I don't own or co-own Madara Shippuden or Re:zero — that rights belong to Masashi Kishimoto and Teppei Nagatsuki — but I owe this story and its OC characters.

Rated M - For Strong Language, Blood and Violence and other stuff — it is Re:zero after all.

"[Prologue: Madara Uchiha Despaired]"

"The sky tonight is beautiful.

Madara thought while looking up at the sky filled with stars. If he though back about it, it has been a long time since he had a calm sensation like this while looking at the sky. While lowering his gaze from the sky, he saw a figure approaching him...

"Hashirama... Is that you?"

A broken voice was heard through the silent battleground. Madara Uchiha was the owner of the voice.

He Madara Uchiha was the strongest ninja to ever walk the Elemental Nations and after the long battle, being "Revived" by the "Edo Tensei" in the middle of the battle. Then being completely revived by the "Rinne Tensei no Jutsu" and after that becoming the Jinchuriki of Ten Tails. But even with that, he failed, or more precisely, he was deceived.

All that he believed, the world of peace he believed, was just a lie.

A lie created by the one he thought was his own creation.

Now, he is feeling how his death is closing in, with the one that once was his best friend, Hashirama Senju by his side.

Hashirama just look at his friend with sad expression. He does not want it to end like this, but it can't be helped. Their time and era is over... It's time for the new flowers to bloom while theirs fall off and act as a fertilizer for the new generation.

"You and I... Despite always reaching and aiming for the stars... We can never achieve them..." Madara struggled to speak.

Hashirama smiled sadly.

"It's never that easy! Our kinds of dreams are never easy! We can only do so much while we live... That's why it's necessary that we entrust the rest to all those who come after us.

"Heh... As naive... as usual... you've always been... that kind... of an idiot.

Madara managed to smile weakly as blood flows out from his mouth.

"But maybe... Your way... Is the right way...

"Stop talking Madara! You are-"

"It's no use, Hashirama... I'm dying, and you know it..." Madara coughed up a lot of blood before smiling weakly. "This is the price that I have to pay...

Even for an Uzumaki, when the Jinchūriki gets their Bijūū extracted from them, they inevitably die. Madara knows this well... He was the Ten-Tailed Jinchūriki after all.

"Farewell... Hashirama... My rival... My friend... May your ideals... Live on..." Madara said his final words. "It's not so bad to die under such beautiful moon light. At heart, it makes me pass away calmly.

The legendary Madara Uchiha took his last breath and closed his tired eyes forever.

A drop of water splashing down in a singular lasting drip is heard by one, and one alone. In a void of absolute darkness, the legendary shinobi Madara Uchiha awakens, his eyes snapping open in a panic and his breath turning into large desperate gasps.

He quickly turns his focus inwards and away from the deep primal nightmares that had snapped him from his sleep to steady the rhythmic pounding of his heart and the throbbing of his mind. In rapid succession he glances around, unable to tell if he's lost his sight or if this place is void of light.

For whatever reason it may be, it still didn't change the fact that unyielding darkness surrounds him, not giving token to any light. He remains laid out, on a bed of sorts — although he couldn't know for sure — feeling his breath, his heartbeat, and even the blood flowing through his veins, he manages to calm himself down for valuable thought to begin to churn.

In a more relaxed state, the silence sinks in. It's peaceful, why that's the case, eludes him. It's a strange sensation, this faultless silence. He's calmed by its embrace like he's experienced a lifetime of conflict, however, simply being calm doesn't describe it, it's something deeper and more substantial.

He doesn't remember anything though, and that very notion causes him to wonder why. Moments pass like sand in an hourglass before he looks up and glances around again with vague hopes his vision acclimated in that time. It's to no avail, he can't see even a lick of detail.

"What happened?"

He tries to think back. A tear makes it's way down his cheek and again his thoughts try to linger to why, yet, he can't recall.

