A silly, yet heart felt oneshot! I hope you enjoy! Because I had alot of fun writing this!
"Miroku I don't think this is necessary..."
"Nonsense Sango my dearest! We should celebrate!"
Sango followed Miroku around tugging on his sleeve, but he was hearing non of it. His dearest Sango was finally pregnant! And the whole village was invited to their celebration party! Sango insisted that is wasn't that big of a deal, that woman get pregnant all the time. But Miroku was insistent on a party.
In fact, most of the villagers were already gathered outside of their home by the time he had finished his announcement. They had brought gifts, food, sake, among other things. It was a true party. Hell, even Inuyasha was indulging himself on some of the food that was laid out. And when Miroku said everyone was invited, he meant everyone. Sesshomaru had come to the village that day to visit Rin, and Miroku had extended an invitation to him to join. He was resistant at first, but Rin AND Miroku insisted.
So there he was, the great demon lord himself, at a human party. He didn't have a gift to bring, but because he heard it was customary, and considered rude not to, he gave the Monk and Slayer a startling amount of gold as a gift. He was rewarded with a drunken hug from Miroku and a gracious thank you from Sango. The party went on well into the night, and everyone was having a hell of a time. It was then that a startling cry from Mirokus home caught Inuyashas attention, no one else seemed to hear him over the music. He darted into the hut and saw the distraught monk leaning over the sake they had gathered for the party goers.
"Miroku? What's up?"
"Its missing! Oh who would hick do this!?"
A very flushed Miroku turned and leaned into Inuyasha, blurting out words like, Oh woe is me, and, Such a terrible fate. Inuyasha just rolled his eyes.
"Miroku, your drunk. What's wrong now?"
"Oh Inuyasha its terrible! Someone has stolen our sake!"
"Is that what this is about? Isn't the sake for the party?"
"It iiissss! But the scoundrel has taken hick seven bottles! Seeeveeeen! The horror!"
"...Ok I'll admit, that's a lot of sake."
"Inuyasha you have an excellent nose! Track down that scoundrel! Bring back our precious sakeee!"
Miroku leaned into Inuyasha with a loud, drunken sob, and Inuyasha rolled his eyes again. He wasn't some hunting dog, used to track people down. Then again, this was Miroku and Sangos party. He didn't want anything to ruin it for them. With a sigh, he gently pushed Miroku off of him.
"Fine, I'll do it this time."
"Oh Inuyasha, you truly are such an amazing friend!"
Inuyasha rolled his eyes, and leaned over the bottles and jars of sake. He took in a deep breath through his nose, and froze. That can't be right. He took in another deep breath, just to be sure. Nope, that's definitely him. Why would he...
"Well...I know who did it..."
"Goooood! Go and gettem Inu hick Inuyahsa!"
Without another word, Inuyasha darted out of the hut, and leapt onto the roof. He took a sweeping glance around the large crowd of people, even in a crowd, he was very hard to miss. Inuyasha didn't see him, didn't smell him either, because of the accumulated scents in the area. He did however, see someone else. He took a flying leap off the roof, and landed right next to Rin, who was swinging a poor green Imp around while dancing.
"Oh hello Lord Inuyasha!"
"You don't by chance, happen to know where Sesshomaru is, do you?"
"Oh yes, he said he was going over to the old well! He said it was very noisy, and he needed to rest his ears!"
"Kay, thanks kid."
With that Inuyasha took off like a bullet for the well. Why the hell would Sesshomaru steal of all things...and why sake...and why seven bottles of it? It didn't take Inuyasha long to reach the well, but he was not prepared for the sight that met him. The once regal lord of the west, was lounging up against the well, his face flushed. He had a half drunken bottle of sake in his hand, and an already empty one on the ground next to him. Inuyasha was flabbergasted, to say the least. He carefully approached the demon lord.
Inuyasha was expecting maybe a glare from his brother, or a scowl, something along those lines. What he was not expecting, was for his brother to look up at him with half lidded eyes, and a big dumb smile on his face.
"Inuyashaaaa, to what to I hick owe the pleasure of this visit?"
Inuyashas jaw dropped. Sesshomaru was completely shitfaced.
"I...uh...are you ok?"
"I don't think I have ever been better, why do you ask?"
"Well uh...Miroku noticed there was sake missing...and asked me to find who took it."
Sesshomaru pouted, much to Inuyashas bewilderment, and looked to the bottles of sake next to him.
"I thought they were for the guests, didn't think I was hick stealing them."
"No no, they are for the guests...I just...seven of them?"
