Disclaimer: A recent review from Chunk127 for 'Its Not My Usual Way, But It'll Do' helped inspire this idea. That and watching the events of 7x11 again and Deb's comment about her doing whatever it would take to get rid of Hannah and behind bars also helps with the inspiration for this idea. Also, Hannah drugging Deb in the episode just feels like some bad writing at work.
"I know what you're capable of!" Shouted Dexter in Hannah's house.
And while she knew he knew that, it still hurt Hannah that he was accusing her of Debra's recent accident. Hurt to the point that tears were starting to well up in her eyes and it took her a moment to collect her thoughts before she spoke next. "That night when I went to visit your sister to try and make peace with her, she told me she'd do whatever it took to see me gone and behind bars! Yeah, I wasn't happy about that and I'll even admit to thoughts of retaliation but I swear to you, I DIDN'T DO IT! I wouldn't do that to you because I love you and I want to have a future with you! I know you well enough by now to know how meticulous you are in checking all the facts before you act and only an idiot would try anything! And I'm no fucking idiot!" She told him as tears began to fall from her eyes.
Hating how this was all going as the night had been wonderful until now. Having looked forward to spending the rest of the night in his arms after making love as well. Dexter hated seeing her in tears and hated the doubt that was in the air. He took a deep breath and released it before speaking. "I… Maybe it really was all an accident."
That he was just so unsure hurt Hannah even more and made her resent Debra some. "I know that it wasn't easy for you to see Debra in the hospital and that it had to be scary…"
"It was." He replied quietly.
"And its understandable you would try to make sense of a situation that doesn't make sense… But you're doing it at the expense of our relationship." She told him tearfully.
Dexter tried to assure her that that wasn't the case and that he loves her like she loves him and that he doesn't want to lose her. "I'm 100 percent sure about us, Dexter. And you need to be the same but until you do, I think it best we don't see one another." Was her response before she walked to the front door and opened it.
He stood still for a moment before reluctantly going towards the door and thanks to how upset and hurt Hannah was, she couldn't even look at him when he gave her one final look before leaving. And thanks to this fight with her, he'd choose to call off going after Estrada that night as he couldn't focus on much of anything. Instead, choosing to head towards the station to look into the evidence he found and later on, drove around aimlessly until finally going home. Not knowing this would prevent him from having some complications in the very near future with Captain LaGuerta.
Author's Notes: Had actually intended for this to be a long one-shot but the more I wrote, the more I felt like it deserved to be more than that.
