Hello readers, I am writing this to inform you that I have decided to update the first chapters of my fic since I was unsatisfied with their current state and it made them hard to read for newcomers.
The new is still in the works, but I have put it off for now to focus on this first, don't worry, it's still coming, just a little bit later than usual.
I hope that you understand my decision and that it might also give you an opportunity to re-read the first chapters in a new shade. I will leave an A/N at the beginning of any of the updated chapters.

Chapter 1: Arrival
2015 A.D.
Date: unknown
Damage to systems: critical
Location: Upper earth orbit
Report: crash imminent
Landing zone: Japan
ERROR… ERROR.. ERROR….
Tokyo 3
It was a normal day in Tokyo 3, the birds were singing, the flowers were blooming…
And a giant purple robot was about to fight against a floating blue diamond.
"Shinji are you ready?" yelled Misato, standing in Central dogma and looking at what the various screens showed.
"Yes, but once I'm up there what is it going to do?"
The boy asked while he sat in the comfortable seat of the entry plug surrounded by a strange liquid called LCL and wearing a skin tight suit that, no matter how he thought about it, made him embarrassed just at the thought of someone seeing him like that.
"We still don't know what it can do, so we'll deploy you at a good distance away from it so that you can 'test the waters' ok?"
And as the boy nodded she shouted: "EVA launch!".
Then Shinji felt himself thrown to the ground as the catapult elevated him and his 75 meters tall purple and green death machine from the geofront into the streets of Tokyo 3 where the fifth angel Ramiel was floating around.
Suddenly though various warning messages appeared on the screens of the command room as lieutenant Maya Ibuki said:
"Energy spike detected! It's coming from the angel!"
And so Misato said "Quickly Shinji! Take cover!"
"Huh?"
And before the boy's brain could process what was happening the geometric angel opened its middle section revealing its core and fired a powerful beam of energy at the eva, melting through its armor.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Shinji shouted because of the pain he was receiving through the evangelion given his synch rate of around 60%.
"Shit! Retreat! Pull the eva back inside!" Misato ordered, but Hyuga said
"We can't! The heat of the beam has fused the platform to the ground!
Even the emergency charges don't work!"
"Quickly deploy unit 00 with the thermal shield, unit 01's armor won't resist much longer!
Rei, when you reach Shinji your combined weight should be able to make the lift collapse, got that?"
"Affermative miss Katsuragi"
The blue haired girl replied as she grabbed the giant shield and got in position on her launch platform.
But then Ritsuko asked:
"Since when do we have an evangelion sized thermal shield?"
and Misato said: "The UN were testing it and I requested it from them seeing the nature of the attacks of the angels"
"You never quit to surprise me"
After a short while the orange evangelion emerged from the ground close to its purple counterpart and rushed to protect it and possibly get both of them out of there.
She made it just in time as the angel stopped focusing on Shinji and fired at her, but she deflected the beam back to it and hit its AT field, piercing it and damaging one of the blue sides.
Then unit 00 placed itself in front of 01 and started hitting the platform they were standing on hoping that it would break and being them down.
As cracks started to appear on the metal, Ramiel stopped attacking and begun to change its form again seeing as he wasn't able to pierce the shield.
First he closed himself and then he took the form of a romboid like polygon that was like opening on itself.
"The angel has changed form! The MAGI are saying that it has become at least 10 times more powerful!
The shield won't be able to resist an attack like that!" Maya shouted and Misato asked:
"What is the status of the pilots?"
"Shinji is unconscious and Rei is trying to break the lift, but she probably won't make it in time!"
Ritsuko answered, but before anyone could think of something to do a loud beep resounded in the control room and Hyuga shouted:
"The MAGI have detected an object in orbit, it appeared out of nowhere and it's coming straight at us, but it doesn't have a blue wave pattern!"
"Give me a visual!" Misato shouted and so on the big screen in Central dogma a second interface appeared showing a red and white comet that had originated from a portal behind it and that was directed directly to Tokyo 3.
Back on the surface Rei was becoming increasingly nervous as the angel had finished the transformation and it was preparing to attack as the iron plate wasn't going down.
Then, as soon as she heard about the incoming object over the speakers she looked up and saw a big white point in the sky that was coming right at them.
So she picked up Eva 01 and started to slowly bring it away from the destined impact zone.
Seeing this, Ramiel turned around to face the new threat and as he saw the comet.
