Ground Zero Summoning

I was very upset, I wasn't thinking rationally. I was a widow, well my parents wouldn't see it that way. But none of that mattered, my Husband Saito was dead, and Tristain was burning. The forces of Reconquista invaded. My life was functionally over.

Now here I am crying like a baby, I don't even have a corpse to mourn over.

Saito...

But I'm Louise Valliere! A void mage! I can still at least save Tristain even if Saito has fallen in battle, or so I had thought.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

"Louise the airship is losing altitude! You need to use your Void magic!" Julio yelled.

Julio was right, but my heart was hurting, and a wilted flower was grasped tightly in my left hand. I couldn't perform a void spell, I had tried, but it was my own arrogance that had me turn the ship around regardless. Everyone had gone along with that plan, at their own peril, and we hadn't even been able to save Saito on the battlefield below. One versus seventy thousand, it wasn't fair!

"Hurry Louise!" Another friend yelled to her.

The ship was burning as it began plummeting. Yes that was an apt description of the ships current course.

Even if I manage to perform a spell, we are all still going to die!

She needed her Familiar, she needed Saito! Screw a proper runic array, she was a void mage!

"Brimir Please! Bless me with my servant that, existed, somewhere in this vast universe."

Please come back to me Saito!

"What is she doing! That's the summoning ritual! It can't be performed more than once!" Yelled one of the mages aboard the ship.

"Please my divine, beautiful, wise, and powerful servant, heed my call. I wish from very bottom of my heart to once again appear by my side again!"

Reconquista forces watched as the ship they were chasing exploded into a massive fireball.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise awoke in a panic!

"Saito!"

Breathing hard Louise looked around her. She was covered in sweet, and the heavy blankets for spring sat upon her. I'm in the academy, what happened with the Summoning ritual?

Her head really hurt, and the afternoon sun was beaming into her room. She needed to find out how she got back to the academy. Tears streamed down her eyes, she was safe, but not Saito.

"Wow Louise, I didn't think I would find you crying in your room."

"Zerbst!" Louise threw a pillow at the buxom woman.

But hadn't she fallen of the ship while performing a fire spell? Maybe I imagined it?

"Geez Louise, didn't sleep well last night? Spending all your time in the library isn't good for your skin you know." Kirche Von Zerbst said.

Why can't she just leave me alone, I just lost Saito and Tristain is being invaded!

Kirche was a bit worried about Louise. "Louise you should probably hurry and get dressed, class will be starting in the courtyard in twenty minutes you know!"

Such a uncaring woman! "Go away Kirche!"

"Fine, don't come to class, like a Zero can even summon a familiar anyways." Kirche stormed out of the room.

Huh, what does she mean summon a familiar. Why would we be summoning familiars in class, we did that at the springtime ritual! Is she trying to mock my attempt to bring back Saito!

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise had gotten fully dressed and headed out to the courtyard. It was very deju-vu. When she asked around none of the students remembered their summoned familiars, nor did they remember a war with Reconquista. But the ritual was exactly the same as she remembered, either everything before was a dream, or this was the past. But how?

My spell! It had to be when I tried to summon Saito back from the dead. It reversed time!? That means I can see Saito again!

"Yes!" Louise yelled.

"I suppose you haven't summoned your familiar yet Louise, would you like to go?" Colbert asked his student.

Louise was a bit nervous, after all she hardly remembered the runic patterns she had used for her very complex summoning array. No scratch that she knew how to make a new one, but the same exact one, well that was probably impossible. Runic arrays could have possibly millions of different setups, and mages were required to form their own random variation, she couldn't remember her old one. Hell she could try forgoing the array, but when she did that on the ship she had literally reversed time! Best to try and get Saito with a new array.

"Y.. Yes professor." Louise slightly stuttered.

"Zero going to blow us all up!" A bunch of her classmates loudly whispered.

Her runic array was complete, she was sure to succeed she'd have her powerful familiar. Saito! Here goes.

After a quick chant, her wand erupted into an explosion, showing yet again, the other students fears were not unfounded.

Everyone including Louise jeered or waited with baited breathe for the smoke to clear.

"Very good Louise, a fine fire Salamander!" Colbert praised her.

Louise's heart sank, a fire salamander? That wasn't Saito!

"Saito." She spoke softly.

"A very nice name miss Vallierre, but you should proceed to the second part of the ritual." Her professor stated.

