As she was pondering to herself as she passed the library on whether the Doctor had freed her from the Mara once and for all. When suddenly a huge bang echoed the hallway and the impact of whatever the TARDIS had hit was so strong that it knocked Tegan off her feet.
Tegan was wondering what had caused the impact as the cloister bells echoed throughout the time machine, now Tegan knew the impact was serious.
Suddenly Nyssa's voice yelled Tegan's name out of concern. Nyssa then came around the corner of the hallway in front of Tegan. Tegan then said "Do you know what the TARDIS hit Nyssa?".
"No", Nyssa said, "But we better go the console room and see if the Doctor needs our help."
As they began walking towards the counsel room and as white walls of the hallways turned into a brownish coral like stuff, as if the TARDIS had merged with another vessel. They then heard the Doctor's voice, but also an another voice as well that sounded English as well as both voices said what several times.
"Oh, brilliant. I mean, totally wrong. Bit emergency, universe goes bang in five minutes, but, brilliant." the Other voice said.
"I'm the Doctor. Who are you?" the Doctor's voice said.
"Yes, you are. You are the Doctor."
"Yes, I am. I'm the Doctor."
"Oh, good for you, Doctor. Good for brilliant old you."
"Is there something wrong with you?"
When Nyssa and Tegan reached the counsel room it had also changed with the strange coral like stuff on the walls with several arch stretching out, but the round things were still there. At the center of the new counsel room was the Doctor (who now looked older as if he was in his fifties in human terms) and another man who was dressed in a blue two-piece suit, both facing each other.
"Oh, there it goes, the frowny face. I remember that one. Mind you, bit saggier than I ought to be. Hair's a bit grayer. That's because of me, though. The two of us together has shorted out the time differential. Should all snap back in place when we get you home." the Other said.
It was at this that the two figures noticed the companions.
"Ah, Nyssa and Tegan good see you again." the Other said in an excited voice, "Haven't seen you two in centuries."
"What are you talking about?" the Doctor said, "And how do know my companions?"
"C'mon Doctor." The Other said in a cheerful voice, "I've dropped the hints, isn't it obvious."
"Shut up!" the Doctor yelled, "There is something very wrong with my Tardis, and I've got to do something about it very, very quickly, and it would help, it really would help if there wasn't some skinny idiot ranting in my face about every single thing that happens to be in front of him!"
"Oh. Okay. Sorry. Doctor." the Other said.
"Thank you." the Doctor said. He turned to inspect the console.
"Oh, the back of my head." the Other said.
"What?" the Doctor said confused.
"Sorry, sorry. It's not something you see every day, is it, the back of your own head. Mind you, I can see why you wear a hat. I don't want to seem vain, but could you keep that on?" the Other said.
Nyssa and Tegan then knew exactly who the Other was, having seen the regeneration of the previous bohemian Doctor and that one time a while back when Adric was still alive, they met a future Doctor and his two companions Chris and Roz on that ice planet.
"What have you done to my Tardis? You've changed the desktop theme, haven't you. What's this one, coral?" the Doctor said.
"Well…" the Other said.
"It's worse than the leopard skin." the Doctor said.
Nyssa giggled remembering that incident a while back. Tegan was dumbfounded, having taken a break from traveling in the TARDIS when that incident occurred.
"I'll explain the leopard skin incident later." Nyssa said to Tegan.
The Doctor then put on his glasses.
"Oh, and out they come, the brainy specs. You don't even need them. You just think they make you look a bit clever." the Other said.
Nyssa then realized that the Doctor had no idea who the Other really was and thought it would be best to tell him
"Doctor, he's…" Nyssa said, but she was interrupted by an alarm on the console that went off.
The Doctor then went to the console and said, "That's an alert, level five, indicating a temporal collision. It like two Tardises have merged, but there's definitely only one Tardis present."
"No kidding." Tegan said sarcastically.
The Doctor then continued as he worked on the console, "It's like two time zones or more at the heart of the Tardis. That's a paradox that could blow a hole in the space time continuum the size of…"
The Other then moved a monitor attached to the console in front of the Doctor, who was then unimpressed with the results shown.
"Well, actually, the exact size of Belgium. That's a bit undramatic, isn't it? Belgium?" the Doctor said.
Tegan couldn't help but giggle at the size of space time ending hole, while Nyssa, coming from an alien planet, was dumbfounded having no idea what Belgium is.
The Other then offered the Doctor a grey rod with a blue tip and said, "Need this?"
"No, I'm fine." the Doctor said.
"Oh no, of course, you liked to go hands free, didn't you, like hey, I'm the Doctor. I can save the universe using a kettle and some string. And look at me, I'm wearing a vegetable." the Other said.
"Who are you?" the Doctor said.
"For gods sake Doc, he's a future you." Tegan yelled having also figured out the Other's identity as well.
"Really, he can't be me, because I always leave the shields on the TARDIS up. Not to mention this… umm… talkative." the Doctor said.
