Taking a break from Spencer Life. Starting a new one-shot series following A Shules Engagement!
The Morning After
It was 9:30 the morning after the wedding and Juliet woke up and saw Shawn's head under his pillow. She smiled and fixed it, so his head would actually be on the pillow.
Shawn felt Juliet lift his head and smiled.
"Good morning." Shawn whispered.
Juliet smiled, "Good morning."
Shawn opened his eyes and pulled Juliet in for a kiss.
Shawn wrapped his arm around Juliet's back and pulled her closer to him.
Juliet felt the metal of Shawn's ring on her bare back and shivered.
"You ok?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah, I'm not used to you having a ring on your finger." Juliet said.
"I like it."
Shawn nodded, "Jules, I love you."
"I love you too, Shawn." Juliet said.
"So now that we're married, what do you want to do?"
"We do have presents to go through, we could send out thank you notes, or we can stay in bed all day just like this."
Shawn pulled Juliet on top of him, "You know, I would love to stay like this all day, but…"
"Are you really turning down a day of cuddling with me?"
"I said nothing of the sort, dear Jules."
"What I was going to say before I was rudely interrupted, was that I was going to cook you and the bump breakfast and then I may or may not call my father."
"You really want to do that?"
"I feel like I have to."
"He's my dad."
"I get that, but what he has said to you the last few days is unacceptable."
"Shawn listen to me. Every time something good happens to you, your dad has some smartass comment questioning your ability to handle it."
"He's always been that way."
"I know, that's why I'm putting an end to it."
"Shawn, I saw the look on your face when he walked out of the reception last night. It broke my heart. How am I not supposed to get upset at that? We're talking about our baby, Shawn. A thing that should be celebrated, not criticized."
"What should I do?" Shawn whispered.
"Baby, whatever you do, I'm going to support it."
Shawn ran his fingers through his hair and pulled on it a bit.
Juliet grabbed his hands and held them, "Shawn, I don't like seeing you upset. It seems like every time we go around your dad, it's like he finds all your insecurities and picks at them. No father should do that."
Shawn was about to talk when the doorbell rang.
"Who could that be?" Juliet asked.
Shawn grabbed the iPad off the table and checked the cameras and saw his dad outside.
"My father." Shawn whispered.
"I got it." Juliet said.
"Jules, this is my battle."
"You've been benched, sorry."
Juliet got up and got dressed and went to the front door and opened it.
"Good morning, Juliet." Henry said.
"Morning. How can I help you?" Juliet asked.
"Is Shawn up?"
"Yes, but he is doing something."
"What could he be doing?"
"What do you want?"
"I want to apologize about last night."
"Do you really? If you do, I don't want you to point out his insecurities especially at our wedding or rehearsal dinner."
Shawn came around the corner with a shirt and pants on and put his hands on Juliet's waist.
Juliet turned her head and saw Shawn smiling.
"What's that for?" Juliet whispered.
Shawn bent down and whispered in Juliet's ear, "Just being you. I can take it from here."
"Are you sure?"
"Ok. I love you."
"I love you too, gorgeous."
Juliet kissed Shawn and left the two Spencers alone.
"You act different when you're around her." Henry started.
"You're really going to start off a conversation like that?" Shawn asked.
"You're a totally different person when you're with her."
"It's because I'm HAPPY. Didn't we have this discussion last night?"
"Dad, I really want to know why you're not happy about me starting my own family?" Shawn asked.
"Shawn, I don't want you to be the father that I've been to you."
"I get that, but you don't have to tell me that I'm going to be a terrible father, especially at my wedding."
Henry just stood there.
"You have nothing to say?" Shawn asked.
"I'm thinking of what to say, so I don't mess something up." Henry said.
Shawn leaned against the door frame and crossed his arms.
While the two Spencers stood in silence, Juliet brought Shawn a glass of pineapple juice.
"Thank you." Shawn said.
