Hey everyone, it's Greywolf44, and welcome to the start of Power Rangers Wild Energy! Enjoy the beginning of the story and I will explain more at the end.
Chapter 1: Rise of the Robots
It was just a normal day in Sunset Beach, Florida. The sun's high in the sky with no chance of rain, downtown was filled to the brim with people enjoying their day. For the teens of Sunset Beach, it was the last week before school started. The city college just started it's second week, so the city was filled with college students from around the world. The beaches were crowded with either locals or tourists, it was a normal day. But for one archaeologist, his normal day had nothing to do with Sunset Beach.
In the woods a few miles north of Sunset Beach, a lone man is walking through, carefully observing his surroundings. The man was 6'0, with black hair with the front parted to the left a little. He had blue eyes and was wearing brown pants with boots, a grey shirt and brown jacket. The man is 35 years old and he looked comfortable as he has been here multiple times hoping to make a breakthrough in his archaeology research. The archaeologist is Dr. Joshua Ashford, a college professor at Sunset Beach University back in the city. Dr. Ashford comes to the woods once a week in hopes of discovering something buried to not only present in his class, but to find remnants of what the city was a long time ago.
Dr. Ashford carry his shovel with him as he scans the surrounding area. While he likes finding small stuff here and there like old coins or torn fabric from when Sunset Beach was established in the early 1900's, but he had a bigger goal in mind. For the last five years, Dr. Ashford has been searching for an ancient relic that predates even the city's founding. Despite lack of proof, Dr. Ashford has a theory that there was an ancient city that predated Sunset Beach. He hoped that the woods would have something lost and forgotten.
"This spot should do," the professor muttered to himself.
Dr. Ashford takes his shovel and starts digging. After an hour of digging a few spots around the surrounding area, the professor found nothing. He found a few coins and even a lost lighter some campers probably lost, but to Dr. Ashford, this was nothing.
"Damn it, still nothing. Not even a clue," he signed while he put a hand on his head. "It has to be somewhere around here."
Dr. Ashford's phone then ringed. Ashford answered the phone to see it was one of his students, Terry.
"Hey Doc, I know you hate students calling your cell, but I wanted to remind you we had a tutoring session at this time, and you wouldn't answer your email," Terry said.
Dr. Ashford's eyes widen and looked at his watch. It was 5:30, he had been here for a few hours and lost track of time.
"Sorry Terry, I been out of the house and lost track of time. Do you want to reschedule until 7:00 later on tonight?"
"That works, see you then," Terry responded as he hanged up.
Dr. Ashford signed. He has to be more careful, he can't let his dream and passion get in the way of his professional work. With that, Dr. Ashford decided that was enough for today. As he started to walk back to his car, he couldn't stop thinking. It was his dream to prove his theory and he will never stop trying. Today was just another day and next week could be the day. But then Dr. Ashford's eyes laid on the ground, he had an urge to dig even more, determined to find what he was looking for. But Dr. Ashford knew he spent enough time out here, but the urge was strong.
'Maybe one more time,' the professor thought in his mind.
Dr. Ashford put his shovel into the dirt and started digging. It was almost an obsession, but the archaeologist couldn't help himself. If he finds even one relic of an ancient civilization that was before Sunset Beach, it can change how everything was believed in the country, especially in Florida. This could be the start of research into if more civilizations exist in the country long before the Native Americans inhabited the world. After a few minutes, Dr. Ashford's shovel hit something metal.
"It can't be!" Dr. Ashford yelled in shock.
The professor quickly started to dig around the hole until a metal box was seen in the hole. The box was silver and made of metal. It was around the size of a regular briefcase. The most interesting part was a black fang embedded on the top of the metal box. With anticipation, Dr. Ashford reached into the hole and pulled out the box. He was almost certain this was something he was looking for.
"I finally found it, now let's see what's inside. See if my theory is true," the professor said.
Dr. Ashford opened the box and immediately, he felt a strange rush of invisible energy come out of the box, and he felt it passed through him and around the woods. Dr. Ashford turned his head around in shock as he heard the roar of a nearby animal.
'Was that from the box?' He thought
Dr. Ashford then gazed into the box. Inside were five square looking objects with straps underneath. Each one a different color, but each radiating power. The professor's eyes widen when he realized some of the strange devices were missing.
"Ten spots, but they are only five of them? Where can the others be? I'll find them eventually, but in the meantime, I finally found them," he said with a smile.
Dr. Ashford knew what he found. After all, he grew up in Angel Grove and seen the Power Rangers first hand. When Astronema attacked Angel Grove, he seen the Power Rangers morphed in clear view. He figured they used morphers to transform. When he drafted his ancient city theory, he played with the idea that they used a different set of morphers to defend their home. Dr. Ashford's theory was right, because right in front of him in the metal box were five new Power Rangers morphers.
