Chapter 1: A Chance Encounter
I pulled into the parking lot of the local grocery store and thankfully it was not too crowded. I hated driving Lissa's huge SUV but it was the only car that had a car seat for Rhea. I got out and went to the back seat and unbuckled Rhea, grabbed my purse and my reusable bags and headed for the entrance of the store with Rhea on my hip.
Rhea Dragomir Ozera was Lissa and Christian's four-year-old daughter. She was the cutest girl ever; she knew it and how to use it to her advantage. Thus, my nickname for her was Princess. We were at the grocery store to stock up on food for Lissa and Christian's house. Lissa had given birth to Andre Lucas Ozera and they were coming home from the hospital today. I had been taking care of Rhea for the last three days and today I was taking her grocery shopping, one because they needed food and two it was a distraction for Rhea so that Christian and Lissa could come home and get settled in with the baby.
I had taken Rhea to visit them in the hospital a few times but it is not the best place for a four-year-old. Rhea seemed interested in Andre for about 10 minutes and then wanted mommy's attention for ten minutes which gave me time to cuddle Andre. But then Rhea would get restless, so Christian would take her to the cafeteria for a treat. But eventually a four-year old's patience runs out and Lissa needed to rest.
But Rhea and I had a lot of fun together, we ate a ton of takeout food (I cannot cook at all), watched endless princess movies, played dress up, went to the park and any other activities I could think of to occupy our day. But our goal today was getting the house ready for Christian, Lissa and Andre. I am not the best person about cleaning, but Rhea and I cleaned the house from top to bottom, we made signs to welcome everyone home and now we were going to do a big grocery shopping trip so that they will be set for a little bit.
"Come on Princess" I said as I carried her on my hip.
"I'm not a Princess, Mommy is a Princess" Rhea said.
"I don't think so, Mommy is a queen which makes you a Princess" I said as we walked through the sliding doors. I had Rhea on my right hip as I started towards the carriages. Suddenly, I was body checked on my left side by a very unhappy looking woman, who had a familiarity about her. She had jet black hair and deep blue eyes and a scar on the side of her face, but despite the scar she was still beautiful.
My bag fell off my left shoulder and its contents scattered everywhere.
"Tasha!" I heard a man say with an accent that was so smooth. I bent down to collect my belongings when I heard the woman speak "If she can't handle a child maybe she shouldn't have one."
Bitch! I thought in my head, if Rhea were not with me, I probably would have said it out loud and probably a few on other choice words.
"I'm so sorry, here let me help you" the velvety voice said. When I looked up, I think my heart stopped. The most handsome man I think I have ever seen had crouched down and was helping pick up my belongings.
He had dark brown hair that was neatly tied at the nape of his neck and he had rich chocolate brown eyes that you could get lost in for days. Despite the clothes covering his body, you could tell that he worked out and was in good shape and he smelled so good, it was like a pine or woodsy scent. I did my best not to drool or stare at him for too long.
"I'm so sorry she bumped into you. Are you okay?" He said as he handed me my wallet, phone and lip gloss.
"Yes, I'm fine" I said as I stood up and when he stood up, I realized that he was tall, like really tall.
"You okay Princess?" he said to Rhea who was clinging onto me and playing shy. She nodded her head and then she said "Auntie Ro, he called me a Princess too."
"Well, then I guess it must be true" I told Rhea.
"I am Dimitri" he said as he reached out his hand to shake and when our hands met, there was a jolt of electricity between us. When I looked up into his eyes, I could tell he felt it too.
"Hi, I'm Rose and this is Rhea aka Princess" I said and we both laughed at that. Normally, I would never give out my name or Rhea's name to a stranger, but something just made me think it was okay to tell him.
"Hi Princess Rhea, I am Dimitri" he said as he reached out for her hand and then he kissed the back of her hand.
Rhea giggled and said "Hi Dimi…Ditri….I'll just call you D, okay".
"Okay D it is" Dimitri said as we both laughed.
"Auntie Ro, can we go away from the mean lady" Rhea said as she buried her face in my neck.
"Yes princess" I said.
"Dimka, hurry up, stop wasting your time with this white trash" Tasha said.
"Tasha!" Dimitri snapped at her before turning back to me and Rhea and said "Again Rose, I am so sorry for her behavior. Are you sure you both are okay?"
"Yes, we are fine, thank you for asking" I said politely to Dimitri said and then I turned and gave Tasha a death stare.