He fired at it with its powerful blast while he was being observed by both the evas and everyone in the command room.
Out of nowhere a giant red sphere appeared in the front of the comet as it absorbed the shot without taking any damage and left everyone surprised, especially Rei who thought "How was that thing able to stop the angel's beam if it easily went through unit 01's armor just moments ago?"
The angel had no time to react as the comet impacted in its core and brought him down.
The force on the ground was so strong that it broke all the armor layers opening a big hole in the geofront, making the evas and the angel fall into it.
Finally as the bright light that was dragging the corpse of Ramiel with it hit the ground, it caused a 5.0 earthquake and caused all the systems in the geofront to shut down momentarily except for the two units that were still in the air.
Geofront
As they landed Rei stood up with some difficulties and then reached out to unit 01 trying to wake up Shinji.
When she opened the door of the entry plug she found him still breathing and her presence woke him up.
"Rei…" he said and then he started crying
"Why are you crying? Are you hurt? Did I fail in protecting you?"
the blue haired girl said and as she finished the phrase the boy looked back at her and said her and said:
"Don't worry, I'm fine.. Thank you for saving me, I really thought that I was going to die there"
"I was just following orders, I had to keep you alive"
"Yes, but not now, no one told you to open the entry plug to check if I was injured.
It was your own choice"
The girl was surprised by his last sentence, which caused her to start feeling something strange in her head which she couldn't name, so, feeling as lost as a fish out of the water she said:
"Sorry, but I don't know what to do in these situations"
"I think that a smile might be a good start"
And so she smiled at him, an honest, cute and happy smile that made the current mood much better.
*Bzzzzzzt*…
"Shinji, Rei, it's Misato can you hear me?
The impact of the comet sent us offline for a while, what's your situation?"
"Ikari has regained consciousness and unit 00 has received only minor damage. Ikari can you still pilot?"
"I think so.. What about this comet you were talking about? And the angel? What happened while I was unconscious?"
"Look over there"
As the boy shifted its gaze he saw the enormous hole left in the roof of the geofront and under it there was the corpse of Ramiel with the 'comet' stuck in the middle and glowing because of the extreme heat it had accumulated while entering the atmosphere.
"Ok..that's strange, but at least the angel is dead right?" Shinji asked and Misato replied:
"It's not emitting a blue pattern anymore, the thing must have pierced the core, phew, that's relaxing, anyway can the two of you go investigate with the evas?
I'll also be coming out with a squad of section 2 agents"
"Ok, Ayanami you'll need to put my plug back in, I can't do much from here" he finished with a chuckle and with a smile the girl got in her Eva and inserted the tube back into unit 01s neck making it reactivate.
After that they started to get closer to the corpse of the angel where at its centre the comet had started to cool down and that's when Shinji noticed something, so he said:
"Ehm, Misato are comets supposed to have red lines in them?"
"Hold on I'm getting there"
"That is not a comet" Rei said with a stone cold tone and then she added:
"It looks like there is a…. Castle? On top of it, I'm not sure"
"Well definitely it isn't something human made, but it's also not an angel so it's a bit reassuring, oh there you are Misato"
"Can the two of you see any entrance from up there?" the woman said and Rei replied:
"There seem to be two entrances on the front, but I suggest to wait, it's surface temperature is still over 400°C".
As she finished the phrase the castle spring to life as it got colored by lines of red energy and the lights inside activated, catching the attention of everyone present.
After a bit various grates opened on the surface of the castle and emitted a cooling gas that lowered the temperature to an acceptable level.
Fortress of Doom
Using unit 01's arm as a bridge Misato and some section 2 got to one of the entrances and tried to open it, but it did that automatically as soon as they got close.
After leaving what they thought was an airlock they found themselves in a big room that showed just how tall the insides were, enough to fit something bigger than an evangelion.
After the doors closed behind them a robotic voice greeted them and said "Hello, I am doctor Samuel Hayden,I am in control of the ship's systems, please identify yourselves"
"Does anyone know English?" Misato asked, but she got interrupted by Hayden saying:
"there is no need for that, I can understand all languages, now please identify yourself or the Slayer will consider you hostiles"
"Well I'm Misato Katsuragi and these are section 2 agents, their names are classified so I don't know them, but I assure you we intend no harm to anyone"
Then the robotic voice said "But you don't give a good impression by entering with your weapons ready"
"Well we need to take precautions, anyway who is this 'Slayer' you were talking about?"