Around 10 miles from where Dr. Ashford found the morphers, lies an abandoned warehouse deep within the woods outside Sunset Beach. On the outside, it's a normal warehouse, it was gray and a couple of stories tall. But inside, the warehouse housed a secret. Inside the warehouse was a secret laboratory. The dark room held at least 50 life sized test tubes around the whole building. Each test tube had an unknown inhabitant inside resting. Besides the tubes, the warehouse had everything a normal lab would have. There was a chemistry room, a security/monitor room, a control center where everything could be controlled from, a storage room, a room for random machine parts and gadgets and many more scattered within. Also littered in the warehouse/laboratory were strange devices and gadgets along the room. The warehouse had looked abandoned for years. No one knows who built it or what the purpose is. It would remain dormant and undisturbed until the fateful day Dr. Ashford made his discovery.
All of a sudden, the mysterious energy from earlier passed through the whole warehouse and everything turned on like a light switch. The lights suddenly turned on, the machines and gadgets came to life. But most sinisterly, the unknown inhabitants have awoken. In the main Control Center of the lab, there were five test tubes and one by one, red eyes appeared through the glass. The tubes were arranged side by side and they all began shaking. The inhabitants want out. Eventually in the center tube, a silver metallic hand punched through the glass and the door of the tube shattered into pieces. The figure walked out of the tube for the first time in a long time. He was a silver metallic robot. He was at least 6'5 with a hulking mass of body. He was tall, and had a strong robotic muscular appearance. The robot had crimson streaks along it's body. The robot had a skull looking robotic head compete with two sharp horns on the sides of it's head. The most terrifying part was the robot's red eyes. His glare looked like it could pierced hearts.
"I'm free," the robot muttered in a low sinister voice.
"Lord Xanek!" A voice shouted from the tube next to Xanek's.
The silver robot Xanek turned around and watch as a blue strong built robot bursted through his test tube. The robot was a little bit shorter than Xanek and was blue with grey streaks. The robot had two swords strapped to his back and had a head resembling an armored warrior. Like his leader, the robot had red eyes. The blue robot kneeled in front of Xanek.
"Nexus, my second in command," Xanek said.
"Our remaining generals should be busting out now my lord," Nexus said.
"Perfect," the silver robot said.
Xanek watched as one by one, his remaining generals all burst through their tubes. The three recently awakened robots stood together side by side facing Xanek as they walked over to their leader. The robot on the left was purple with pink streaks and had a more feminine figure than her fellow generals. The purple robot had sharp nails on her hands and a robotic ponytail on her head with the signature red eyes.
The robot on the right was green and had a strong figure although a little less than Nexus. The green robot had yellow streaks across it's body with a head resembling a human with science googles welded to his head above his face along with red eyes.
The last robot in the center was red with black streaks across his body. He had a smaller body built than Nexus and Xanek but was bigger than the other two. The robot had a baton strapped to his back along with a humanoid head with a black mohawk. The robot's red eyes almost blended with his color. All three generals kneeled with Nexus in front of Xanek.
"Talus, my manipulative warrior," Xanek says to the red bot.
"Scyther, my strategist," Xanek motions to the purple bot.
"Corius, my head of science and machines," Xanek says to the green bot.
"You all may stand."
The four generals stood up to face their leader.
"Lord Xanek, how long have we been out of commission?" Scyther questioned.
"Far too long," Xanek responded.
"I barely remembered anything," muttered Corius. "All I remember is being shut off by the one that created us."
"Weird, I don't even remember who our creator is," Talus added.
"And it will stay that way!" Yelled Xanek. "Our creator tried to stop us, tried to shut us down, tried to stop our quest. As far as I'm concerned we have no creator from now on. Is that understood?"
"Yes Lord Xanek!" Shouted the generals.
Xanek walked around the Control Center, his generals following. Xanek took his time to get adjusted. As powerful as they are, they been gone a long time.
"My lord how much do you remember?" Questioned Nexus.
"Almost everything. I remembered everything up to our last moments."
"And your plan sir?" Questioned Talus.
Xanek would smiled if he could. "I remember every detail. Now that we're free, we can finally put our plan into motion."
Xanek left the Control Center to see the massive amount of test tubes scattered through the lab. The test tubes held the remainder of Xanek's army.
"My army, they still lie in slumber. Corius, can you revive them, revive my Gizbots and our lieutenants?" Xanek asked.
"It will take a couple of hours to learn the system. But I can do it sir, I can revive all of them." Corius remarked.
"No, not all of them," Scyther interjected.
"What!?" Xanek said, his tempter already rising.
"Lord Xanek as your strategist, I must advise against this. I believe since we just awakened, we should release a few Gizbots. Get used to our surroundings, then we unleash our army in waves," Scyther said.
Xanek put a hand on his chin and considered what Scyther said. There was a reason Scyther was programmed as a strategist, the robot had a brilliant mind. Xanek signed.
"Very well," the robot conceded.
Xanek went back to the Control Center followed again by his generals. With a wave of his hand, Corius immediately went to the control console and booted up the system. With the push of a few buttons the robot had the map of Sunset Beach posted on the large screen at the front of the room. They were also many camera locations throughout the city to monitor everything. How that was possible is unknown.
"Lord Xanek, this backwater of a city is the closest one," Corius reported.
"Yes, this would do nicely. Corius, get the system all good to go and when ready, unleash a whole group of Gizbots on the city!" Xanek ordered
Corius nodded.
