The last chapter! I hope you like it, please let me know what you think! While writing this, I listened to my favourite playlist again (Adam Lambert, of course!). The first song has been 'I Knew You Were Waiting For Me', covered by Adam Lambert and Cynthia Erivo. It's also mentioned in this chapter with Kurt and Blaine singing it. Listen to it while you're reading, it's awesome!

I've decided to finish this story now and I'm sorry that it isn't longer. However, it felt right to end it here. I could write a sequel about them being in New York together, but I don't think that I'll do that in the near future. My life keeps me busy and there are still so many other stories going on!

I don't own the characters, lyrics or places!

"This is it." Kurt said and breathed in deeply. "The big day." He looked in the mirror and checked his appearance again.

"Stop worrying, you look perfect." Someone behind his back said and Kurt chuckled softly. He didn't have to turn around to know who it was.

"What took you so long?" He asked and turned around to face Blaine. Just to inhale sharply and stare at him wide-eyed.

Blaine grimaced. "It's horrible, isn't it? I already told the girls that this was too much, but they wouldn't listen!" He crossed his arms in front of his chest, something he always did when he wasn't feeling well in a situation. "Maybe I should just wash it off again. When I'm fast enough -"

"Alright, stop this." Kurt took a step towards Blaine and wrapped his arms around him. "You look beautiful, Blaine."

"Even when my hair's literally glued to my head?" Blaine muttered unhappily. "Rachel said on a day like this I just couldn't go out there with all my curls, but this is horrible!"

Kurt smiled softly. "Yes, you're always beautiful." He leaned in to kiss Blaine softly. "But I really need to talk to Rachel later. She'll pay for this."

This made Blaine's face light up again. "What do you have in mind?"

He grinned mischievously. "Just wait and see. It will be great."

"I hope she won't repeat this. Especially when we're going to live with her soon."

Kurt laughed. "I'll make sure that she doesn't do this again, don't worry. And if everything goes as planned, we won't be living with her for too long."

"Your plan is depending on Finn, so it might as well go wrong." Blaine didn't sound convinced.

Kurt rolled his eyes. "You have so little faith in my family."

"For a reason." Blaine replied.

"Alright, that's true, but in the past months, dad and Finn always behaved around you. They even like you!" He emphasized.

"Guys, stop talking and come on!" Mercedes called loudly. "We have to go! We're the next ones!"

Kurt smiled at Blaine. "Are you ready?"

Blaine breathed in deeply and nodded. "If someone would have told me that I'd be singing a duet with my boyfriend at Nationals this year, I would have said that they're crazy as hell."

"You would have also told them to screw themselves." Kurt added lightly when they walked through the corridor to where the others were waiting. This conversation helped him to forget his own nervousness.

Blaine chuckled. "Most probably."

When the others saw Blaine's appearance, they only raised their eyebrows, but no one said anything. Kurt was glad about it. They didn't need that right now. They were all nervous enough.

"I know that you will be awesome!" Mr. Schue said loudly. "Just remember to have fun! Then everything will be fine." He grinned widely when the New Directions were announced as the next group to perform.

"Oh my god, you two were so great!" Rachel said the next morning. "I still can't believe it! I knew that it was a great song, but you nailed it!"

Kurt chuckled. "Don't exaggerate, Rachel. We could never beat the original."

"But we were good." Blaine said with a wide smile. "We won."

"Because Rachel sang that song of Celine Dion like a champ." Kurt threw in.

Rachel shook her head. "We won because 'I Knew You Were Waiting For Me' was that good, I'm sure of that."

"Could you stop discussing this?" Finn stepped behind Rachel and wrapped his arms around her. "We won, that's all that matters. And we still have one day in New York before we have to leave again."

Rachel laughed. "Soon, we'll have so many time here, this day is nothing compared to that."

"That's true." Kurt agreed with excitement. Their graduation was getting closer and then, Kurt, Blaine and Rachel would move to New York. Surprisingly, all of them had gotten a place at NYADA. The only thing which wasn't sure yet was if Finn would follow them. He wasn't sure what to do with his future yet. However, Rachel hoped that he would also search for something in New York. She already hated that she would be apart from her boyfriend otherwise. And if Finn came to New York, he and Rachel would search for an apartment on their own. Which would leave Kurt and Blaine living together on their own.

"So what are we going to do today?" Blaine asked while they left the hotel together. The others didn't want to join them on their trip through the city yet. Most of them were still asleep, as far as Kurt knew.

"What about sightseeing?" Rachel suggested. "The last time Kurt and I have been here, we went to Broadway."

"I hate sightseeing." Finn complained.

"Alright, so what do you want to do instead?" Soon, Rachel and Finn were arguing about their activities for the day.

Kurt glanced at Blaine. "Do you think they would notice if we just leave?"

