Chapter 3: Home, I think?

[Where we left off]

The unbearable sound of silence once again swept through Narumi's mind like a bad dream you couldn't wake up from. A bad dream that was never-ending and suffocating the very air from your lungs. She could barely breathe as it burned every time to do so. She couldn't move because of how bruised and battered and torn her muscles were. She couldn't open her eyes because of how exhausted she was from lack of sleep or proper meals. Everything hurt and yet something was slowly feeding into her. Something sharp in her arm and something soft on her back. Despite the pain she was in, Narumi willed her eyes open and hoped and prayed that her struggles bore at least a rotten fruit of some kind. She opened her eyes and the first thing she noticed was bright lights shining down on her. She quickly closed them and tried to move her body as best as she could only for her to realize that she felt too heavy to do so, but something was different now. She remembered laying on grass before losing consciousness beforehand, yet now it felt like she was laying on a bed. A comfortable bed. The first in who knows how long. Did that mean that it worked? Did the seal bring them all back? Was she really in the past now and could change the future? Someone had to have brought her here and the familiar feel of this place and her current situation felt like a hospital room she was used to. Summoning any strength she could muster and hoping for a best-case scenario, Narumi forced her eyes open and to adjust to the invasive lights above her. All she could see was a hospital room that looked clean and well maintained from the looks of the ceiling at least.

"Oh." A male voice started from one side of the room. "Seems like you're awake somewhat." Narumi tried to look to who said that, once more hoping that it wasn't her mind playing tricks on her. "Whoa there." The man started again as He saw Narumi try and turn her head towards him. "You're still heavily injured and malnourished. You should rest some more and let the I.V. do its thing miss."

She did it. She actually did it. Here was a person before for the first time in weeks and they seemed to be oblivious to what had transpired with the Infinite Tsukiyomi. She had done it, now all she needed to do was rest up and heal so she could deal with Obito and the Akatsuki once and for all.

[Hokage tower]

"Let me get this straight." A tall blond man wearing a white coat with red flames at the bottom of it spoke as he sat at his desk. This man was the fourth Hokage of Konoha, Minato Namikaze. "Are you telling me that this girl that you found injured not too far away from our village had self-inflicted chakra burns on her arms, and that she may have been able to utilize chakra herself?"

Standing in front of him were all four members of team 7. His own son Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze. One of the few remaining male Uchiha with the sharingan, Sasuke Uchiha. Tsunade's second apprentice and one of the best field medics of his generation, Sakura Haruno. And finally, their team leader and his former student, Kakashi Hatake. They had just returned from their mission and now this sudden rescue of a red-haired girl.

When they had arrived, Naruto had used a shadow clone to take the girl to the hospital while the rest of the team went to make their report to the Hokage. Once they finished, it was Sakura that explained their one extra and just what was wrong with her. At first, Minato simply listened to the pink-haired boy's explanation and simply nodded his head. Clearly this girl had been tortured by some sick shinobi of some kind or even experimented on by the likes of Danzo or worse, Orochimaru. What really caught him off guard was when Sakura explained the chakra burns on her arms. At first, it sounded like she was introduced to the burns by some outside force, but once it was explained that the wounds were self-inflicted was when Minato looked to him with widened eyes.

"As far as I can tell Lord Hokage," Sakura continued, "I think so."

"But that should be impossible." Sasuke started as he couldn't understand it at all. "I thought the only woman that was able to use chakra was the mother of all chakras herself."

"That's right." Naruto continued as he looked to his father. "I mean, wasn't she part of some sort of clan that's been long extinct for centuries now?"

Minato nodded to his son. "That's true, but from the description of this girl along with the red hair, it sounds more like she's an Uzumaki than anything else."

Just as he said those words, the doors to the room burst open to reveal a slender man with long red hair, an angular face, violet eyes, and wearing a green apron along with a white shirt and black shorts. He was panting heavily almost like he had ran for miles to get here and looked to the Hokage who looked to him with a wary eye, same as everyone else in the room.

"K-Kushina?" Minato stuttered out as he saw the man smile towards him. "W-What are you doing here?"

"From what I've heard," the now named Kushina started as he regained his composure, "was that there was an Uzumaki in the hospital right now." He marched over towards the now cowering Minato and walked past team 7. He slammed his hands down on the desk hard that it actually cracked the wood and stared straight at Minato. "Is that true Minato-Koi?"

Minato knew how much the Uzumaki clan meant to Kushina and how much he loved his family. When word dropped that there was a very little amount of Uzumaki's around the Elemental Nations after the Purge, Kushina was an emotional wreck for days. It was bittersweet that so many of his clan had perished and now only a small handful were still out there, so the idea that an Uzumaki was here now caused the man to be beyond excited.

"Well," Minato started in a nervous tone. "It may be true, but right now she's recovering from many injuries and malnourishment."

That was all Kushina needed to hear as he made his way out the open window and straight towards the hospital. Everyone in the room sighed in exasperation and could only feel slightly sorry for the girl now.