"Sir, if I may, how are we going to transport the Gizbots into the city?" Talus asked.
"Allow me," Corius said as he pushed a few buttons. A giant elevator like machine in the Control Center suddenly opened up.
"Is that what I think it is?" Talus questioned.
"Yes, it's a transporter, it was built along with this lab. This is how we transport our troops," Corius explained.
"Excellent! First, we conquer and destroy Sunset Beach, then world domination and the extinction of the human race will finally come! Finally we can show that robots will always be superior! My generals, this is the start of our uprising!" Xanek yelled as the robot gave a robotic laugh that ringed throughout the whole warehouse.
A couple of hours later
Sunset Beach is a huge city. It's made up of five different districts. In the west lies the Suburbs. The Suburbs is made up of almost all of the residential areas in the city. Most of the city's schools were in the suburbs too, along with various shops, restaurants, malls, and anything a teen dreams of. To the east lies the Beach District. Sunset Beach is known for it's beaches and is a popular tourist destination. The Beach District is known for it's beaches, luxury housing, piers, yacht clubs and any beachside shops and restaurants. To the north lies the Entertainment District. The district is made up of all the casinos, professional sports arenas, and even a huge amusement park in the edge of the city. Various attractions even include parks, a zoo, and an aquarium too. To the south lies the University District. The districts houses Sunset Beach University, a huge college and the surrounding area includes all the various Greek Life houses, dorms and college restaurants and bars. And finally, in the center of the city, lies Downtown. The district is know for it's big skyscrapers and buildings. Everything business related has a spot downtown. The district also has it's share of restaurants and apartments as well as a few entertainment options to make Downtown a go to place. Unfortunately, Downtown is now in agony.
As Xanek ordered, a portion of the tyrant's army, the Gizbots were unleashed on the city. The Gizbots were were 5'8 black and grey foot soldiers to Xanek's army. The robots were mostly humanoid except for a grey bolt shaped head and there were many of them. The Gizbots were chasing people away, some, were firing their small blasters into cars. A few of them even carried little swords to destroy any businesses in the area. It was a terrible sight. The police were trying to defuse the situation but they didn't know how to handle their new threat. The police that were left standing were heavily wounded in their fight about the Gizbots. The Gizbots, like robots, lack feelings and emotions, they just live to obey their leader. And then suddenly, when the robots had their fun, all the Gizbots were suddenly transported back to their base. The citizens at the scene stare straight into the street, through the damaged district. Thankfully the damage was repairable and wasn't too bad but what was done is done. The residents of Sunset Beach don't know their foe, they only know one thing, they will be back and the damage will get worse.
Dr. Ashford was in his home in the Suburbs when he saw the news on tv. Dr. Ashford sat in his chair just staring at the tv. The news station was reporting in the Gizbots attack on Downtown. Dr. Ashford watched as businesses were destroyed, people were tormented, and the Gizbots didn't stopped until they eventually disappear. Ashford turned the tv off and buried his head in his heads. Dr. Ashford was disturbed by two things, who or what the robots were and how they got there.
"Did that mysterious energy from earlier do this?" He mused.
It can't be, that energy wave had to be nothing right? The Professor thought to himself, but he signed again. He knew he felt something and knew it couldn't be a coincidence that robots attacked the same day he discovered the morphers. He looked to his right and the metal box was sitting on the kitchen table. Eventually, Dr. Ashford yelled in frustration.
"What have I done?!"
Dr. Ashford got up from his chair and started to pace.
'That mysterious energy from when I opened the box, I don't know what it did but it must have been responsible for the robots, it must have.'
Dr. Ashford keeps pacing. He knew what he did and he knows more than ever what he must do. The problem is, what can he do? He's just a regular college professor. He can't fight against the robots and certainly not alone. His gaze suddenly locks on the metal box. He opens it again and takes another look at the morphers. There were five of them. Dr. Ashford puts up a small smirk.
"I know exactly what I must do to fight the robots."
Two weeks later
The sun was rising in the sky as the second week of school starts for the teens of Sunset Beach High. There was apprehension about starting the school year after the Gizbot attack. But after days of peace, the school decided to open and it's been two weeks since the Gizbot attack. Sunset Beach High School is one of the many schools in the area, but arguably the biggest. With a population of over 2,000 students, the student body was pretty big. An interesting fact was that almost half of the student body were athletes. Sunset Beach High has an reputation for offering a wide variety of sports from football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, lacrosse, hockey, golf, swimming, track and field, cross country, tennis, and softball. It's pretty clear that Sunset Beach High is a sports school.
It was 7:30 a.m., a half hour from the start of first period when a red Dodge Challenger pulled into the school parking lot. The Challenger pulled into the nearest empty spot and parked. Inside the car were two people. The driver was a 6'2 Caucasian boy with brown hair with a little bit spiked up the front with brown eyes. The teen was wearing dark blue jeans, black shoes, a red t-shirt, along with a black varsity football jacket with white sleeves. The jacket had SBH on the left part of the jacket along with the number 11 on the sleeves. On the right patch of the jacket was the last name Marshall. The teen, Dante Marshall shut his car off.
"Well Kylie, here we are," he smiled to his passenger.
