3721) Why is Natsu OOC or an OC with Natsu's skin plastered on him?
This is by far THE MOST asked question in this story thus far and I will answer it for ONE final time. The main character of the story is Natsu Dragneel. Not an OC Natsu Dragneel, but THE Natsu Dragneel from the Fairy Tail series. He may seem OOC in certain chapters, but since the people LOVE to highlight Natsu from Chapter 1, let's just talk about that one then.
Natsu Dragneel is NOT OOC nor is he an OC with Natsu's name and skin plastered onto him.
Now, YOU might not remember this particular episode of Fairy Tail since it was only shown once in the entire series, but there was ONCE a period of time when Natsu was alone, sad and depressed.
He had NO FRIENDS and was ALONE.
No Lucy, no Gray or Erza and no Happy even.
This was still when Natsu was still new to the Fairy Tail guild and hadn't befriended anyone yet. It was only the moment when Lisanna came into his life, that he started being able to befriend others, such as Gildarts, Gray, Erza and later the others in the guild too. From that point onwards, we then know the Natsu Dragneel from what we see in the main series.
Now, is it wrong to use Natsu as a child as a reference to this?
Why would it be?
If anything, it reinforces the idea that when Natsu returns back to the state of mind, he basically would be like a child again.
But now I pose the question, what is the main difference between the Natsu there and Natsu then?
Since I can't hear your answers here, I'll just answer it.
His surroundings and the people around him.
Natsu is in a BRAND new world with NONE of his friends with him at this moment of time.
Now, think logically for a moment. Has there even been a period of time when Natsu was alone, without a single one of his friends up till the Edolas Arc?
I wouldn't think so.
In the Lullaby arc, he was on a mission with the rest of Team Natsu.
In the Deliora arc, he was alone on an island with the rest of his guildmates.
In the Phantom Lord arc, he was fighting with the rest of his guild against the Phantom Lord guild.
In the Tower of Heaven arc, same thing, was with Gray and the others to help Erza.
In the Fantasia Arc, nope, it was all between Fairy Tail members.
And in Edolas, where this story takes place after… was he alone?
No.
When Magnolia was sucked into the Anima, he was together with Happy, Wendy and Charles.
And, now what do we see in Chapter 1?
Natsu is ALONE and none of his friends are with him in this new world. With no knowledge of how to get back home.
He's stuck.
Obviously at that point he'd feel devastated (Heck, ANYONE would, doesn't matter who).
Everything he worked for, and all the people he knew in his life were more or less out of his reach.
So now, let me say this again. Has Natsu ever been alone and sad in the Fairy Tail series before? Yes, he has. Did I make Natsu completely OOC to the point he's unrecognisable? I don't think so, I believe that the way he bounces back at the end of Chapter 1 and onwards, Natsu is as normal as I've written him in my other Fairy Tail stories.
Is Natsu different because he's thinking more and etc? Yes, 1000%
Was it intentional? Yes again.
Is Natsu's maturity something essential for the story? Absolutely. Especially with what's to come from the next story arcs.
Is him being sad and depressed at the start of the story going to be a constant thing throughout the rest of the story? Absolutely not.
But if you all still want to believe that Natsu being all sad and depressed makes him an OC or OOC to the point you can't read the story, then by all means, you don't have to, as I'm writing for my enjoyment as well as for the people who DO appreciate my writing and for the ones who enjoy this story.
Just know that from here on out, I will no longer entertain ANY comments regarding Natsu being OOC or is an OC.
Phew… now we can finally move on to question two.
2) What Familia will Natsu join?
From Hestia, to Loki to Freya and even to the Miach Familia. Each of you have given your thoughts as to what Familia you want Natsu to be in.
And the answer remains the same.
He WILL be in a Familia before the events of Season 2 taking place, so you don't need to worry about that at all.
You may like it, you may not like it, but it's how I've written the story.
3) Why aren't there any other Fairy Tail characters in the story?
Okay, yet another popular question throughout the series that sparked some annoyance within the comment sections. Especially for those who wanted to see other Fairy Tail characters in here.
Now, as you all know, I usually plan out my stories before writing them, and from the very beginning I never once had the idea that any other character asides from Natsu should join him on this cross-world adventure.
The reason for that? Well, personally, in my opinion, I believe that the other characters of the series stunt Natsu's growth as a character.
Now, what I just said may cause people to retort or to flame me, but that's my genuine opinion.
I've been a fan of the Fairy Tail series ever since the anime first released, and as the series went on, I realised that Natsu's character more or less never changed from what he was at the start of the series.
While at most cases it's alright, but there are moments in time when Natsu annoyed the crap out of me. Especially during AND after the Tartaros arc.
If anything, the only time where I saw a semblance of character development in Natsu, would be the time he lost to Gildarts in the S-Class Advancement Exam. At that point, Natsu learned what it means to fear others and knows his own limits, and later when he utilised this lesson in order to overcome Hades, that became clear to me that Natsu had grown as a character.
Now, as I mentioned before, Natsu's maturity is something that's essential for the story, especially with what's to come in the next story arcs.
So, if I really had Lucy, Gray, Happy or Erza be here with Natsu, things would be very different from what I had planned. Perhaps it'd be better, or perhaps it'd be worse. Who knows, because at this point of time, I enjoy the story as what it is now, and if those of you believe that them making an appearance would be better, then I'd suggest writing your own story with them. There needs to be more Fairy Tail x DanMachi fanfics out there so I recommend writing your own!