Kirche thought it was very odd, Louise had the same familiar as her! But that wasn't all. Was Louise also crying while performing the ritual? She Was. Louise must have felt so terrible about her magic that she was brought to tears? This was her success though? Where they tears of joy, they didn't seem to be, Louise wore a pretty bad grimace.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise managed to make her way back to her dorm, the tears had nearly dried up, was everything just a dream? She now had success? A real proper familiar, it was nearly identical to the Zerbst's familiar, but it was still a great familiar. It was even quite cute lying in Saito's hay pile.

Louise started sobbing again as her familiar comforted her as she fell asleep on the bed.

The next day she awoke, her pillow now stained and her new Fire Salamander curled at her feet despite it's large size. The bed was built by very good craftsmen after all.

Getting dressed Louise made her way down to breakfast. It was odd the looks she now got. I suppose unlike before, they actually see me as a confident mage.

"Zero your still a failure even if you got a Familiar!" Said a fat noble boy.

"Ho, are Fire Salamander's not proof of greatness!?" Kirche laughed at the boy.

Is Kirche standing up for me? She never did when I summoned Saito...

Time flew by and Louise was resting in the courtyard, she needed more time before she could get to know he new familiar. The previous experience still hurt. She had not got to see Saito again. At least Saito is still alive out there somewhere happily with his family...

Kirche couldn't stand how mopey hey friend Louise was being, well she considered Louise a friend, even if the girl herself didn't.

"Umm, Mr. Gramont you dropped this." Siesta the maid said.

"Not it isn't mine!" Guiche de Gramont shouted.

"Guiche! What!?" Said a very shocked Montmorency.

"This is not what it looks like my dear sweet Montmorency." He tired to smooth talk her.

"Guiche you are dating another!" Katie a small first year girl cried out.

"Katie wait!" Guiche cried out after the crying fleeing girl.

Slap!

Ouch that had to hurt, even without Saito here it seems everything stays the same.

"This is all your fault maid!" Guiche pointed at her.

Louise waited for someone to come to the maid's defense, no one did.

"I didn't!" But she was interrupted by Guiche.

"I shall have your job stripped from you commoner! The rest of your family will be barred for working for the Academy!"

Siesta ran away crying. Louise had been Jealous of Siesta, but this was so wrong. Saito would have stopped this!

Louise spent the rest of her day trying to have fun interacting with her new Familiar, but just couldn't find any heart in it. She still would have to move on.

Louise plopped into her bed as her new Familiar slept at her feet.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise awoke with a giant headache. She looked around her bed.

Where is my Fire Salamander? Is that the hay bale I had removed yesterday!? Maybe one of my classmates is messing with me?

Louise got up and dressed while she started looking around her room for her Familiar.

"What are you doing Louise?" Kirche asked from Louise's door.

"Kirche this isn't funny! Where did you take my Fire Salamander!?" Louise shouted at her.

"A Fire Salamander? That would be a good Familiar, aren't you aiming a little too high Louise?"

How dare she, she took her Familiar!

Louise went to grab her wand off the dresser.

"You know you won't get a familiar if you don't hurry up to class, I think the teachers might start the summoning ritual without you zero." Kirche said as she left Louise room.

What does she mean summoning ritual! For Brimirs sake, we just did it two days ago!

Needing answers Louise stormed out into the afternoon sun to see her class all preparing for the springtime familiar summoning ritual.

"What?" Louise murmured.

"Louise thinks she's going to summon a Fire Salamander!" Kirche shouted to the rest of the class.

"No way, I bet she just summons an explosion!" Another student shouted as all Louise's classmates laughed.

Saito I wish you were here. Louise sighed, she was back where she started, again.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise finished her runic array again. As before she made her plea for her familiar.

Internally she prayed. Come on, Brimir please, give me what I desire, please!

Far far away, her plea did travel.

"What the hell!?" Cursed a small blonde haired child, as a green portal swallowed her up.

Louise focused on the smoke as it cleared. Please be Saito!

The students started jeering the zero after her explosive summoning.

"What the hell! Why do I hear people speaking the language of the Republic, I was in the Federation just now." The little girl thought.

"But how did I get here, was that a new mage weapon, a transportation spell!? Curse you X!" The girl internally monologued as the smoke around her cleared.

What? A little Girl, that's even worse then a Fire Salamander! And what is she wearing, some kind of green overalls, boots, a staff, and an unknown giant box hanging below her waist, how is she even standing? Her blonde hair doesn't even look like she's tried to tame it!

"Louise summoned a little commoner girl!" Jeered several students.

"Louise please finish the ritual." Colbert directed.

"Silent!" Yelled the small girl as her hand went for her waist.