Sitting next to the boy was his girlfriend Kylie Kennedy. Kylie was a 5'8 Caucasian girl with long brown hair with a orange headband on her head and brown eyes. Kylie wore dark grey jeans, white shoes, along with a white long sleeve shirt with a orange flannel jacket wrapped around her waist. Kylie is also a member of the school's tennis team.
"Thanks for the ride, Dante," Kylie responded.
"Anything for you," Dante said before the two leaned in for a kiss.
The couple got out of Dante's car and began the trek to the front doors of the school. Dante and Kylie eventually entered the massive school. Sunset Beach High was three stories tall with the front lobby being a massive hub for students. In the lobby lie one of the many sports trophy cases the school takes pride in showing. Dante signed, it was his senior year and he couldn't believe it was going by this fast. He took Kylie's hand.
"Are you sure you don't want to skip Chesterfield and come hang out in Parker's class with me?" Dante asked.
Kylie laughed. "Normally I would love to, but you suck at math babe. I would be a huge distraction."
"But you would be a good distraction," Dante added.
Kylie laughed even harder. "Jesus Dante, you're too much! Look, I will see you during lunch."
Dante gave Kylie another kiss. "I look forward to that."
And with that, the couple separated to go to their respective classes. Dante went to his locker real quick before a couple of his football teammates tackled him to the ground.
"Get your head in the game, captain!" Dante's friend Lucas yelled. Dante was also one of the captains for the team.
"Get off me bro!" Dante said trying not to laugh. "Practice is hours away, dude."
Dante's other friend Malik helped Dante up. "Sorry brother, but Lucas here insisted that we did it."
Dante grabbed both his friends. "It doesn't matter guys. Let's get through the day and then we're on the field. We need to work our asses off if we're going to beat Reefside this Friday!" He said in excitement.
With that, the three friends laughed their way into first period.
There's nothing that Jalen Palmer hated more than class. He wasn't a bad student, but he had a hard time keeping his mind concentrated. Ironically, even though Jalen's not a top 10 student, he has one of the hardest work mentality in the class. Jalen dreams of getting a basketball scholarship, and he will work himself to death if he has to in order to achieve that. Besides, he's extremely grateful to Sunset Beach High for giving him the opportunity to play basketball, the least he can do is do his best and not waste the opportunity he was given. Jalen is sitting in his first period class listening to his teacher talked. Jalen is a 6'0 boy with light brown skin with short black hair on the top of his head. Jalen was wearing red basketball shoes, grey basketball shorts and a blue tank top. Jalen plays shooting guard on the school's basketball team.
'At least Dawson is a good teacher,' he thought in his head.
Jalen's teacher Mr. Dawson was teaching the class about Romeo and Juliet. What separates Dawson from most teachers is the enthusiasm he has for the subject he teaches. The man was loud and clear and was not afraid to crack a few jokes along the way.
"Ok class, in this part of the story, a crucial part happens. Romeo duels and kills Tybalt, but originally he didn't want to fight him because he considers him family for being related to Juliet. This relates to me because I hate my brother in law, but I won't hurt the man because he's my wife's brother. And I don't want to sleep on the couch," Dawson explains.
The class including Jalen laughs at Mr. Dawson's joke.
"Now, my question is, why did Romeo changed his mind? Jalen, do you know why?" Dawson asked as extends his hand to Jalen.
Jalen signed, Dawson has a habit of calling people out but thankfully he knew the answer.
"Well Mr. Dawson, Tybalt killed Romeo's friend Mercutio and you got to have your friend's back no matter what," Jalen answered.
"Excellent! Now personally do you think it's worth getting exiled and worth killing his own girlfriend's cousin?"
"Hey, he loved Juliet but he had his friend's back to the end and I respect that. He risked his own life for Mercutio, so yeah I kind of do, but I felt bad for the Capulets," Jalen responded.
Mr. Dawson smiled. "That class is an example of a perfect moral and personal question. Great job Jalen."
Jalen smiled, this was one of the many reasons why Dawson is his favorite teacher even though it's only the second week.
It was then homeroom a couple of hours later. Homeroom was literally a 20 minute free period to get caught up with friends and homework while the announcements were said on the loudspeaker. The desks were filled with various students talking to each other and waiting for the bell to ranged. Selena Shepherd was one of the students talking to her friends for the period. Selena was a 5'8 Caucasian girl with dark brown hair that extended to below her shoulders and she had dark brown eyes. Selena wore a pink v-neck shirt with a pink short sleeved jacket and blue jeans and white shoes. Selena was also on the school's volleyball team as a outside hitter. Selena was spending her homeroom talking to her friends Eliza and Kayla.
"What did you get on the history test?" Eliza asked as she checked her phone.
"85, I thought it wasn't that bad as a start, it could have been worse," Selena replied.
Kayla rolled her eyes. "I got a C even though I studied."
Selena and Eliza looked at each other and laughed.
"Ok Kayla, how much did you actually studied?" Selena asked.
"A few hours," Kayla responded.
"I don't buy it Selena," Eliza said.
"Neither do I Eliza."
"Fine a half hour. But you try balancing cheerleading and school," Kayla protested.