"Dimka!" Tasha all but yelled. Dimitri pinched the bridge of his nose before exhaling loudly "Fine Tash, let's go."
I walked toward the grocery cart and put Rhea in the seat as I watch Dimitri grab Tasha's arm a little roughly and lead her out of the store.
"She's mean" Rhea said with a frown on her face that started to break my heart.
"Yes, she was, but let's get food and then we can go see Mommy, Daddy and Andre".
"Can we get candy for Andre?" Rhea asked.
"Well, Andre is not old enough for candy, but if you help me maybe we can get you a treat" I said as that brought a smile to her face. As we were shopping, I was getting texts of groceries items that Christian needed. Thank God I liked him, otherwise he would have been getting on my nerves by now.
I was trying to make shopping as fun for Rhea as possible, partly to distract her from our earlier interaction and partly to keep her entertained. However, a certain tall, dark haired man with the best accent I think I ever heard kept creeping into my thoughts.
We ended up with a huge cart full of groceries by the time we finished and the unpleasant encounter was forgotten for the moment. Plus, Rhea was well behaved and patient for a four-year-old, so we picked out a treat for her.
Once we were in the car with our groceries, I called Lissa to let her know we were on her way. It's funny how families come together sometimes especially those that are not related. Lissa and I had been best friends since kindergarten and we both had endured the loss of our families in tragic accidents. Lissa lost her parents and brother in a car accident when we were 15 years old. Out of some miracle, Lissa and I had both survived the car accident. The police, EMTs and doctors had no idea how we managed to survive the accident with only minor injuries.
Then my parents were killed on the job as FBI agents when I was 16 years old. My parents had taken Lissa in after her parents died and then when my parents were killed, we were sent to a boarding house run by the sweetest woman named Alberta. That is where we met Christian, he had lost his parents in a murder-suicide. Christian's Aunt, whom he had never met, was the next of kin, but she declined to take care of him. And unfortunately, no one else in his family had wanted to take custody of him either.
Lissa and Christian were together almost from the minute they met. Christian and I didn't get along to well at first, but after he beat up this kid Ralf for me, he became like a brother to me.
The three of us went to a local college, Lissa became a psychiatrist, she was definitely the smartest one of all of us. I studied crisis management and Christian studied business management. We all had been left money by our respective families, so we weren't too hard up for money, but we were also pretty frugal with it as we realized that tragedy can strike at any time.
Lissa and I work together, technically she is my boss. We help the community when crises occur, we counsel people individually or as a family and we also help law enforcement and first responders debrief after traumatic calls. I loved my job, the only downside was there was always tons of work to do and now Lissa was on maternity leave, so we were splitting up her work for now.
While Lissa had been in the hospital, I was working out of her home at night after Rhea went to bed. I had tons of paperwork to work on, as it is the bane of my existence. Lissa and I worked with a wonderful team, since they knew Lissa, Christian and I didn't have any families, they had banded together to cover the office and emergency calls while Lissa was in the hospital. But I would be on call tonight, but I didn't mind, this is what I loved to do.
We pulled into the driveway and Rhea started screaming "Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy". I knew she was excited to see Lissa, so as I unbuckled her from her car seat, I reminded her that she needed to use her quiet voice so that she wouldn't scare Andre.
"Okay Auntie Ro, I promise" Rhea whispered to me.
I knocked on the front door and then walked in with Rhea on my hip, but she started squirming as soon as we were in the house. I put her down and she ran to Lissa first, who scooped her up. Andre was currently sleeping in the bassinet in the living area. Lissa had read everything about introducing a new baby to their siblings she could get her hands on and she always made sure that Andre was with Christian or in the bassinette when Rhea first saw her in the hospital and right now.
I gave Christian a quick hug and then I hugged Lissa once she passed Rhea to Christian. I took a peek at Andre in the bassinet, where he was currently sleeping. "He's so cute all wrapped up like a burrito" I said.
"Rose, only you would compare him to food" Christian said as I laughed at him. I couldn't get mad at him, because it was true.
"Come on Christian, we bought out the grocery store" I joked. Once we had all the groceries inside, Christian started putting everything away and I sat next to Lissa. Rhea had lost interest in her new baby brother after she saw that he did nothing. So, she was currently playing with her doll house.
Andre started to fuss so Lissa picked him up and started to feed him as she was telling me about her birthing experience.
"Better you than me" I said.
"Don't you want kids?" Lissa asked me.