"Are you from Germania?" Kirche asked in her native tongue, as the girl had just used.

The little girl could recognize a native speaker of the Empire, so she replied. "What is a member of the Empire doing consorting with Republic scum?"

Republic scum, where was her familiar from, she sounded Germania, and even said herself she was from the Empire. But to have such disdain for this republic, was she from another world like Saito?

Kirche swallowed at the abrasive tongue of the small blonde girl, she was even smaller then Louise, but a mere child. "I go to school here."

Colbert could tell things were going bad, the killing intent leaking from that child's eyes wasn't right. Her stare was cold, murderous, and without emotion. He shuddered as the girl smiled.

The small girl had a thought. "So the republic thinks it can just abduct our mages and kill them, I'll destroy their little operation starting with her."

"Traitor." The small girl pulled out some kind of pistol and fired as she spoke.

Kirche held her stomach as her white shirt started to turn red. Her legs grew weak as she started to collapse.

Was that a flintlock pistol! Her familiar was a solider? But she looked no older than nine!

Colbert rushed over to Kirche as he prepared a a fire spell.

All of the students were shocked. Did Kirche just get shot by a flintlock pistol?

"Get your familiar under control Zero!" Yelled Guiche.

"Everyone get away from miss Valerie's familiar!" Colbert shouted as his spell shot off towards the tiny girl.

The girl started to laugh as the spell came closer to her.

"You have got to be kidding me?" The small girl laughed as she started to float into the air, some sort of translucent barrier formed around her negating the fireball shot at her.

Guiche's bronze Valkyries stormed the girls location only to be unable to reach her.

"No way Louise's familiar is a mage!?" Yelled one student, followed by several others.

Colbert watched in horror as the small girl treated his spell like a minor nuisance, she didn't even use a wand! Was she an Elf! The girl was now grabbing her staff on her back, Colbert knew that wasn't good.

Several successive bangs rang out from the staff and Louise found herself looking up at the girl from the ground.

Tabitha was already on her dragon Slyphid before the foreign mage had even pulled out her staff. Taking careful aim from above, Tabitha launched several large icicles at the small girl in revenge.

"You even have dragons! X really pulled out all the stops!" The girl laughed as she took aim at the dragon, these research mages shouldn't have something dangerous like that.

Louise felt fuzzy, her hands were desperately trying to hold her stomach innards from falling out. What is she?

Colbert was laying on his back, his arm and leg no longer had any feeling in them. Above Colbert watched as Tabitha and her dragon exploded into a ghastly sight of gore after a loud bang of a musket , no a cannon was heard. "What has Louise brought fourth to our world?" He thought as his eyes went blank rolling into the back of his head.

Louise eyes slowly closed as she watched the small blonde haired girl throw some object at her fellow students. The last thing she saw was a large explosion rip her classmates apart.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise bolted upright in her bed, her head pounded!

I'm alive!

Louise checked over her stomach to make sure that her innards were where they belonged. She sighed in relief. I think I'm back again. This has to stop, what did I do to anger Brimir!

Louise walked carefully over to the door of her room and kicked it.

"Ow Louise! Why did you hit me with your door!" Kirche said while sitting on the floor behind Louise's door.

"You were spying on me!" Louise shouted.

"No I was just coming to make sure you didn't forget to come to class." Kirche pouted.

"Zerbst you were leaning on my door and listening to me!"

"But Louise you sound so cute when you sleep!" The now standing Zerbst pleaded.

Louise face palmed, was she going to have to have this conversation everyday for eternity now!?

"Just go! I'll be down to the grounds shortly!" Louise huffed.

After another routine of deja-vu, Louise again found herself at the springtime familiar summing ritual site. Again she prepared her runic array, and again she performed the summoning spell.

I really hope for a proper familiar this time Brimir, you know, like Saito?

A large explosion once again blanketed the courtyard, and again the students jeered at her.

As the smoke cleared, a small orange fox with multiple tails lied peacefully on the ground.

Well at least it looks harmless enough. And the creature looks kind of cute, never seen a fox with multiple tails before though.

"Please complete the Ritual miss Valliere." Colbert again commanded.

Louise spoke the chant and kissed the sleeping fox.

Louise felt pain, hot like an iron as she collapsed to the ground.

Louise awoke in the infirmary.

"Are you alright Louise?" Asked the concerned professor Colbert.

"Yeah my stomach hurts though." Louise moaned.

"I'm not sure how, but when you completed the ritual your familiar imprinted itself on your stomach like a runic brand, I don't have any idea what the runes mean, but it seems to be a circle surrounded by very complex set of ancient runes. I'm afraid I don't know what happened to your familiar." Colbert reported.