"I mean, I balance volleyball and school and I do just fine. You just got to plan things out ahead," Selena explained.
"I guess so. Anyway, changing the subject. Cheer practice got postponed and me and Eliza are hitting the mall after school. You coming Selena?" Kayla asked.
"I wish, but I got practice after school," Selena said. "We definitely need to do something this weekend though."
"Oh that's so happening! But to be honest Selena, I think you spend too much time on volleyball," Eliza said.
Selena just smiled. "Girls, I just love the game."
The bell then ranged.
"Catch you all later," Selena said as she got up. Selena takes her bag and leaves homeroom to head into her next period.
'So far so good,' Selena thought.
It was her last year and she was still unsure where she would go next year. Hell, Selena wasn't even sure if she would continue volleyball next year. She loves the sport but college is extremely competitive and Selena isn't sure she wants to be part of something so competitive it can take time away from school.
'Well you got a whole year to think about it,' Selena thought as she walked into her next class.
Selena knows whatever choice she makes, it will be the right one. After all, only she can decide what to do. It's her life and she's running it her way.
Chemistry is definitely one of the hardest classes that Sunset Beach High requires students to complete. Its complicated structure has confused many students. Logan Armstrong is one of the many confused students. Logan is currently in his third period class trying to process anything his teacher Mr. Chesterfield says. Logan is a 6'0 Caucasian boy with short black hair parted to the side along with blue eyes. Logan was wearing jeans, black shoes, a white and black t-shirt, and black short sleeve hoodie with the hood currently down. Logan was also on the school's baseball team as a pitcher. Logan groaned as his teacher continued his lecture.
"God this class sucks," he muttered underneath his breath.
Logan's grades are above average but chemistry has proven to be tough in the short time he has been in the class. Logan knows he has to pass this class. His coach was strict on grades and even though Logan has talent, he will bench Logan without hesitation if he doesn't have the grades.
'Chemistry, who invented this stupid subject anyway?' He said in his mind.
Logan is trying to focus on the class, but the longer time goes on, the more he wants to daydream anything baseball related to get through the class. But eventually the urge is too strong.
"Ahh screw it, five minutes isn't going to hurt anybody," he whispered.
Logan kept his eyes open but his mind soon stopped focusing on the classroom and soon he was imagining himself as pitcher in the major leagues. Logan imagines that if he pitches another strike, his team wins the World Series. With a deep breath, Logan throws the baseball with all his might. The ball flies through the air, the batter attempts to hit it but his efforts were in vain as the catcher catches the ball. The game was over. Logan imagined the crowd going crazy before an real shout breaks into his fantasy.
"Alex, Trevor! What are you doing?" Mr. Chesterfield suddenly shouts.
Logan blinked and snapped himself out of his daydream. He turn his head to the left and rolled his eyes at the two boys his teacher just yelled at. Alex Lockhart and Trevor Whittaker are two best friends who are also total idiots. The two mean well and are good students but almost every attempt to either flirt with girls, cheat on a difficult test, scam other students, or just goofing off always backfire right in their face. Alex is a boy with black hair spiked at the top and brown eyes and he is wearing a light blue polo and brown cargo shorts. Trevor is a boy with short dirty blond hair with blue eyes and he is wearing a red t-shirt with jeans. Both the boys looked nervous as Mr. Chesterfield approached them.
Logan chuckled as the teacher lectured them on using their cell phones in the class. He also didn't appreciate any of the texts the boys sent that insulted the teacher. A minute later, Alex and Trevor got detention as the class resumed.
'You know, maybe this won't be that bad. I just have to keep myself in check,' Logan said in his mind as he returned to listening to the lesson.
It was now lunchtime at Sunset Beach High. The school cafeteria was packed with students trying get lunch or trying to find a table to sit. Natalie Greyson exits the food area with her tray, her best friend Taylor close behind. Natalie is a 5'7 Caucasian girl with long blond hair and blue eyes. Natalie was wearing a yellow striped t-shirt, blue jean shorts, and black and yellow shoes. Natalie was also wearing a small star necklace. Natalie also plays for the school's soccer team as a midfielder. Natalie and Taylor walk through the crowed cafeteria together.
"Hey Natalie, you won't believe what happened in my chem class during third period," Taylor said.
"Ok tell me, I'm curious," Natalie said with a smirk.
"Alex and Trevor got detention again," Taylor said with a laugh.
Natalie laughed a little. "That's nothing new, but I do feel bad for them though, it's not their fault things backfired."
The girls then sat down at their lunch table with their friends and fellow soccer teammates Kira, Rachel, and Madison. Natalie's phone then buzzed as she put her tray down. She reached for phone and opened it. Her boyfriend Mark had sent a text telling her that he missed her.
Natalie smiled even more. 'I miss you more,' she said in her mind as she texted him back.
"Earth to Nat!" Madison yelled.
Natalie jumped. "Sorry girls what did I missed?"
"We were all discussing where we should go Friday night, we actually don't have any conditioning or practice that day," Taylor said.
"We could try hitting up one of the restaurants on Seastone Avenue in Downtown," Natalie suggested.
"Ooh, I like that," Rachel chimed in.
