Author's Note: Hey everyone. So this is my second Fanfic I've written and the first Fanfic of mine with chapters. This Fanfic is about what would happen if Effie never drew the slip of paper with Prim's name. The result is that any one of the twenty-four tributes could win. This Fanfic is also a sort of SYOT, but instead of tributes submitted I'm using the 23 canon tributes and a character I created to replace Katniss for this Fanfic. This chapter is going to be a short one since it's basically a prologue chapter. Just so you guys know, I'm going to use what the canon tributes look like in the film simply because I've already created backstories for them. With nothing else to say, read on and leave a review to let me know what you think.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT, in any way, shape, or form own the "Hunger Games" series. Suzanne Collins is the rightful author of the series.

Warning: Since this is a "Hunger Games" Fanfic, expect language, violence, and other horrifying stuff in future chapters.

The Seventy-fourth Hunger Games forever changed Panem.

It was a spark that ignited a fire, which overthrew a decades-long regime.

All because of a single slip of paper.

But what happens if that slip was never chosen?

What if someone else was chosen instead of the Mockingjay's little sister on that fateful day?

Well, one thing is for certain.

If Prim was never reaped, Katniss would never have volunteered.

No Katniss means no spark.

No spark means no fire.

No fire means that the Hunger Games and the Capitol's brutal reign continues.

But one question remains.

Who would win the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games if Katniss was never a tribute?

Would it be the ambitious furrier?

The heiress to one of District One's wealthiest families?

One of the two soon-to-be step-siblings who were forced to volunteer by their district's mentors?

One of the two siblings separated by divorce, but reunited when they were reaped?

The twelve-year-old prodigy?

The openly rebellious Career tribute?

The vicious gangster?

The sly, elusive thief?

The pessimistic, cynical loner?

The depressed convict?

The quick-tempered asylum patient?

The athletic paper mill worker?

The anxious bow tie maker?

The daughter of fashion designers?

The determined underground boxer?

The friendly barmaid?

The cunning thug?

The shy shepherdess?

The strong, but gentle harvester?

The kind and clever orchard worker?

The caring baker's son?

Or maybe even the girl that replaced Prim?

No matter who wins, so long as the games continue, there will always be countless youth who will perish in the games.

Let the Seventy-fourth Annual Hunger Games begin.

What do you guys think? Did the prologue make you want to read more? I hope so. Anyways, the next chapter will be just brief glimpses of the 24 tributes' lives the day before the reaping. Just so you can get to see what the tributes were like based on my head-canon. I'll also explain why I've added my head-canon backstory and personality to the tributes (except Peeta; his backstory and personality are already shown in the books and movies) in the reaping chapters. Leave a review about my spelling and grammar or about what you think.