Sesshomaru gave Inuyasha a half hearted shrug, and took another gulp from the bottle he had in his hand.
"Alcohol wears of on me relatively fast. So I took enough to keep me good and drunk for a couple of hours. Everyone was having hick such a good time, I wanted to enjoy myself too. I mean, I am allowed to enjoy myself...right?"
"No no, of course you are! Just, why not have fun back at the party?"
"Ah, gotcha...so your just...drinking alone then?"
"Pretty muuuch...unless you wanna join me?"
Sesshomaru made a show of patting the ground next to him, the big dumb smile back on his face.
"Come have a drink with me, we never talk to each other!"
"Wow...you are seriously shitfaced aren't you..."
"One huuundred percent!"
Inuyasha tentatively made his way over to Sesshomaru, and sat down next to him, the both of them leaning against the well. Sesshomaru popped the cork off of another bottle, and handed it to Inuyasha. He took it, just to be nice, Inuyasha didn't much care for drinking. He watched as his brother took another gulp from the bottle, and he couldn't help but worry about him. There had to be a reason he was drinking so much, all by himself.
"Your...sure your ok?"
"At the moment, I'm doing great."
"At the moment...so your not ok. People don't just get drunk to get drunk yah know."
Sesshomaru gave a uncharacteristically big sigh, and propped his head in his hand.
"I'm just stressed, and drinking relaxes me, if only for a few hours. Then I become a big hick fluffy ball of stress again."
Inuyasha stared at his brother wide eyed. Did he just call himself fluffy?!
"What's uh...what's stressing you out so much?"
"Inuyasha, what isn't stressing me out!? My mother is constantly on my ass about producing a heir. I have a hick meeting coming up with other generals about territory ownerships, that may or may not end in a war. And I haven't slept in three days because I keep having hick nightmares!"
Inuyasha could only nod as his brother talked his ear off. Gods he was a chatty drunk. But at the same time Inuyasha felt so bad for him. He didn't realize how stressed out his brother was. And who wouldn't be stressed out about a possible war, and lack of sleep.
"And to top it all off, I think Rin hates me!"
"Sesshomaru, why would Rin hate you? That kid adores you."
"Because I abandoned her in a human village. That's why."
"You...you didn't abandon her! You left her here so she could learn how to live with humans, and so she would be safe. You explained that to her, we all did."
"Yes. But you don't see the look in her eyes, when she asks me if she can travel with me again, and I tell her no, not yet."
Inuyasha watched, as Sesshomarus whole demeaner changed. He hung his head, his shoulders sagged, the small frown on his face. He took another swig from the bottle, and tossed the now empty bottle aside.
"Sesshomaru, I'm not sure about a lot of things, but one thing I damn know for sure. Rin doesn't hate you. Kid loves you to death."
Sesshomaru reached for another bottle and un corked it. He paused when Inuyasha lightly grabbed his wrist.
"You might wanna slow down..."
Sesshomaru gave a short laugh, and pulled his hand away. It completely caught Inuyasha off guard. He had never heard him laugh before.
"I'm a full blooded demon, remember. Can't get alcohol poisoning. Why aren't you drinking? You have every reason to."
Inuyasha gave him a confused look.
"What do you mean?"
"Your Priestess who hick fell through the well two years ago. She may never come back."
It was Inuyasha this time, whos shoulders sagged.
"Kagome will come back."
"How can you be sure?"
"I just have this feeling."
Sesshomaru shrugged, and took a swig from his new bottle. The two grew silent for a short moment, before Sesshomaru broke the silence again.
"You know, you really are a lot like father."
Inuyasha glanced back over to his brother, his eyes slightly wide. Hes never really spoken to him about their father. Inuyasha only knew what their father looked like, he saw his spirit after their fight with Sounga.
"Well, you both are heard headed, you both have short tempers, obnoxious, awkward."
"But also kind, big hearted, and, you both fell helplessly in love with a human."
His mother. He felt himself smile at the memory of her. His life fell apart when she died. Inuyasha thought for a moment, and looked back over to Sesshomaru. He was gulping sake form the bottle again. He may never get to see Sesshomaru this shitfaced again. It might be time to take advantage of this.
"Saaay, Sesshomaru, I have a question or two for you, if you don't mind."
Sesshomaru held his bottle out in a salute, and looked to Inuyasha with a grin, before taking another gulp.
"Lay it on me."
"When I was little, and mother had just died. You came to see me, and left. Why didn't you take me with you? Was it because I was a Hanyo?"
Sesshomaru frowned, and looked to be lost in thought for a moment.
"No, I never hated you for being Hanyo. Not really"
Inuyashas eyes almost bulged out of his head at his brothers words.