Louise looked down at her stomach, she now had a black runic tattoo just as he had described.

"Can I remove the tattoo?" Louise asked.

"I don't think so, their magic runes, for now I think it's best you slept till morning."

"Okay professor." Louise relaxed.

Well that turned out better then the last thing I summoned, she cringed at the memory of the blonde child.

Louise was soaking wet, but she had remembered falling asleep, where was she, was this a dream?

Standing up Louise tried to get her bearings, she was in a long narrow hallway, water soaked her feet. Mustering her courage Louise walked the corridor until she came upon a gigantic cage. The bars shook as an impossibly large fox monster slammed into the bars.

"You will release me Human!" Said the large fox with the ridiculous large sharp teeth.

A talking fox! A talking fox with giant teeth and a flaming coat! Yup she was dreaming.

"What are you?" The girl asked.

"A being of malice and hate incarnate that will devour everything you love human! Now let me out!"

Louise noticed a small paper tag holding the bars together, was that all that was really holding this beast back, she wasn't so inclined to feel safe anymore as she backed away from the cage.

The creature roared as Louise woke up inside the infirmary.

I guess it was a dream.

Heading down for breakfast, she found herself repeating the same day as she had with her fire salamander, accept without a familiar present this time.

When it came time for lunch though, Louise's stomach was again hurting. This time the maid Siesta was not sent away crying. Louise had the maid come deliver food to her room since her new runes were hurting her stomach. A conversation soon started up. It was rather nice to get to know the maid better without Saito present... Why should she be jealous when her husband wasn't even in this world after all...

After an unfruitful day of trying to study her Familiars runes she went to bed expecting to have to do it all over again.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise woke up, her stomach no longer hurt. Did that mean?

She threw off her sheets and looked under her pajamas. It was still there. Her familiar runic tattoo. What was going on, why didn't time reset this time? Did she no longer have a chance to summon Saito? Even if it took a thousand cycles or more she would get him back. Had the time spell she cast finally end?

Her stomach growled... One thing at a time I suppose, I'll have breakfast.. Oh right today's the day of the void, where Saito met Derflinger the talking annoying sword.

While eating breakfast several of the students jeered the poor girl just like they had before. It was hard going back to a zero, Saito had given her recognition, perhaps it was worse then before? She still struggled if she should go retrieve Saito's sword. That was silly though, he wasn't here to wield it.

After breakfast Louise again headed to the library hoping to find something on void magic, time magic, or her new strange familiar.

"Studying diligently I see miss Valliere." Spoke an old balding professor Colbert.

"Professor!" Louise stood up from her seat.

"I think studying on the day of the void is a good trait, but these books you have got are quite advanced for a second year.." The professor stated.

I wonder if he suspects I've traveled back in time? No there's no way, besides I can't even find a book on time magic, only vague mentions of the void maybe being able to manipulate it.

"I'm trying to find out the nature of my Familiar professor." Louise stated.

"Oh, that's very dutiful of a master, had any luck? Would you like me to exam it?" Colbert friendly asked.

This is a little embarrassing, but he's my professor.

"Yes please take a quick look."

Colbert grabbed a quill and paper and copied the runes. "Odd I think I may know how to effect these runes."

"Really?" Louise asked hoping to get any information on this familiar of hers.

"I think, for now I'd like yo to cast a spell." Colbert said trying to confirm a suspicion only to stop that thought.

"But not in the library!" Colbert yelled as the librarian then shushed him.

I wonder why Colbert wants me to cast a spell, something to do with my Familiar perhaps?

"Now that were in a spell-casting field, please cast a simple spell miss Valliere. A small one!" Her professor instructed.

Here goes.

Colbert watched as the young girl cast a simple spell. It was odd though, her wand started to glow orange, and her will power was bubbling off it?

"Miss Valliere! Point your wand into the sky right now!" Colbert shouted at the last second.

A ball of strange magical energy formed at the tip of her wand, it's sphere was a mess of chaotic spinning energy. As the spell resolved, the ball of energy flew high into the sky before detonating.

Louise didn't have time to react as the shock-wave from her small spells detonation in the sky forced her and her professor rolling backwards several yards.

Are the clouds parting? What was with that spell? Her eyes felt heavy.

Colbert got up after being thrown to the ground, he had suffered some bruising but he need to make sure Louise was okay.

Drip drip. Louise stood up from a water filled corridor. In front of her lay that massive cage from before.

But that was a dream, why am I dreaming again.