He searches the innermost parts of his mind for an answer to this predicament and it felt like it was just out of sight, there has to be something. It proves pointless, there's nothing. He's unable to remember anything, not his name, not how he got here, just the feeling of emptiness that remains in an empty husk with no reason to exist.

But then as all hope of remembering seems lost, a throbbing pain abruptly enters his mind. Not dissimilar to a wave, memories flow back into their tortured owner. His face contorts into one of sheer agast, his mouth slightly parted and his eyes not wide open but filled with emotion and shock.

"That's right, I lost.

He affirms in utter devastation as he closes all three of his eyes shut.

He remembers everything and now he wishes he stayed ignorant: his time with Hashirama during the warring states period, creating the Hidden Leaf village, leaving the aforementioned village, manipulating and starting the Fourth Great Shinobi War from the shadows, and even the bitter end with Black Zetsu, all of it.

It's true, he has lost everything. Mere moments ago at the pinnacle of his power, having just accomplished his long sought-after dream of launching the [Infinite Tsukuyomi] to bring true peace to the world, he suffered a devastating and unseen betrayal at the hands of someone who he thought to be his very own will incarnate, but no, it all turned out to be a lie.

Black Zetsu was not his will — not in the slightest — but one belonging to that of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, and the [Infinite Tsukuyomi] was a farce hiding it's true intentions behind the ideal that he strived so desperately to make a reality.

He had taken the lives of many, he had destroyed the very world he swore to bring peace to it. Coming to the realization of this — Madara Uchiha, despaired.

He wanted to die.

He wanted to forget everything that had happened just now, and die.

He wanted the people all over the world to point their fingers towards him, saying that he deserved to die, and be sentenced to death penalty. He despaired upon oneself, that he had committed a sin befitting of that.

Despair, feasted upon and eroded away Madara Uchiha's heart.

He could not move. He had no right to move. Nothing good would happen even if he moved.

It had been proved. He had proved his own incompetence — no, calling it incompetence would be rather cute. Instead of that, furthermore, he had proved that he was a jinx, a pest, an angel of death.

Should despair nest into one's chest, kill one's heart, what gets eaten to ruin even before one's life is one's soul.

If that happens, then no longer would it remain possible to stand up. No longer, would it be possible to fight against anyone. Should he realise that he himself was the genuine source of anguish without being able to defy it whatsoever, it was a natural consequence.

"I want to disappear. I want to vanish. Should've decided much earlier. Before things turned into this mess. B—Before I killed all of these innocents. Before I turned into this cold hearted monster.

—In this world where he couldn't move, suddenly there was only one thing that moved. And that was –

"I love you.

—It perhaps looked like a woman shrouded by black darkness.

Darkness, it was a woman with slender limbs whose whole body was entirely dyed in black. He doesn't know whether this woman's figure was made of darkness itself or whether it was a woman that was dressed in black. He wasn't certain which one it was — it didn't seem to make any sense to choose one. In any case, it was a woman shrouded in black darkness. It was as if she was wearing a black wedding dress, with a black veil that made it impossible to see both into it and out from it. This black veil completely concealed her face.

"I love you.

However, the words which emerged from the lips of the woman who was shrouded in darkness contained an unimaginably strong emotion. If you were to concentrate every single one of your emotions into one single phrase, you would have inevitably spoken words of such effect exactly as she had done.

In those words there was quality, there was quantity, there was the sensation of time passed, there was weight, there was worth, and that was just the general concept. He doesn't know approximately how many people have uttered "I love you" in the world — but if you were to take all of those "I love you's" and put them together then it would surely be akin to this woman's "I love you."

And slowly, the woman who had been gently whispering her words of love moved her black arm towards his chest. Slender fingers pass through his chest, his skin, his flesh, right through his bones and caress his beating heart.

Several minutes, dozens of minutes, he doesn't know how much time had passed. His heart had been made aware of her presence ever since she had awakened it — but, in that moment he hadn't ever thought that he found her presence annoying. Because—

"I love you.

