A/N: This is my first fanfiction! It's going to be multi-chapter, and I will upload a new chapter at least once a week. I'll most likely end up posting chapters more often than that, but I can promise at least one chapter a week! Please leave a review! Constructive criticism is welcome, as well as things that you liked about it!
Percy P.O.V.
A quiet contentment spread through Percy as he studied Annabeth's face. He loved the way her eyes would light up every time she talked about something she loved. Right now, it was her designs for Mount Olympus. After the war, Percy and Annabeth had finished their senior year at Goode together, and would soon be headed to Camp Jupiter to attend one of the colleges in New Rome. Annabeth was just putting the final touches on her plans for redesigning Olympus, and his girlfriend, being the workaholic she is, decided to take on another huge project: New Athens. Annabeth wanted to make a second safe place for demigods so that they might be able to stay closer to family. Percy and Annabeth planned on moving to New Athens together once they graduated from college. Currently, they were at the airport, waiting to board their plane to California. Percy and Annabeth were planning on stopping by Annabeth's family's house for a quick visit before they went to Camp Jupiter.
Ever since the Giant War ended, everything had been oddly peaceful. Percy was still waiting for the next world-ending event to start. After all, the Fates seemed to really hate Percy. What was his name? The idiot that turned down immortality? Ah, yes, Peter Johnson. Hmm? Oh yeah, Percy Jackson. We should try extra hard to make his life as miserable as possible! But surprisingly, he and Annabeth had only seen the usual monster attacks, which happened about once or twice a month. This was more than most demigods had to deal with, since Percy, being a child of the Big 3, apparently had a stronger scent. (Annabeth called it his troublemaking tendency). But thankfully, the monster attacks would stop once they arrived at Camp Jupiter.
TIME SKIP
Percy and Annabeth were now on their flight to California. Percy wasn't too afraid of being blasted out of the sky for a couple reasons. First, Annabeth had her plans for Olympus with her, and even Zeus wouldn't dare to mess with Annabeth's blueprints. Secondly, it seemed that a side effect of falling into Tartarus was that Percabeth, as the Aphrodite kids called them, was now the camp's OTP, which basically meant that they were the demigod equivalent of celebrities. So, unless Zeus wanted a cabin full of angry, makeup-wielding, demigods after his life, he would leave Percabeth alone. So, in summary, rather than Percy's usual I-feel-close-to-peeing-in-my-pants level of fear, it was now a moderate holding-on-to-my-armrests-for-dear-life sort of fear.
Percy was brought back to the present by a stinging sensation on his shoulder. He clutched his shoulder, looked at Annabeth with theatrical betrayal, and slumped forward in his seat. He gasped dramatically and whispered, "How could you! Quick someone call 9-1-1! I'm bleeding out! I need medical attention!"
Annabeth just rolled her eyes, playing along, "Oh no! Let me guess, the magical cure is blue cookies?"
"Precisely!"
Annabeth gave a long-suffering sigh as she took out the Ziploc bag full of blue cookies that Sally had provided. "You're insufferable," she groaned, but handed him a cookie anyways.
"But you love me!" He exclaimed proudly, sounding like a 5-year old. Annabeth just rolled her eyes again, before leaning over to brush a kiss on his cheek. By the time she withdrew, Percy had already devoured his cookie. "So, what did I do to deserve being slapped?"
"I called your name, but you didn't respond. I just wanted to let you know that we'll be landing in a couple minutes." Annabeth explained, sounding a little annoyed.
"Okay, but I don't really see why the slapping was necessary. I mean, you could have just tapped my shoulder or something."
Annabeth rolled her eyes again. She seemed to be doing that a lot today. Actually, she did that a lot in general. "You got a cookie out of it, didn't you? I'm sure you'll live"
They went on like this until the plane landed, just playfully bantering. This was one of the many things Percy loved about Annabeth. Being with her, talking to her, it was all so natural and carefree. They were boyfriend and girlfriend, but they acted more like best friends most of the time, and Percy liked it this way. They understood each other and loved each other. He didn't feel like their relationship was delicate or breakable, like how most relationships are. He knew that she would always love him no matter what, and he would always love her.
Percy was snapped out of his thoughts yet again when his ears popped as the plane descended. He tried to look like he'd been listening to what Annabeth was saying. After all, he didn't want to be slapped again! He had a feeling that this time he wouldn't get a cookie.
"…so now they're all arguing on where to put the statue! Like, every other day, some angry god Iris Messages me, demanding that a statue of them should be in the middle of Olympus!"
"Wait," Percy asked, slightly confused, "I thought you were almost done with the designs?"
"Yeah, but now everyone wants to change everything!"
"That's stupid!" Percy said, putting his arm around Annabeth in what he hoped was a comforting way, "They asked you to redesign Olympus. You should get the final say on these kinds of things. If they want a statue of themselves in the middle of Olympus, they should design Olympus themselves!" The sky rumbled. Zeus clearly didn't like what Percy had said.
Annabeth sighed. "Unfortunately, I have a hunch that if you told that to Zeus, he wouldn't be too happy, if the rumbling was any indication. It's especially not a good idea to say things like that on an airplane…"
"Good point." Percy said a little shakily. Annabeth chuckled as Percy removed his arm from where it was currently resting on her shoulders, so that he could go back to clutching the armrest in a death grip like he previously was. Percy sent Annabeth a glare for her chuckle, but it was ruined by the hints of fear evident on his face. Thankfully, they would be landing any minute now. Percy really hated flying!