"Well you're about to meet him"
Their faces turned simultaneously as they heard a heavy sound coming from the stairs in front of them.
And so they saw him.
A man (if he could be called that) in full power armor and armed with a modified double barrel shotgun descended from the stairs and stopped right in front of them observing their every movement.
His entire body except for the byceps was covered in a thick green armor made from something that looked like metal and it fit to his body perfectly, considering how huge it made him look as his helmet made him reach almost two meters of height.
The rest of his body, if someone had to describe it from looking at his armor, was more muscular than that of a professional body builder, yet keeping a sort of harmony throughout his entire silhouette.
Then apart from the double barrel shotgun he was wielding, a strange small device was seen come out from behind one of his shoulders as a small blue flame burned in front of one of the two holes that it had engraved in it.
Finally for the other details on his armor, apart from the various brown colored areas, there were tons of small cylindrical tubes that were concentrated especially in his arms, where on one of his wrists, a retractable blade was seen folded next to his big hand.
They were clearly terrified of him as he saw from their nervous faces, except for the woman called Misato who was standing right in front of him and showed less fear than the others.
"Uhm, hello Mr Slayer.."
"Don't expect a reply, he almost doesn't talk" Hayden said and got awarded with a pretty annoyed look from the man as he turned towards the camera, clearly annoyed.
And it was here that the group could see his face better now that the strange lighting wasn't hiding it anymore.
Similar to the rest of his body, it was very well built, but not too muscular and it had no beard nor mustache to speak of.
But the main thing that got Misato's attention when she looked at him were his eyes and the sort of power and anger that they seemed to display, just with a small glance.
"Anyway, I believe we need to clarify the situation, come in the control room, the Slayer will lead the way"
Samuel suddenly added and so they followed him up a various set of stairs and ended up in a big circular room with some panels in the centre and a strange machine in the back that stood in front of a very big window that seemed to be closed off by metallic curtains.
Finally as they got there a new voice emerged "Energy levels at 50% restoring external visibility"
"Who was that?" Misato asked
"Sorry for not introducing myself, my name is VEGA and I am the artificial intelligence inside the ship, Doctor Hayden is just connected to the systems, you can see his body to your left"
As they turned and saw the robot body cut in half suspended by a beam of red energy Misato said "You're in a pretty bad shape Hayden, how did that happen?"
"I'll tell you if you tell me why there are two giant robots looking at us from the outside and why the ship is surrounded by some blue matter that is bleeding"
As she noticed the two sitting evangelions looking at them from the frontal window while they are surrounded by the remains of the fifth angel she said:
"Well.. It's a long and very classified story, but since you just saved our lives I suppose we need to tell you, also can the pilots come here, they deserve to know too"
"It's fine for me, Slayer would you go get the 'pilots' and bring them here?" the Slayer nodded and went back to the airlock and while he was going there Hayden noticed the pilots and asked "Wait are those two pilots children?
Please tell me that I'm seeing things"
"Ehm, no, you see these 'robots' are called evangelions and they can only be piloted by special children"
"And why is that?"
"To be honest I still don't understand too, it's a very complicated process"
"And what do you use them for?"
"We use them to kill beings called 'angels' who are trying to kill the human race by triggering a so called third impact, but it looks like you got the fifth one, now it's my turn to ask questions"
"Correct"
"So where are you from and what exactly happened?"
"Well I can tell you that all the three of us are from Earth although different from yours.
Before we ended up here we were in a place called Urdak where the Slayer went to retrieve VEGA, but when we were leaving some demons attacked the machine that created the portal, causing major damage to the ship and making us end up here, VEGA is still putting everything together"
"Hold on demons?"
"Yes, in our dimension exists hell and it's armies of demons had tried to conquer Earth, if it weren't for the Slayer the planet would have been completely assimilated by them"
"Kind of ironic isn't it?
We are fighting angels and you fight demons. Also can you tell me more about the Slayer?"
"Well I can tell you that he is human, but has some 'interesting abilities' and that he has been killing demons for more eons that I could count. That's all I can tell you right now"
"Why are you holding back?"
"Well he doesn't like to hear his story and right now is right behind you"
As Misato heard those words she immediately turned around and found the Slayer standing there with the pilots by its side as they exchanged a worried look and slowly backed away from the two of them.
Just as the tension was starting to rise and alarm broke the silence as VEGA said:
"Warning critical damage to the demon prison!
