Hi everyone, so a lot of this chapter is just about word for word from these scenes that actually happened on the show. It's mostly just a reminder to those who haven't seen it for a while. I promise the whole story won't be like that though. And I changed the ending after Rae and Adam left, I don't think that actually happened on OLTL. But like I said in chapter 1, I can't find all these scenes in full, so who knows, it might have happened.

Thank you to the Guest and tarbush for the nice reviews. I'm excited for this story. Enjoy!

Chapter 2- A Holy Piece of Paper

"He loves me! And when he shows up, we'll have a real family reunion with really important people. Not like a bunch of clowns like you!" Skye snarled at Rae and Myrtle through the bars of her cell.

"Skye, please," Rae said uncharacteristically in a soft tone.

"He will! He will come! Now just get out! Just get out! The both of you go!" Skye pointed frantically towards the exit. She needed her father, not these carnival freaks. "Just go!" She whipped around and rested her chin in her hand as the tears fell down her cheeks.

As she heard the sounds of Myrtle and Rae's footsteps drift further away, she kicked the bottom bunk hard, which was a huge mistake and just made her foot throb. She plopped down and kicked her shoe off to massage her sore foot. The truth was, Adam was probably too busy with Hayley, Junior, or Colby to even bat an eye at Skye rotting in jail for something she didn't do. Uncle Stuart was the only one who truly cared about her. She didn't want anyone to know that though, least of all Rae Cummings. She couldn't stand the woman especially since she helped put her behind bars in the first place. Skye would never hurt Max, she loved him. Todd or Blair shot him, she was sure of it. But the whole town was against her. No matter where she went everyone was against her. No one wanted her. Not Althea, not Adam. Did Max really care about her? She won him from Blair, but was this all just a game and not love?

How was it that her only visitors so far were John Sykes, Rae Cummings, and Myrtle Fargate? How did her life sink so low? But it was strange, after Rae yelled at her so nastily and declared she was going to jail, John stood up for Skye and dragged Rae to the back room. Something seemed to have changed in Rae after they talked. It was like Hell froze over and Rae was staring at her weirdly and said she was sorry. Sorry for what Skye couldn't figure out. Just like now when she came with Myrtle to visit, she looked at her in a strange new way and talked to her so softly. It was almost… no. Skye couldn't go there. She loathed the woman with every fibre of her being. She was probably only there to gloat that Skye was rotting behind bars even though she was innocent. Daddy would come, he just had to.

The holiday season dragged for Rae. Between her regular visits with her new-found angry and confused locked up daughter and her sleepless nights which turned into midnight counseling sessions with Todd Manning (despite her several attempts to explain to him that she cancelled all of her clients for the time being because she was dealing with a personal matter), she found herself working non-stop with John trying to find evidence that Skye was being framed. Even though Skye was the reason for his suspension, he was quite forgiving and supportive. Myrtle voiced she thought it was best not to tell Skye that Rae was her mother because she was feared it would destroy her Chandler world. Mama meant well, Rae knew, but it was easier said than done keeping a secret as big as this. Especially when every fibre of her being longed for a relationship with Skye and to hold her in her arms for the first time since she was born. She did agree that telling her in jail was a terrible idea however, and even best to wait until the charges were completely dropped.

After New Years, John was back to work, and he informed Rae that Adam Chandler finally paid Skye's bail. The tension grew thicker when John and Rae went out for lunch one day and saw Skye standing with Todd and Blair. Rae was happy to see Skye and wanted to invite her to join them. Skye however walked over and accused Rae of shooting Max. Todd and Blair stood there with their arms crossed watching Skye tear into Rae. Blair finally spoke up and claimed that her daughter Starr had been traumatized because she witnessed Rae shoot Max. After John and Rae questioned a clearly NOT traumatized Starr it was obvious that one or both of her parents put her up to claiming that it was the spikey-haired lady who shot Max.

Todd and Blair's wedding fast approached. Rae learned that Skye was involved in a game with Max to break up Todd and Blair as payback and tried to encourage her daughter to show some self-respect and not allow her boyfriend to shack up with the bride on her wedding night just to make Todd jealous. Skye of course didn't appreciate Rae talking to her like that. Everyone was shocked when Todd said, "Hello no," instead of "I do" because Blair shot her last husband in the back. He even admitted to planting the gun at Skye's place because he didn't want Starr's mother in prison. Rae gasped but also felt relieved that the truth was out and neither she nor Skye were suspects anymore. But this was the least of surprises from Todd that day.

Skye stepped forward and threatened a lawsuit against him for framing him. "Do you know who my father is?"

Todd smirked. "No. Do you know who your mother is? I do."

Rae's chest went heavy and her mouth dropped slightly.

"Excuse me, Skye," John interrupted and walked over to Todd. "Come on, Manning, we'll go downtown, and I'll take your statement about the shooting—"

Skye pointed at John. "No, you can wait. Todd and I aren't finished yet."

"I'm certainly not finished," Todd said. "But you can join in if you'd like. I was about to reveal who Skye's mother is."

"Very funny," Skye said.

