"Lady Kagome, can I ask you something?"

Rin knelt down next to her friend as they both picked herbs together.

"Of course Rin, what's on your mind?"

Rin paused for a moment, how would she go about asking such a silly question?

"Well, there's this...guy...and-"

"Ooooh? Do tell!"

Rin immediately blushed, and playfully slap Kagome on the shoulder.

"Lady Kagome, its not like that!...Well it is...but..."

Kagome laughed, and leaned in closer to Rin, a wide smile on her face.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please continue."

Rin blushed even deeper, and sighed.

"Well...I...I like him...but I don't know if he feels the same way."

Kagome hummed and placed her finger on her chin.

"Well you could always just ask him. Is he a boy from the village? Oooh Its Kohaku isn't it?"

"Waaah? No! No no no, Kohaku is just a friend. I just can't see myself marrying him at all."

"Marriage? Rin, sweet heart, your to young to be thinking about marriage."

"I am not! Lady Kagome I'm 16. Most of the other girls in the village my age have already been married off, and Sakiki has already had her first child."

Kagome put her hands up in surrender as Rins cheeks puffed out in frustration.

"Your right Rin. Sorry sorry. I keep forgetting that girls in this time marry much younger. Back in my time Rin, we didn't even think about marriage or children until we were at least 20."

"Wow... so old?"

"Hey who you calling old?"

Both girls laughed as they continued to pick herbs. Tossing banter back and forth between each other as they did. After gathering all the herbs they needed, they began to head back to Kaedes hut, to bring the old priestess her herbs. The old hut came into view just in time to see the old woman emerge from her house. Rin called out to her and waved, but when a second figure emerged from her hut, her heart fluttered. Long silver hair blew in the breeze, and beautiful golden eyes raised up to regard her.

"Lord Sesshomaru!"

Rin made a mad dash for her lord, crashing into him, and giving him a monstrous bear hug.

"Your back! I've missed you!"

"Hnn, I have missed you too. I trust you have been well?"

Rin pulled away from the hug, and beamed up to him.

"Yep! I've been good! Lady Kagome is teaching me how to use a bow! I'm getting pretty good at it too!"

"Hnn, I look forward to a demonstration."

"Oh I can show you right now! Lemme put the herbs away real quick and grab my bow!"

Rin darted inside Kaedes hut, and the old priestess chuckled.

"I wish I had her energy."

"Indeed."

"Big brother! Good to see you!"

Sesshomaru felt his eye once again twitch at that nickname, and he turned to face the younger priestess.

"Hnn."

"How have you been? Its been 3 months since your last visit."

"I have traveled far to the northern mountains. I believe I may have secured a peace treaty with what remains of the panther tribe."

"Are you serious!? That's fantastic!"

"Indeed. Toran was quite helpful in that regard as well."

"Okay!"

Rin burst out from the hut holding a bow and a quiver of arrows.

"Lady Kaede can I borrow one of your extra bows? I'll be real careful with it, promise!"

"Oh, of course ye can, Rin."

"Yay! Thank you!"

Rin gave the old priestess a quick hug, and then ran over to Sesshomaru.

"There are still targets set up near the tree of ages, and with you here I'm sure to hit every single one of them!"

Rin heard a small chuckle come from him, and she felt his hand grab hers.

"Lead on then, Rin."

Her heart pounded in her chest, and a small blush crossed her face. He was holding her hand.

"R-right, this way!"

Hand in hand, they both left for the forest. Kagome and Kaede both smiled as Rin and Sesshomaru made their way down the path.

"That's so sweet. I'm so glad Rin was able to melt that ice around his heart. I remember the days when Sesshomaru was hell bent on killing us."

"Indeed, Kagome. But perhaps, Rin has done more to his heart than just melt its ice, and he the same to her."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"Do ye not see it, Kagome?"

"See what, exactly?"

The old woman sighed, and shook her head.

"Never ye mind. Come, let us sort and dry the herbs you and Rin have brought me."

Brown eyes narrowed as they focused on the target. The string of the bow was brought back, an arrow expertly placed between her fingers and the string. Sticking her tongue out, she took aim, and released the arrow. It flew straight and true, and hit the target, only slightly off from a bullseye. She grinned widely as she looked at each target she had hit. Some were off completely, a few she had flat out missed the target, but she was greatly proud of the 5 that were nearly a perfect shot. Turning to look back at her lord, her grin grew even wider when he smiled and nodded with approval.

"For only three months of training, you have excelled greatly at the bow, Rin. Well done. It took me much longer to perfect my sword techniques when I was younger."

"Wooow really!?"

"Indeed."

Rin laughed with glee as she skipped over to the targets to retrieve her arrows. Soon after, the two found themselves sitting under the Tree of ages. Sesshomaru, in a rare act, was telling Rin of a tale when he was her age, and learning the sword. He had decided after only a few weeks of training, he was ready to take on a bear demon. Rin listened to him speak with sparkles in her eyes. The sound of his voice alone was enough to melt her thoughts away.