"Foolish Jinchuuriki, you have cracked my seal. I'll be seeing you soon."

Colbert was trying to get close to Louise but she was boiling in some sort of red orange fire magic. Every time he tried to get close, he, the fame snake, would get burned.

Louise eyes fluttered open.

Why is everything orange, then there was, the Pain!

"Professor help me!" Louise cried.

"I can't get close Louise, I can go and try a water mage!"

"But it hurts professor!" Louise shouted.

The pain abated and her vision returned, why? Wait, why is professor Colbert so shocked. What is he looking at?

"Roar!"

Standing untold fathoms of stories high above the academy stood a giant nine tailed fox made of fire magic.

"No way, Louise had bound a fire spirit!?" Colbert thought, but then immediately grew very concerned.

"We need to get to safety miss Valliere! That's a fire spirit!" Colbert shouted to the girl laying on the ground.

"Foolish humans, there is no escape." Said the large nine tailed fox as a large giant black orb formed in front of his mouth.

Louise watched as her familiar launched an attack toward the school. For whats its worth, the void towers enchantments did work, for a brief moment... It even deflected the blast somewhat. That did not however save the void tower, or the mountain far off in the distance behind it.

Colbert knew the void tower didn't have many occupants, the headmaster would be gone though. It would be up to him to get the children to safety. At least it was the day of the void, classes would not be in session.

Louise started to run alongside the professor as the giant fox spirit launched another spell blasting another swath of the country side. Even the water spirit of the lake was not this powerful!

They were almost to safety when a giant sphere of magic energy blasted apart the earth tower. Colbert and Louise were both blasted backwards on to the ground again.

My legs broken, I think. I won't be able to run. "Professor Colbert please keep going I think my leg is broken!"

"Nonsense miss Valliere. As your professor it's my duty to make sure my students are safe!" Colbert argued.

At that moment Kirche and Tabitha came riding in on a blue dragon, firing any spells they could at the beast. The spells were ineffective.

I need to do something if even their magic won't work!

Louise pulled herself up limping with her broken leg. It was agony.

"Explosion!" She yelled aiming her wand at the large beast.

It was hurt! She had actually done damage to it!

"Roar! How dare you human!" Said the large creature as its maw full of teeth conjured a large black mass of magic energy.

"Miss Valliere!" Colbert shouted as she was consumed in a massive explosion.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise woke up in fright as she went to look at her leg.

It's fine... I've had enough! Why does time keep resetting! How does this work! She internally monologued.

Louise quickly got out of bed walked up to the door and. "Explosion!"

Kirche and the door were flung back into Kirche's own room across the hall.

"What the hell was that for Louise!" Kirche yelled.

"I'm going back to bed! I'm done!" Louise stated.

"You will be expelled Louise! Do you want that." Said the soot covered Zerbst.

"Zerbst just leave me alone!" Louise shouted.

A while later Colbert walked into Louise room, there was no door to knock on after all.

"Miss Valliere, why have you skipped the Familiar summoning ritual! Are you trying to get yourself expelled!" He asked harshly.

"Just go blow up or something professor! I'm done with today!" Louise shouted at her professor.

"Your mother will be summoned to the school miss Valliere." Colbert threatened.

"Fine, send for her!" Louise huffed.

It's not like she will get here before time resets itself again anyways. Louise was later proven right after she fell asleep.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise woke up fatigued, her head hurting, why did she always have to wake up like this!

She sighed, I guess I can try and summon Saito again today, but first.

"Kirche I know your spying on me behind my door, I'll cast a spell if you don't reveal yourself." Louise commanded.

"Ha ha ha, how do you know I was there Louise, and it's not spying but eavesdropping, you say some where stuff in your sleep you know. Who's Saito?"

Louise was tempted to blast the woman right there, but she refrained.

"Lets just go summon our familiar's Zerbst!" A small amount of Louise temper sneaked into her voice.

Again Louise found herself drawing a new runic array, and again summoning forth a new familiar.

Please be Saito! I don't want to live an eternity with failure! I don't want to become know as the zero of time! Give me something that can effect time or something, please Brimir!

As the cloud of dust settled from the explosion, her familiar was revealed.

"Ha ha, look everyone Louise summoned a statue!" Many students jeered at her yet again.

Louise anger flared up, she couldn't stand her classmates, even more so now then before!

"Miss Valliere please complete the ritual." Colbert said.

Louise approached her new familiar. It was a statue of a human with wings, perhaps an angel? Its hands were covering it's eyes. Louise kissed the statue and finished the ritual.