"No." Blaine shook his head. "Let's do this!"

They disappeared in the crowd. When Rachel and Finn were out of sight, Kurt sent them a text and told them that they would meet again in the afternoon. Which left Kurt and Blaine alone for now, in the city they would call their home soon.

They walked hand in hand and ended up in Central Park. "Rachel's right." Blaine said suddenly.

"What do you mean?" Kurt asked with a frown.

"The performance. You were awesome." He smiled widely. "As always. I still remember the first time I saw you perform like it had been just yesterday."

Kurt grinned. "Weren't we singing 'You Can't Stop the Beat'?"

"In those ridiculous purple shirts, yes." Blaine laughed. "I didn't expect that you could sing like this back then."

"No one ever does." Kurt said simply. "But I also didn't think that you could sing back then."

"I was an ass, that's true." Blaine ran a hand through his hair. After lots of time in the shower the previous evening, all the hair gel was gone again. "I'm still sorry for that."

"I've told you that you should stop apologizing months ago." Kurt grimaced. "Don't let it become a habit, please."

Blaine smiled. "Promise." He leaned in and kissed Kurt. When he drew back, there was a thoughtful look on his face. "I'm so happy that we met. I really don't know where I would be without you."

"Still trying to tell the world that you're all bad and nothing can touch you?" Kurt guessed.

"You mean running away from myself." Blaine corrected him firmly. "That's what I've been doing all this time. You opened my eyes."

"It wasn't easy to convince you that you were being stupid." Kurt shook his head when he thought of the first times he'd talked to Blaine. "I really thought you were just going to vanish one day." Which he nearly had.

"You stopped me." Blaine reminded him.

"Barely." The uneasy feeling returned which always appeared in Kurt's stomach when he thought of the fact that Blaine could have also left him forever without him even noticing it. "I might have also not seen you at school that day. Then you would have been gone."

Of course Blaine heard the unhappiness in his voice and hugged him tightly. "Stop thinking about it. We're here together and I'll never leave you. That's all that matters."

Kurt smiled and after a few moments of looking into Blaine's eyes, he began to sing softly.

Have you lost your way?
Livin' in the shadow of the messes that you made
And so it goes
Everything inside your circle starts to overflow

Take a step before you leap
Into the colours that you seek
You give back what you give away
So don't look back on yesterday

Wanna scream out, no more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside
Gonna tell ya you'll be alright
In the aftermath

He sang the whole song and when he was done, Blaine had tears in his eyes. Suddenly, people around them were clapping and Kurt noticed that he had an audience. A few people had stopped to listen to him. He smiled shyly and when they realized that he wouldn't sing another song, they continued walking. A few of them smiled at him before they left.

"That was beautiful." Blaine whispered.

"I love you." Kurt said before he could stop himself. They'd been together for a few months by now, but they didn't tell each other this yet. Kurt's eyes widened when he realized what he'd done, but Blaine just smiled.

"I love you too, Kurt."

Blaine grabbed his shirt and pulled Kurt closer to kiss him.

"I can't wait to live with you." Blaine whispered.

He grinned. "Then let's hope that Rachel will move out soon!" He joked. "Otherwise, it could be really exhausting."

"Our room has a door and a key." Blaine said simply and grinned as well.

"Not soundproof." He threw in.

"Rachel sings all day. That won't be a problem." It was true, she liked to sing a lot.

"You know that we have to go back to Lima first. After all, we have to say goodbye to Mr. Schue." Kurt couldn't stop himself from feeling a little sad when he thought of this. His time at school was over. Soon, they would all go separate ways and he might not see his friends again for a long time.

"It's not forever." Blaine reminded him. "We'll come back as often as possible."

"That sounds good." Kurt agreed.

"I love you." Blaine whispered again.

Kurt smiled. "You know, back when we got to know each other, I really thought that I wasn't good for you." He noted.

Blaine raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Why? Shouldn't it have been the other way around?"

He shook his head. "You came to McKinley because you wanted the bullying to stop. It all started again because of me." He frowned. "Why did you think that you weren't good for me?"

"You had so much trouble with your family and friends." Blaine explained.

"But you saved me several times." Kurt said softly. "And you made me happy for the first time in years."

"That's my line!" Blaine muttered.

Kurt chuckled. "Come on, we should get going. Otherwise, the others will declare us missing soon and start a search."

"With lots of singing, I assume?"

Kurt nodded. "I think they would sing..." They discussed how a search party of the New Directions would look while they walked back to the hotel.

The end

The lyrics are from the song 'Aftermath' by Adam Lambert! It's one of my favourite songs because the message is so true! Especially the version of the Glam Nation tour was so good. It's what I tell myself every day. Believe in yourself, then you can do anything!

Please let me know what you thought of this story, that would be awesome! And thank you so much for reading it!