"Well, yeah, if I meet the right guy, but I prefer ignorance. I don't want to know that I am going to be ripped apart." Christian and I laughed at that.
Once Lissa was finished feeding him, she handed him to me and I burped him. He was really cute, but I loved my job as Auntie as Andre's diaper exploded.
"Daddy, Andre has a present for you" I said.
"Come on Andre, let's get you cleaned up" Christian said in a soft baby voice while Andre screamed at the top of his lungs. Apparently, Andre did not like a dirty diaper.
Lissa looked at me exhausted "Andre is loud, we were so spoiled with Rhea, she just had a little cry, but Andre, he can be heard for miles".
I laughed at her realization. "Lissa, I am here for whatever you need. If you want me to stay so I can watch Rhea or just so you can take a shower. Just let me know."
"Thanks Rose, I appreciate that."
"That's what family is for" I said as I squeezed her hand.
Christian came back into the room with a freshly diapered Andre, placing him in the bassinet. "Hey Rose, do you mind picking up some Chinese food if I call it in?" Christian asked.
"Of course, I can pick it up" I responded.
Just then my phone started ringing, I fished it out of my bag, trying to answer it before it woke up Andre. I looked at the caller id and Lissa noticed my facial expression.
"Who is it?" Lissa asked.
"It's my number calling me" I said.
"Hello" I said curiously.
"Rose?" an accented voice said.
"Hi, it's Dimitri from the grocery store, I think that our phones got switched. Is there somewhere we can meet up to exchange phones?"
"Sure, I am going out to pick up Chinese food on 4th street, is that anywhere near you?" I asked.
"I live two streets down on 6th Street in the Tower Apartments, I'm in 25C. I can meet you at the Chinese place." Dimitri said.
"I can just stop over and drop it off at your place, since it is on my way" I said. "I'll probably be there in 15 minutes if that's okay?"
"Alright, I'll see you shortly." Dimitri said.
"Is that crazy lady there" I asked only half joking.
Thankfully, Dimitri had a good sense of humor and laughed "No, she's not here"
"I'll see you soon" I said and hung up the phone.
I looked over at Lissa and the confused look on her face made me break out laughing.
"When Rhea and I went shopping some woman bumped into me and my purse fell sending my belongings everywhere. Dimitri was nice enough to help me pick up my belongings and our phones must have gotten switched."
"Yeah Mommy, she was a really mean lady, but he was nice, he even called me Princess just like Auntie Ro" Rhea chimed in.
"Let me go and switch phones and get our food. Anything else you guys need while I am out?" I asked.
"Nope, we are good, thanks" Christian said.
I got into my car which had been residing at Lissa's and Christian's while I had been driving her car and I started out towards Dimitri's apartment. I couldn't lie to myself; I was a little excited to be seeing him again. He was gorgeous, I just hoped he wasn't involved with that Tasha chick or anyone else for that matter.
I pulled into the visitor spot at his apartment complex. I walked into the building and the man behind the desk asked "Good evening, are you here to see someone?"
"Yes, Dimitri in 25C" I realized I didn't know his last name.
"Rose?" he asked.
"He called down earlier, you can take the elevator around the corner, he is 25C".
I got in the elevator and pressed the button for the 25th floor. So far what I had seen, it looked like a nice apartment complex. The doors to the elevator opened on the 25th floor and I was surprised that I had butterflies in my stomach. What was that about, I only had a two-minute interaction with him, plus he's probably dating that Tasha bitch. But he is really good looking. Rose, get a grip, someone looking like that is most likely dating someone, lucky bitch who ever she was.
I reached his door and I took a deep breath to calm the butterflies in my stomach and I knocked on the door. It took about 30 seconds for Dimitri to answer the door. He was even better looking than I had remembered.
"Rose, come on in" he said. Now normally I would never walk into a strange man's apartment, but my gut was telling me I didn't need to worry about him. Hopefully, I wouldn't regret my decision, but I felt that I had good instincts in sizing up a situation due to my job.
I pulled out his phone and handed it to him and he grabbed my phone and handed it to me.
"Would you like something to drink? I have a beer if you would like?" Dimitri asked.
"Sure, thank you" I said as I looked around the apartment. I had a seat on one of the stools at the counter that separated the living area from the kitchen. Dimitri pulled out two beers and asked "Do you want a glass?"
"No, the bottle is fine" I said as he handed me the bottle and I attempted to twist off the cap, but it wouldn't move.