"In the end, the bear demon handed my ass to me on a silver platter. Had my father not come at just that moment, I would have probably been killed."

"Woow. That must have been a really strong demon to take you out like that."

"It was quite formidable. But the lack of sufficient training was what lead to my down fall."

"Was your father angry with you for going alone?"

"He was furious. I had been foolish and disregarded training in favor of pride."

"I did something dangerous like that once when I was little. I tried to cross a river all by myself and almost got sweep away. My daddy was so mad at me."

"Hnn. That was indeed foolish. I am sure his anger was out of worry for you, however."

"Yeah, I bet the same with your father too."

"Hnn. Indeed."

The two grew silent for a moment, a gentle breeze tussled their hair, as the tree tops waved in the wind. Rin stole a glace up to her lord. His golden eyes stared up at the sky, and she imagined him watching the clouds go by. With his mokomoko curled around then as they leaned against the tree, she could see his features more clearly. Flawless skin, beautiful stripes across his cheeks, a breathtaking crescent moon on his forehead. There was no man alive more beautiful than her Lord Sesshomaru. Rin had been thinking for the past few months. Thinking of how to ask him something. Was now even the right time? They were alone, no Master Jaken or Ah-Un, to bother them. Would she ever get a better chance like this to bring up the question? She scooted closer to him, and their hips touched.

"Say...Lord Sesshomaru..."

"Hnn?"

"Earlier today, I asked Lady Kagome a question."

"And?"

"She...didn't really answer it well. So I was thinking, maybe you could give a better answer?"

"I shall do my best. What is your question?"

"Ok...well...see...there is this...guy."

"...ah."

"And I like him...Like, I really, REALLY, like him. I think I may even love him."

"I see...and have I had the pleasure of meeting this, guy?"

There was a slight growl to his voice, Rin noticed.

"Haha, well I would hope you know him."

"Indeed? So you are in love with someone, where is this question you have?"

"Well, see, we are really, really good friends. And I know he probably doesn't know I love him. How do I tell him?"

"I fail to see the problem if you two are already friends. Just tell him how you feel?"

"I'm afraid."

"Of?"

"What if he doesn't feel the same way...and it ruins our relationship? I'm afraid that if I tell him, and he doesn't love me back, that it will get awkward between us, and he'll never talk to me again. I don't want that."

"I see..."

"Lord Sesshomaru, what do I do?"

Sesshomaru got quiet for a moment. Rin was sure he had never been faced with a question like this before. Would he even have an answer? She stared into his eyes, and for a only a second, he looked...sad? Was she seeing things or...

"Hnn. I would still tell him."

"You would? But what if-"

"If you two are as close friends as you say you are, then he should understand. A friend would never forsake a friend because of a feeling one cannot control. Should you confess, and he turn not only you away, but your friendship as well, then he was never a worthy friend to begin with."

"I...never thought of it that way. But how do I tell him? Do I what...just walk up to him and kiss him?"

"That is a rather...blunt way to confess...but also straight to the point. If that is how you wish to relay your feelings, then by all means."

"Your right...Your RIGHT! I need to just woman up and tell him!"

Rin heard him chuckle.

"Indeed."

"And...and you know what?"

"What is that?"

"I'm gonna do it right now!"

"A fine idea. I shall escort you, if you would allow. I wish to meet this male worthy of such affect-"

Sesshomaru was cut off as soft lips pressed themselves against his. His body went ridged, and his eyes grew wide. The kiss lasted for what seemed like an eternity, before Rin pulled away, and looked into Sesshomaru eyes. He could only stare back at her, his eyes still wide.

"O-oh..."

Rin hopeful expression faltered.

"You don't...feel the same..."

"...Rin."

"Im...im so sorry. I never should of... I feel like such an idiot-"

It was Rin this time, who was cut off, as a hand grasped her chin, and Sesshomarus lips crashed onto hers. She gasped at the sudden kiss, her heart nearly skipping a beat. He was kissing her, he was kissing her back! Sesshomaru finally pulled away from the kiss, and they stared into each others eyes.

"You feel the same, you really do?"

"Of course I do. You no idea how you scared me, making me believe there was another."

"I'm sorry! I was just afraid to come right out and tell you."

"You should never be afraid to tell me anything, Rin."

Rin wrapped her arms around him in a giant hug, and in turn, he wrapped his arms around her, and hugged her back.

The sun was setting as Kagome and Kaede finally finished drying and preparing the herbs. They both exited the hut, and saw Inuyasha outside waiting for them.

"Inuyasha your back!"

"Hey. Yeah Miroku and I just got back a few minutes ago."

"Did the extermination go well?"