"Excuse you? Then why did you leave me alone? Attack me over and over for all those years?"
"To protect you. The west was at war when your mother died. If I had taken you in, you would have become a target to many hick war lords. In fact making it seem like I hated you kept you safe in the long run. No one wanted to bother with the hated half demon."
Inuyasha couldn't believe what he was hearing. He never hated him? He was protecting him?
"I always kept an eye on you though, and attacking randomly kept your guard up, helped you get stronger. Now Tessaiga! hick That did piss me off. I wanted that sword soooo badly. Buuut once I figured out father had outsmarted me...again, I gave up. Plus I had just lost my fucking arm! HAH! Then I saw you swing that sword around like a hick hammer...It was disgraceful! So I figured Id try to teach you to use the Windscar at least. That took forever, and nearly killed me...again. But it worked out for both of us in the hick end. You learned to use the Windscar...aaand I met Rin."
Inuyasha just stared at his brother with his jaw hanging open. It was a ruse? All of it? Sesshomaru couldn't be lying to him, he was to drunk to tell a lie. Plus what would he get out of lying to him like that. If it had all been a ruse...it was a damn good one.
"Why didn't you just...tell me, after the war was over?"
Sesshomaru shrugged again, and let out a long, loud yawn.
"I'm not good at emotions, and it was just easier to keep it up."
Inuyasha just stared at him. Sesshomaru leaned his head back against the well and slowly closed his eyes.
"All the good it did." Inuyasha heard his brother mumble.
"You just hate me now...like everyone else does."
Inuyasha was taken back by that last comment, it was almost to quite to pick hear.
"Sesshomaru, stop tearing yourself down over things...your just drunk, this isn't like you."
When no reply came, Inuyasha leaned over closer to his brother. He eyes were closed, and his breathing slow and even.
He lightly shook his brothers shoulder, and he heard a light snoring come from him. He had passed out. All Inuyasha could think to do was stare at him. Everything said tonight, it was a lot to take in. To be honest, he wanted to run out into the middle of the woods and scream. But he couldn't just leave his brother lone like this, passed out in the middle of the forest. In this state, if a demon happened by, he wouldn't even sense it. So Inuyasha sat there by his side, watching over him, just like Sesshomaru had supposedly done to him when he was little.
The morning sun hit his closed eyes hard. Oh gods did his head throb. Sesshomaru slowly sat up, and he felt his stomach twist and gurgle. He had drank to much...again. He rubbed his head as he tried to piece together last night. Everything was a blank after he finished his first bottle.
"Hey, how you feeling?"
Sesshomaru gave a startled jump, and whipped his head to face the sudden voice. Inuyasha was sitting next to him with his arms folded into his sleeves.
"Inuya- ugh Inuyasha, what are you doing here?"
His brother shrugged and grinned at him, Sesshomaru didn't like that look.
"What...don't tell me you don't remember? Than again...you did drink a lot."
Inuyasha grinned again, and Sesshomaru felt his shoulders shrink back. Oh god...what did I do.
"I...do not remember."
"Oh, that's a real shame...we had such a nice chat too."
Sesshomaru felt himself pale. A chat?
"What did we chat about? Oh you know, stuff."
Sesshomaru didn't like that gleam in his brothers eyes.
"Pray tell, what kind of...stuff?"
"Oh you know, your mother, war generals, Rin...feelings. You are a surprisingly chatty drunk, a real lightweight too!"
Inuyasha laughed, and Sesshomaru paled, feeling like he was going to pass out again. He could only hope to god he didn't spill his heart out to his brother last night. But from what Inuyasha said, that might be exactly what he did. Inuyasha stood, and began to walk away.
"Well, your awake now, so I'll leave yah be. If your gonna be sick, please don't vomit in the well."
Sesshomaru sighed and rubbed his temples. He wanted answers from Inuyasha, but was to afraid to ask for the details.
"Oh, by the way."
Sesshomaru looked up to his brother, who was now inches away from his face. When did he get this close to me... They stared at each other for a moment, before Inuyasha smiled, and pat him on the shoulder.
"For what its worth...I don't hate you."
Sesshomaru stared at him, jaw agape, as Inuyasha grinned at him, and bounded away towards the village. Sesshomaru was alone now, but his eyes were glued to where Inuyasha had stood. Slowly, he tore his eyes away, and glanced down to the empty sake bottles. Closing his eyes, he groaned and let his face fall into his hands. Sesshomaru vowed right then and there, that he was never going to drink again.
Please gimme a review! This was so much fun to write! =D