Kira smiled. "Then we're all in agreement."
The girls continued to eat their lunch until a student yelled. Natalie's head jolt to the sound and there were two boys in the middle of the cafeteria. The bigger boy had tripped his smaller classmate and the small boy was now covered in his own food.
The bigger boy laughed. "Wow Andrew, I didn't know you love spaghetti that much!" The boy was Pete Starkman, Sunset Beach High's resident bully.
Unfortunately he was picking on the boy he torments most, Andrew Johnson.
"Just leave me alone Pete," Andrew muttered. Pete just kept laughing.
Natalie's blood boiled. She's normally a nice girl, but she hates bullies like Pete.
"Girls, I swear one of these days I might slap Pete," Natalie said.
"Natalie, you would definitely kick his ass any day of the week, but you know it's not worth getting suspend," Taylor said.
Natalie signs. "I know," she said as she took a bite of her food.
Natalie hated standing around and doing nothing when someone needed help. It's like an instinct where she wanted to help anyway she can and not let bullies like Pete win. But Natalie knows it's not worth it. Sometimes, Natalie wonder if there was a way for her to protect people without the risk of getting in trouble. Natalie then finished her food and grabbed her bag as the bell ranged to let everyone know to head to their next class.
After a few hours, it was finally the end of the day. Most of the students flood the parking lot to either drive away or wait for their ride home on the bus. For the student athletes of Sunset Beach, it was time for their daily practice. Dante is one of the many students practicing around the school. Dante and his teammates were practicing on the large grass field that was next to their main football field behind the school. Dante plays wide receiver on the football team as he lines up on the line of scrimmage. Dante and his teammates were all wearing white pants, white practice jerseys over their pads and their black helmets since the school's colors were black and blue. Dante kept his mind on his opponent in front of him, he needed to run the play perfectly if he wanted to escape his defender. Mark Lancaster, the quarterback of the team, gets into his position waiting for their coach, Sherman Morris, to blow the whistle.
"Alright boys, play with everything you got, and we can end practice for today," Coach Morris announced. He then blew his whistle hard.
"Hike!" Mark yelled as the ball is snapped to him.
Dante sprinted towards the cornerback in front of him. When he got close, he suddenly shift right into a slant as the corner back struggled to keep up with Dante.
'Come on Lancaster, I'm open,' Dante said in his mind as Mark tries to find a receiver.
Mark then spots Dante and throws the ball hard at Dante's direction. Dante jumps to catch the ball and takes off. The only thing stopping Dante from a touchdown was the safety coming out of nowhere to tackle him. Morris then called everyone over for a huddle. Morris congratulated everyone on a good practice before the team was dismissed. Dante was about to leave when Coach Morris put a hand on his shoulder.
"Not so fast, Marshall. Come with me to my office, I got a letter for you."
"A letter? Right away coach," Dante responded as he follows his coach back to the gym where his office was located.
Jalen was driving towards the basket on the court in the gym. He normally would have gone with a three pointer, but he sees an opportunity for a good play. As he near the basket, he throws the ball up in the air, only for his teammate, center Damon McCoy to catch the ball in midair and dunks it into the basket. Jalen quickly runs to his side to defend the court from the opposing team. It was only a practice game against the other members of his team, but to Jalen, he will always treat it like a real game. Jalen runs up to intercept his opponent and shuffles his feet to keep the player from passing him. The player then tried to pass the ball.
"I don't think so," Jalen said as he read his opponent's movement.
Jalen blocks his opponent's pass and steals the ball for his team. He launches a pass to his teammate Eddie and runs down the court. As Eddie drives to the basket, Jalen notices an open lane and runs to it to get open. Eddie sees Jalen and passes the ball right to Jalen. The opposing team were shocked to see Jalen and they couldn't do anything as he made the open three pointer. Jalen's shot gets his team three points and the win of the practice game.
"Alright everyone, huddle up!" Coach Brian Underwood, coach of the team yells.
The team gathers around him.
"Good hustle guys, we got a long way to go until the season starts in January. But keep up the work and you will all be ready. You're all free to go except Jalen, I got something for him."
Jalen raised his eyebrows in confusion. What could the coach have to give him?
Logan was sitting in his baseball's coach office. What his coach said confused him. Why would he have a letter to give to him?
"As I said back on the field Logan. I got a letter for you," explained Christopher Smith, Logan's coach.
"Coach, do you know who sent it? This is all out of the blue," Logan said.
Coach Smith shook his head. "No I don't. I came in today and it was in my mailbox and written to you. If you ask me, I think it's something good if it was sent to me. So don't even worry about it."
Logan nodded. "Thanks coach, I'll let you know about what it said."
Coach Smith nodded. "Anytime Logan, thank care."
Logan nodded and shook his coach's hand before he departed his office. He went back to the locker room and got changed back to regular clothing. After grabbing all his things, Logan went straight to his car in the school parking lot. As he got into his black Chevy Camaro, he still had the letter in his hand.
"Alright, let's see what this is about," Logan muttered.
Logan opened the letter and inside was a note. It was professional looking and it got Logan's attention. As he read the whole thing, his jaw dropped and his eyes widen.