"Of course. Do you have 30 seconds?"
"Dad, give me just a second with Juliet." Shawn said.
Shawn turned his back to Henry and looked at Juliet.
"What's wrong?" Shawn whispered.
"Nothing. I just wanted to see how you were doing." Juliet said.
Shawn wrapped his arms around Juliet's waist, "Everything is ok…I think."
"Are you sure?"
"Ok, well I'm going back to bed. Feel free to join me later."
Shawn laughed, "Ok. I love you. Oh and you don't need your robe."
Juliet threw a teasing smile over her shoulder and walked back to the bedroom.
Shawn turned back to Henry, "Sorry about that."
Henry looked up at Shawn with a disgust look on his face.
"What's with the look?" Shawn asked.
"I just listened to your conversation." Henry asked.
"Well, this is my house and Jules is my wife…"
"Is there anything else you need to say?" Shawn asked.
Henry stood in front of Shawn with his arms crossed.
"Really? I don't get an apology about how you acted at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding?" Shawn raised his voice.
Henry's eye shot up to look at Shawn, "Don't raise your voice at me, son."
"Dad, the past 2 days were supposed to be the best days of my life. Instead, I have you pissed off about how I tell the diner story…"
"It's because it's cheesy!"
"That is where I met the love of my life, the mother of my child… how could I not tell that story over and over?"
"As I was saying earlier, you're also missed I'm going to be a dad. Like are you not happy for me in general?"
"I don't know."
"You don't know? A father doesn't know if he is happy for his son and his brand new daughter-in-law on getting married and having a baby. Interesting. See you later."
Shawn slammed the door and locked it.
Juliet heard the door slam and ran to see what was going on.
"Shawn…" Juliet whispered.
Shawn faced the door until Juliet came up to him and grabbed his arm.
"Baby, look at me." Juliet begged.
Shawn looked down at Juliet and smiled.
Juliet saw the tears in his eyes and grabbed his hand and pulled him to the couch.
Once they were sitting Juliet put Shawn's head on her shoulder and rubbed his face.
Shawn sniffled and let out a shaky breath.
Shawn moved his head from Juliet's shoulder to her lap.
Juliet stroked Shawn's hair and Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand and kissed it.
"I love you." Shawn whispered.
"I love you too." Juliet said.
Shawn sat up and ran his hands over his face.
Juliet grabbed his hand and held it, "You ok?"
"Yeah. I got you." Shawn said.
"I'm not going anywhere."
"You know since we're married, you're stuck to me like that extra strong glue."
Juliet laughed, "Am I now?"
"Yeah. You're not allowed to come unglued. It's the law."
"I must have missed that law when I was at the academy…"
"It's a new rule. It took effect yesterday."
"I gotcha. Who approved of this law?"
"Shawn Henry Spencer."
"Well Mr. Spencer, I guess I'm in no place to misbehave now…"
"You can misbehave, just make sure you're ready for the consequences."
Juliet arched a brow, "Consequences?"
"Jules, do I have to tell you how laws work and what happens when you break them?"
Juliet leaned in, "You know it's been a while since I've been in school. Could you please demonstrate for me?"
Shawn pursed his lips and gave her a little kiss.
"That's all you got?" Juliet asked.
Shawn grabbed Juliet's waist and pinned her down on the couch and kissed her deeply.
Juliet gasped at how quickly things progressed between the two of them.
Shawn pulled away and looked at Juliet, "Do you understand now, Mrs. Spencer?"
"I may need one or two more refresher courses." Juliet said.
Juliet pushed Shawn off of her and got up and undid her robe, "I may need a refresher course or two."
Shawn got up and followed Juliet to the bedroom.
Juliet dropped her robe right before the bedroom door and Shawn took after her.
Shawn grabbed her by the waist and kicked the door shut behind him.
Hey guys, I'm still doing Spencer Life One Shots.
I wanted to do a series of One-Shots, but improved.