Rae rose to her feet, breathing heavily.

"My mother is Althea Chandler, and believe me, there is nothing you can reveal about her that I don't already know."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Todd!" Rae tried to break in.

"Yes," Skye said.

"Todd, just please," Rae said. "You've hurt Skye enough already, all right?"

"Manning, you're in serious trouble, don't make it worse," John said.

"Oh! Let him say what he has to say!" Skye insisted. "He framed me, what more could he do to me?"

"Todd, don't do this," Rae begged.

"Rae's right." Todd nodded. "What I'm about to say might hurt you."

Skye turned to Rae and John and shouted, "Butt OUT, YOU TWO! What do you care what he says to me?"

"I hate to be the one to have to tell you this, but—"

"Todd!" Rae pleaded.

"—what I'm about to say does matter, greatly."

"No!" Rae turned to boyfriend. "John!"

Skye scrunched her face. "Why does it matter?"

Rae locked eyes with Todd. "Don't say it. Don't say it."

Todd looked at John. "Shouldn't there be a drum roll, like trumpets or something?"

"Manning, just shut your mouth," John replied.

"Okay." Todd shrugged. "Okay, fine."

Rae placed a hand over her mouth.

Todd turned back to Skye. "You know Rae Cummings' long-lost baby, you know, the one she's been looking for for like ever?" He smiled brightly. "It's you, Skye."

Skye's heart sank for a moment and she stared at Todd. "Oh." She laughed.

Rae turned to Skye with tears in her eyes.

"Oh really, Todd?" Skye said. "This… this is just too much, even for you."

"Okay, call me crazy." Todd reached inside his jacket and pulled out a piece of paper. "But I even have it written down on a holy piece of paper."

"What's that?" John asked.

"It's a piece of paper." Todd unfolded it and pointed at the top. "It says right there that Adam and Althea Chandler were the adoptive parents. Oh! And look at who the mother of biblical record is." Todd faked a shocked look on his face and turned the paper towards Skye. "Rae Cummings begat Skye!"

Skye's mouth dropped slightly as she stared at the paper, then yanked it from Todd's hands. "Th-this is fake. I know you, Todd, you-you can do anything on that computer. You-you-you forged this, then you made a copy!" She held it back out to him.

Todd nodded. "Yeah, it is a copy, but the original is real. And if you don't believe me, you can ask Rae. I took it from her office."

Skye turned to a crying Rae. "Now either Rae Cummings is plain crazy! Or she's just malicious and she's LYING!"

"No!" Rae shook her head. "I'm not."

"You hate me!"

Rae nodded. "I did."

"So, what? This is some nasty practical joke… is this payback? To convince me that you're my mother? I mean, what could be worse than that?"

"There's nothing," Rae choked up. "There's nothing worse than this. I spent so many years looking for my little girl. And here she is. And she hates me."

"No!" Skye pushed her hair back. "No! It's not true!" She threw her hands in the air. "Y-You're… you're lying! It's not true."

"The proof… is in your hands, Skye," Rae said.

Skye crumpled up the paper and threw it at Rae's chest. "It's not proof. It's a copy of something you forged! It's a lie!"

"It's not a lie," Rae said.

"The piece of paper is a copy, but the information is true, Skye," John said.

"NO!" Skye shouted.

"If you calm down, you'll realize you could've done a lot worse," John said.

"I AM NOT CALMING DOWN. You know what?" Skye's eyes started to tear up. "I really gotta hand it to you people. I gotta give you credit. You're really doing me in, aren't ya? You've developed a new means of torturing me." She shook her head. "But I'm not going to buy it, no. I'm not going to buy it now, NOT EVER!"

Skye turned and ran off to the ladies' room. And it didn't take long for Rae to walk in behind her. It seemed like a blur to Skye. Rae's insistence that she's her mother, even when Skye asked her to leave. But she pressed on telling Skye about her own rough childhood. And how when she gave birth to Skye, Rae's adoptive family told her that her baby died, only to kidnap her and give her to another family. Rae showed her the original copy of the page from the Bible, but Skye shouted at her that she was delusional and desperate for a child of her own. Her father doesn't steal babies. She was a Chandler and that wasn't changing, not ever.

But Rae wouldn't stop talking. When Skye wouldn't believe her about the Bible page, Rae went on to say that John did a DNA test on them. Skye freaked out more. How could he do that without her permission? But Rae didn't have that piece of paper on her that day, though it was probably fake too.

"Skye, are you going to be all right?" Rae asked as Skye was about to leave.

"You mean, am I going to drink?"

"Are you?"

"Oh, drop dead… Mommy." Skye stormed out and slammed the door behind her.

Skye pulled out her phone almost immediately as she moved further and further from that bathroom that contained the delusional Rae Cummings. "You've got to come to Llanview, Daddy. They're saying I'm not your daughter."

Finally, an hour later, Adam arrived in Skye's hotel room. "Oh, Daddy. I knew you'd come." Skye rushed into his arms and rested her head on his shoulder.

"It's going to be all right now, sweetheart."