"Yeah, it was just a weasel demon. Didn't even get to kill it either, it knew my name, and started begging for mercy. Talk about a waste of time."

Kagome giggled while Kaede just shook her head.

"Ye don't have to kill every demon Inuyasha. Sometimes the greatest weapon a warrior can have is mercy. Ye never know, maybe the demon you spared today shall one day be a great ally to ye."

"Ha! Doubt it! But whatever."

Kagome rolled her eyes, and moved to embrace Inuyasha in a hug.

"I'm glad your back, I missed you."

Inuyasha blushed, and hugged her back.

"Yeah yeah, I missed you too."

Kaede smiled as the two embraced. She moved to return to her hut, when she noticed two figures emerge from the forest.

"Ah, it looks like Rin and Lord Sesshomaru have returned."

Kagome and Inuyasha looked behind them as they approached. Kagome smiled, and pulled away from the hug to wave at them.

"Rin! Big Brother!"

She saw the grimace look that crossed his face, and a very similar look on Inuyashas face as well.

"Please stop calling him that..."

"Aww, but why?"

Kagome giggled and Inuyasha rolled his eyes. They both turned to look at the two as they came to a stop next to them, and it was then Inuyasha noticed that they were holding hands.

"Oi, what's with the hand holding? I thought you hated touching people?"

"Good to see you as well, Inuyasha. And that is only the case with people I dislike...like you."

"You wanna say that again?"

Rin laughed and handed her bow back to Kaede.

"Thank you for letting me borrow your bow Lady Kaede, I took good care of it."

"I am sure ye did child."

"How did your shots go?"

"Her aim is excellent, with more practice, she will become an élite archer."

At Sesshomarus praise, a deep blush crossed Rins face. Her hand holding his gripped tighter, and she leaned into him, a small smile on her face. This did not go unnoticed by Inuyasha and Kaede. Kagome however, remained oblivious.

"So what else did you two do today? You were gone a long time."

"Oh we just talked a bit...remember what I asked you earlier today Lady Kagome?"

Kagome grinned.

"You mean about the boy you like?"

"Mhm."

"Yeah, what about it?"

"Well, he knows I like him now."

Kagomes eyes widened in shock, and she leaned in closer to Rin.

"Oh tell tell! I need the deets! Does he like you back?"

Rin felt his hand in hers give a small squeeze, and she looked up to him. They both looked into each others eyes. Rin smiled, and he smiled back.

"Indeed. He likes her back, very much so."

Kagome looked back and forth between them confused, meanwhile Inuyashas jaw was nearly on the ground, and Kaede was smiling.

"How would you know Sesshomaru? Oh were you with her when she confessed? That would make sense actually."

Rin laughed and shook her head.

"Yes Lord Sesshomaru was with me when I confessed, because I confessed to HIM."

Kagome looked at Rin for a moment, then realization hit her, and she beamed.

"Wait, you mean you two!?"

Rin nodded, and Kagome squealed, and embraced Rin in a huge hug, and then promptly embraced Sesshomaru as well, whos body stiffened in shock.

"Priestess..."

"Haha right right, no touchy, I know. I'm just so excited!"

Kagome grabbed Rins hands, and both girls jumped up and down excitedly while they squealed. Sesshomaru would never understand woman. He then felt a pat on his shoulder, and looked to see his brother standing next to him.

"Congrats I guess."

"Hnn."

"Oh my gosh you two must come over for dinner! I'll invite Miroku and Sango too! It will be so fun!"

"That sounds fantastic, Lord Sesshomaru?"

"Hnn, if that is what you wish Rin, I will join you tonight."

"Yaaay!"

Rin wrapped her arms around her Lord in a hug, and once again placed her hands in his.

"Oh this will be so much fun! Well have a huge dinner, ill bring out the saki, oh oh OH Rin can I help plan the wedding?"

At Kagomes words Sesshomaru blanched, and Rin blushed.

"W-wedding?"

"Lady Kagome we just confessed to each other today... Isn't it to early too..."

"Nonsense!"

Kagome grabbed Rins hand and began pulling her back to their hut, chattering away about shopping for wedding Kimonos and such. Sesshomaru was still rooted to the spot. Talk of a wedding...already? He heard laughing next to him, and turned to glare at his brother.

"Ahaha, aaah, don't take it to seriously, she did the same thing to Miroku and Sango."

"...Hnn."

"Well looks like its gonna be a big dinner, I better go catch a deer or something. Wanna come with?"

"Hnn, that is acceptable, I shall accompany you on your hunt."

"Cool, I'll go let Kags know, then we can go."

Sesshomaru watched his brother leap over to the girls, and he followed. His mind however was stuck on the word wedding. It wouldn't happen right now, but it would eventually. His thoughts drifted to Rin, wearing a beautiful ceremonial kimono. With her favorite flowers in her hair. He let his gaze drift over to his Rin, and he smiled. Yes. One day.