"Well Louise, perhaps your not a zero after all, but too think you were an earth mage all along?" Kirche teased her.

"Alright class, everyone head back." Colbert informed the class as they all took off flying away.

I got a dumb statue I can't even physically move! She kicked it only managing to stub her toe. That hurt... Better get back to the library, I need to figure out what is going on. As she walked away she could've sworn she saw her familiar hands move, but it was just a statue right?

She had to figure this whole time resetting thing out, so far she sort of knew that dying resulted in a reset, and maybe failing to do the ritual caused a reset. The reset before last though she got past day two though. She would need to confirm if she could get to day three. Was it helping the maid just like Saito. Did she have to fill Saito's place to keep time moving forward!? That strangely hurt her heart. She would need to test it though. Tomorrow she would go and save that maid.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise woke up in fright. Her statue familiar was inside her room. Did someone move it? They even put it at the edge of my bed. Kind of a creepy looking statue... Maybe the Zerbst did it as a prank.

Louise got dressed and had breakfast. It was odd when she consulted her peers none of them even Kirche would admit to the prank. Where was their noble honor!

Heading for the picnic courtyard area early, Louise went looking for Siesta.

"Hey have you seen the maid Siesta?" Louise asked a servant girl she hadn't seen before.

"I haven't seen her all morning actually, though for some odd reason Chef Marteu was asking for you to come see him." Said the servant maid.

Louise was puzzled, why did the head chef want to see her?

"I guess I'll come along then, miss?" Louise asked for the maids name.

"Cansada.. I know its a weird name, but my grandmother said it was tradition." The maid said as she lead her to the kitchens.

"Here noble, this letter is for you. Don't ask, I don't know why Cansada's grandmother left it for you, but please take it." The chef stated.

Louise took the letter and went somewhere to read it in private. Maybe it was a clue to where Siesta had went. Thinking so Louise ducked into a nearby empty classroom.

"Hello miss Valliere, I know... You are probably wondering why I left you this letter, well I died, though I knew it was coming. My good friend Chef Marteu said he would deliver this letter to you now. I never thought I'd end up as old grandmother wash board. I'm sure you heard of me, the old spinster always cleaning the nobles clothes, the one that died in your first year?

Well you also know me by another name, I'm Siesta. I'm afraid I don't have good news to tell you. By now I've already been whisked away to the past. So don't bother looking for me. I don't know how or why it's possible, I asked a strange mage I met about it one day, he said something about time being a ball that was all wibbly wobbly, timey wimey, and stuff. It didn't really make much sense, have you seen my granddaughter Cansada? I think she's just like me.

Chef Marteu said he would look after her for me, she's my only granddaughter. She really is a spitfire though, I really hope she doesn't get into any troubles like count mont...

Now I know you still probably don't believe me right? You probably just think I'm a crazy old lady. When I got back to the past though I started remembering another life. That mage I mentioned before? Well he said something about traveling through time causes people to regain or retain all their memories when they do so. I tired to ask him more about it, but unfortunately he disappeared. I chased after him, but all I heard was this really off putting weird whiring sound when I caught up to his last location.

I'll say it bluntly Louise, I remember Saito, and it pains my heart! No it's pained my heart for decades! Please do anything you can to save him! I don't know why you didn't summon him, but what you did summon most be destroyed. It sent me here, my only warning to you is never let it out of your sight until you're sure you have destroyed it. Good luck Louise, oh and don't blink. Your friend in time, Siesta."

Louise almost wanted to cry. Well she was, but she wouldn't admit it to herself. How could this have happened, had her magic sent Siesta away! No!? But this was validation, the time resets were real, if only she could find that weird timey wimey mage. Well he was in the past, so no chances there. First she would have to deal with her familiar. If it truly had attacked Siesta, who might it attack next? It was just a statue for Brimirs sake. Or was it? Was it in truth actually a golem?

Louise got up and looked behind her.

Her familiar was in the classroom behind her. It was staring at her with its arms held out towards her. A slight gesture of malice on its face.

"Posing your familiar now?" Kirche said as she walked into the door.

"Kirche, what are you doing, following me?" Louise asked, no demanded as she continued to look at her familiar.

"Just concerned after I didn't see you in the courtyard. Guiche just sent a maid away crying." Kirche said.

It repeats even when a different maid is present? Does that mean I have to confront Guiche to stop him?

"Chef Marteu sent Guiche packing though, the chef came storming out and threatened to lower Guiche's food quality." Kirche stated.

Louise sighed as she looked towards Kirche briefly.

