Phineas was taken by surprise when his best friend since practically childbirth kissed him on the lips.
"Isabella!" he exclaimed with excitement, and was happy to know she felt the same way he did.
"Hit it, Carl!" she said with enthusiasm.
Oh, no! He wasn't going to have a chance to tell her! They couldn't just forget! Stop! He tried to say something, but he couldn't figure out what to say, so he just said, "Wait, wait, wait!"
A flash appeared before he had the chance to say anything.
He woke up under the tree, next to Ferb, who was still softly snoring. It was kind of funny... Ferb was silent during the day, but when he was sleeping, he snored... a lot.
He chuckled and sat up. He sank down in relaxation, and then wondered what had happened. He didn't remember much from earlier, so he figured he must have been daydreaming. Minutes later, Ferb woke up. Phineas didn't even realize Ferb was awake, he was so quiet.
"Oh, hey, Ferb! When did you wake up?" he asked.
Ferb yawned and stretched.
"Oh, okay... so not too long ago. Hey... where's Perry?" he asked his silent brother.
Ferb pointed to the side of the house, where Perry had just walked out. "Oh, there he is! Good eye, Ferb!" Phineas said, and rushed over to his pet platypus. Perry was one of his favorite... living things.
He laughed and picked Perry up and brought him over to the tree. Perry's tail flinched in a reflex when he picked him up and accidentally smacked Phineas in the face.
"Ouch! What was that for, Perry?" Phineas laughed and rubbed his cheek, which was now red.
Perry growled, and Phineas took it as an apology. "Don't worry, bud, I'm not mad at you! Weird reflex, though..." he started, and then an idea popped into his head. "Ferb, can you grab an acorn?" he asked with a grin.
Ferb walked over to the tree and grabbed an acorn off of the ground. He handed it to Phineas, who placed it on Perry's tail. Phineas wondered what made Perry's reflex start. He started scratching the platypus, and when he scratched him on the side near his front arm, his tail went up, flinging the acorn across the yard.
Phineas laughed loudly, keeling over and hugging his sides. He ran to grab the acorn and tried it again. The acorn shot even farther, but this time it went into the house. Candace's room to be exact.
"Oops..." Phineas said, waiting for his sister to scream at them.
"Well, that was unfortunate." his brother piped up, as they heard a ping from inside. The boys flinched.
"Hey, Phineas! Whatch-" a voice started from outside the gate, but was cut off by a thundering voice.
"OWWWWW! WHICH ONE OF YOU LITTLE TWERPS DID THAT?" Candace screamed from inside the house.
Phineas saw Isabella and motioned her over, and then proceeded to cover his ears. The other two friends did the same.
Candace's red face emerged from the upper floor window, her voice cracking from how much she was screaming. She was interrupted by another voice from downstairs.
"CANDACE! BE QUIET!" Linda called from the kitchen.
Candace grumbled and gave Phineas the death stare before slamming the window shut.
"What was that all about?" Isabella asked, raising an eyebrow.
Phineas turned red. "Well... Ferb and I may have accidentally shot an acorn into her room and it hit her..."
Isabella covered her mouth, trying not to laugh.
Ferb tapped Phineas on the shoulder. "Excuse me, I had nothing to do with that shot."
"Okay, fine, so I did it! So what?" he said.
Isabella looked at him. "Maybe you should apologize, Phineas."
Phineas thought for a second, and then nodded. "You're right, Izzy. I'll be right back!" He ran inside the sliding glass doors and they saw him run up the stairs.
"Hey, Candace..." Phineas started, opening the door with a crack.
Candace had an ice pack on her forehead. There was a huge red lump on her head. Phineas winced at the sight. "...are you here to throw another acorn at me?"
"No! I'm sorry, Candace, I should have aimed Perry better. Hey, Ferb and I can build something to heal your bump! It's the least I can do for doing... that..."
Candace saw the look on his face. He looked genuinely sorry, and she couldn't help but smile. "You know, with the amount of trouble you cause me, you always manage to fix it. Come here!" she called, and motioned him over.
He walked over slowly, in fear she would hit him or something. His sister was... unpredictable... sometimes.
"Oh, come on! I'm not gonna hurt you!" she laughed.
He sat next to her on the bed. She gave him a noogie before giving him a hug. "Go build your crazy invention, I'll bust you later. I gotta take care of this stupid bump first."
Phineas smiled at his sister and disappeared down the stairs and back outside.
He saw Ferb and Isabella playing with Perry's reflex again. He laughed and ran over to them. All of a sudden, an idea appeared in his head. "Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!" he smiled.
