Chapter 3

"I should find Thor," she murmured to herself as she crossed to the door. Quickly, she exited the room, making sure the door was closed behind her. She glanced up and down the hallway trying to figure out which way to go.

"Nel!" she heard a voice call her from down the hall to the right. She turned her head and saw a familiar red head waiving at her.

"O thank Odin," she mumbled to herself as she headed towards the red head.

"I am heading up to the lab. You seemed a little lost," Nat said as she stood holding the elevator door open.

"You have perfect timing. Thank you for the clothes," Nel said as she stepped into the elevator.

"You are welcome. That sweater is not mine though," Nat said with a knowing smirk.

"No, its...its Steve's. I tend to get cold rather easily," Nel said as a blush reached her cheeks. "Have you seen Thor?" She asked changing the subject.

"I actually just asked that he meet me in the lab. We figured out part of Loki's plan," Nat responded as the elevator moved up.

"What is it?" Nel said snapping her head up.

"He is going to try and release the Hulk," Nat said quickly as the door opened.

"The Hulk could tear this air ship a part," Nel said running after her.

"Which is why I want to stop it before it happens," Nat said as she walked into the lab.

"Did you know about this?" Bruce asked Nat as they walked into the lab.

"You wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?" Natasha said calmly.

"I was in Calcutta. I was pretty well removed," he responded back to her.

"Loki is manipulating you," she responded, keeping her voice as calm as possible.

"An you have been doing what exactly?" he bit back.

"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you," she retorted.

"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy. I'd like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction," he said as he turned a computer screen towards them.

"What?!" Nel gasped.

"Because of Him," Fury said as he pointed to Thor.

"Me?" Thor responded; shock written on his face.

"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly, hilariously, outgunned," Fury responded.

"My people want nothing but peace with your planet," Thor responded as the tension in the room began to rise.

"Everyone needs to calm down," Nel said trying to get everyone's attention.

"Stay out of this Sister," Thor responded sharply.

"Don't talk to her like that," Steve said quickly.

"But you're not the only people out there, are you? And' you're not the only threat. The world's filling up with people who can't be matched. They can't be controlled," Fury continued.

"Like you controlled the Cube?" Steve retorted.

"Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to is, and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for a higher form of war," Thor said as his volume increased. Nel knew where this was heading and before she could stop it, everyone in the room was arguing.

Every time she tried to speak up, she would get shut down. She looked around trying to find something to help her get their attention, when she saw it. The gem in the scepter was beginning to glow brighter. She stared at it, dazed. She could feel the power radiating off it. She stared at it, almost trance like. The noises of the argument around her dulled to a whisper. She didn't even realize she had moved towards the scepter until a hand landed on her shoulder. She looked up and saw Thor's concerned face looking back at her.

"Doctor Banner... put down the scepter," Steve's voice came, snapping her back to the conversation at hand. The computer in the corner started beeping.

"Got it," Tony said as Bruce put the scepter down and started to cross.

"Sorry, kids. You don't get to see my little party trick after all," Bruce said as he started to touch the computer screen.

"Located the Tesseract?" Thor asked.

"It's the Scepter," Nel whispered.

"What?" Thor asked glancing down at her.

"The Scepter is creating negative energy. It is feeding off everyone arguing," she said quietly to him.

"You don't know that sister," Thor responded back before turning his attention back to Tony and Steve. "The Tesseract belongs on Asgard. No human is a match for it."

"You're not going alone!" Steve said stopping Tony from leaving.

"You gonna stop me?" Tony responded stepping closer to him.

"Put on the suit, let's find out."

"I'm not afraid to hit an old man."

"Stop arguing!" Nel says sternly as she begins to walk towards the two men.

"Oh, my God," Bruce's voice came right before part of the lab exploded.

Nel was thrown back and felt her body slam against the wall before everything went black for a moment.

"Nel!" she vaguely heard her name being called by multiple people.

"I'm here," she grumbled back.

"Sister!" Thor said as he reached her.

"I'm fine. I just hit my head," she responded as she rubbed the back of her head.

"Nel!" Steve's voice came full of worry.

"I'm alright. Go help others!" She responded to him.

As Thor helped her to her feet, scanning her quickly with his eyes, a loud roar came from below them.

"GO! Help keep the Hulk from tearing this place a part," Nel told him as she pushed him away.

"I will find you after. Stay safe sister," he said briefly meeting her eyes and then jumping into the whole in the middle of the room.

"Director, are you hurt?" Nel asked she reached him.

"No. I need to get to the bridge," he said standing quickly.

"This has to be an attempt to free Loki," She said as they crossed to the door.

"If that is the case, you will need this," he said as he handed her the dagger, that she had left in the conference room.

"Thank you, sir," she said before heading to the elevator to her right.