Kirche closed her eyes for a moment when she smiled after informing Louise of the outside scuffle. When she opened her eyes after that short moment Louise's Familiar had wrapped its arms around Louise's body. It was still not moving but she now could see sharp teeth protruding from the statues mouth inches away from Louie's neck!

"Louise! Get away from your familiar!" Kirche pried her from the hard statues grasp.

After getting herself free, Louise turned back around and stared at her creepy familiar.

"What the hell is this thing Louise, a golem!?" Kirche asked, more to herself then Louise.

"I think we should leave Kirche." Louise spoke as the lanterns lighting the windowless classroom started to flicker violently.

"I think your right!" Kirche said as she summoned some flames to the end of her wand.

This was such a bad time for the lanterns to run out of oil!

As they got to the classrooms door they found it was locked.

"How is it locked! Zerbst did you stupidly lock it behind you!" Louise turned and shouted at her.

"Why would I lock us together in a room Zero!" Kirche yelled as she turned her head away from Louise's familiar.

Wait neither of us is looking at my familiar!

Louise turned around as blood dripped from her cheek, the angels hand milometers from her eye.

Both girls screamed as they ran for the auxiliary door. Everytime they looked back the angel would seemingly get closer.

"Open the door Louise!" Kirche shouted.

Louise attempted to do just that, but the handle would not turn, it was locked! But there wasn't even a lock on this door!

"Louise hurry! The lanterns have all gone out!" Kirche said as she cast a fire spell right as the angel yet again closed the difference across the classroom.

"It's locked!" Louise shouted.

Kirche looked down at her spell. Normally such a spell would be easy to maintain, hell she could do it all day long without breaking a sweat. Now however, it was flickering no matter how much will power she fed it!

"Zero blast that thing with one of you spells! Do it now!" Kirche yelled.

Louise started to channel magic into her wand as she readied her incantation.

What, it's glowing blood orange again? I still retained my other familiars power? No, that wasn't quite right. Before it had been over ten times stronger when she released her spell with Colbert. Right before that fox had appeared. I'm somehow able to retain some of the abilities I gain through these time leaps? But there wasn't anymore time to think.

"Explosion!" Louise shouted out.

A large eruption expanded outwards from her wand momentarily blinding both girls.

Did I do it? It's so dark.

"Kirche?"

A weird feeling passed through Louise. When it finally passed she fund herself in a somewhat familiar place.

People were coming and going all around her. She was laying on the ground, the sky lit up by the bright sun. She was in some tall grass.

Where am I? How did I get her? Is Kirche here too?

"Hey miss, it might not be good to lay in the grass like that?" Said a young man around Saito's age, perhaps a bit older based on his facial hair.

He looked like a commoner, but then so did everyone around here, wherever here was.

Louise took his hand and got up. She had some questions of course.

"Where am I?" Louise asked.

"A small port city for airships heading to the floating continent." The man said, puzzled at her question. How did one get to a port city without knowing where they were.

"In what country of Halkeginia are we in, I think you were referring to Albion right? The floating island." She asked.

"Hmm, never heard of a floating Island called Albion. We are in Halkeginia though. Quite far from the holy city of Romalia though. Around the northern west tip of it." He stated.

"What, were in Tristain?" Louise asked in disbelief.

The man was bewildered by this oddly dressed girl, was she perhaps lost?

"I have no idea about a Tristain, Romalia controls all these lands, or at least so they claim. Really the local lords control these area's as they see fit so far away from Romalia."

That's not possible, were am I really, this man most be lying to me!

"Brimir! Come help me with our cargo!" Called out a young girl, wait no.

That's a damn elf! By Brimir did that elf just say Brimir!

"Don't mind Sasha, she's a bit crude, only knows how to swing a sword good. You would think as someone of the elf folk she could at least use a bit of magic!" He emphasized.

"Don't give me that Brimir! All you stupid spells ever do is explode or you have to chant for an hour why I sit there and protect you! You even try to look up my skirt while I fight for you!" Yelled the elf girl.

This isn't possible, it goes against everything I know. But those are the same Gandálfr runes on her hand as Saito's! This can't be possible! Now I'm back six thousand years, why, how!

"That's why I love you Sasha. Whats your name by the way? I'm Brimir a humble mage."

Louise was at a loss for words, her whole world crumbling... This was the great and powerful Brimir? I elf skirt chasing perverted young man with exploding magic. Brimir, this wasn't funny.

"Come on Brimir we gotta get on the airship before it takes off!" Sasha the elf girl grabbed Brimir.