Ferb looked over at him as if to ask him what?
"We're gonna make platypus themed sports! What if we made a huge platypus that did the same thing as Perry's tail, but huge, and can throw us through the air!"
Ferb gave him a thumbs up.
"That sounds fun! Do you want any help?" Isabella piped in.
Phineas had forgotten that she was there. "Oh! Yeah, of course! You've always been invited to anything!" he said, but he felt himself blushing. He tried to stop blushing, but the harder he tried not to, the hotter his cheeks got.
"You okay, Phin?" she asked. Is Phineas blushing? Does he like me? HE LIKES ME!
He snapped out of his brain and realized she had asked him a question. "What? Me? Yeah, I'm fine! Totally fine!" he said nervously.
Ferb facepalmed. His brother was not good at hiding his feelings at all. He also wasn't very good at recognizing signs that someone liked him.
"Oh... okay!" Isabella grinned. "So... blueprints?" she asked, twirling her ebony black hair around her pointer finger. Phineas got distracted, watching each strand of her hair frame her face as it fell off of her finger.
Ferb saw his brother was out of it. He waved a hand in front of his face, but got no reaction. He clapped, but still nothing. He smirked as he had another idea. He slapped him across the face. Nada.
Isabella laughed, and Ferb looked back at her. "He's out cold." Ferb said, shrugging.
"I can see that... so, Ferb, do you have the blueprints?" she asked, and Ferb nodded and pulled out a blue piece of paper that was folded up a few times. He unfolded it carefully to reveal a blueprint of a large wooden platypus, that looked similar to the wooden platypus toys they had made at the beginning of that summer.
As the other two started working on the platypult, two of their other friends came through the gate.
"Hey, Buford! Hi, Baljeet!" Isabella called. Ferb waved to them.
"Hey, guys. What's wrong with Dinnerbell?" Buford asked, pointing to Phineas, who was staring off into the distance.
"We have no idea... he's been like that for a few minutes." Isabella said, shrugging.
"I've never seen Phineas like that. I hope he's ok." Baljeet said, walking over to him and waving. Isabella got up and walked over to him.
"Phineas? Are you okay?" she asked, and all of a sudden, Phineas woke up. "ISABELLA?" he asked in a worried tone.
"What? I'm right here!" she called, shocked by his sudden awakening.
Phineas looked her in the eyes with a look of bewilderment and horror at the same time.
What just happened? he thought. He had had the weirdest dream. Isabella kissed him, and then told this kid with curly red hair and purple glasses to hit it, and then he woke up.
"Oh... sorry, I just had a weird dream." he said, avoiding eye contact with her.
She looked at him concerned, but then Phineas returned to his normal self.
"OH! We're building the platypult! Come on, everyone!" he said, trying to forget the weird dream he had just had. That whole afternoon, Phineas tried his hardest to avoid her, because he knew that if he looked at her, he would probably burn up and blow his cover.
Isabella was confused. She had no idea what was going on with Phineas, but it was freaking her out a little bit. He had acted like he had just watched her kill someone. He wouldn't look at her the whole day. Had she done something wrong?
After they had finished with the project, she had tried to enjoy the fun project that they had been working so hard on, but it was hard to focus with the cold shoulder that Phineas had given her.
"I-I gotta go home. I'll see you guys later..." she sighed, looking back at Phineas, who had taken a single glance at her.
"O-okay. Bye, Isabella." he said, then started staring at the bark of the tree.
She could feel tears welling up in her eyes, and then started running towards her house. Before she could reach the house, she felt a hand on her back.
She jumped and turned around.
"Oh, hey, Ferb." she sighed, hoping it would be Phineas.
Ferb nodded. "I assume you're upset at Phineas' behavior today?" he asked.
"Yeah... he acted like I started a rumor about him or something. Would you do something for me, Ferb?" she asked, looking at the ground.
Ferb nodded in reply, and Isabella smiled. "Thanks Ferb! Would you ask him what's wrong? Why he doesn't want to even look at me?"
"I will for sure try. Goodnight, Isabella." he said, giving her a hug before smiling and walking back to the backyard.
Isabella turned around sadly and headed back to her house.
That night, when the boys were settled into their room, ready for bed, Ferb decided he would ask what was wrong. He looked up from his book.
"Phineas, what happened today?" he asked.
"W-what are you talking about?" Phineas asked, his face turning red.
"I saw you were avoiding Isabella today. What happened?"
"Okay, this is going to sound absolutely crazy... I had the weirdest deja vu today." Phineas started, his face turning somber.
"Of?" his normally silent brother asked.
"Ferb... Isabella kissed me."