Some of them have escaped and are approaching the control room!"
And so the slayer took the pilots and pushed them away from the doors as a plate of armored glass went up dividing the room in two sides,on one of them Misato, Shinji and Rei together with their section 2 agents stood as they watched the Slayer get ready for combat.
Soon enough some loud roars were heard from behind the doors and Hayden said:
"You might want to cover the eyes of the pilots, it's going to get bloody"
As he said that a hell knight busted one of the doors open and began charging at the slayer who responded by stunning him with a double barrel shot to the face and then out of nowhere a minigun materialized in his hands which he used to finish him up, but he had no time to rest as some gargoyles and imps appeared from the other doors followed then by other various demons.
Behind the glass everyone was frozen in shock as they saw the Slayer kill demon after demon mercilessly and in some of the most brutal ways possibles, all that while he was moving so fast that he was hard to track with the eyes.
The pilots remained particularly shocked because of the gore, but they were not able to close their eyes while witnessing the carnage.
After no more than a couple of minutes the last demon died as VEGA lowered the glass and said:
"Demon threat neutralized, safety mode disengaged"
After those word silence fell again inside the room as the corpses of the demons started to burn away and disappear, but after a while Shinji said:
"I don't feel so good"
And then he threw up on the floor.
As a doomba (roombas are called like this in Doom) came near him to clean up his mess the robot torso said:
"I told you to cover your eyes, but I guess you were too shocked right?"
The boy nodded and so Samuel added:
"Yeah, that's one of the general reactions upon seeing the Slayer in combat, anyway where were we?
Ah yes our conversation from before Miss Katsuragi , shall we continue?"
"Not at the moment, I've just received orders to bring the evangelions back into their cages, see you in a while Doctor Hayden and Slayer?"
The man looked at her.
"Thanks for protecting us from 'those'"
He nodded without making a single sound and as the woman looked around one more time she said:
"Anyway now I have to go"
But then Samuel asked her: "Wait Katsuragi, If you look over your left you can see a white device on the console right?"
"You mean this circular thing?"
"Yes, I thought that by transferring VEGA in there and connecting it to a computer inside your base we could remain in contact and the three of us can learn more about this world without being of trouble to anyone"
"What assures me that you aren't just going to kill all of us?"
"Because we have no reason to? You haven't attacked or brought any problem to us so far"
"Sounds good enough for me, so do I just take it?"
"Yes, VEGA has already transferred itself inside it, don't worry about how to connect it, just place it near an access port and then he will do by himself.
One more thing, I don't think that it would be productive if you told us lies and stuff like that so I would like for our communications to be free from such troubles"
"how could you know?"
"Let's say that all three of us are quite experienced at that.
On another note, can you give the Slayer a tour of the base as well?
Otherwise he would just break in by himself"
"If you put it like this then… sure…"
"Thanks for your collaboration, I won't hold you up any longer".
When the conversation finished everyone went outside and as the two Eva's started to make their way back to the base Misato told the Slayer:
"Come with me, there is an extra seat in my car"
But the Slayer declined the offer and, when he got in the middle of the road, he started to run at enormous speeds for a human and so Misato had to follow him at full speed.
While they were going back she thought "My God how fast this guy is, 90 km/h!
At this speed we'll catch up to the Eva's! And considering what I've seen him do…
What did I get myself into?"
On the other side of the road, the man in the armor was thinking "I have to say, this is an interesting world, with all this angels stuff it's a bit confusing, but at least there are no demons, maybe I can finally open up a bit...
And this time it won't end up like in Argent D'nur"
Before the two of them realized it they had arrived in front of the giant steel piramid and so Misato said:
"Well Slayer did you stretch your legs?"
Hearing this he replied with a low chuckle as he heard her continue while he looked at the big blue pyramid that towered over them;
"Anyway, welcome to NERV, it's better if you get a map, this place is so big that I still lose myself inside of it sometimes, heheh"
"Thanks, but I'll have the entire map when you connect VEGA"
Misato stood there surprised upon hearing his voice, it was low, but also a bit charming if she had to be honest and so she said:
"Oh so you do talk, I have to say I was getting a little worried about that, but I have to say that you have a nice voice anyway um..
Why are you talking right now?
Your friend back there said that you almost never do"
"Well let's just say that I had a chance of mind, after all I don't think that it was going to help if I stayed silent and closed off from everyone all the time.
Anyway, so NERV?