"Well, actually. The TARDIS, my TARDIS that is, was recently mucked about by the Master and I was rebuilding it." the Future Doctor said.
The Doctor decided not to ask his future self on how the Master had got hold of the TARDIS.
"Is he still in my father's body?" Nyssa asked.
"Or that rubbish beard?" Tegan said.
"Uh, no on Tremas's body or the beard, he's got a wife now though." the Future Doctor said.
"Dear god." Tegan said, feeling sorry for whoever got married to that monster. If she was in that position she would rather shoot the Master dead rather than marry him.
"Anyway, while rebuilding I forgot to put the shields back up causing my TARDIS to slam into your TARDIS." the Future Doctor said.
The Doctor just rolled his eyes when suddenly the Cloister Bells began ringing.
"Right on time. That's my cue." the Future Doctor said as he went to the counsel and started pressing some control levers along with his younger counterpart.
The Doctor, who was now worried, yelled, "In a minute we're going to create a black hole strong enough to swallow the entire universe!"
"Don't you worry, I know exactly how this all works out. Watch." the Future Doctor said in a calm determined voice, "Venting the thermobuffer, drawing the Helmic regulator, and just to finish off, let's fry those Zeiton crystals."
"You'll blow up the Tardis." the Doctor said.
Nyssa then decided to walk up to the consul to help. She pressed a few switches and levers on the console.
But then, the Future Doctor raised his hand and said, "Nyssa trust me on this. Like you did the previous times your life depended on it. I know what I'm doing."
"How do you know that for sure?" Nyssa asked.
"You both did."
Then everything went briefly white.
"Supernova and black hole at the exact same instant." the Doctor said as the whiteness faded.
"The explosion cancels out the implosion." the Future Doctor said.
"Pressure remains constant."
"Far too brilliant." the Doctor said, "You didn't have time to work all that out. Even I couldn't do it."
"I didn't work it out. I didn't have to." the Future Doctor said.
"Because you will remember."
"You remembered being me watching you doing that. You already knew what to do because I saw you do it."
"Wibbly wobbly…" the Future Doctor said.
"Timey wimey!" both Doctors said, with Nyssa having a good understanding of what happened while Tegan's head was spinning all over.
A weird siren-like sound entered the room. The Future Doctor knew what that meant.
"Right, Tardises are separating. Sorry, Doctor, Nyssa, and Tegan, time's up. Back to long ago." the Future Doctor said. "Where are you three now? Cybermen and Mara and Time Lords in funny hats and the Master? Already mentioned him in my time."
"Well I was possessed by the Mara a couple of trips ago." Tegan said.
"And I was briefly turned into a vampire during our last visit to Earth." Nyssa said.
Both the Doctor and his companions began to fizzle.
"Oh, we seem to be off. What can I say? Thank you, Doctor." the Doctor said.
"Thank you." the Future Doctor said.
"Your very welcome."
Then the Future Doctor began to vanish and console room returned back to its normal plain and white look. Then it went back to the coral look with the older Doctor appearing once again.
"You know, I love being you, Doctor." the Future Doctor said, "Back when I first started at the very beginning, I was always trying to be old and grumpy and important, like you do when you're young. And then I was you, and it was all dashing about and playing cricket and my voice going all squeaky when I shouted. I still do that, the voice thing. I got that from you. Oh, and the trainers, and…" As but his foot on the console, showing off his convert, and as well as putting his brainy specs on. "Snap. Because you know what, Doctor? You were my Doctor. Nyssa you were one of my brightest companions even with all the hardships you had to endure, especially the loss of your home world. As well you Tegan, you had to deal with things that some human beings can not handle especially losing your aunt, but you know what. Brave heart, Tegan."
"To days to come." the Doctor said.
"All my love to long ago." the Future Doctor said.
The two companions simply smiled at the Future Doctor.
Then the Future Doctor vanished and the console room returned to normal.
The Doctor then said, "Oh, Doctor, remember to put your shields up."
The sound of a fog horn caused everyone to jump. Then suddenly the white wall of the TARDIS console room was split in two when the front bow of a ship punctured the wall of the TARDIS causing the Doctor and his companions to fall off their feet. The bell of ship rang throughout the console room as the trio looked flabbergast.
"Doc." Tegan said as she got up, "How can a ship from Earth puncture the TARDIS? Doctor? You said that it was impenetrable."
But wasn't the Doctor wasn't listening. Instead he focused on a life belt and saw one word.
The Doctor then said, "Oh dear."
So yeah, my first Doctor Who fic, hope you enjoyed it.
Anyway I decided to place the 5th Doctor in his timeline based on eyespider's website, which for the 5th Doctor is between the Classic Who TV stories "Snakedance" and "Mawdryn Undead".
I also made references to two Virgin Missing Adventures novels "Goth Opera" and "Cold Fusion". I put in another expanded universe reference, see if you can spot it.
Stay safe in these trying times.