"Holy shit!" Logan yelled.
Natalie was in her team's locker room when she got her letter from her coach. She was also shocked after reading it. The words in the letter were still fresh in her mind as she rereads it to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
"Dear Natalie Greyson, My name is James Franklin, I'm an athletic recruiter for Sunshine State University. On behalf of me and the school, we loved watching your soccer highlights and we think you will be a great fit on our university's soccer team. I'm sorry this is last minute, but I would love to meet you in person today to discuss the possibility of awarding you a scholarship to play soccer for the school with your tuition being taken care of. We believe you are a excellent athlete who will be an asset to the school. Please meet me at 1993 Stonebridge Blvd in Downtown Sunset Beach at 6:00 P.M. I have set up an office there thanks to a friend. We will talk more in person, I hope to you there. Best, James Franklin, Recruiting Director."
Natalie couldn't believe it. Sunshine State University is considered one of the top D1 sports colleges in the state. The letter looked real so if this is true, she could have the opportunity to play soccer at the college level.
'I can't pass up this opportunity. If it's real, this could have an huge impact on my life,' she thought in her mind.
Selena was exiting the school's front doors, her mind still in shock after reading her letter. She could possibly get a scholarship for the sport she loved. She was snapped out of her trance when her teammate Alyssa walked up to her.
"Good practice Selena," she greeted.
"Thanks Alyssa, you too."
"Out of curiosity, why did Coach Olsen wanted to see you?" Alyssa questioned.
Selena hold out the letter she got as Alyssa read it.
"Oh my god, Selena this is amazing! Are you going to meet him?"
"Of course I am," Selena responded. "This is too good to pass up, especially if my tuition is being taken care of."
"Yeah you have to, like this is once in a lifetime crazy!" Alyssa said.
"I agree with you. I was actually on my way to the interview right now," Selena said.
"Good luck Selena, I hope you get it," Alyssa said.
"Thanks Alyssa, see you tomorrow," Selena said.
Selena said goodbye to Alyssa and started to head to her car. If she wanted to meet this guy, she better get Downtown as soon as she can. If everything goes right, she may never have to worry about college.
It was 5:50 as Dante pulls into 1993 Stonebridge Blvd's parking lot. The building looked like a regular office building like the others in Downtown Sunset Beach. The office had 20 floors and it looked professional, but the parking lot was empty except for a few cars. Dante looked at the time, he figured it was late enough for the staff to go home. A convenient time to meet. Dante parked his car in the first couple of rows from the building.
'I have to nail this interview. This scholarship can mean everything to me,' Dante thought as he turned his car off.
As Dante walked to the building's front doors, he noticed three other teenagers too. While Dante didn't know who they were, the teens were Logan, Selena, and Jalen. Selena was the first to notice him.
"Hi, are you here for the interview too?" Selena asked.
"Yeah I guess we all got one," Dante responded.
"Well, nice to meet you. I'm Selena Shepherd," Selena said as she extended her hand.
Dante smiled and shook it. "I'm Dante Marshall."
Logan stepped forward. "What's up man, I'm Logan Armstrong."
Jalen introduced himself as well. "I'm Jalen Palmer. You know Dante, I think we go to the same school based on your jacket."
Dante's eyebrows raised. "You go to Sunset Beach High too?" Jalen nodded.
"Wait a second," Logan said as he pointed to Dante. "I think we share the same math class."
Dante nodded. "I thought you looked familiar."
"Oh my god what are the odds of the four of us being from the same school?" Selena asked.
"Make that five of us," a girl said.
The four teens turn around to see Natalie walking towards them.
"Sorry to cut in. My name's Natalie Greyson, I also go to Sunset Beach High."
The four reintroduced themselves to Natalie.
"How interesting that we all got the same letter from a scholarship," Jalen said.
Natalie crossed her arms. "I find it weird that we all play different sports yet we were all contacted by the same person."
"Maybe he handles all sports and will interview us at different times for our respective sports. I know mine's at 6:00," Selena chimed in.
"What? So is mine," Dante said, getting a little creeped out.
"Me too," the other three chorused.
Logan put a hand on his head. "What the hell? This makes no sense."
All of a sudden, the front doors open and a man walked out.
"Hello everyone, thank you for coming," the man said.
"James Franklin, I assume?" Jalen asked.
The man shook his head. "No, my name is Dr. Joshua Ashford, I'm a professor of archaeology at Sunset Beach University. James is a friend of mine, and he's using my office to conduct your interviews. Follow me please."
Dr. Ashford led the five teens into the office building. They were led through the reception area to an office on the first floor. The office was big with a couple of couches and chairs around the front with a big desk and chair at the back near the window. The table held a couple of computers. There was also another chair and desk to the side of the room. The opposite side had a large wall with a framed map of Sunset Beach on it. James Franklin was strangely missing.
"Please have a seat," Dr. Ashford motioned to the couches.
The five teens sat on the couches. Dante, Selena, and Jalen on one while Logan and Natalie took the other. Dr. Ashford sat down in a chair facing the couches holding the teens.
Dante broke the silence. "So where's James?"
Dr. Ashford took a long sigh. "He's not here, James Franklin doesn't exist. I was the one who wrote the letter."