"We are going to need more guards in the detention section. Coulson is initiating lockdown, but he may need more assistance," Fury said in his earpiece before Nel was out of earshot.

Nel quickly reached the elevator and hit the button to take her to the detention floor. As the elevator reached the floor, Nel readied herself for a fight once the doors opened. But, when the doors opened, there was no one there. She quickly ran to Loki's cell and opened the door. She quietly walks into the room, only to notice Loki is not in the cage.

"Where are you Loki?" she whispers.

"I am right here, elsker," he whispered in her ear as he wrapped his arms around her waist pulling her close to him.

"Release me," she said as she struggled against him.

"No. I have a promise to fulfill," he said softly in her ear as he quickly took her dagger and tossed it to the floor. Her body tensed against him and he let out a deep chuckle.

"Stay still a moment. Do not say a word as I deal with our dear brother," Loki said as he released her. She went to move, to run from the room but another pair of hands held her in place. She struggled as she watched Loki trick Thor into the cage.

"Are you ever going to not fall for that?" Loki laughed.

"Let him out Loki," Nel said as she struggled against the man. She watched as Thor attempted to break the glass. "Thor don't. It will fall!" He stared over at her.

"Let her go Loki. You can have me instead," Thor said as he stood inches from the glass.

"The humans think us immortal. Should we test that?' Loki asked as he crossed to the panel.

"Loki, don't. I will go with you. Just don't hurt anyone else," Nel pleaded, tears stinging her eyes. Suddenly the guard holding her collapses and she turns to see Phil Coulson. "Agent Coulson," she said breathlessly.

"Move away from that," he says pointing the weapon at Loki. "You like it? We started the prototype after you sent the Destroyer. Even I don't know what it does. Do you want to find out?" he says before a loud gasp escapes his lips.

"No!" Thor screams as Nel gasps in horror and falls to the ground. There behind Phil is the real Loki and he has stabbed Phil through the heart with his scepter.

"Phil," Nel says has she crawls over to him, assessing his wounds. "Look at me Phil. Do not fall asleep. Keep your eyes fixed on me," she calmly says as she puts pressure on his wound.

Suddenly, the room is full of wind whipping around her and she turns to see Loki at the control panel.

"Loki Stop this!" she cries.

"Sorry my dear," he says before hitting the button, sending Thor tumbling out of the carrier and towards the ground.

"NO!" she screams.

"Come my dear. Time to go," Loki says as he grabs her by the wrist and pulls her up.

"Let me go!" she hisses at him.

"Now now my dear. You just said you would come with me," He says gripping her wrist tighter.

"I said I would come if you did not hurt anyone else," she responded back harshly.

"I won't, starting now," he smirked as goes to pull her from the room.

"You're going to lose," Phil said calmly, causing Loki to stop and turn to him.

"Am I?

"It's in your nature.

"Your heroes are scattered. Your floating fortress falls from the sky. Where is my disadvantage?" Loki says as he crosses to Phil, pulling Nel with him.

"You lack conviction," Phil responded.

"I don't think," Loki starts, but instantly was blasted through a wall. Nel went flying with him and landed on top of him with a thud.

"So that is what it does," she groaned as she pushed herself up. She glanced down at Loki, who was unconscious. She slowly stood, leaning against the wall for balance, and slowly walked down the hallway. She could see light coming in from a section of wall ahead of her and she moved quickly towards it.

As she neared, she could hear gunshots and wind coming from the hole. She winced as she bent down and picked up the gun that was lying on the ground. She moved away from the wall and walked slowly towards the hole, careful not to trip over debris and bodies. She ached to help them, to take their pain and help them cross. A man came through the hole and charged towards her. She quickly pulled the trigger the held it in. As the bullets sprayed, she held on tightly to the gun.

When it stopped firing, she opened her eyes to see that the man was down. She glanced further up the hallway and saw more men running towards her. She moved quickly through the opening and screamed when she saw that she was outside.

"Nel?" Steve yelled from his crouched position.

"Steve!" She yelled back, relieved to see him.

"What happen?" He called back.

"Loki," she responded. "There are more men coming. He is coming for me!" she shouted.

"Correction dear. I am here for you," a voice came as she felt a hand wrap around her wrist.

"Nel!" Steve called as he aimed his gun at Loki.

"I wouldn't do that Captain," Loki said as he pulled Nel in front of him as a shield.

"You wouldn't dare," Steve said stepping closer to them. "Stark hurry up," he said quietly.

"Wouldn't I?" Loki responded with a smirk. "I mean I would, but I still have many more years to spend with this one. Say farewell to Captain Rogers," he said as he pushed his scepter into her back.

"Goodbye Steve," she said softly as tears slid down her face.

"I will save you," he responded. "Wherever you are, I will always find you."

