No I am not Stephenie Meyer, I wrote this in note that Edward never came back in New moon, and Bella actually answered the phone. I know in the books, Edward did say he was going to come back eventually because being away from her was too hard to handle, and that he loved her too much to be away from her, but let's say that … Edward believed she was safe and happy… This scene starts at the phone… I hope you enjoy (: This chapter will be completely copied from New Moon Chapter 18 funeral. I WANT THIS TO BE KNOWN. I do NOT claim this chapter or these characters as mine. I just want to set the mood of chapter 18 by reposting it on this page. Chapter 18: Funeral
(Meyer, Stephenie) "[Alice was back for the moment, but that changed nothing. True love was forever lost. The prince was never coming back to kiss me awake from my enchanted sleep. I was not a princess, after all. So what was the fairy-tale protocol for other kisses? The mundane kind that didn't break any spells? Maybe it would be easy–like holding his hand or having his arms around me. Maybe it would feel nice. Maybe it wouldn't feel like a betrayal. Besides, who was I betraying, anyway? Just myself. Keeping his eyes on mine, Jacob began to bend his face toward me. And I was still absolutely undecided. The shrill ring of the phone made us both jump, but it did not break his focus. He took his hand from under my chin and reached over me to grab the receiver, but still held my face securely with the hand against my cheek.
His dark eyes did not free mine. I was too muddled to react, even to take advantage of the distraction. "Swan residence," Jacob said, his husky voice low and intense. Someone answered, and Jacob altered in an instant. He straightened up, and his hand dropped from my face. His eyes went flat, his face blank, and I would have bet the measly remainder of my college F and that it was Alice. I recovered myself and held out my hand for the phone.]" (Meyer, Stephenie)
***********This is where my version begins********************** (It'll be very short)
Jacob looked at me with a dark expression, one that seemed to have hurt him. I've seen this look on his face before, the sheer disappointment in my room when I only remembered the legend of the Cullen's from the Quileute treaty story. His dark eyes wallowed, and his lips pulled back behind his teeth with a growl escaping them. He hesitated to hold the phone to his ear, staring at me, and then looking away in defeat. I reached my other hand onto his shoulder, his body trembling.
"Jake?" I asked him still with my hand out towards the receiver waiting for him to relieve it from his ear to hand it to me, not understanding where this torment that he was inflicting on himself was coming from. "Jake, what's wrong. Give me the phone…" I paused a bit looking at him. He seemed to be contemplating himself again but evidently enough, he handed me the phone. I snatched it from him, holding it close to my face walking a few feet away from him as the cord unwounded to follow me.
"Hello, Alice? I'm sorry Jake is being a bit overprotective." I looked over at him, but he wasn't looking at me anymore. His fists were clenched, and his eyes glued to the floor. My focus on Jake completely distracted me from the phone. My gaze broke off from Jacob, and the call was cut off.
"Huh, that's weird. I think Alice just hung up on me," I lifted the phone away from my ear and looked down at it, contemplating. Something must be wrong, but surely not. She just left only a little bit ago. She'll be back though, I'm sure. She said she would be. She promised.
My fingers were trembling holding the phone receiver in my palm. I looked down at it trying to understand where the shaking releasing from. I could feel my face disorienting again, the pain in my chest, I couldn't breathe. Alice wouldn't leave me... No, of course not. She said she would be back; she had to come back. I could feel the air rushing into my throat when I gasped for it, but I couldn't pull it into my lungs. I looked over at Jake as I dropped the phone out of my hand. I could see him lunging for me before the light in the room was gone.
Be sure to read the next chapter and the following ones after this! This chapter was short to go ahead and get it behind so I could start with the story! Each chapter will get longer and longer. More words will come! (: Enjoy! (The story is still in progress!)