"Come on Brimir, my partner says it's time to go!" Clapped the hilt of the sword on Sasha's waist.

Derflinger! Louise internally cried. Another reminder of Saito.

Louise had been so caught up in her interal musings the ship took off before she could even try and talk with them more.

This is great stuck in the past, Brimir's a worthless Elf chasing pervert, and I think I may finally understand Saito's dislike of Brimir.

With nothing left to do Louise started wandering around the port town. It was amazing how so little had changed with the people of the world despite the difference in times.

As the sun et she found the ECU in her pocket was worthless in this economy. ECU unitsof currency had been created by Brimir after all.

Her stomach growled.

"Here do you like Fish and Custard, or perhaps a Jelly Belly candy?" Said a tall lanky man in a suit. A weird looking red hat was on his head.

Reluctantly the girl took some candy.

"So Louise Francois, what bring you to the times before the Brimiric ages?" Said the man.

Louise nearly spat out the candy. "How do you know who I am?"

"Well, we met before." He said.

"I've never met you!" Louise shouted.

"Well I met you. At that time you apparently had already met me. Things get a little wibley wobley timey wimey you know. Sometimes I don't meet people in the right order." He stated.

"Your a time traveler! Who are you?" She asked.

"You can just call me John smith, not that its important to know, Who, I am. I got a message from you. Would you like to here it?" He asked.

Louise nodded her head.

"Well Louise, no matter what happens, your other self wants you to know to never give up trying to save Saito. Just that. Now I must be off." He said as he stepped inside a blue box.

"Wait! I have more questions!" Louise yelled.

The door opened a small jar. "Sorry, no more answers, your a focal point in time I must stay away from Void mage, old girl is already upset enough at me!" Said the man as he patted his blue box before disappearing into nothing along with his box. A strange sound sounding all around as he vanished.

The rest of the day passed and at midnight everything went black.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise sprang out of bed with a pounding headache.

Not again... Back at the start of the loop. Still there is hope. I regain all my memories every reset, unlimited retries, and most importantly! I can learn and even take some small portion of the abilities I gain with me through the resets! If I can just hold on, saving Saito is possible!

But I still need more information, I wonder if I can re-summon one of the Familiars I've gotten before in other resets? I need to try! I think I remember the runic array for the fox I summoned.

So like before she pushed her way through the eavesdropping Kirche and found herself redoing the same runic array that she used to summon her fox Familiar.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

A large man in a red cloak was walking, no he was strolling. Yes, a midnight stroll. On that stroll he happened to come across prey. Yes, prey that ran into some weird glowing portal. Now normally a weird glowing portal would be concerning. Said man didn't fucking care though. Yes, portals went somewhere right, and well, he could just return from there, he had prey to kill. Hence he decided to slowly stroll after the prey before he himself entered the glowing oval portal.

*Ground Zero Summoning*

Louise waited in anticipation at her experiment, shutting out all her peers insults while doing so. Once this blasted smoke cleared, which was larger then before thanks to that weird glowing orange energy on her wand, she would have her answer. Did she manage to summon the fox back?

Louise heard a gut wrenching scream behind her. As she turned around she saw several of her several students heads flying off their heads in large splatters of blood.

What the hell is going on! Then she saw it, it had fangs, it looked like a man, but his face was pale. Yes she had heard of Vampires in her textbook, supposedly extinct since the time of... Brimir. Now that she had met him, she supposed the elf skirt chasing pervert probably missed a few.

Yes her classmates were dropping like flies. Yeah she would be resetting soon, a failed experiment she thought...

A man in a long red coat, wearing a large strange looking hat, and glasses, waltzed in through the smoke of her explosion.

She then felt as her arms were pulled behind her back. Her wand fell to the ground. The vampire had her.

"Oh you have a hostage. That's nice." Said the man.

"Yes, and since I do, you won't dare to stop me!" Said the Vampire confidently.

"Oh...Well that may work on a catholic priest, but... I'm a god damned, mother fucking, Vampire killing, mother fucking Vampire." Said the man as he held out a large caliber pistol.

Bang!

Louise fell to the ground along with the vampire. Pieces of her heart also scattered all over the ground just like her classmates bodily remains.

"Sorry about that little girl... Oh you look so desperate and sad. You look just like a small puppy... Oh... I can't just leave you like this.. Fine!" Said the man as he bit into Louise neck.

All I can see is red... Is my chest regenerating!? No way!

Louise sat up, all of her wounds healed. Her eyes were glowing red. She felt powerful. No, she felt a powerful craving, a craving for blood...

"Bitching." Said the tall man.