"Let's go," "Loki said as he pulled her backwards from the room before turning and pulling her down the hallway. "Stop fighting darling. It will only cause you more pain."

"No! I will never stop fighting you. I will fight you every step of the way," she said struggling against him. Finally, he turned and quickly flung her over his shoulder. "Put me down!" She screamed.

"Calm down my dear or I shall make you," Loki sneered at her. She bit her tongue and slowly developed a plan. As they neared the hanger, she quickly set her plan in motion.

"Please set me down, my dear. I would like to walk," she said softly.

"Is that so? I don't exactly trust you," Loki said as he slowed his walk.

"What can I do to show my king that I mean what I say?" she said seductively as she traced patterns on the back of his shoulders. She felt Loki's grip loosen slightly and she took the moment to wrap her legs around his waist. She pushed herself up so that they were face to face. "What are your desires my king?" She let her eyes dart around his face. She had taken him by surprise, that was evident. His breathing had hitched and changed pattern while his heart hammered against his chest.

"O my elsker, how I have missed you," he said as he placed a hand on her face.

"What does my king wish of me?" she repeated bringing her face closer to his. Within moments, Loki pulled her lips to his, his free hand worked its way towards her hair.

"These Midgardian clothes have made this position rather easy to hold onto," he mumbled against her lips.

"Less talking," she mumbled against his lips. He smirked as he pulled her even deeper into the kiss.

"Freeze!" a voice came from behind them. They both snapped their head in the direction of the voice, breathless, to see an agent staring at them, gun drawn. Nel seized the moment and jumped out of Loki's embrace. She landed all her weight on his foot as she grabbed his hand from her face and twisted under it so that she was closer to the agent. She kicked the back of his leg, causing his knee to buckle.

"Go get help. Captain Rogers, Fury, anyone" she whispered quickly. The agent simply nodded before running off, speaking into their earpiece as they ran.

"You shouldn't have done that darling," he smirked before swinging his scepter behind him, catching her slightly off guard. She dodged but the tip sliced into her side easily.

She let out a cry of pain as her hand pressing the stop as she fell to her knee. She saw the downed agent in front of her and grabbed their earpiece.

"You are no match for me darling," he said stepping towards her.

"I don't need to fight you long. Just long enough for back up to arrive," she said as she rose from the ground, pressing the earpiece into her ear.

"You aren't trained in fighting. You are a healer," Loki said as he circled her.

"Stark, quiet. I can hear Loki," Steve's voice came in her ear.

"What do you think I was doing all those hours I spent with Sif and the Warriors Three?" she smirked back at him. "Since I am unarmed, why don't you make it even?"

"Nel, do not engage. We are coming. Do not fight Loki alone!" Steve's voice came, worry laced in every word. "Stark let's move!"

"What do you think I am doing? Dancing?" Tony responded sarcastically.

"Oh, that I won't do. Don't worry my elsker, I won't hurt you too bad. I still want you as my queen," he smirked as he stopped in front of her.

"This guy really is psychotic," Tony stated, causing her to smirk.

"Very well," she responded before taking a fight stance. Loki attacked her first, reaching for one of her arms. She quickly blocked him and grabbed onto his scepter.

"Now that was not wise," Loki smirked as he pulled her and the scepter closer. "I should had known you were playing with me."

"I was always good at playing the God of Mischief," she smirked back before headbutting him, causing him to take a few steps back. He released his grip out of shock and his hand went to his face.

"Nice trick elsker," he smirked as he examined the blood on his hand.

"You pick up a few things when you are married to the God of Mischief," she responded as she twirled the scepter. "Now that I have this, I will take my leave." She turned on her heels and ran towards the hallway behind her.

"Not so fast darling," Loki said as he grabbed her hair and yanked her back against him. A small gasp left her lips. "You always did like it when I pulled your hair," he whispered in her ear before tugging her hair again. "I'll take this," he whispered as he pulled the scepter from her hands.

"I never was truly a fan of it," she gritted through her teeth.

"Why do I feel like we are listening to a domestic dispute?" Tony's voice came.

"Not the time Stark," Steveresponded. "Does anyone have a location on Loki and Nel?"

"Hanger bay," Nel responded quickly before elbowing Loki in the stomach and then the nose. She felt a severe pain in her shoulder and glanced down to see the scepter piercing her shoulder. She fell to her knees as she screamed in pain.

"We are almost there Nel," Steve's voice said calmly.

"Well, I guess that is my cue to leave," Loki smirked at her before pulling her up by her hair. A cry left her mouth and she tried to release herself from his clutches. "We shall have to continue this later. Don't worry my dear, I won't go easy on you," he sneered before kissing her roughly and then throwing her to the ground. "As much as I would like to take you with me, in this state, you will only slow me down. I will find you after I win my kingdom," he said as he walked to the door. "Till then my elsker." And with that he was gone.