"Here, let me" he said taking the beer and easily twisted off the cap and then handed me the beer. We clinked bottles and I took a sip and was surprised I liked the taste. I looked at the label, but it wasn't one I had ever heard of, but the alcohol was helping me relax as I could feel my heart racing because of this magnificent creature in front of me.
He was standing at the counter in the kitchen facing me. "First, I need to apologize for Tasha's behavior. I hope your niece is okay."
"Yes, Rhea is fine, but thank you for asking. Is Tasha your girlfriend?" I asked but I was not sure I wanted to hear the answer.
"Ex-girlfriend. We broke up about two months ago and she doesn't seem to get the hint. I was only with her today, because she called saying it was an emergency, which was only a trip to the grocery store."
"I see, well it seems to me like you are better off without her" I said. Where the hell did that come from? I took a quick sip of my beer to distract myself as I could feel a blush coming on. OMG, what is this man doing to me, I never blush.
"So, I realized that we had switched phones when your phone pinged a bunch of times. I didn't mean to invade your privacy, but I thought it was mine." Dimitri said. Then he added "Is everything okay? Those were some pretty intense messages from someone named Jesse."
"Yeah, he doesn't get the hint that we are not together. I mean I only went on one date with the guy and he is professing his love for me. Sorry, you probably don't want to hear about that" I rambled on.
Dimitri opened his mouth to say something, when the door to his apartment rattled like someone was using a key to get in.
He grabbed my wrist and said "Rose, stand behind me, no one should have a key to my apartment. I stood behind him and watched him reach into the drawer next to him and pull out a gun. I gasped as my heart sank thinking what have I got myself into, this was definitely not good.
As if he sensed my uneasiness, he pulled out a black wallet like object and opened it and said "I work for the FBI; I am a hostage negotiator"
I looked at the badge and let out the breath I had been holding. He raised the gun as the door to his apartment opened. And who happened to walk through: Tasha.
"Tasha, what are you doing here? I thought I made it clear that I don't want you in my life anymore".
"I know that is what you said, but I knew once you calmed down, you would realize that it was a mistake." Tasha said.
"Tasha give me my key back; I didn't realize you still had one!"
"Are you sure you want the key back? Why don't I just hold onto it for now and when you realize that you made a mistake, I will already have the key." Tasha finally looked around Dimitri and realized I was standing behind him.
"What is this bitch doing here?" she asked as she looked from Dimitri to me.
Tasha then turned her venom on me and said "Honey, you need to leave, because he is my man and trust me when I say, he doesn't date ugly women."
"Tasha, give me my key and leave. Not that it is any of your business but when you knocked Rose's bag off her shoulder, our phones got switched."
"Well, you should get rid of her, she is probably going to use you, become a whore, get pregnant and take all your money." Tasha said.
"Bitch" was all I could say and I was happy Dimitri was between us and was built like a god because I so wanted to punch her.
"What did you call me" Tasha asked as she attempted to go around Dimitri.
"Tasha, get out NOW! Or I will have you arrested for trespassing." Dimitri growled.
"Fine" Tasha huffed out.
"Key" he said.
Tasha gave him his key and then she walked out the door.
Dimitri turned to me and pleaded "I am so sorry; I can't believe I ever went out with her."
"Don't apologize, you are not responsible for her actions" I said as my phone pinged. I looked at it and said "Well, I need to go, and get the Chinese takeout for my friends."
"Here, I will walk down with you. I don't think she will try anything but I would just feel better" Dimitri said.
We walked out of the building and thankfully Tasha was nowhere in sight. I got into my car but Dimitri stood in front of the door and leaned down and said "I think I need to take you out to dinner to make up for what Tasha did."
"You don't have to" I said. But I really want you to, I thought to myself.
"I know I don't have to but I want to" he said with the best smile I had ever seen. "How about Saturday, I already put my info in your phone and your info in mine."
I started blushing, again with the blushing "Sure" I said.
"Alright, I'll call you later in the week and we can figure out the details." Dimitri said as he gave me a panty dropping smile.
I drove off to pick up the Chinese food with the biggest smile on my face.
When I got back to Lissa and Christian's place, I still could not wipe the smile off my face.
Lissa demanded all the details while we ate. Christian put Rhea down and I could see Lissa fading, so I got up and said goodbye and told her to call me if she needed anything.
I got to my apartment around 9pm, and once I got through the door, my phone chimed with a text message. I had assumed it was Lissa or Christian, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was from Dimitri.
