Lost in Translation

Sometime late after dark as the stars twinkle high in the Mewnian sky, Marco wanders around aimlessly around the castle after the events that had transpired a few minutes prior. Seemingly lost in thought Marco ponders if they made the correct choice severing Star's connection to him with the severing stone. Sitting on a nearby bench in the castles cold halls Marco puts his face in his hands and recounts everything that had happened to him at that point; the memories come to him in small flashes starting out slow before speeding up to a crescendo. Cpt. Blanches Sugar Seeds, realizing his feelings for his best friend are tearing him apart, the talk with Eclipsa and the subsequent awkward conversation with said best friend and her boyfriend.

Marco leaned back against the hard, cold castle bricks and looked at the ceiling as the scenes continued to play out in his mind. Tom telling them about what the Blood Moon really does and how it is affecting them, the trip to the underworld to get rid of the curse as well as the many tense moments he had with star. The memories were starting to blur at this point in Marco's mind as he sighed heavily and laid his hands into his hoodie's pockets and closed his eyes. The following part was the hardest as Marco remembered the dread he felt as he approached the severing stone especially after hearing Relicor going on about how much he had regretted ever severing his connection.

The next part was where his memory started to get a little faulty as he remembered asking the stone to sever their connection even after wanting nothing more than to turn around and forget that any of that had ever happened. Then, nothing. He had not remembered a single thing about what had happened after he had danced with star. But Marco did indeed remember his vast feeling of emptiness after the deed was done. As if there was a piece of him missing and the worst part was that he could not even remember what it was, though his suspicions lead him to believe it was in fact Star herself.

After Marco's run through memory lane, he decided he had enough of moping around, he had done enough of that after Star had left him behind when Toffee had returned, Marco decided he need to speak to someone and there was only one person in the entire castle that could possibly understand what he was feeling now, Eclipsa. And so, Marco made his way down to where he knew Eclipsa to be at this time of night, putting aside the fact that they had met many times this way before, Marco slowly traversed the Mewnian castle and soon found himself entering the bowels of the place. Stepping into the light caused by the giant crystal housing Mewni's most hated monster, aside from Toffee of course, Marco surveyed the room looking about its interior and seeing nothing but the same sight he was accustomed to every time he came down here.

Dark interior with the only light coming from Globgor's crystal in the center of the from aside from a few torches here and there to light up the truly dark places of the place. Chipped and uneven walls looking as if they were hand carved away and started to fall apart due to age, a dank smell as well as moist air likely coming from waterfall running over top of the place. Then there was the overall gloomy and slightly oppressive atmosphere that clung to everything and everyone that entered this room, overall if Marco did not need and enjoy talking to Eclipsa if he never had to be in this room again, he would not be complaining at all.

He soon found the person he was looking for in the same spot he always found her in, next to Globgor's crystal staring up at his countenance and occasionally rubbing it. As if doing so would somehow release the monster from his unbreaking prison, or at the very least give her some extra comfort. Marco stepped up behind the current Queen of Mewni and turned his head to look at her form. Ever the fashionable one even in the dead of night she wore a pink robe with a matching pair of pants, looking down Marco saw her adorable bunny slippers and upon looking up to her face saw her curly green hair bound and tied up into a pink scarf.

"If you are going to stare at me that hard then maybe we should take another trip to the underworld to have another little chat with the severing stone" said Eclipsa as she turned her head to look at a blushing Marco, before giggling into her hand as Marco sheepishly looked to the side and way from her. "Oh, Marco my dear boy I'm just teasing you no need to get your knickers in a bunch." Eclipsa said in a haughty voice before taking on a mischievous tone and squinting her eyes and adopting a devil's grin. "Besides we both know you've got your eye on a different butterfly don't you". This seemed to be hilarious to her as she broke out into a thick laugh full of snickers and watery eyes.

Unfortunately, Marco was unamused; for as soon as Eclipsa mentioned his best friend the entire reason for him coming to find her hit him like a bear hug from Buff Frog. This caused his smile and blush to drop instantly and his earlier foul mood raised its ugly head. Eclipsa took immediate notice of Marco's mood change and with a small frown walked over to talk to the young man.

Cupping her hand and reaching over to lift Marco's chin, the queens concerned visage graced Marco's eyesight and he gazed into her eyes which were full of unasked questions. Unable to look her in the eye for some reason Marco turned his head away from her. An action which Eclipsa did not appreciate, turning his head back to look her Eclipsa spoke in a soft voice, "Marco, look at me and tell me what's wrong. What happened". Unable to resist her, Marco proceeded to tell Eclipsa exactly what had happened in the underworld, what had started as a simple retelling to summarize what happened. Turned into a detailed explanation and recounting of the earlier night's activities complete with a vivid description of what he was feeling at the time, and what he felt now. Marco had no idea how but somehow, he ended up sitting on the floor with Eclipsa rubbing his back as he spilled his heart out to her.

"And now I don't know how I should feel. Its like there's a void in my soul and I'm missing something, but the worst part is that I don't even know what that thing is" muttered Marco with his head down. "What do I do Eclipsa I'm lost right now, and I don't even know how or why I'm lost" Marco continued. Marco looked into Eclipsa's eyes full of pity as he spoke his next words "I need help and you know what I'm going through better than anyone else right now".

Eclipsa could not help but feel her heart tear a little at hearing the young man sitting next to her sink into despair. She had in fact had an idea of what Marco was going through; 300 years sealed into a crystal, the Magic High Commission stealing and hiding her baby and forcing her to live a terrible life than continue to lie to everyone about it for hundreds of years had done some damage. Not to mentioned how everyone viewed her and how much everyone hated her took a toll, so Eclipsa could understand perhaps better than anyone how Marco was feeling right now. Yet even as she agreed with Marco, she thought there was someone even more qualified than she to speak to the young man beside her and help him. That person being the very one that had gone this whole ordeal with him, Star.

And so, as Eclipsa continued to rub his back she lifted Marco's chin up once again to look at her and spoke, "You're right I do know better than anyone else how you're feeling right now but there's someone even more qualified than me isn't there?". Upon gazing at Marco's confused face Eclipsa quickly said the next part, "The person who went through what you just went through with you. Your best friend?". Marco quickly blushed in embarrassment at forgetting that Star had also gone through this with him and would likely be feeling way about all this as well. In the back of his mind Marco told reminded him of how much Star was so eager to ignore and avoid him the whole trip and how she might not want to be around him right now. He quickly put the thought out of his head and put a small smile on his face at the prospect of resolving everything with a quick talking with his best friend, 'I mean how hard could it be we've always talked about our problems before so this should be no different' Marco thought.

Marco rushed Eclipsa and pulled her into a strong warm bear hug and muffled a small "thank you" into her shoulder before rushing off leaving a flustered Eclipsa behind. Eclipsa put her hand to her cheek and smiled hard, "ah to be young and in love again". Eclipsa looked up at the prison holding her beloved husband, "oh Globgor I wish you were here" Eclipsa shed a small tear at her next words. "Though I'm afraid you may never return, and I may have to move on." At this Eclipsa lowered her head and stood up from the floor shedding more tears walking past Globgor's crystal letting her hand glide across it as she did pausing at the entranceway of the room. "I will always love you, never forget that". Eclipsa soon shuffled away leaving nothing but an empty cold stone room, housing a prison for a monster hated by all and loved by one.