She had caressed Madara's heart with the same passion that was found in her whispers. But suddenly, a great shock passed through him, his body, fearing pain, was completely succumbed by it.

His pain of hundreds of battles with the Senju, the pain of his eyes when he was going blind, the pain of losing his siblings, the pain of being kicked by the Eight Iner Gate Guy, even the pain of his guilty heart when he had thought back to the innocents he had killed — all of those pains seemed insignificant compared to this pain.

He wants her to let him scream. If he could shout himself hoarse, he could alleviate the pain a little. Rather than be faced only with pain, he was able to escape some of the pain by thinking of things other than the pain he was in. Now he can't do that. He can only face his pain.

"I love you.

Her love will not let go of Madara's heart. It's like as if she had an everlasting desire to not allow him to turn his attention to things other than herself.

—It was as if she was envious of everything around him.

"ーI love you.

"Shut up. Disappear. Erase me.

"ーーI love you, I love you, I love you.

"Keep quiet. Don't talk to me. Don't get in my way of disappearing. I want to disappear, just disappear.

"ーーI love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you.

As despair ruled over Madara's heart, the world surrounding him and everything else was concealed by the black shadow, the hollow confession of love was poured onto him ceaselessly as it drew near in order to bestow punishment upon the garbage which took the form of a crouched human.

Should he be swallowed within it, would he finally disappear.

Would he sink within nihility far greater than death. Would he really be abandoned within a convenient place, like a dark space which no eyes could ever reach.

Just then Madara sensed a sudden emergence of a massive energy, a great amount of it as well. It was steadily growing in size, starting out at genin level and increasing to perhaps rival that of a Tailed Beast, or even higher.

As this chakra began to grow, a low humming noise could be heard, followed by a white light that pierced through the endless black void. The light grew, and grew, until it engulfed Madara Uchiha, and for a time, he knew no more. Madara thought he embracing oblivion, his consciousness' true end—

"Oh, God of Death, may you guide my soul to the other world and grant me eternal rest. Otherwise, prepare yourself and your Hell, to suffer for all of eternity.

— However, that wasn't what the shadowy figure had in store for him.

And so Madara humed. Actually, that was not supposed to be muttered aloud because — well, he was supposed to be dead.

"What the hell?"

In front of him, he saw a pair of legs, they were small and bare. It took him a few minutes, then he realize that those are his legs. Madara Uchiha, who is supposed to be drifting in the Impure World forever, has just been born again, presumably as another being that isn't Human. Madara jumped to such a conclusion.

"Why…why…..Why am I alive, again?"

He heard the thump-thump thump-thump thump-thump sound. It took him another minute to realize that it is the sound of his heart. But he also picked up the sound of another heart?

"Is there someone else here? My siblings perhaps? Yes, it's my sibling it seems. There is competition in this belly. She seems less mature than I am form the feel of her energy. She will probably be born at least 20-to-30 minutes later than me. It would seem that I'm going to be an older bother again.

Suddenly, Madara felt tired.

"Probably from picking up too much information while being an infant. Such hard work. Back to the matter at hands, why am I, who is supposed to be dead, living as an infant dwelling inside a woman's belly with a twin sister no less? Just why? Why? Why? Why? Does that shadow who kept telling that she loved me non-stop have to do something with this? Even though I wanted to die and finally see Izuna again, why can't I have eternal rest? And of all things, to be reincarnated as a infant.

Of course there was no one there to answer his questions.

"So, until I am free from my mother's womb, which will take some time, there is nothing I can do about it.

But then it strikes him. After regaining the conscious of his thoughts, he asked himself a question—

"—Will there really be a meaning in living again? My parents and twin sister will surely be happy that I was born, right?"

While thinking, through the liquid in his mother's womb, and layers of muscles and skin, he realized that his soon-to-be family seems to be talking about what happened today.

Apparently, according to the conversation outside, he has been reincarnated into a world where instead of Chakra they used some form of energy that they called Magic.