Skye let go of his embrace but kept her hands on his arms and looked up at the father whose attention she longed for her entire life. "You know, you're the only one who can make it right. The only one who can stop Rae Cummings from spreading that ridiculous lie of hers."

Adam scrunched his face. "Rae Cummings?"

Tears streamed down her cheeks. "That woman has this crazy idea that I'm her daughter."

Adam looked at her with concern, but before he could say anything, there was a knock at the door. When Skye didn't make any attempt to go answer it, Adam did for her.

"Hello, Adam," Rae said as she walked in, looking over at Skye.

But turned and walked away to stand in the corner so she didn't have to look at either of them.

"What were you thinking, blind-siding my daughter like this?" Adam asked.

"I did not tell her that she was my daughter," Rae said. "That was the work of a sociopath named Todd Manning."

"How did he know?"

"Because he stole the information from my office."

"Well, perhaps you could've been a little less cavalier with that misinformation."

"Misinformation?"

Adam pointed towards Skye. "You can see what it's done to my daughter!"

"I can see perfectly well what it's done to her!"

Skye hurried over to Adam and he turned to her. "Then I am a Chandler?"

"Sweetheart," Adam squeezed her arms. "Yes, of course you're a Chandler."

Skye smiled.

Adam cupped her face in his hands. "You're an adopted Chandler."

Skye started crying again. "No, Daddy. No don't say that, please take it back. I promise, I'll do what ever you want."

He wrapped his arms around her once more as she sobbed into his shoulder. "Sweetheart, I love you. I always have."

Adam went on to explain how he was away for an extended business trip for nearly seven months and returned to find a baby girl in Althea's arms and he had no reason to believe that she wasn't his biological child. But a few years back a barred lawyer came into his office and said that he had proof that he sold Althea a baby girl. But he and Stuart decided nothing good would come of telling her the truth after all these years and either way she was still his child. He didn't want her to lose any association she had with Althea and in no way did he want her to think she was losing him. He was proud of her that she quit drinking, but he and Stuart were afraid of what this might do to her.

"Sweetheart, I did what I thought was best for you."

Skye tugged her arm away from him. "Liar! You did what was best for you."

Adam gaped at her.

"You never cared about me," Skye cried out. "You didn't tell me I was adopted to spare me. You didn't tell me because it was easier for you, because telling me would've actually meant you'd have to speak to me!"

"I'm here, aren't I? I am speaking to you now!"

"Then where were you when I got arrested!? And I spent Christmas and New Years in jail!?"

"I couldn't get away, sweetheart."

"Oh!" Skye laughed through her tears. "But if it had been Hayley? Or Colby? Or Junior? It would've been a different story, wouldn't it?"

"I arranged for your lawyer. I arranged for your bail."

"I didn't want a lawyer! I wanted my father! All the guards in the prison couldn't understand how a rich and powerful man like Adam Chandler could let his daughter sit and rot in prison. Well, you know what? Now we know why. Because I'm not your daughter."

"Yes, you are," Adam said. "You are my daughter. You are my daughter! I don't care who gave birth to you, you're my daughter!"

"You never treated my like your daughter. You were never there for me when I had a problem. You always threw money at me and hoped I would go away. I was nothing but an embarrassment to you."

"Don't say these things… not in front of…" Adam leaned his head towards Rae.

"Who?" Rae scrunched her face. "Her mother?"

"You know what I am?" Skye pressed her hands against her chest. "I'm damaged goods. A baby…" She pointed to Rae and sobbed harder. "Stolen from Rae Cummings by your drunken lunatic ex-wife."

Adam reached out to her. "No, don't—"

Skye tugged away from him. "No, don't touch me. Don't come near me, leave me alone!"

"Skye…" Rae walked closer with wet eyes. "Your father loved you."

"Does he?" Skye sniffled. "Then I'd love to meet him. You really must introduce us."

"I meant Adam, of course."

"This man is not my father. And you're not my mother. I have no parents. I have nobody." She choked up. "I am nobody."

Adam and Rae went on to reassure her that that wasn't true. And Rae said it breaks her heart to see her that way.

Skye shook her head. "Just get out. I want you out of here. Just get out. Now, get out the both of you before I call security! GET OUT!"

"I'm not letting you go, you're my daughter and it's going to be all right," Adam said. "We just need some time."

"NO! WHAT I NEED IS TO GET THE TWO OF YOU OUT OF HERE, NOW!" She pointed abruptly towards the door. "GO!"

After they left, Skye plopped down on the bed and buried her face into her pillow, sobbing. She never felt emptier and more broken in her entire life. Not when Tom cheated on her, not when she was in Oak Haven, not when she was in jail, not even when Althea drank in front of her. Now she was nobody. But all it was was proof of what she knew her entire life. No one loved her. No one cared about her or wanted to give her the time of day. She wasn't Adam's and Rae didn't want her. She pushed away the wetness on her face and grabbed the phone and called room service.

Ten minutes later, a bottle of vodka was delivered to her room. She slammed the door shut and double locked it before laying down in her bed and chugging down the bottle, not bothering to use a glass.
