Kelly rushed in the door to help Joey with the baby. "Kel, I think something is seriously wrong with him," Joey said with worry stamped on his face. "I have never heard him cry like this before. I've always been able to calm him down."
Joey was holding the fretful baby and trying to soothe him, but little Joe was quite distraught. "Lemme see him, Joey," Kelly said as she reached out for the baby. Joey handed his son over to Kelly.
"Shhh... Shhh..." Kelly whispered as she tenderly caressed the child's fine blond hair. Little Joe let out a little hiccuping sob and lay his small head upon Kelly's breast. "You're alright."
"IS he alright?" Joey asked softly. "I thought maybe..."
"I think he's teething. Do you have any baby Tylenol?" Kelly asked.
"Yeah, I think we have some in the kitchen. I'll go get it. Be right back."
Joey fetched the small bottle of Tylenol drops for little Joe. Kelly held the baby as Joey administered the infant Tylenol. The baby was much calmer now, resting comfortably in Kelly's arms.
"Where's Aubrey?" Kelly asked.
"Who knows. I came home from work and she just handed the baby over to me and hurried off."
"Joey, she's been doing this for weeks. It's not right - her leaving you and little Joe all the time like this. Have you confronted her?"
"Kel, I barely even talk to her."
Kelly just shook her head. "You and this sweet boy deserve so much more than the way she treats you. I wonder..."
"Don't say it, Kelly."
"I think you need to face it. She's not in love with you. I am so sorry."
Little Joe fell asleep in Kelly's arms. Joey was quiet, his thoughts somewhere else. He looked down and saw his son resting in Kelly's embrace. Kelly was so good with him. It was perfect whenever Kelly was near. She always nurtured little Joe like it was the most natural thing in the world.
He felt so much longing as he stared at her holding his son. "I'll put him to bed, Kel."
"Okay," she said as she gently handed the baby over to Joey.
Joey got little Joe tucked into bed, then he joined Kelly in the living room. "Can we talk?" he said as he sat down next to her on the couch.
"Anytime. I am always here for you," she said as she reached out to embrace her best friend.
Clint was smoking an 8 inch cigar after his lustful romp in bed with his sexy lover, the young and vibrant Aubrey. "Was it good, Aubs... when you rode my wild pony?"
"It's always good with you, Clint... but well, you and I need to talk."
"What about, sweet thing?" he asked as he pinched the plump cheeks of her lovely bottom.
"It's about little Joe. You see, Joey might not be his father."
"What?! You mean you're been bedding down with some other buck besides me and my son?"
"No, you elderly idiot. I am saying YOU might be the dad."
Clint nearly choked on his cigar. "What the hell? You mean I might be my grandson's daddy?"
"Yeah, I guess that's exactly what I am saying. Remember the first night when you got the Viagra? When we had a little too much to drink and we made that x-rated movie?"
"Ohhh hubba hubba, how could I possibly forget?"
"Well, I think that's the night that little Joe was conceived. I uhhhh... kind of... well, had sex with Joey, too, that night."
"I always thought you were a skanky little filly, but are you telling me that you double-dipped with me AND my son?"
"Well, what are we gonna do, little mama?" he asked.
"Don't you worry. I have an idea," Aubrey said.
Aubrey came home in the wee hours of the morning looking quite disheveled. Her hair was a tangled mess and her clothing was rumpled. She walked in to find Joey and Kelly snuggling together on the couch. They had both fallen asleep, holding each other.
"Well, isn't this a fine how do you do?" she said in a huffy tone.
Joey woke up in Kelly's arms, seeing his wife staring at him and his best friend as if they had been sharing a naked embrace. "Aubrey, where have you been all night?" Joey questioned.
"What's she doing here?" Aubrey demanded as she gave Kelly a nasty glare.
"She helped me take care of little Joe. He wouldn't stop crying, but finally we got him to sleep."
Aubrey made a snorting noise. She threw off her shoes, tossing them haphazardly across the room. "Joey, I don't even care if she's here... after all, she is your BEST FRIEND," Aubrey said in a nasty voice. "There's something I have to tell you. It's important."
Aubrey handed Joey a pamphlet or rather threw it at him so it landed in his lap. Joey looked at it as his mouth dropped open. "What - what's this?"
"It's for the Maury Povich show. You and I are going to be guest stars on it next week."
"What in the world are you talking about, Aubrey?" Joey asked.
"You know what it is," she said. "A DNA test needs to be done. I am not sure if little Joe is really your son."
"Why you no good, two timing little tramp!" Kelly spoke up in anger.
"Ohhh shut up! He's in love with YOU!" Aubrey screamed at Kelly. "Because of how he feels for you, he drove me into the arms of another man." Joey and Kelly looked at each other, but neither one of them spoke.
Joey was devastated. Little Joe might not be his son. Ohhh how he loved that precious boy. How could Aubrey be so cruel... making him think he was the baby's father for all this time when there was a possibility that someone else might be the child's dad?!