"Just wanted to wish you a goodnight, Roza. I can't wait until Saturday." His text said.
I blushed as I read the message and I was getting butterflies in my stomach.
It took me a while to figure out what I should say to respond to him. I texted "Goodnight Dimitri, can't wait to see you either". I sent it before I lost my nerve.
I took a shower and got myself ready for bed and I was watching some reality tv when my phone rang. At this hour it could only mean one thing. I was on call for crisis management tonight. I answered the phone and it was Mia.
"Hey Rose, sorry to bother you but there is a situation with Nathan and Galina. Apparently, he is holding her hostage, she was able to call the police, but then got cut off. Police are on the scene, but we were alerted due to our ongoing involvement."
"Okay, I am on my way" I said as I raced to put on some clothes. Galina was one of my clients and she was married to Nathan who was probably the worst person in world. They had three daughters together and Nathan was violent with Galina. Lissa and I have been working with Galina and her daughters on an exit strategy and counseling.
I raced over to the address that Mia sent me, I usually saw Galina in the office. We were so close to getting her out of her house with her kids. I pulled up and saw a bunch of flashing lights from different first responders. It appeared that the police, ambulance, fire fighters and FBI were on the scene. I was guessing that the FBI was involved because Nathan had probably threatened to kidnap the kids.
I parked and pulled out my credentials and placed them around my neck and started making my way to find out who was in charge. I saw Captain Stan Alto directing everyone, he was not my favorite person, but he was good at his job.
"Hey Stan, what's up?" I asked as I walked up to him behind the barricade.
"Galina called 911 about 30 minutes ago, all we could get out of her was that Nathan had shown up drunk. Now he is in there threatening to kill everyone if we don't leave them alone. This is Agent Belikov and Agent Zeklos, they are FBI hostage negotiators and are taking point." Stan said as he motioned to the men standing next to him.
I looked over and said "Dimitri?"
"Rose, what are you doing here?" Dimitri asked, just as surprised to see me as I was to see him.
"I'm a crisis counselor, I have been counseling Galina for about a year, we have been working on an exit strategy to get her and her daughters somewhere safe."
"This is Ivan, another hostage negotiator. What can you tell us about Nathan that might help us resolve this peacefully?" Dimitri asked.
"Nathan is a SOB, hates women, a violent drunk and thinks everyone is against him." I relayed to them.
"Is there anything we can use to negotiate with him?"
"Just agree with him, he thinks he is always right, it will play into his ego. And he blames everyone else for things that don't go well in his life."
All of a sudden, the front door opened and Nathan came out with his hands up and he had this huge grin on his face. Dimitri's team was able to take him into custody without incident. "This is not good, he's not the type to give up" I said and then suddenly there was an explosion inside the house.
Once Nathan was secured, police, firefighters, EMTs and the FBI agents including Dimitri ran into the house. As smoke started pouring out of the house, It was evident that Nathan had set the house on fire. One by one, everyone came out and based on the grim faces I realized that he had killed them.
Once the fire fighters had put out the fire, I started walking toward the house. I felt a hand on my arm and I looked up and saw Dimitri.
"Rose, you don't want to go in there" Dimitri said.
"You are probably right, but I will be called to testify, so I need to see what he did".
I walked up the stairs to the front door. I walked in and could smell the smoke plus the gasoline that must have been used. I could make out Galina and her three daughters, the were all sitting together on the couch and it appeared that they had been tied up. Which meant they had no chance of escape.
I was starting to feel nauseous, so I walked out the front door and walked to the side of the house. I leaned against the house as I felt dizzy and nauseous. I doubled over and started vomiting. I felt someone pull my hair out of my face. Once I was done, the same person handed me a cloth to wipe my mouth.
I stood up and turned to my knight in shining armor and realized it was Dimitri. "Thanks, this usually doesn't bother me, but…." I trailed off.
He handed me a bottle of water and I rinsed my mouth and spit it out trying to get the taste of bile out of my mouth.
"It's okay Roza, it happens to the best of us. Every once in a while, a case just hits you emotionally".
"Thanks, Dimitri, I really appreciate it."
"Do you need a ride home?"
"No, I'm okay" I said.
"Will you do me a favor and text me when you get home so I know you got home safe?"
"Sure, thank you Dimitri, you are very sweet."