"Interesting. It is less potent and powerful than Chakra, but it seems that it can be used for more things that Chakra could be used.

But there seems something to be bothering him about his current parents — through his mother seems to be human; his father was not, Madara didn't not know what his father was. He had never felt energy so pure before, not even Hashirama's or that blond brat was this pure.

"So it seems that I'm a half-born, and god damnit it feels uncomfortable and very difficult to make movement inside such a cramp space. How do babies live with this for nine months?"

Right now, his physical form is but a fetus floating inside amniotic fluid but his mind is that of the legendary Madara Uchiha.

As a normal fetus, there is absolutely nothing he can do inside here, but he is no normal fetus, because he already has done the impossible at such a physical state; thinking.

"Even though I reincarnated, I definitely feel that a part of my soul is damaged. It's not to the extent where my life will be in danger, it is far from it. However, it is definitely noticeable.

It had been several months since he realized that he was a fetus inside of a Human woman's belly.

"It won't be too long until the day I will be born into this world as a baby. Will life have a purpose?"

The thoughts of decadence and resignation from living continue to filled his mind. He wondered if his mind would be free from these negative thoughts. He continued to think inside the woman who is his Mom-to-be.

Not long after, his mother finally gave birth to him; a strong healthy baby.

As the water is being wiped across his eyes, he forced them to open and took a look around with his unfocused eyes. When his eyes focused, the appearance of a man and woman with gentle smiles was projected in his vision.

When his eyes focused, Madara saw that he was being held alongside his father and looked straight into his father's eyes. Silver-hair, pointy ears, blue pupils and amethyst sclerae— "It is as I suspected, he isn't human.

He turned his head around and locked eyes with his mother who was still in bed waiting for his sister to be born.

Being small, from his perspective, they are giants, and of course with the adult perspective still in effect, Madara, for a moment thought they were Titans.

Moments pass and his mother finally gave birth to his sister. Breathing hard and sweating due to strain that the birth of two children had caused.

He could see his Mother's smile clearly as she was filled with joy that they were finally born and from being relived from the pain she was suffering while giving birth to them.

His father approached the bed laying down Madara on his mothers' left chest whereas his sister was laying in her right chest; her teary amethyst eyes locking with Madara's own amethyst eyes.

"Thanks the Gods! Fufufu. Hello, my baby's.

As his parents and his crying sister continued to watch him, a sense of ease, free of worries filled Madara. When his Mother gently touched him, it calmed him down greatly.

"He doesn't seem to cry very much. It's better if he cried a little more like his sister, it makes me want to cuddle him more.

His mother caressed his cheek as she said so. Right now, there is still little he can do and so, being held by his mother is what he will enjoy.

"My child, you'll be named Madara, and your sister's name will be Emilia. I am your mommy. Now, say hello to Papa.

He's not sure if it is the fact that they are related by blood but right now, he is experiencing a mysterious feeling he has never felt since Izuna died.

For him who was just been reborn; he had received warmth from his current parents and never had he ever felt as peaceful as he is now since Izuna was alive. He was tired of a long life of only suffering, futility and pain; of that world that took everything from him. Instead of being given eternal sleep; he was given a second chance in another world that had led him to experience the warmth of a family once again.

His eyes darted to the crying Emilia, compulsively burning into his brain the sight of those soft features and pure innocence exuding from his baby sister. With hesitant fingers — bloodied hands that only brought forth unimaginable terror and misery to others — and then with his left hand he caressed Emilia' cheek; making her tears coming to a halt immediately.

"Maybe, just maybe, this time I will live peacefully and I promise I will protect you with all I've got; my little sister.

Madara made a weird face that made his little sister let out a small laugh which in turn he cracked a cute smile as well.

"Honey look! Madara smiled!"

"A healthy, strong and cheerful boy. I am glad you two were born Madara, Emilia.

"I am laughing now? Haha, since when was the last time I laughed? There may be some worth living another life after all.