The teens were naturally upset and confused.
"What!?" Dante shouted.
"Who are you?" Natalie questioned.
"My name is really Joshua Ashford, and I really am a professor at Sunset Beach University," Dr. Ashford explained.
"If you're not a recruiter, then what do you want from us?" Logan demanded.
"I needed to get you all here, and I figured a college recruiter was the best way to get you all to meet me," Dr. Ashford explained.
"That doesn't answer my question damn it!" Logan shouted.
"Calm down Logan, let the guy finish," Selena said.
"Thank you, Selena," said Dr. Ashford. "I know you're all confused, but I promise there's a good reason I called you here."
"So let me get this straight, there's no scholarship, and Sunshine State University has no idea who we are?" Jalen questioned.
Dr. Ashford nodded. "I'm sorry Jalen, you're correct. I needed a way to convince you all to meet me."
"This is bullshit, I'm out of here. If there's no scholarship, I'm leaving," Logan declared as he got up. The other teens were about to follow him out the door.
"Wait!" Dr. Ashford yelled as he stood up. The teens stopped in their tracks. "This concerns you because this concerns the safety and future of Sunset Beach."
Dante was curious now. "What do you mean the safety of Sunset Beach?"
"I called you five specifically for a reason. Please hear me out, I am willing to explain everything," Dr. Ashford explained.
Dante looked to the others. "I say we hear him out." The others nodded.
"Thank you, I asked a lot of you to meet me here. The least I can do is show you everything and fully explained why I need all of you," the professor said.
Dr. Ashford walked to the wall holding the map of Sunset Beach. To the teen's shock, Dr. Ashford put his hand on the framed picture and the picture pushed into the wall. Part of the wall suddenly slid open revealing a secret hallway.
"What in the world?" Selena questioned.
Dr. Ashford faced the teens. "Are you all sure you're ready to hear everything and discover my secret?"
The teens nodded. They were all genuinely curious why they were called here, and the professor seemed desperate for their help.
"Then follow me," Dr. Ashford said.
The teens follow Dr. Ashford through the secret hallway. A couple of seconds later they reached a large door that slid open for them. The teens gasped as they entered a secret room that looked like something out of a spy movie. The walls were silver as the lights shined bright. There was a giant computer and desk, they were keeping an eye on the city. There was another room with the door called Simulation Room. There was various pieces of furniture scattered about. Another door on the teen's left said Science Room. There was another door nearby with the words Garage written on it. There others doors leading to different places around the room too. In the center of the room was a silver box with a black fang on it.
"What is this place?" Questioned Dante.
"Welcome to my secret base. First off, do all of you remember the Downtown attack from a couple of weeks ago?" Dr. Ashford questioned.
They all nodded. "Yeah with those freaky robots, why?" Logan questioned.
Dr. Ashford went to the computer and showed everyone an image of the attack on the giant screen. The camera was zoomed on a Gizbot to the point the teens could see the Gizbot name on the chest of the foot soldier.
"Gizbot?" Muttered Jalen.
"After the robot attack, I decided I couldn't stand around and do nothing. Someone had to do something. So I decided I would do it and I built this base," Dr. Ashford explained.
"How did you get this place built so fast?" Natalie asked.
Dr. Ashford shrugged. "I'm an archaeologist with a passion for science. I sold a couple of artifacts to buy this building and build this place. My assistant is also an science prodigy who was a big asset in creating this room in the short span.
"Back to those robots, how do we fit into this?" Dante questioned.
Dr. Ashford smiled. "I'm going to train you all to fight them."
"What?" Selena said.
"Are you serious? You want us to fight those freaks? How are we supposed to do that?" Logan demanded.
"I'm glad you asked," Dr. Ashford said. "How many of you heard of the Power Rangers?"
The teens looked at each other in confusion.
Selena then spoked. "I heard that they saved a city called Angel Grove years ago."
"Exactly, I used to live there myself. So I saw everything first hand," Dr. Ashford said.
Dr. Ashford then motioned everyone to the table holding the silver box.
"It took me years to find this. I believe whatever in this box can help us defeat the robots, I believe you can help defeat the robots."
"But why do you want our help? We're just ordinary teenagers," Jalen said.
Dr. Ashford nodded. "My assistant is a student at your school, and over the last week she did recon of who we both deem worthy to help save the city. All five of you process extraordinary athletic abilities and talents. Skills necessary to save our home from these robotic fiends. I believe all of you are worthy to defend the city."
Dante was starting to put the pieces together. "Wait, I think I know where this is going."
Dr. Ashford nodded. "The key to saving the city lies in both you and these morphers in the box."
Dr. Ashford then opened the box. The rangers were stunned to see the morphers in clear view. Red, blue, black, yellow, and pink, one for each teen. The morphers were square shaped and sort of resembled an Apple Watch. The teens feel a strange yet powerful feeling coming from the morphers. They all looked to Dr. Ashford, who began to talk again.
"Dante Marshall, Jalen Palmer, Logan Armstrong, Natalie Greyson, and Selena Shepherd, I believe all five of you are destined to protect Sunset Beach as the new Power Rangers!"