I walked in the door to my apartment and as promised I texted Dimitri to let him know I had made it home. He responded with a winking emoji. I looked at the clock and realized it was 3 am. My clothes smelled like smoke, so I stripped and took a quick shower and they slipped into bed. I fell asleep instantly and the next thing I realized my alarm was going off.
Ughh, it was going to be a long day. Thankfully, I didn't have any scheduled clients today, so I took my time getting to work. Normally, we have set call days and we do not see any clients on those days or the day after, but with Lissa out we were all doing a little juggling act. I arrived around 10 am and I saw Mia at the front desk and she said "Hi Rose, the police and fire reports were sent over this morning, they are on your desk"
I sat down at my desk when my phone started ringing, I looked at the caller id and saw it was Lissa.
"Hey Lissa" I said.
"Rose, how are you doing I heard about Nathan and Galina." Lissa said.
"Thanks Lissa, I'm fine and you are supposed to be on maternity leave, so you are not allowed to ask questions about work related problems."
"Yeah, Yeah, yeah" Lissa said "I was also calling to let you know that the first responders have asked for a debriefing from the Nathan situation. Do you think you are up for it? Celeste and you will both be running the debrief."
"Sure, no problem, Liss. Now, get off my phone and give Rhea and Andre a kiss for me."
Celeste came into the office and sat down in one of the chairs on the other side of my desk. "So, I have talked Stan who is setting up the debrief. He said that it's a mixed group of officers, fire fighters and EMTs, and due to the number of participants he will be splitting them up into two groups."
I worked for a little while on Galina and Nathan's report he was being arraigned today and hopefully he will be held without bail. But my records would most likely be subpoenaed by the state as well as my testimony.
I then worked on setting up the debriefing for tomorrow, I had a pretty standard presentation, but I tweaked it for this situation. Thank god tomorrow was Friday, hopefully Celeste was up for drinks after the debrief. I looked at the clock and saw it was 2pm, so I decided to call it quits. I let Mia and Celeste know I was heading out and they could reach me by phone. Lissa was an awesome boss, due to the fact that we all had on call hours, we were allowed to adjust our schedule as needed.
Once I got home, I decided a workout was in order. I got to the gym and saw that Pavel was there. Pavel used to work with my parents and was like an uncle to me. But he retired after they were killed and opened up a gym and did personal training and self-defense. I went over to him and asked if he was free for a boxing workout. He agreed and he helped me work out my aggression.
"Thanks Pavel" I said as I was dripping with sweat. I was now too tired to be angry anymore. I grabbed a quick shower, stopped off at the local deli and picked up a sandwich for dinner and headed home.
I was just about to get ready for bed when I heard my phone ring. I looked at the caller idea and saw that it was Dimitri and my heart started beating faster.
"Hello?" I said, okay Rose play it cool I told myself.
"Hi Rose, how are you? How was the rest of your day?" Dimitri asked.
"Okay, I got a couple hours of sleep, went to the office and then attempted to beat the crap out of my trainer. How was your day?"
Dimitri chuckled "Mine was good, busy, but good. I hope your trainer is okay. Where do you train?"
"He'll live, I go to the gym on 7th Ave, a good friend of the family owns it. Pavel likes it when I beat him up, that way he knows I can take care of myself" I joked.
"No way, that's the same gym I go to, poor guy, I beat him up this morning." Dimitri laughed.
"Uh oh, poor Pavel" I laughed.
Dimitri cleared his throat "Anyways, I was calling to see if we could still make plans for Saturday night?"
I had the biggest smile on my face, thankfully, no one was around to witness it. "I would love too; do you have anything in mind?" I asked.
"Have you ever been to the Aquarium on a Saturday night?" Dimitri asked.
"No" I responded curiously.
"Well, every Saturday night, a restaurant caters a dinner at the Aquarium, and you can dine in front of the huge tanks. It's actually a lot cooler than I am making it sound." Dimitri seemed to fluster a little bit.
"No, that actually sounds really interesting."
"Have you ever had Russian food before?"
"No, not really except for some Americanized versions." I said.
"Well, a really good Russian restaurant is hosting this Saturday night, are you interested?" Dimitri asked.
"Yeah, that sounds really nice." We talked for about another fifteen minutes, but it was obviously we were both exhausted from last night. I had tried to stifle a yawn, but Dimitri heard it.
"I'm sorry Roza, I should let you get to bed. Text me your address and I will pick you up at 6:30pm on Saturday?"
"Sounds good. Have a good night Dimitri."
"Sweet dreams Roza."
